1. Introduction: Hello, everyone. Welcome to this fun and creative class where you will learn how to create humchamhi inspired Candles. My name is Perminder and I'm thrilled to have you join me on this journey of combining art and tradition. As a passionate candle makekr, I have always loved finding inspirations in everyday life. And what better use in the delightful hem chum M tai. Them tum also known as hom chum is a traditional Indian sweet that hails from the eastern region of India, particularly Bengal. So in this class, you will discover how to craft candles that are not only fragrant and functional, but also look good enough to eat. Just kidding. Whether you are a seasonal candle maker or trying your hand at it for the first time, this class has something for everyone. So roll up your sleeves, spark your creativity, and dive into the world of dessert inspired candles. 2. Material Needed: Hello, everyone. Before we get started, let's talk about some of the supplies we are going to need to complete this project. First one is induction or gastroe which we need to melt our wax. Then a stainless steel, large pen to set up our dower booiler. This will be our base container. Then we need a stainless steel, small pen or a mug. To place it in the doubt booiler, I mean the big pen. Then we need soy wax that we will take 70 to 75 grams. This is our kitchen scale that we will use to measure our waxes. We also need some disposable cups. We can take three or four cups. This is steric acid, that we need two teaspoons. This is very important to hot in the soy wax. We also need some spoons and stirrers to stir the wax, also to mix fragrance and pigments in the wax. This is kitchen thermometer. You can use temperature gun as well. It is very essential for safe and successful candle making. You need to know when the wax is at right temperature for pouring. This is potted pigment. In today's class, we need three colors yellow, red and green. You can use liquid pigments as well. Next is fragrant soil. Here I'm using orange fragrant soil. You can use any fragrant soil you like. Gloves. Gloves protect your hands from hot waxes and chemicals. So always wear gloves to protect your hands from the hot waxes or fragrant soil. So safety first. Heat can is very helpful for removing any air bubbles on the candle surface or smoothing out imperfections. It is also used to stick decorative elements like silver leaves. Next, we need knife to cut chamjumblls into two halves. Silver flakes are used for decoration. If they are large, then tear them into small pieces. Next, we need a toothpick or a needle to make a hole in the chem chum balls to insert the wick. Toothpik is also needed to roll the upper part of the wick. Then we need a wick with a sustainer. You can take three inch long wick. This is all about the material. See in the next module. 3. Melting Soy Wax: Hello, everyone. Et's start with the Duwoiler method. For that, I have taken a large pan with some water in it. I will place it on a hot plate. Here you can see water is just one fourth of the pan. It's not full. Now I'm taking a stainless steel mug with some soya wax in it. I'm placing it in the double boiler. I mean, in the bigger pen. See, the wax has started to melt. Let it melt gradually. And this process will take around ten to 15 minutes. Stir occasionally if needed. Now it's time to add steric acid. I have taken two heaped teaspoons of steric acid. It helps hardening the wax and prevents it from breaking later. 4. Adding Fragrance and Mixing: As you can see, wax has melted completely. Now, let's check the temperature. I'm using a temperature gun to check it. The temperature should be between 70 degrees Celsius and 80 degrees Celsius. See, look at the temperature. Perfect. Or wax temperature is 73 degrees Celsius. So I switch off my hot plate. It's time to remove the soya wax pan from the double boiler. And placing it on a kitchen towel. Yeah, now for the fragrance, I'm using orange fragrance for my chim chim candle. You can use any fragrance of your choice. I added ten drops of it to the melted wax. Mix it well, so the scent blends in evenly. 5. Adding Yellow Pigment: Next, we move on to measuring the wax for shaping. For that I have taken a disposable cup. I'm placing it on a kitchen scale. I put it on. Now you see the weight displayed here is zero gram. Next, I will pour around 70 to 75 grams of wax into the cup. This amount will be used to create two chum chum pieces of 35 gram each. You can increase or decrease the size by adding or reducing the wax, since we are going to make yellow chum chum with orange fragrance, so we need to add yellow potted dye. Here I have taken around one fourth teaspoon of die. One important thing here if you are using powdered color, mix it thoroughly to ensure that there are no granules left. Here is a pro tip. It's always better to mix powdered dye into some oil first. You can use any non fragrant oil like refined oil, cooking oil. After that, you can add it directly into the wax. Now we will check the shade. To test the color, put a small drop of wax on a white paper. This will show the actual shade once the wax goes down. Yeah, looks great. So no need to add more yellow. It's fine. Completely fine. 6. Preparing Yellow