I just thought I'd let you know that I've published a new class on Skillshare called 'Learn to Draw with Procreate.'

Aimed at beginners, it's easily my biggest class on Skillshare. It's all about teaching you to draw using plenty of classic drawing techniques. But I also give you techniques that use the power of digital technology to help you learn. Techniques that are completely new and draw on the power of digital art packages. Yes, we use Procreate, and I'll explain the tools we use as we go along (plus there's a Procreate primer video at the end of the course.) But the techniques you learn can be used with just about any app you can draw with.

This course suits newcomers to drawing, but it's also for people with some experience who'd like some techniques they haven't seen before. It's all about helping you learn to draw and there are many projects we will be doing together. We start with a couple of simple drawings to warm up and learn the most important skills when it comes to digital drawing. Then I take you through various exercises and practice projects. Among other things, we will cover:

simple mark making and shapes
volumetrics
sketching the human figure in action
1, 2 and 3 point perspective
shading the digital way
how to measure shapes and angles for more accurate drawing
how to effectively prepare a photo to use as a reference
what are Dots per Inch and why is there so much nonsense talked aout it?

We finish with a major project. You'll be drawing the lovely puppy you can see in the above screenshot. By the end of the course you will have had many hours of effective practice and your drawing skills will have improved - you will know the how and why of drawing in the digital age.
