1. Welcome - All About YouTube: Hello and welcome to the creative millennial Skillshare channel. I'm Dylan, a YouTuber with 48,600 subscribers, and I've been making YouTube videos for about five years now. So a very long time. You can see some of my videos on screen right now, I regularly upload and a key part of my growth success is my titles, my descriptions, my tags, and my thumbnails. In today's class, I'm going to be telling you exactly how I titled my videos, how I run my descriptions, and how I use tags to rank in the search engines, to also many helped my videos get seen by people and to help them rank within the YouTube algorithm. So if you are into YouTube, if you're a beginner, intermediate or advanced, this is definitely going to be a very helpful class for you. So stay tuned and let's jump into it. 2. The YouTube Algorithm: So before we jump home with the learning and jump into the class is where I'm going to teach you all about YouTube titles, descriptions, and tags for success on YouTube, I think is fast great to understand why this class is going to be useful to your YouTube journey and how is going to help you going forward. So you've probably heard about the YouTube algorithm where basically, if you can hit the key points in the algorithm that computes a kinda things, hey, this video seems good. This is what the audience and the viewers, essentially looking for on YouTube. Let's match it. The algorithm matches what the viewer is looking for to the content that is out there on YouTube. So if you can master the YouTube algorithm, then the algorithm itself, It's going to make sure that your content is being delivered to everybody who wants it and who needs it. So essentially, it is basically the top of the vessel that carries your video from being on your channel to the viewer. If you don't master the YouTube algorithm, it is very unlikely. You're gonna get a lot of US. It's very unlikely that you're going to show in the YouTube search engine. And that is really what you want to be doing, especially if you're looking to grow on YouTube or make it a full-time sort of thing. So for example, if I'm on YouTube, I could go up to the search bar and I can search UK university. I've done it before, but as soon as I start sharing, my channel is solely based around UK university at the moment. And thank goodness, one of the first two videos that pop up under this category are two videos that I have made UK university tear list in my opinion, the new UK university rankings. Now, the reason why these two videos ranked first when you search UK university, because I've altered the description which is here, the title and the tags of that video to essentially allow it to pop up first on the search engine. Meaning that when anybody searches for UK university, UK university degrees, university or so on, my video is going to be recommended them, it's going to pop up. And thus they are likely to essentially click on my videos and likely to, I'm likely to get a view from it. So today I'm going to be teaching you exactly how I've managed to do this. Literally I'm all over, I'm everywhere. And how this is obviously led to my growth and how you can do the same. So let's jump into class 1. Thank you. 3. Successfully Title your YouTube Videos: Okay, so class one, obviously when you decide to upload your video, you had over here, you click the video icon, you click Upload video. Once you've clicked the Upload Video button, it will take you to the YouTube studio. And in this you will basically see the screen here where your video starts to upload. You'll get a link, you'll get a little preview. And it will essentially tell you to write a title, write a description. And then if we go down here, we can see tags that will recommend that you add tags. So to start with Class 1, we are going to be looking at what you should put in the title of your videos. So for example, there is a key theme in my thumbnails and my titles. I'm showing you exactly what the title is saying in the thumbnail. So basically, the title of your video has to relate to what your video is about. So let us say I was making a video all about the UK university rankings. Now I would think of fast as I started right out my title, what are the key was that people are going to be searching for in the YouTube search bar, which is looks exactly like this. Let me bring it up right here. There is going to enable my video to ranking in the search engine. So people might search, you know, UK, universities, 2022, people might such that. So then instantly, I'm going to think about this is a term that is searched for a lot. How can I possibly incorporate that heavily searched for time in the title of my new video. So I might just start with UK university rankings 2022. Now, this does a very decent job of just explaining what the video is. However, doesn't kind of add an incentive for people to quite click on the video yet because it's like it's just going to show you a picture. The university rankings. We've got the key words, UK university, university rankings, UK university rankings, and 2022, we've incorporated the key what and that is the key to a good title. You have to include. He was the way I find the best way to find keywords is I'm going to show you in a second, is using the search bar. But again, we're just going to add low reacting to to UK universities 2022. Because this basically incentivizes people to watch the video because they know they're going to get my opinion, I'm gonna react to all of these top universities. And that's quite interesting and entertaining. And they're also going to see my university, the university rankings. So you've got two sides to it. You've got the thing that is going to encourage people to click on it, which is the reacting to. And then you've obviously got the informational side of things which people are going to be searching for in the search bar. University rankings 2022. So for example, you can see here top universities 2022 is a heavily searched for such thing. And my video comes