1. Introduction to the class: hi room and welcome to my work on course. My name is Mila and a painter illustrator in an outage. For the best 10 years or so, I've been working with one of colors and in discourse. I'll be sharing. We do this stuff there learned during this time we'll start off with a basic protocol set up where you will see a cult arranged your working space and the material that you should need in order to follow me along the way. After that, we'll continue our work with three simple exercises. First will be great simple one watercolor radiant that will be our first exercise. After that, we'll move on and work with some household material toe improver work and add some interesting effects. We will be using salt, some ordinary household sponges and Toby that will make something like this some interesting effects that will further enhance. Look off your work. And instead of exercise, we were using the masking with doing that I'm having is graphical by Frankenberg. So this one here After that we will move on to making complete water collects these exercises will serve as a warm up and then you want with it. This is one of my older work hours three years ago. For the sake allow, of course, way will create something a bit sinkler, but you will get the point. This course is made for people of all ages and interests and knowledge. So I think that everyone who watched this clip with this course will have some benefits and improve their what color. Also, I'll be with you every step of the way as you progress through the course and help you out . If you have any questions and stuff like that that you might need in orderto make your final work, all you need to do so. It is a basic protocol of materials and passion to create an experiment with cars. So without further ado, let's won't toe water current course. 2. Basic watercolors set up: Hello, everyone. And welcome to my basic watercolor set up video. We will see all things that I used in this course will start off with the paper that amusing and that ihsfah Briana watercolor paper 200 grams will press. I think the best results are concerning. The paper at least comes with working with 203 100 grams paper after death. We have somewhat colors, and as you see, I have some really old ones. But I'm quite happy working with those brushes are next. I have something also really old ones, but I think it's important to have soft bristle brushes on. It will be happy with working with those after that, of course. Water on bull of water, one for bottle off water and another bottle that are. You should remove your upper part so you can put the dirty water inside. When ever you need Clearwater again, of course, paper towel and some kitchen sponges that you can use to create some interesting effects college and stuff like that that you might need during this less. And lastly, we have our graphical I'm asking liquid amusing toe reserve, the white A rest areas that should remain right. Who the entire time? Show that whiteness off paper. I need to have any water colors. So basically, that's it. And we can move on to our first exercise in this course in the next video. 3. Exercise 1 - gradients: So, first of all, we need to fixates the paper onto our painting boards. So using the paper duct tape on all four sides of the paper so it won't move or cause any other trouble. Well, that's the first thing, and then it is ready for us to work on it. Uh, this paper, this sport needs to be at an angle with the lower part closer to you. Oh, this is how Don't use some box or anything that you have at your disposal and make it at an angle. Then we'll start watering the paper, putting on water using sponge. Maybe you can use some other flat, wide brush, and in this case, I'm using my regular fan brush. The point is to make the paper moist. It would be something between wet and dry, not too wet or too dry. And after that, the red color, amusing red color. But you can use an ankle that you want nice even strokes from side to side, and you should try to use either white or in my case, I'm using some narrow not so white brush. Why, you will see that in a minute. From top to bottom and are. Then I cleared the brush and, using almost dry brush, started mixed sculler in more gradual way. But working with smaller brush or sometimes even with the wider brush, you end up with sometimes having this horizontal strokes, and I will address that late. I'm again, I think, another layer of color this time again from top to bottom. But I'm not going to go all the way. I'm going toe. Add color Onley toe first 2/3 of the paper from top to bottom, and then I'll stop. We'll see that in a minute and use my fan brush in order toe. Make that horizontal lines disappeared. That's why didn't use thick white brush, because when using the smaller round brush, they are more visible. So I wanted to show you how you can fix that if you ever happen to have that problem. After that, I laid the they prefer flat on the table and and third layer off color this time Onley in the 1st 3rd of the paper talk and again for the second time, I used my friend brush for mixing disk radiant, so it will be nice and small. All the way from bottom to top off from top to bottom anyway, that you say. And in the minute or in moments you will see the final results and something that you can have for this exercise. So when you finish making your radiance, you can upload them toe a project gallery and showed him how you did it. How? Game for you. So you in the next video and the next exercise. 