Carrying on with trying out people, I decided to have to have a go at painting some males. I see the beard trend is still very much on, I blame lockdown! :-) Anyway I found myself painting some bearded guys with cool hair. I decided to take each one and give them a personality. This is something that I really enjoyed doing and had lots of fun with it. I have always been unsure of painting human faces, I would normally try to avoid them. But I think it is something that I want to try more of. What do you think?

Addicted to a bearded guy - image 4 - student project Phew, I have been very busy with building my new website and fell off the 'daily creating' wagon. But I cannot wait to start building up my sketchbook again. I am not great at painting humans, and have always avoided it. But decided to take the plunge and try out some ladies with lovely hair. Here is my final pieces for these ladies. I think I will do more. I have to try hard not to think about the end product, I am still trying to train my brain to just live in the moment and paint lots and think later....anyone else relate? Hope you like them. Lx

I have lost track of my days for my daily creating- I have been working on some bears lately. I really enjoyed just sitting down and starting to paint some bears in my head. I was really happy with them but then felt a bit flat as I didn't know what to do with them. I need to stop thinking about the end result and just let my creative energy guide me. So I left them for a few days then returned and decided to add some props to them to give them character. I like where this is going, I hope you do too. Lx

I felt the desire to draw some baby deer. I wasn't too relaxed painting them, I felt I was going to realistic, and had some negative thoughts about how they do not look like deer. Anyway as Ps is my friend I relaxed and thought any parts I don't like I can adjust in Ps. Here is my original paintings.

I have always loved to watch the foxes at night running from garden to garden in my neighbourhood. I decided to have a go at painting some. I tried an adult fox and also a cub. I really enjoyed painting them and think I will do more. I love how this little guy turned out.

Day 8- I painted some toadstools and flowers, I wanted to fill the page as I hate to waste paper and ink and I was on a role...so I started trying some bunnies. This is what I came up with.

Day 7- still playing around with my lion cub paintings. I had an idea to add texture by using my hand carved Lino stamps that I made. I love how the shapes overlap and create different colours. I scanned them in and cut out some shapes that I liked and thought would look good as foliage in the wild. Hope you like it. Addicted to a bearded guy - image 17 - student project Day 7 piece-

Day 6 and I played around with more of my Lions- I love this little guy and think I will create a collection of different lions. I want to try some more animals too.

I loved this little face of the lion I painted- I decided to scan him into Ps and try out some bodies on him. I settled for some scanned text from a childhood book I treasure. I added a little friendly bird, I am really happy with him and definitely want to move in this direction. I hope his little personality shines through.

Day 4- I explored some Lino printing using some hand made stamps I created. Using bright orange and pink I started having fun creating some patterns. I then cut these papers up and decided to use them within my lions that I have painted on day 3.

I then scanned the cut outs into Ps and added them to one of my Lion paintings- so much fun!

Day 3- after a brief warm up on trying cats- I don't know why I have always been scared of painting animals, I only ever drew birds and flowers for the longest time. I have been inspired to have a go at animals. After watching Terry's video on cats I gave them a go. This was a great practice for me to broaden my subject matter, however I do want to develop my own style and I think with never having pets I found it scary knowing where to start. I have always loved Lions since I was a child, but something was stopping me from painting them. I think I was looking at them too long and had an idea in my head of how it should look. After watching the class and realising that it doesn't have to look realistic, as long as people can identify it as a lion, and more importantly I have fun with it. So, lucky for me I got to spend my Saturday painting in my workroom. Here are some lions I did. Some I am not crazy about but (like the dodgy body of the big lion walking) but I do like his head and side profile, so I may do something with him in Ps. I hope my own style shines through on these lions. I cannot wait to do a whole zoo of animals now!! Lx
