Hi, I'm Cindy.

I’m a user experience researcher at LexisNexis in Raleigh, NC, working to simplify legal research.

I enjoy the creative problem-solving involved in figuring out the best research technique to use for a given design question, and then crafting each study in such a way to get at the study's goals effectively. Remote usability testing is a technique that comes in handy often because it allows you to connect with participants who represent your users in many locations. I have written several articles about usability testing and working with stakeholders for UXMastery.

I started my UX career as a designer at a small startup called Motricity, and then moved on to working as a researcher for iContact, an email marketing company, followed by BB&T (Branch Banking & Trust), User-View, Inc., and Fidelity Investments before LexisNexis. In my first career, I was an editor, writer and page designer for daily newspapers and nonprofits.

Outside of work, I enjoy hanging out with my husband and daughter, leading a Girl Scout troop, hiking and biking, and reading historical fiction.