4. Exercise 2 - household objects in watercoloring: in this exercise. Besides, were colors will be using some materials that can be found in any household, and that can produce some interesting effects. When combined with water colors, we'll start off with blue color, apply toe a dry piece of paper, and then, after we finished applying discolor, we'll add some finely grained salt on it. Well, Sprinkle it on top while it's still wet and see what comes out of it and see what kind of affected this this salt will create. Oh, you see me just spring clip on all over the place, but you can Sprinkle on areas that you would like and wait for it to dry. After that, we will use another color. I used some British on paint it all over the paper on this section of the paper wicks reddish color, and then I used paper toe. Oh, pick up some certain or that I didn't want this affect is good for getting clouds stuff like that so you can check out. I also like you see used wet wipes that can also be interesting to experiment with. So try it out on and have fun with it. Wait way too dry and see what effect did it make on the color. After that, we'll move on. Using the kitchen sponge, I dipped it into a green color and applied on a dry piece of paper. I could use it on what also. But since we already had this wet surfaces, I may this one on dry paper. It could be used for college from leaves, grass, Bush's and stuff like that. Then it will give an interesting texture. We work. Lastly, I I used on orange orangey color, see on video and used salt once more. But this time I didn't use this. Finally, grain salt. I used the sea salt that this bit chunkier and as bigger pieces inside. So it will create another kind of effect that will be different from the various salty effect, as you will see in the end. And indeed, this video Sprinkle it on the surface is where you want the effect to be applied and wait for the dry, I said. Maybe it dis requires a little bit of patients, but I think it will be worth it in the end. So make your exercise like you see this is dried version and enjoy what they're coloring and see you in the next exercise. Have fun 5. Exercise 3 - grafigum: this time, we'll be using our graphical on. That's this thing here. But before we start using it, we need to make simple drawing. I decided to make on initials, didn't think of anything more creative, but there it is. Oh, I sped up this part of the video, so we want her toe this time on that detail. When the drawing is done, we can start applying the masking looked. I usually put it in some or container so that I can dip my pen or my brush into it and not lose much of it that be wary when working with brushes, because it's very bad for brushes it close its parts tight, so you have toe had to be careful and wash the brush if yours in the brush. Or use some old discarded brush, so speak to rush anything that you can come up with. That. Like I said, be wary. It will destroy your brushes if you're not careful. So used one that you don't need or that are in the bed condition. I'm finishing up. I'm asking, drawing. It's done, and we have to wait for it to dry on the drive. You can apply color like See, it doesn't take color. It masks the white areas amusing red, green and blue. But I don't have to worry about Dwight various. The blue or the masking liquid protects them so I can do whatever I'm pleased you like doing without worrying about this white areas. I'm just finishing this well, and we can start when it's dry, moving the masking liquid on the gun. It can be removed just by simple friction. Your fingertips tips fingers, but they also have to be tried not to smudge the white areas that you protected along. So be careful of that as well and start rubbing off graphic Um, and you'll see the white areas appear beneath. That was old point we wanted to do. We do sex success. So that's it for this exercise. I hope you can find it in your local our department store or something with that and have found with its great material. But like I said, beware off the rushes when you use a graphical and its smell because it's melts very bad. So, yeah, In the next video 6. Watercolors - part 1 : this video, I created the water call landscape straight from the top of land. You, on the other hand, can use reference material. You can google an image or use the photos from the magazines or go straight to nature. That doesn't have to be a copy off that landscape or that image it truly is. A guide toe should through this course. So I begin drawing. I divide paper into thirds so I can have some. I know a composition, and I usually use the top third folder sky. I use middle for the background and the lower one for the foreground. And then I started drawing. It's nothing special, just some like touches to establish where is what to establish where the shapes should be. What are the things that I draw the trees and stuff like that? As you see, it's very light. It shouldn't be seen much in the finished base. Now I'm making ship off rocks and stuff like that after that is done. All right, then what? The paper, All the portion off the paper where the sky should be eso that I couldn't