DAY FIVE

This last day of sketchbook magic I made art together with my son. We had so much fun with ink and straws, just making the most magical art! I loved it and he just loved it too.

DAY FOUR

I ended up in my kitchen, which I thought wouldn't be that much different from the dining room table I always sit at to draw. But it made a big difference, it was such a strange environment to be creative in! I hadn't cleaned up the dishes yet so I draw/painted in a huge mess but that was quite funny actually. I might just do this again. I always tried the doodle technique as described in an earlier class. Not quite my style but nice to try out. It's about the process after all, not the outcome :-)

DAY THREE

I rolled the dice and had a whole 6 minutes at my disposal! My prompt was 'dreams' and my tool was a Staedtler fineliner 0.2mm. I drew as fast as I could! One the one hand 6 minutes felt like way too short of a time (this is really sketching what I did, just as quick as I could draw the visual in my head, full of mistakes but no time to correct them), at the same time I was surprised at how much I could sketch in 6 minutes. More than I thought! It made me feel hungry for more sketching though, I want to spend more time being creative! On the other hand, this is about the only time I have this evening due to hockeypractice I need to go to now, so this is absolutely better that not sketching at all :-)

DAY TWO

This second assignment was more fun than I thought! I'm never a big fan of prompts because many times they're just silly ('a three legged octopus doing the dishes' or whatever) but these prompts I liked, especially in combination with a random object to use! So I ended up with a paperclip, and I used gouache, and my prompt was 'furniture'. So I painted a kids' chair, which was quite hard to do with a paperclip I can tell you :-) But I had loads of fun and that's important, I loved doing it!

DAY ONE

Hi, I'm Rivka! I'm from the Netherlands and I'm following this course because I needed a kickstart in getting creative daily. I illustrate and write and I used to paint, years ago, but with a fulltime job, a family with two little kids and a social life it's just easy to say 'nope, too busy to be creative!' which just sucks. This first project was so much fun! I used a straw and some acrylic ink and I just loved goofing around with it. Thanks for the inspiration!
