Share your paintings!

1. Watch the entire class first to familiarize yourself with the process. Then, go through each video at your own pace to follow along. Feel free to pause the videos during each step to give you the time you need to complete that phase of the painting.

2. Create a nature illustration using both watercolor and gouache. We’ll be combining a plant and an animal into one simple composition. You can use the provided snail and blackberry reference photos or combine a plant and animal photo of your own.

3. Take a photo of your work and submit it to the Student Project Gallery. Feel free to share in-process photos and any roadblocks you faced during the process. We can't wait to see what you make!

Does this project feel too complex for you right now? Don't worry... you have two other options!

1. Rosalie demonstrates the painting process of combining watercolor and gouache to paint a tropical leaf early on in the class. You can always download that reference photo and paint the tropical leaf instead!

2. Instead of combining a plant and animal together, you can focus on just one subject (a plant or an animal) if that feels like a better fit for your skill level right now.
