In this class, I'll show you how to find and illustrate the hidden character inside the very first letter of your name. It is as easy as it sounds: I'll give you a template to follow and walk you through every single step of the process.

By the end of the class, you'll have a unique character illustration you can frame or gift to someone else.

No prior experience required.

We'll cover:

How to read a letter for shapes and personality and how to find inspiration for your character creation - from letter to a character illustration.
Tracing techniques - using transparent paper to outline the letter to define the character.
Reimagining and redrawing.
Adding details, expressions, textures and patterns to bring your character to life.
How to make creative decisions when you're not sure what to do next.

Materials needed:

Regular paper (I’ll be using A4-size paper)
Tracing/transparent paper
Pen or fine liner
Pencil and eraser
The coloring materials of your choice (I’ll be using acrylic markers)
Printable alphabet template (provided)

This class is beginner-friendly and designed for anyone who's ever loved drawing, doodling, lettering, or character design, or anyone who's never tried any of those things but is curious. We'll use the English alphabet, but feel free to use your native lettering if it feels more authentic to you.

Let's go on a character hunt together!