Wax and Forming the Cham Cham Shape: Once mixed, let the wax cool slightly until it thickens to a scopable consistency. Not too thick, not too loose, just for cable. Now, carefully take the wax out of the cup and place it on a paper. Divide it into two equal portions and then roll each portion gently into elongated ball to mimic the chemtm shape. Lightly press the wax to shape it, but avoid applying too much pressure. It's very easy to shape it as the wax is still very soft. Gently press from all sides with your fingers and do it very, very carefully. See, it's looking so pretty. Now for the next one, repeat the same procedure. Yeah, one important thing here, always wear gloves to protect your hands from the hot axes or fragrant soils. So safety first. A 7. Creating the Sandwich Effect: Once firm, carefully cut each ball into halves using knife to create two parts. However, if you notice cracks forming or the wax breaks, don't worry. Simply rub the wax gently with your fingertips. Or just join these pieces together, press them lightly. See, it's so easy to fix them. Isn't it? Now rub gently with your fingertips or thumb, and it will smooth out beautifully. Similarly, cut the second one as well very carefully and slowly. No need to hurry. Yeah, Wi Lovely. Oh 8. Adding White Creamy Wax Layer: Now allow the species to harden properly. While the yellow part set, let's prepare the white wax for the middle layer, melt around 15 or 20 grams of soy wax using double boiler method. For the middle layer, we need a soft creamy consistency. Now, let's asample both the halves. Take sufficient amount of wax and apply it evenly on this part. Be sure to cover the surface completely. You can also use your finger to spread the wax, but make sure that the wax is not that hot. Then gently place the other half on the top of this to complete the sandwich. Spread the white wax to fill all the gaps. You can take more wax if required. Fill them nicely. No gap should be visible. I'm spreading it very carefully, very gently. Yeah, it is done. I'm rubbing the surface of this emtum candle with my fingers to remove all the gaps. We will apply the same technique to the second candle, as well. This is a flattened site of yellow emtumPece apply it evenly all over. So I'm placing now the second half onto it. Press slightly gently to secure the pieces together. It's very easy. S. It's looking beautiful. 9. Setting and Final Refinements: Let the assembled emchum x set for about half an hour. This gives a x enough time to solidify properly, ensuring the layers stay intact. So after the x is set, it's time to perfect the finish. Then take the back side of a knife and gently scrape off an excess wax, smoothing out the surface for a clean, polished look. Finally, lightly rub over uneven edges to refine the shape while maintaining the authentic disset like texture. However, if needed, you can also use your fingertips to soften any rough spots or lightly warm the wax to make minor adjustments. This final touch ensures your chum chum candle looks beautiful and professional. 10. Preparing Red and Green Wax For the Decoration: Now let's create red and green wax for the decoration. For that, take two disposable cups and pour about five gram of wax into each. Add red dye to one cup and green dye to the other. Then mix thoroughly until the colors blend evenly. Ensure there are no granules left if using podded dye. Mix well to achieve a smooth, uniform color. Using a spoon, pour small portions of the colored wax onto a sheet of paper. Here you can use butter paper or wax paper as well. Allow the wax to harden slightly. It should be firm, but still soft enough to cut easily. Once the wax has reached the right consistency, cut it into tiny square pieces using a sharp knife. The soft texture will make cutting easy and ensuring clean edges and precise shapes. These decorative wx pieces will be used to enhance the final look of the chum chum candle. 11. Attaching the Decorations: It's time to attach the decorations now. First of all, lightly, soften the upper layer of the hem chum candle using a heat gun. Be careful not to overheat, or it may distort the shape. Quickly place the green and red wx pieces onto the candle and press them lightly to secure them. Repeat this step for both candles to enhance the natural look gently below hot air over it. And quickly place silver leaf specs onto the candle. 12. Inserting, Trimming and Rolling the Wick: Next step is making a hole and inserting the wick. Using a wire or toothpick, carefully make a hole in the center of the candle. Insert the wick into the hole. Wick should be with a sustainer. Press lightly from the bottom to ensure the sustainer stays in place. Next, we trim the wick from the top leaving about 1 " of exposed wi. For decorative purposes, roll the remaining wick using a toothpick to create an elegant look. You, one important point here. Before lighting the candle, trim the wick down to about 1.5 centimeter from the vast for proper burning. So finally, our beautiful chum chum inspite candle is ready. It smells delightful, looks gorgeous and is a perfect handmade creation. 13. Class Project: Thank you so much for joining me in this creative journey of hum chum meti inspite candle making class.
