A challenge to all my Automotive Electrical Students.

See if you can figure out the answers to the following schematic diagnosis questions.

Question One: In the picture above. How much voltage do you expect to measure on the meter shown when the switch is closed?

Question Two: In the picture above. If the two bulbs are the same type, how much voltage do you expect to measure on the meter shown when the switch is closed?

Question Three: The meter in the picture above measures 0 volts. Bulb 1 lights up with the switch closed but bulb 2 does not. Where does the fault have to be located?

Question Four: Both headlights work normally when the headlamp switch is closed. When the fog lamp switch is then closed, the fuse blows. Which technician is correct in his/her thinking about what is wrong?

Tech A says: There is a short between points U and V.

Tech B says: An open circuit between points W and V could be the cause.

Tech C says: A short circuit between points F and L could be the cause.

Tech D says: A shorted right headlamp bulb could be the cause.

If you took a jumper wire and connected it from terminal G to terminal F of the horn switch, what would happen? Choose one answer.

A) The 10 amp fuse would blow.

B) The horn would turn on.

C) The 20 amp fuse would blow.

D) Nothing would happen.
