The biggest step in Sketchbooking, is to get started with a sketchbook.

Our class project will be to overcome the fear of the blank page and blank book, by diving in and creating our first two beautiful pages together.

In the process, we will destroy all the negative preconceptions our inner critic might have provided, and we will learn drawing and painting and lettering tips painlessly by using what we learn as we learn it.

Future classes in this series will explore different types of page ideas and layouts so you can keep going to complete your book.

No drawing skills are necessary, but if you already draw well, you can just do a fancier job!

Your Assignment

You will determine what "Clouded Thoughts" keep you from being able to jump right into a blank sketchbook page, and make them into beautiful color clouds so you can blow them away.

You will draw simple, everyday things, first with pencil, then with ink.

You will make watercolor washes for backgrounds, and high intensity watercolor applications to make your drawings stand out from their backgrounds.And you will create a second page with "Uplifting Thoughts" that will send you on your way to a great sketchbooking adventure.