break on the clouds and and that is done. I'm just finishing it. I can start. I think clouds and this guy paper is right over there and it makes a few colors and so I can have water can slowly come down and create the interesting effects I'm using a few blows. I don't have to always use the same blow. Maybe light there for lower part are careful. I air at some reflections on the bottom off the clouds like this additional work, and in the end you can use even paper total wipe off the excess water orange color after net. We can make some additional works in the clouds where we see fit, and I think that would be better again. This is not from for just some random idea, my head. And after that I go into making the shadows off the mountains, making blocks for those. Just give it some kind of ah, structure. Light is coming from the right side. Some older and some lower mountains. Peaks stuff like that have to be addressed. Rough shapes. All the detail ing will come later, and now it's time for me to use masking liquid. And like before I put it in a smaller container that decide accidents can happen. This is sticky material as unpleasant smell, but it's interesting to work with, and it gives our freedom and some interesting solution. So I use it, and I feel the need right after that, it will be a little stream on foreground, so amusing it also to mask certain areas where I think so. White should be prominent. We're covering the mountain after the graphic goonies dry and paint. I apply another layer off your water mountains so I can move on. Renting There will be some sort of mist and the lower part of the mountain. Its base. It wouldn't be seen. It will be a chance to make certain radiant to have soft edges this mountain again, putting some details and sprinkling salt on certain places. Not sure how much old would be seen in the end, but I think that might be a good thing to use sometimes that I'm making some old edge greenery in the place where the foreground and background meats separated. A few colors mixture off green, like green, deep green, yellow. I get try to mix the colors more interesting. No wonder grass in the foreground. Justo make eight minutes. Just know where to put what and closer to us and it just a few more. And now it's time for hello. Some dry paper. The car should be more vivid as you go foreground. And healer uh, background mountain in this case, or did this yellow make it more interesting? You will see how it looks in the end. And when it comes to the foreground, Hello should be darker and more more vivid. If there is less here that is between us of your and Delinsky. You can use different materialists. Make the grassy canoes, toothbrush, regular brush. Or, in this case, like I this bunch, He's enough. It all depends what effect you wanna make. And you always have to watch not to overdo things, because the beautiful landscapes work our landscapes. Easing the white paper paper did is seeing through the color and no, um, making yes place where I should put my evergreen trees. And that's how it is called in English. I'll start off with sponge, but later argues list how my one of my older brushes that he's not so good, but it is perfect, or trees like these. I'm using it. Great defects on the trees. This is what color and doesn't have to be realistic. Just give you a hint and see that there's our trees. It can be rough, but it all depends on the personal preference and what each and every one of us like. How think that make? So what color again? Putting some blue color things in the open air I don't use. I don't recommend using black for all painter for watercolors. I just like to use a mixture of all colors to create the dark shadows stuff like that because black color just I know kills everything and a raise pretty much done for Sometimes you have to look inside, see what side of the paper is weapon where it can work on. And I think I probably made steak here, but that is, I think, normal. It's part of the process of learning the that side that far Mountains shouldn't be so dark . I realize that later, man, if in your piece. So even that has a solution. I went to the bathroom and under attack, I water on slowly with the brush on certain parts of the mountain that in the area. I only removed dark shadow that I think shouldn't be there if they're stepped airiness in this landscape. So I think it over there. But like you said, no one is perfect and who can make mistakes, So it's important to see them going on with the mountain, adding additional details and you will see on the result you end with second video cause I changed that. It's important when toe painting toe adding the color color all over the place, not working Onley in one specific place and then moving on. But uncertainty going over the peace and adding color make certain unity that way. Nothing feels off or strange and feels like doesn't belong there. He's and in the second part, for what I call landscape painting who finished, though foreground and add additional details. This is it. Were this first part Oh, you in the next one 7. Watercolors - part 2: here we will continue were left off in a previous video. Basically, it's much the same. We continue to work on the stream, adding color to it and making disinfects with all these types of sponges who further enhance the look off the work. The stuff