This class focuses on journaling happy moments from your everyday life using Procreate. Throughout this class, you will learn how to get started on Procreate and complete a 7-day gratitude diary using different brushes and colors.

I’m so happy to share this class with you all as it focuses on two areas that I personally found very important: developing mindfulness and drawing on Procreate.

This class can be divided into two parts: a quick introduction to Procreate and a walkthrough of my 7-day gratitude diary.

The first few video lessons will focus on getting more familiar with Procreate, helping beginner users to gain the confidence to tackle this visual challenge together. You will learn about:

The basic Procreate’s interface to start drawing
Importing images and creating the right canvas for this project
Sampling colors and saving your color palette
My favorite brushes and create your own library
A few useful gestures to draw in a more efficient way

In the second half, you will join me on my personal 7-day gratitude diary journey. On each day:

We will be drawing using different brushes and colors
You will get introduced to increasingly more complex prompts
You will get introduced to new skills for you to hone (ie. sketching, coloring, clean lines, etc.)

The class will give you the right tools to:

develop your own daily drawing practice
show gratitude
create different visual entries from pencil sketches to fully colored illustrations

Furthermore, you will also learn about these technical skills on Procreate:

Import references and images
Use layers: using Reference to color, Opacity, Merge, separating tasks
Play with 4 different types of brushes: Sketching, Inking, Calligraphy, and Painting
Play with lines: streamlines, modify a brush
Color your drawing: sample colors and create your own palettes
Use gestures: draw like a pro using shortcuts to work in a more efficient way

This class is geared towards anyone who would like to start journaling and get started with Procreate. Furthermore, this class is packed with resources including:

Keeping a Gratitude Journal has been shown to increase positive affect, subjective happiness, and life satisfaction while reducing negative affect and depression symptoms. For me, drawing on my iPad has also become a great way to keep a visual journal while improving my drawing skills.
