Write your own flash fiction:

1. Flash fiction elements. Make an outline of the following elements to start thinking about your story. Throughout the course, you can come back and edit this as you develop your ideas.

Emotion
Character
Images
Incident
Twist

2. Writing briefly.

Write a micro flash fiction of 6, 10, or 20 words. Carefully consider your words and their connotations. Don't forget to utilize your title!

3. Using effective imagery.

Write a scene between 200 to 500 words, describing what your character carries with them in their school bag, purse, suitcase, car trunk, makeup case, etc. Characterize them based on the items they have without directly telling the reader anything about the character.

This is a great exercise to practice showing instead of telling!

4. Writing a flash fiction!

Use your list of elements, use your imagery scene exercise, or use any prompt you'd like! Try to keep your story between 300 and 600 words.

When you're satisfied with your revision, share your story in the project section so your classmates can read and share!
