Your class project is to illustrate a stylised landscape scene!

I’ve provided a prompt list below to help spark some inspiration for your scene if you need it, but feel free to choose whatever location, theme or atmosphere captures your imagination.

Getting Started:

Review the project videos (lesson 7 onwards) to follow along and create your project with me. Remember that these are just guidelines and you’re more than welcome to use any technique, style, or process that works best for you!

Suggested Process:

Choose a location + atmosphere. (eg. beach + peaceful, forest + spooky, mountains + adventurous)
Gather several inspiring reference photos or create a moodboard relating to your chosen theme
Practice drawing and stylising the individual elements you’d like to appear in your composition
Sketch out several thumbnail compositions and choose your favourite to take to final
Now you’re ready to create the final illustration. On a new canvas, paste in your chosen thumbnail (or redraw from scratch) and begin to refine the sketch with more detail.
Create one or several colour roughs to decide which colours best fit the desired atmosphere
Block out your main layers with your chosen colours
Add details, lighting & atmospheric effects
Once your project is complete, export it as a jpeg or png image and share it with us in the project gallery, along with your studies, sketches, and works-in-progress!
