About This Class

In this class students will see how to work with watercolors when they are outdoors, in the scenery, painting or doing illustration on paper. I'll show them what to prepare and how to plan their trip. Also, they will learn a step by step process of creating watercolor painting on the spot, just looking at what is in front of them. Hopefully that will boost their creativity and make them appreciate working outdoors more than using a photo for a creation of fine art - visual arts.

This class is perfect for all who like to work with watercolors. No prior knowledge or experience required, just the love to create art. By the end, students will have everything they need for their visual communication.

Prepare for your watercolor trip, tell you what their theories are used during this course and give you tips and advice is how to travel light. Finally, if you like some more material, you can check out my previous watercolor course that is painting watercolor landscapes and find out some more about tips and tricks that I used in this one. So have fun creating little colors, and I hope us you soon in the next video. 2. Preparations and materials for creativity and the making of fine art: main difference between painting outdoors and in the comfort of your home or a studio is that you can use on lee materials that you take with you. That is, by good preparation, saves times and make spending more job here, the most common tears that I use when painting orders. What a car pain set. My advice would be to use pocketbook sets off some fell color as their small don't use too much space but also provide good workflow. I prefer using Winston and Newton set in pants because the richness of their color. But you can use products of any other man. Effect what to call brushes different in size and shape. 5 to 10 brushes would be enough to work on your trip. I like to tie them together with a small rubber band or put him in a cardboard tube so that they don't damaged while in a bag or a backpack. Ice cube pens for palate. These are great for mixing colors, and they're easily cleaned when you're done working. But when you're on the move going on another location, throw the access water and put it in the plastic bag until you arrive there both through water. If you use it wisely, you won't need much a small buccal. Let's suffice. They prepared with a hard backside heart surface on the back side of the paper pad is important for having stability while working, so make sure you have one. If not, you can use some light wooden or plastic board to place your paper pencil and rubber a piece of cloth or tissue for wiping and cleaning the brushes back, back or a bag to place all the painting materials off course. When you're going on a painting trip, you should also consider taking additional stuff like hats and glasses, some kind of a sun lotion, musical devices, drinking water or some other beverages. Depending on the location we're going and even a campaign trail. Why not basically more things. You take more options you will have when you start working, but also they might become a burden while walking. So base your list of materials on the way of transportation, meaning you're going by foot, car or public transportation and a duration. Will you go out for a couple of hours half a day over to spend an entire day outside visiting different places. If you can't painted outdoors before you can do a small exercise at home using the materials that you prepared and Onley that paint a view from your window balcony from your backyard, see if you have in everything and if you need it, revised the list of materials. Finally, when you packed and ready to go, think about the light and the subject matter. Detention paint or just go out, listen to your heart and see where drone the leech. Similar to photography. Best time for painting would be in the morning and Lee afternoon, so play. So plan your trip accordingly. That's it for now. And in the next video, I'll walk you through the painting watercolor that you can finish it later. Time in the comfortably studio or a home. 3. Watercolors painting - illustration of the city : Now that you have all the materials ready, head out to location that you would like to paint. For my first stop, I chose a stairway to Port Della Collina di Chateau overlooking the old town of Nice and its narrow streets. Because of many details of the buildings in front of me. I started with the sketch, as you will see in the next image, and then moved on to paint. First I had water where they're sky should be, and then I start to paint. Of course, is always I start with the blue color for the start. That is the way I've before doing, and doing this in large strokes leads why they're brush. I lean a paper a bit so that water in the color slowly flow down next. As you see, I work with photo IDs, clouds in different terrorists that they should be and use it toe slowly and gradually work on the sky area. Next up, As you see, I try to use paper tissue for the clouds, were moving the excess color and giving the clouds that fluffy look. I have all of my materials around me, and they're all within my reach like you see in the video. I prepared it all before I started working. All the colors that I wanted to use are already in the ice pan palette, and that way I can continue the work. Next. Start the green hills in the background. No details, just the main forms of the trees and greenery. And the same thing applies for the mountains in the far back. Big brush. No details this way. They're not much risible at the point. It's just enough to position them at this moment and to know where they are. Next up, I connect those mountains in the far back with the hills, really few strokes and connect them in. Definitely. Next up, I slowly moved down from button from top to bottom of the watercolor and making some rough shapes on the buildings. Better for their away from us. I tried toe. Do it rough. At this stage, we just the main shapes and forms. Move your brush around the color, the around the watercolor, adding consistency to work as well. Do not dwell on