Assignment:

Your class project is to fill in a coloring page digitally, on your iPad. Increase the color and decrease your stress! You can either use one of the 7 free PNG coloring pages that I have designed and shared with you, or you can use a downloaded coloring page of your own. Feel free to color and share more than one of the freebies!

Materials:

iPad
Procreate 5X App (All brushes used in this class are already in Procreate)
Apple Pencil or Your Finger
PNG Coloring Page or Jpeg Coloring Page (PNG files are a bit easier to work with)
Color Palette (Optional)

Getting Started:

Download your coloring page of choice (or all of them) and make sure to watch the Canvas Settings Video in order to import your coloring page and make your coloring page a reference layer. Without that important step, this process won't work quite right.

Next work your way through the following coloring tutorials to start filling in your page with lots of color and magical touches. We start with the drop fill technique and then color by hand to add in highlights, shadows, and plenty of texture.

Note: I have kept almost the entire coloring process in the class videos for those that really want to see the entire process from start to finish (especially if you are newer to Procreate or digital art), but please feel free to skip ahead, pause, and/or rewatch parts as needed. I know some folks love to see the whole process when possible. Some of the videos can get kind of long, so again - feel free to skip ahead once you feel you have grasped the concept well enough to complete your coloring page.

TROUBLESHOOTING:

Color Fill is Overflowing To The Whole Screen: You need to adjust your color fill threshold. I show you how to fix this in the Coloring Part 1 video.
Coloring Page Lines Aren't Completed so drop fill doesn't work: If you are running into an area on your coloring page where you cannot use the drop fill tool because the linework on the coloring page isn't completely closed - select your coloring page reference layer > grab the studio pen under the inking section > choose black as your color > now close that line on the coloring page layer with the studio pen. Boom. All fixed. Get back off of the coloring page layer and go back to filling in that section on the appropriate layer. I show you how to fix this problem at the end of the Coloring Part 1 video.
