In this class, you’re going to be creating a pretty hand embroidered wreath of roses with a monogram in the centre. Even if you’re a complete beginner to hand embroidery or stitching, I will show you everything you’ll need to know to be up and stitching in no time. This pretty project will be framed in a 4” embroidery hoop, ready to hang. You can display this project in your own home or office, and it also makes a great gift. You will learn the following:

- how to select your materials and what you’ll need

- how to transfer your pattern to your fabric

- preparing to stitch with basics such as threading your needle and cutting your floss to the right length

- how to do three basic embroidery stitches for the hoop (backstitch, leaf stitch and woven wheel roses)

- how to finish off the back of your hoop with felt and the blanket stitch

MATERIALS NEEDED:

Fabric for embroidering onto (fine linen or cotton), 7" x 7"
Felt for backing, 4" x 4"
4" embroidery hoop
Embroidery needle
Scissors
Embroidery floss (four colours -- DMC 4030, 3607, 3832, 3799 recommended)
Straight pins
Water soluble pen or Frixion pen
Sewing thread (can match felt colour)
Printed pattern (download below and print)
