In this class you will be using 3 different toning methods using a few different solutions in order to change the color of your cyanotype photography prints.

TIPS TO REMEMBER:

Use good quality watercolor paper (there is lots of extra washing in toning)
Over expose your prints (your original cyanotype prints should be on the dark side)
Print multiple copies (so you can experiment with different techniques)
Let rest 24 hours at least (this will make for better tones)

ALL SUPPLIES

Cyanotype Supplies

Cyanotype Paper - Buy Pre-coated from Amazon or get cyanotype chemistry to mix and coat your own watercolor paper
Photo Frame - Any old photo frame will work for this. I would recommend using a frame that is larger than your paper size.
Something You Want to Print - In the example I'm using a digital negative printed on a transparency, but you can always choose to print a silhouette like a plant.

Toning Supplies

Bleach Baths
- TSP (trisodium phosphate - hardware stores carry this in the paint section, or you can order online.
- Borax- this is normally sold near household detergents, or you can order it online
Toning Bath (any brand should work, so don't break the bank)
- Black Tea
Plastic Containers - these just need to be big enough to hold your print and deep enough to hold at least 1/2 liter of liquid. You'll need at least 3 of these, but if you have more you can work on multiple toning methods at once.

Alright, that's all you need! Be sure you make a project to share your finished toned prints
