Download the Student Project Guide in the project section of this class to gain access to all of the different projects you can choose to tackle in this course.

Project #1
Create a Cohesive Social Media Campaign

The video at the end of the social media section will give you a wonderful visual based guide to this project.

Project Requirements:
Create at least two social media posts graphics (of any kind) that maintain the same look, feel and branding.

You may choose to use the travel loop brand provided in the course, or try your hand at your own real or fictitious company.

The goal is to maintain your theme and concept in different social media channels so you can make sure your campaign is flexible and adaptable. Feel free to use the templates provided to get an idea on a general size for your posts. (YouTube Cover photos are also welcomed as well)

I held a monthly design challenge with my students and had over 50+ amazing student project submissions. I reviewed all of them in this helpful review video. You can check it out in two places. I hold one of these every month with different project challenges, so stay tuned for the next one!

Project #2
Create an E-book Cover

Use the provided template and links in the resource guide to get a good idea on sizes for your e-book cover.

Project Requirements:
Create an eye-catching e-book cover complete with a title and author name. You can choose to recreate the project in the course or try your hand at creating an e-book cover for another existing book.

Think about where your e-book cover will exist and how you have to capture the viewer using high contrast colors, a wonderful simple theme and clean readable typography.

As an added bonus (not a requirement) you can to apply your e-book cover to a photo and create your own custom mock-up.

Project #3
Digitize a hand drawn asset

Project Requirements:
I want you to hand sketch anything imaginable on paper or in a digital sketching app. A funny character, a logo symbol, hand written typography and bring it into Adobe Illustrator and vectorize that asset to create something scalable.

Watching the Digitizing Sketches section will be helpful in learning pen tool tricks. Do not forget about that hand curvature tool!

Project #4
Create a full icon set

Project Requirements:
The downloadable grid template in this section will be very helpful in getting you started. The template contains 16 different icon areas but only 6 are required for this project (but you can still create as many as you would like!).

I want you to create an icon set that belongs together visually somehow. They have some sort of connected theme like color, stroke weight, theme etc.

You are not required to export your icons for this project but it is nice to watch that section of the course just in case these icons need to be created in the required sizes for use on programs, websites etc.

I do want you to present your whole icon set in one page, so we can see how all of your icons are connected thematically.

Suggestions and ideas for your Icon set theme: (You do not have to use this list, just a suggestion for those struggling with ideas)

Travel Company Icons (Umbrella, wine glass, airplane, map etc.)
General Navigation Symbols (arrows, download icons, menu icon etc.)
Icon Set for Children’s Company (Baby bottle, pacifier, blocks etc.)
Icon Set for an E-Commerce store (sale tag, money icon, sale badge etc.)

Project #5
Create a landing Page using Wordpress or Adobe Xd

Project Requirements:
For your last project, I want you to create a landing page for a travel company. You do not have to use the already existing travel company brand used in the course, but you are free to do so. You can create this layout using Adobe Xd, Wordpress or even Photoshop if that is what you feel comfortable doing.

I want you to create a landing page that has the basic elements:

An attention grabbing headline and Hero image (Photo or Video)
Use a few icons somewhere in the layout
Have at least a three column layout section somewhere in your layout
Design a footer and menu system
A main call to action button that drives the user to “do something”