up straight away because that is what I've roughly included, entitle them keywords people might also searched for UK university. Now this is again, a heavily searched for time. I've already, and again, this video ranks about third. Now, how do I know is heavily searched for time? Because if I just type in UK space, these such things come up straightaway. Universities, universities for international students, UK top universities. Now, these are three times that people have been searching for so much in the search bar that YouTube decide that you're probably going to search for this. And so they recommend that. So by typing in a few key words around the theme of your video, you're gonna start to realize what the key was offered, the topic of your video. Now let's say use uploading a video about medicine. We can say is medicine UK medicine degree, medicine UK university. So really what the first step is, is for you to write down the key was that are associated with your video topic. They are going to be useful for the tags, description, and title. But today in this class we're focusing on title. So you want to include the main key words that explain what your video is doing and that are in the suggested search by YouTube search engine list, like I just showed you, in order for your video to rank highly on the search engine. So for this, I might also add best and worst UK universities, because again, people search for this. We've got best, best, best universities, wash Universities, UK universities, all in the same topic, which is obviously very, very good. And that pretty much summarizes how you're going to go about creating a size of your video. 4. YouTube Video Descriptions (KEY!): So welcome to class two descriptions. Now, the descriptions as much the extended version of the title except you go into a tiny bit more detail. Now, the reason why the description is as key as titling for gaining viewers and for ranking in the YouTube algorithm. Is that the key words in your description or key phrases this time are going to be what people said for in the YouTube search bar as we talked about in Lost Cause. And then phrases are exactly what you want to type in your description, except you want to make it flow and a sort of way that made sense and at the same time describes a video in a bit more detail. So let's take a look at this same example as last time, reacting to university rankings 2022, best and washed UK universities. Now to start with, people search for, for example, UK universities, you'd want to include a few UK universities and it's in the description of this video to show you exactly what else you'd include if you want to rank highly in the search engine, because I've already shown you this video here ranks in every aspect of the search engine. It's been performing well. You can see that my actual description, I kept it nice and show I've kept it realistically to split paragraphs. Let's just copy and paste the over 2 so I can show you the breakdown of this one. So I say this is officially the UK university rankings and league tables. So 2022. In that sentence alone, you've got officially UK university rankings, UK university rankings, league tables, university li tables, lead tables for 2020 to UK university li tables. There is so many walk he was in that opening sentence. As I showed you anything around that topic, This video is going to run Kylie. So I react to the biggest movers, universities that are up and coming. Russell Group universities. Key what? Universities that are falling down? The lead tables, 2022 key what? The University of Cambridge key, the University of Oxford keyword, and so on, I tell also is great for any students deciding what universities to go to. Again, that is exactly what people searched for. So the takeaway for me showing you this example is that the video you're creating has a theme. The title is going to include a part of that theme, but it's going to be very brief. Then as soon as you expand to the description you want to type out tonight, nice paragraphs, Let's say keep it short and sweet. Including loss of key was and key phrases that you think people are going to Saj. So in the title, we just had the keywords essentially in the description. This is when if you want to rank on the YouTube algorithm, you start to include and turn those key words into sentences. You start to use those key words in sentences, loss of different sentences, and so on. And then you might also this more advanced, but outside of the actual video, you can include some free links to, links to your other classes, causes your other channels and other stuff like I've done. And I've got a bit of an About Me section. But really this class is all about ranking highly in the search engine. And so rank highly, you must include the key was by expand upon them. He was. So for example, let's go back to my channel. Let's take a look at another video. Let's go on my most popular videos so we can see what one's really truly walked. Let's say insane a level math tag. This is from four years ago. I probably was nowhere near, as you know, adapt in YouTube stuff as I am now. We can see even from back in the day, insane LFO mass hack, factorising hack, how to factorize a cubic or quadratic or anything else using a calculator. And it tip for GCSE maths, insane TIF a level maths, mainly a level maths, all a level math students must watch. So you can see I'm really, one targeting is really unique. I'm targeting people that are trying to get better eye level maths that people want to learn how to use a calculator hack people that want to learn how to factorise. And essentially this right here is short and sweet, but it's done the job because it's got a 162 thousand views on this video because of this title and because of this description. Now you can also, I'd say include three relevant hashtags. If you would like to feel video to pop up here. As you can see, I've done my GCSE results, GCSEs 2016, GCSE results. Again, however, it's not as relevant as some people might think. So