Design and Print A Custom Linocut

For this project, we’re going to walk through the process of designing a simple icon or image and use a linoleum block to make prints!

Here is a list of suggested supplies for this project. Some affiliate links are included:

--Linoleum or soft rubber

--Set of carving tools (like Speedball lino carving kit)

--Ink (like Speedball water soluble inks)

--Brayer

--Barren or spoon

--Paper

Step 1:

Choose a subject and set a timer for 30-60 minutes. Hunt for inspiration and fill at least one whole page with sketches pertaining to the subject you chose.

Step 2:

Use your sketches to create the icon or image you want to print. Make sure to keep it simple - you will be carving this! Share your design in the project gallery.

Step 3:

Carve your block and pull some proofs along the way to make sure your design is turning out the way you imagined.

Pull those prints! Be sure to share your prints in the project gallery.
