Little magical watercolor wonders! For your class project, you will be creating four original watercolor flowers.

What you'll do:

First you'll learn to paint with water
Then you'll practice controlling the escape of paint from your brush
Next you'll get to know your paints' personalities by swatching them in a particular way
And then you'll practice representing, not replicating objects, by sketching petals and flowers (don't worry, it's not scary!)

Make sure to post these practice exercises in the Project Gallery, so we can all see your progress along the way, and to also get feedback on your work. After these practice exercises, pull all this together for your final project and create four watercolor flowers:

You'll first make two flowers using the planned approach where you sketch it out.
Then you'll make another two flowers with no sketching (really, don't worry!)

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

140lb/300gsm paper. I use cold pressed / “NOT” watercolour paper, but ‘rough’ paper will work well too.
A paint brush. I prefer a size 8 or 10 round. Synthetic and sable both work fine for this.
Watercolor paints - pans / tubes / papers / inks are all fine!
1 or 2 things to hold your water (you don’t need anything fancy, cups work!)
Paper towel or a rag to dry your brush on.
A pencil (HB or harder works best).
Optional: an eraser
Also optional: If you’re impatient (like me), a hair dryer or heat tool.
