Paint a Still-life with no perspective but filled with life and dynamism!

In this class, you will be able to develop your own unique illustration style while following fun exercises. We will:

Get inspired by the work of other artists and learn about design principles and how to make your illustration seem more flat in the "Destroy the Illusion of Space" lesson.
Learn about and apply composition rules while Arranging and Shooting Your Elements.
Work on our line quality with a Warm up exercise to create loose and confident lines.
Proceed to Simplify and Tweak our Scene, this step will allow us to use complex objects as we will be breaking them down in simple geometric shapes.
After having our composition down and Sketching it, we will start testing out Color Combinations and learning about color theory.
Finally, we will start Coloring and Adding Details using Mixed Media. We will differentiate between the background and foreground with the materials that we choose.

For this class, you only need a few materials and do not worry if you do not have these exact ones, I will teach you strategies to create art, so you can use any material you like.

Materials:

Mixed Media Paper (180g and up)

Pencil and Eraser

Gouache or Acrylic paint

Pencil, Wax or Oil pastels

And some Objects you would like to paint

I have also made sure to include a booklet in the Project Resources filled with Artworks and Artists for you to get inspired by!

The final result will be your very own personalized still life in your unique style:

with no perspective
with simplified shapes
with bold and strong color combinations
made using mixed media and experimenting with it!

I would love for you to document your still life creating process and post it in the project gallery! You are welcome to do all these exercise in a sketchbook in order to keep them all together. And of course don’t forget to share your final still-life or all your still-life variations!
