I'm an illustrator/designer and have recently gotten interested in surface pattern design. I liked my previous logo but it didn't work well as a watermark on patterns and needed to be simplified.

For INSPIRATION I went to vintage pottery identity stamps to tie in with the flower pot on the original and to keep it simple.

As Faye suggested, I started doodling and started with my initials.

At the end of doodle page one, I was really happy to see a butterfly emerge from my initials! It is in keeping with the type of work I do and also has personal meaning - yay!

I settled on a mint green and grey. I think it works pretty well both horizontally and vertically.
