Hi everyone,

I realized that many of you joined my classes recently, so I wanted to take a moment to properly reintroduce myself — not just as a teacher, but as a person behind the paintings.

I’m Sukrutha , I'm 31..from Bangalore, India, and I’ve been painting with watercolors for almost 10 years now. I’ve also been teaching on Skillshare since 2019, creating classes inspired by moody landscapes, misty forests, soft skies, and limited color palettes.

But honestly, art was not always my full-time world.

A few years ago, I was working a regular nine-to-five job that, on paper, felt like the “right” path for me. I genuinely enjoyed studying for that career, and I entered it with a lot of excitement and passion. But somewhere along the way, I slowly started feeling disconnected from myself. Life became repetitive, rushed, and emotionally exhausting, and I found myself turning more and more toward watercolor as a quiet escape from all the noise.

Painting became the one place where I could slow down and breathe again.

What started as a hobby slowly turned into something much bigger. I began sharing classes online, found my footing on Skillshare, and over time built a creative life that feels far more aligned with who I truly am.

Outside of Skillshare, I also share watercolor content on YouTube, where I’m currently creating more intentional and thoughtful videos around painting, creativity, and the process behind my work. I’ll leave the link below if you’d like to join me there as well.

On a more personal note, I’m also a new mom. My daughter, Arvika, is almost six months old now, and this season of life has been both beautiful and overwhelming in ways I never fully expected. My husband, Vikram, works as a data science engineer, and together we’ve been slowly learning how to balance work, creativity, parenthood, and all the little changes that come with building a new life together.

Between sleepless nights, tiny milestones, and finding pockets of quiet time to paint again, life looks very different these days — slower in some ways, fuller in others.

Lately, I’ve been experimenting more, painting on larger papers again, and trying to reconnect with art beyond simply creating for social media or productivity. I want this new chapter of my work to feel slower, more meaningful, and more peaceful — both for me and for the students who paint alongside me.

If you’ve taken even one of my classes, thank you for being here. Truly. Your support has allowed me to continue creating and teaching through so many different seasons of life.

And before I end this little reintroduction, I’m also excited to share that a brand new class — 7 Days of Ocean Waves — will be coming to Skillshare on June 1st. It’s a calming ocean-themed series where we’ll paint expressive waves, soft skies, and atmospheric seascapes together.