for example, you could, and I could just add a hashtag, university rankings here. And I could actually do that on the actual uploaded version. So you might just pops up at the top of the video in case anybody such as for the hashtag, university rankings, university rankings. And then that will pop up at the start of your video. Now another key thing that you can do in the description that will help generate more views for your channel and apparently helps the YouTube algorithm is that let's say you have a video that can easily be split up into different sections. So for example, recently I made a video where I talked about my acne. Now obviously going through and you can see it's got 20000 views, that's really good. And at the bottom here you can see that I've got different timestamps. If you take a look at the description, I've got timestamps tossing and 0. If it getting acne, then my journey then Accutane side effects and then my skin care routine. And people can click and jumped section to section. Adding in sections is a great way to split up your content for your viewers and for YouTube to recognize what the actual true content of your video is. As soon as they see the wide acne Accutane, accutane side effects. Skincare in my video description especially separates it by the time tags. And this sort of separation by the algorithm picks up on what the content of your video is. And thus they'll promote that content to the people that are trying to find that same content. So for example, my university rankings video, I get the zeros 0000. Make a coat on, I believe is let's just double-check that. Is it a code on yes, colon? And then my chapter one could be welcome. Then my next one might be a no 0.50 seconds. And this could be UK top universities. And if you split down your video in the description into timestamps, and these timestamps are reflective of your content. And again, try to include a few key words. Then YouTube will start to recognize your video in the search engine even more. And the description is a great place to generate traffic and to just the rank in the search engine. So again, this is the sort of things you want to be including in your description and elaborate a key words and sentences that flow nicely. Again, we know how to find them, we know how to kind of integrate them smoothly. Hashtags such as university rankings or any other hashtags related to your field. And then some nice breakdown of timestamps so that you use, you can identify your content. And then finally, if you want, you can include some personal stuff and so on. So that is close to done over an hour. This is really going to help you, trust me. Thank you. 5. Writing YouTube Video Tags!: So finally in this final clause, I wanted to take a look at tags. Now tags all kind of an old school element of YouTube videos. Why back in the day? The main influence of whether your video is going to be in the YouTube search engine and algorithm was tags. Supposedly nowadays you to place more emphasis on descriptions and titles, which is why spend more time going over them then tags. It's always good to Agile videos to a playlist. So please do that. But essentially tags you want to copy and paste or rise of new ones. The key was from your title and description. Simply copy and paste them down into your tag section of the video. Really fill up the tags to 500 if you can, to make sure you've got kind of all the keywords and phrases that are in unrelated to your video. Exactly like descriptions, exactly like titles. It's exactly the same except you just get a chance to include some different key phrases. If you download a few vidIQ plugins, you can refresh the tags on the vidIQ plug-in and get some recommended tags at them. And it's really as simple as that. Just make sure you don't cheap out and make sure you do do it because although not as important as before, they are still very useful. We can see on my video that ranks pretty much very highly on the YouTube search engine. When it loads. The I rank often 123. I rank a lot on the YouTube algorithm, especially if a UK university. And the reason why I've ranked very highly is because of my description, because of my tags, and so on. So for example, in this video that ranks on the search engine, we can see I've used up all the tag space with so many tags that have hashtags next to them because they rank in the search engine. And really just finding the key words and phrases and other economists tags is precisely what you want to do. And it will help you massively get impressions, impressions on YouTube. But when they show you a video, it's people, and that is ultimately what leads the views. So make sure you buy loss of tags, take the key was at the ER and lots of different stuff and hopefully that will rank. So tags, the same formats, descriptions and titles, just take a mix of both some keywords and key phrases and then plug them into the tag section. Save, boom, ready for the next. Thank you. 6. The Class project: So thank you for watching this class. For the class project, I would like you to choose a video. You have a YouTube video, a normal video, and either create or rewind, rewrite that you should title for the video, the YouTube description for the video and YouTube tags, and then add those tags, descriptions, and titles to the class project section on the Skillshare course. Then I'll review and give you feedback and talk about some things you could add to really hit the YouTube algorithm and now healthfully. And that will hopefully help you massively only YouTube journey. And please feel free to add link to a channel. And I'll definitely be sure to check it out. So thank you. 7. Conclusion & Thank You!: So there you have a guys today I've taken you through the YouTube algorithm, the titles of your videos, the description and the tags. There are classes all my other, oh, my channel and how to edit videos, how to create YouTube thumbnails on my main Skillshare channel. How to set up from scratch future tunnel, how to do a whole most clause.