that this remained untouched are rocks in the foreground, and in a minute I'll start giving attention to those. Or it's a swell ever so slightly gently, not ruin anything. What you enjoy making these, what a cold peace rocks are sometimes very interesting toe create. So I take special care during these parts, especially because they're in the front and need to have those details popping up somehow. So this perspective, also working on the just don't background and adding little by little pieces of color, adding old things close also, there needs to be some reflections in the water, so that's what this is about and moving on are there. This work is done with this small brush. I like yours in this brush because has a very long bristle and a lot of color can, and she picked on, and that is one of my favorite brushes when working with grass but you can use on color or any brush that you prefer. It all depends on one spaced on way that he or she imagines, make watercolors little by little. And if you see the there's mistake or something like that, always have that piece off the wallpaper. Bijou. So you can fast in white fast manner. Correct that mistake, because what a car is such a technique that it doesn't allow mistakes or if it allows you have toe act quickly toe in order to save those steaks, to save the beast from getting something that you wouldn't like to have. And now on that Bush's that between the organ in the background, good certain life and something make it look interesting again. Sometimes I forget myself and start using only the one brush. But in this part off the working progress is details. If you want to put them okay. If you don't want toe, that's your reference. I'm looking forward. Seeing your works and your progress. I can't end. Like I said, in the beginning of this course, you can use reference photo for those that you find Internet. You can go outside and look at nature straight one on one. Or use some quarters from newspapers, magazines and stuff a get. Or you can even use your own photos that you took on some all the day on a camping trip or any other way. Main thing is, I enjoy working with his colors on landscapes. Enjoy this process and have fun with it. And sometimes when you get into trouble and make mistakes, you don't have to worry. And now, in this part, I was just removing the graphical from certain parts. They were covered until this moment, and then I removed it so I can work on the parts that were protected. Some. It's better left untouched, but some are in the way, like in those trees, they need some special attention. And on the left side, this also on peace. Graphical that stopped were Stop me working for on that tree. So in mitt Oh, my attention. Also leave your comments if you have any other questions or stuff that you would like to ask me or if you run into trouble. No free door at comment. I'm in section and I will answer and look at your work and the project gallery Oh, we can continue our work. And after watching this video now, I'm country apartment. I said, I'm gonna correct that white area that shouldn't be there. The tree, this part in front of these trees, you look a bit a little bit messy, but oh, try to fix that in a short and again I'm putting additional color toe. Those rocks, which I met shouldn't. But in the end, I corrected it with a little bit water, that water and soft brush. It's just stroll you good in this kind of work. Mystics Impossible. Why not make them? And that is the best way sometimes to learn rocks again. I could set earlier and working on oil painting worker painting. You don't have toe and a certain section and say, OK, that's done. I think at least you should constantly coming back, back and forth those areas and gradually build up. Ain't color North Health that let's say or natural. Look, have the unity on paper, and everything that way looks more natural or in place. So, like you see, in one moment I'm working on the mountains in the background and then in another, working on stones in the front that somehow that old years I I grew accustomed to on if you have any other were working, I would love to hear where you where you make your work hours or paintings. It will be interesting both, well, other students and for me as well. We'll see what solutions have you made or will make in the course of time. So I'll be inattention to those comments as well. This video is also coming to a close and soon, and I hope you enjoy it from time and that you will continue. So make your work and I hope we'll see it in the project gallery. In the meantime, have a great day, and joy were coloring. Also, someone will see the finished version. This water color with a little bit leached out, uh, upper part. 8. Final words: congratulations on finishing this watercolor course and thank you for watching it. Painting with watercolors is aware, addictive and more. You do it, the better you'll get, and you'll start to understand how the pain behaves and how the brush moves in your hands. It becomes something very personal because nobody can paint like you, practice, practice and make the world colors that you love. Also, don't forget to share the stuff that you did in the Project Gallery for feedback that may include exercise examples, images of the work in progress or you're finished books anyway, enjoy painting and see you soon.
