Joining the fearless art challe/nge workshop on 22nd Feb.

Everything in the intro video resonates with me. I am too restricted in my art, my brain focuses on accuracy rather than creativity. I struggle to draw without a specific goal.

I'll be working digitally on my iPad.

Looking forward to sharing with others.

Day 1 Journey. Sometimes it feels I'm burdened with too much baggage!

Day 2 Cloud-watching. This is refreshingly out of my comfort zone. Not sure if I'm thrilled with the results but it's all a part of the process. I did a couple. The original (eyes closed) squiggle is on the left and the result on the right.

Day 3 Feelin' Slow. This was a really interesting exercise for me. I wanted to keep it quite abstract, and it took a long time to do ultra slowly. I did find eating dinner afterward I was very deliberate with each bite and very mindful of tastes and textures!

Day 4 Shakin' it up. As well as energy in brush strokes I chose an energetic topic and colour scheme. Was fun. A whole lot less controlled than normal.

Day 5 Metamorphosis. Really enjoyed this and wanted to avoid the obvious actual metamorphosis. I've done a bunch of other classes on drawing faces and I feel that show in this image. Quite pleased with it.

Day 7 crowd of creatures. Got a bit bug's life with this one

Day 8 All the colours. Beginning to think colour is not my thing. Really struggled with inspiration for this one. I think it ties in with my struggle for inspiration. The less specific the instruction, the more difficult it is for me to work out what to do!

Day 9 Flatten it out. Another challenge for me but I quite like the naive style this produced. Quite graphical/illustrative.

Day 11 Transform Me. I didn't care for the 2nd metamorphosis piece so decided to rework it some. And you know what? I still don't like it!

Day 12 Structure. ~Really tried to push the perspective on this piece. I consciously chose not to use Procreate's automatic features to do straight lines and perfect circles to get a bit more of that hand-finished feel. Not sure how successful it is, but I don't hate it, and hey, colour!

Day 13 Take 2. This was a bit of a struggle to combine two of the pictures and make something new. I don't think I quite achieved the goal but quite like what I did. I chose Metamorphosis and Thread and basically did a Thread version of the first Metamorphosis picture. With all the threads connecting the butterflies, I think it actually gives it a greater feeling that the butterflies are a part of her head and are taking off.

I had no idea what it was going to end up as but drew a couple of the strands and immediately saw corals. Maybe a bit obvious but I went with it. Added a little splash of colour too. Fearlesss, honestly! :-| - image 16 - student project
