Create your own Whimsical Character!

In this assignment, you will illustrate a full whimsical character. You will need to come up with your own idea for what character you're creating. Will it be a human or an animal? What about an object? By using the techniques in this class you’ll be able to convey a sense of story and personality in your character! Whatever their story and personality are up to you to create!

The Class:

Getting ideas: I’ll teach you how I get new ideas when I have an artist block and how I use references to further expand my ideas. A small exercise to get your ideas going.

Breaking down your reference: I’ll show you to break down your references and turn them into something new.

Sketching out your character: I’ll give you a small exercise to help you think outside the box.

It’s all about colors: a quick overview on how to use color to enhance your character and learn how to make your own simple color palette.

Putting it all together: I’ll show you how to put all the past lessons together to complete your Character.

At the end of this class, you will have a colorful and unique character you created from scratch that you can share with the world!

Once you finish your project upload it to the class community for everyone else to see! You should feel proud of yourself for creating an amazing character!

After the first month, I’ll be picking my favorites and putting them on my Instagram. After that, I’ll post my favorites on my stories every week!

I’ll also be giving back critiques/feedback when I can!

I will have my references breakdown available to download and the color palette I use. Along with all the small exercises and my sample file.
