Hi everyone !

This new challenge motivates me sooo much that I want to do it through the whole month of May ! And because I’m really excited, I created my own sketchbook (for the first time !) using my Baohong sheets of watercolor paper that I was sadly not using (because I always practice in my sketchbooks).

Let’s gooooo !!

This is my first sketch ! A mug I found on Pinterest. I draw a fine line with a watercolor pencil and then full pink in watercolor ! I used watercolor pencils for the cherrys.

Today I took one of my mugs as a model. My sketchbook is a mix of smooth and rough paper and today it was rough paper so I wanted to play with granulating watercolor. I used the beautiful Outremer, Moonglow and Hématite Genuine by Daniel Smith, and a brown watercolor pencil. I loooove these granulations !!

One of my coffee cups at home, my favorite actually, it’s japanese, I bought it on a market in Paris.

I tested my watercolor stick by Daniel Smith, Serpentine genuine, with a bit of Desert green, amazing color by Schminke. I did a background in Volcano Violet (Schminke). I love granulating colors so much !

And I tried white gouache for the first time.

This one is my favorite mug, I bought it during my summer holidays in the Alps.
I had a lot of fun doing this one, with the cute marmot and the flowers ! I draw them with a brown waterproof pen.
And I used again the Volcano Violet, amazing color. I loved using watercolor pencils for the flowers and the outline.

The shape is not perfect but who cares !

Okay, can you guess I never used pastel before ?! ^^

This was my first time drawing something with water soluble wax pastels (Caran d’Ache). I wanted to create a shade but it’s very very messy !! But how fun it was to use it !! I love the feeling of wax pastels. It’s really not great at the end but it was such a pleasure that I love it anyway.

I was very tired for this one so I made it quick.
I started with brown and pink watercolor pencils, then I did the shadow with watercolor. I added some crosshatching with watercolor pencils in the shadow but I’m not very satisfied. Anyway, I really was tired !! ^^

As I forgot my sketchbook, I did this one on Magnani watercolor paper. It’s a bit weird I know ! I wanted to try something around the cup, with watercolor pastel, it’s strange but it was fun to try ! I kinda like the shadow.

Tea cup challenge ! - image 11 - student project I found a beautiful cup on Pinterest, this doesn’t quite reveals the beauty of it but it was good practice to add a plate underneath ! I know the shadow is off, should have done one on the plate, maybe I’ll fix this later.

Tea cup challenge ! - image 12 - student project I found this cute mug on Pinterest and I wanted to try some colors from a little French brand called « Jardin d’aquarelle », but the colors reacted weirdly. They dried very fast, it was strange. I think this is my least favorite but I enjoyed painting little white Flowers with white gouache !

Tea cup challenge ! - image 13 - student project Honestly I didn’t paint yesterday, sundays can go by too fast !

So I did two cups this morning ! I found them on Pinterest.
for this brown one I wanted to play with granulating watercolors. At the end I tried to add pink but it was too weird so I removed most of it.

This mug is so cute with the blue ducks !! I did something simple, drawing ducks with watercolor pencils when it was still wet, and watercolor pencils cross hatching in the shadow.

3 mini cups for today ! I want to learn how to use (water)color pencils so I started to practice with little cups. I used water in the blue and the green ones, I really like the texture of these pencils !

Very simple form and just one color, the beautiful Desert Green by Schmincke. I added some pink splashes and a pink outline. I just love to watch the granulation !

A little bit of color pencils practice ! I find it so hard !! Harder than watercolor. I want to learn a lot about this medium, I love how it looks, but I feel like a complete beginner ^^

With again my favorite coffee cup. Again I draw it entirely with watercolor pencils and then I used a little bit of water all over. I really like this one ! I dare to use a bright orange for the shadow and I’m happy with it !

It was our 6 year wedding anniversary with my husband so I draw the coffee mug the mayor offered us when we got married ! I made it BIG lol and it’s a bit tilted, the outline in blue is too thick but I like the little drawing in watercolor pencil.

For this one I wanted to make something quick, intuitive, without thinking too much. The shadow is so weird ^^ but I like the result anyway ! With a touch of golden pen, that makes all the difference <3

I did the cup yesterday and the white gouache details today. It’s one of your cup Barbara ! Not a good idea to do the white line on the bottom after the shadow but I like this cup with a gorgeous granulation !

I was a bit disappointed with this one so … I made another one ^^ I had one page left in my homemade sketchbook !

Thanks again for the inspiration and the tips Barbara, it was amazing to practice everyday and I really hope I’ll keep on practicing regularely. Doing a cup everyday gave me the opportunity to play with my art supplies and to experiment.