any particular area out of painting and try to put colors on many card, slowly building the title work at all at the same time. That way the entire watercolor comes to life. Not just one particular part. And the fact that you already have all the colors ready, United spends or any other pallet that you have helps you to achieve these because these are diluted cause that we're working and they are better for the beginning. But when you need some stronger colors, you use them directly from the set. Of course, he told, depends on the look that you're trying to achieve, but I suggest working from pale colors and pump up the situation of the entire piece. Like I said earlier, I personally like to work with more diluted colors in the beginning and some stronger colors by the end of the work. Of course, the stronger cars are meant for the accents part of the foreground and dominant shapes also try to make similar strokes throughout the painting, achieving the unity of the piece that you're working on that is work some tennis and different terriers using the same stuff, and as you see, I'm adding details on the buildings, making them a bit more visible, adding some details structures, rooftops of buildings in the far, far back, in greenery and in the hills that are way back in the background. The brush is smaller, and now I'm working on windows on both sides of the building that I didn't do. Earlier colors that amusing are mainly the same some blues, greens and reds. At the same time, I'm working with shades on the buildings, leaving the shadows on the foreground and in on the ground for some later time. This way you grow consistency, 20 work, and then you'll move from there. When the most of the work is done, you also switch toe a smaller brush toe. Add details, textures and accents toe. Give tryingto different materials on your painting. In this case, those are facades, trees, rooftops and so on. This first watercolor is meant to be finished in a studio, so if it's a bit rough, it doesn't matter, as it will be finished at a later time. Still, it is important to have all of the main elements in place, and these are the faces of the work and finally finish work with details that are made in the studio. Thanks for watching and see. In the next video, we'll show you how to go about painting the watercolor that I finished within an hour 4. Watercolors painting - bay illustration: From the second watercolor, I chose a view overlooking the port of Nice with its lighthouse. I found a spot that had a lot of trees around so that I wouldn't be exposed to direct sunlight and it had last people walking around. It is good when you find a place like that as you will have last instructions that will keep you away from painting. Still, there were two problems when it started working, so I want to talk about them right away. If you find yourself in a similar situation first I had a fence in front of me that wouldn't look nice on the finished piece. I could have found another place to pain from, but instead I decided not to put it on my work altogether. Instead, I've been to the view that was on the other side, ignoring defense. Secondly, the shoreline was a bit too long for me, and I would have to make a little smaller. My decision was to shorten the shore first, make more space for larger lighthouse, are mentioning this here to let you know from the start that as a painter and not a photographer, you can take certain liberties to express your ideas about the subject matter that you want to portray. Not everything has to be photographically transferred to the paper. It's all about your vision off space, moving on painting. First thing I do is fill big areas in this case, the sea rough and quickly, without worrying about details as they will come later on. There is an old trick painters use when they want to stay clear from details, and here it is. Try squinting your eyes when looking at the subject of your painting. Look through your eyelashes. This way. Everything in front of your eyes will be smudging and without details, and you'll be able to see just the main forms. Skies next, with its fairness and clouds. For this area, I use the same approach as shown in the previous video and by looking through your eyelashes, decided where to put the most of the foliage. From there, I'm using smaller brush, and I start giving variety of color again. I premixed all the colors in the palette, and I suggest you do the same as it will make your work quicker and more fluent. That's making your work even more enjoy slowly layer after layer of paint. The cars become more with it and deep. But this is just one approach of what occurring. Many painters like to paint straight without layering, and it's up to you to decide which way you prefer. Adding details in some stronger color is next in life. If you work with older cars, put some warmer tones to balance those out. Remember, that is nice toe. The I toe have both cold and warm colors in your picture, but don't use equal amounts of cold and warm cars. Make sure either cold or warm colors are dominant in your work. In the case of this world color, it's the cold ones that are more prominent. Independent. Depth of space comes next. Objects that are closer should have more details and more vivid colors, as there is less air between us and that object opposite. Oh, the object that they're furthering from us, as always, work on different parts on the watercolor, both foreground and background, uniting the entire painting. At this stage, the painting is almost done, and I would just like to mention you that you should step away from your work from time to time and look at it from a distance to see if you missed something. Overdo somewhere or determine if some areas need more attention. This is called the finished Work Looks like after everything is done. I hope you enjoy this video and learn a thing or two up along the way. I would like to see your incorporate these in your work and share with the rest of us in the project gallery. See in the final video for the recap. And please don't forget to leave a review if you liked this course. 5.
