I loved this class, Sarah is an incredibly talented illustrator and she's also a great teacher!

The thing I loved the most about this class is that I learned how to make things more abstract, but without losing my personal style. I really love drawing still-lives but when I look at my finals I always have the feeling that they're a little too 'realistic' and they lack of personality. This class really taught me how to add a little spice to my illustrations and I'm so happy of the final result!

Then I took some picture of elements around the house and I choose this one (also you can see a very focused me in the reflection ;-D):

Here is my first sketch made with basic shapes, but I had the feeling it was still too realistic and static.

Here's the refined sketch! I change some proportions (made the plant bigger and scaled down both the candle and the sculpture) and distort some shapes as suggested by Sarah. I also applied her 'Curved-to-Straight' trick and saw an instant improvement to the sketch.

And here's the final with shades and textures. I loved how it turned out! It's incredible how some simple suggestions make such a big change!
