I have completed all the class projects and have the paintings ready to share along with prelim sketches to present my whole process. I have two completed windows and a third which is a pencil sketch which I will paint soon. Looking forward to your feedback. I am eager to keep improving!

I didn’t like the monochromatic vibe from the reference. This look transports me back to Provence in the middle of summer. I tried to incorporate all the class lessons here. The smaller scale forced me to use paint and water properly.

and lastly the pencil sketch that I’ll paint once I get some brick painting practice in.

I am working my way through the lessons. Rather than rushing through to the finish I am trying to get a basic skill level on each of the concepts. So I will build on the project here as I go.

So step one is controlling the wash and learning how to get the correct ratios of water and pigment to achieve the result I want. After pages and pages of squares with gradients and transitions I tried to see if I could do a painting that focused on that ability and demanded the use of one colour with various tones. I’m happy with the result (even though it’s not a window) and am ready to tackle the second half of the class. The proportion and perspective are a bit off, but I believe I am starting to get a feel for colour and brush control.

Did some practice and window work over the weekend by visiting some of the older buildings near my home to see if I could find any thing of interest. This incorporates everything I’ve learnt in the Urban Sketch series. Lastly, I’ll focus on the final project window and upload when complete.
