Hello, I'm Gisela.

I'm an artist and craft teacher with over five years of experience teaching creative workshops at Hobbycraft. Over the years I've explored a wide variety of crafts, but I completely fell in love with fibre arts. There's something incredibly satisfying about working with soft fibres, beautiful textures, and colourful yarns, and it's become my favourite way to create.

I specialise in loom weaving, needle felting, and macramé, and I love helping others discover just how enjoyable and accessible these crafts can be. For me, crafting is much more than making something beautiful—it's also a wonderful form of mindfulness. I first found fibre arts during a time when I was looking for ways to manage my anxiety, and slowing down to create with my hands became a calming and restorative part of my daily life. It's something I'm passionate about sharing with others.

Nature is my biggest source of inspiration. I'm constantly drawn to beautiful florals, woodland themes, wildlife, and the changing seasons. You'll often find those influences woven into my projects through colour palettes, textures, and organic shapes. I also believe there isn't one "right" way to create. Every handmade piece tells its own story, and I encourage my students to embrace happy accidents, experiment with different materials, and grow in confidence with every project they make.

When I'm not crafting, you'll usually find me spending time with my dog, who's my favourite little companion and often keeps me company while I'm creating. I'm also a huge fan of sci-fi and action films, if there's a Star Wars marathon on, I'm definitely watching! I absolutely love the cosy atmosphere of the 'ber' months, when the evenings draw in, the blankets come out, and it's the perfect excuse to settle down with a warm drink and a new creative project. More recently, I've also fallen down the wonderful rabbit hole of K-pop, and I'm always adding new songs to my crafting playlist.

Whether you're picking up a loom for the very first time or looking to build on your existing needle felt skills, my goal is to make learning feel relaxed, encouraging, and enjoyable. I want you to leave each class not only with a finished project you're proud of, but also with the confidence to keep creating long after the lesson ends.
