We will then dive into the captivating world of watercolor, exploring different techniques to infuse life and vibrancy into your pumpkin girl character. 3. Material Guide. : Let's talk about what material we need for this class. All you need is a watercolor paper. You can take any brand you want, but must have 300 GSM watercolor palette or tube, whatever is available at your home. Watercolor brushes, I highly recommend if you can take the round brushes along with some fine liners for final details. All you need is acrylic paint, pen and color pencil. 4. Step by step Whimsical Eyes: Before we will start with our main lesson, I want to give you an introduction video of how you can use this workbook And draw your eyes, nose and mouth. For this, all you need is the template of the oval and circle. But if you don't have these, you can just do it freehand. I'm using them to show you how we can use this, which will make your life really easy to create a proportional eyes, nose and mouth. The first thing we will be drawing a vertical and horizontal line. This is my horizontal line and I'm just going to make a vertical line. All you need to remember that we have a total of three eyes. The center is the size of one eye, which is a hidden E. We use this I as the distance between both the eyes. We always start with a center oval. So you can choose any size of your choice. Whether you want to make a big eyes or you want to make a standard yes or a normal small eyes, you can start practicing with any size you want. I will be using just a regular, Not too small. Not too big. But first you start with your center oval. Then you're going to make another two ovals next to each other. And that's it. Now, the second step is after doing this, you need to see where is the center of your first oval? This is my center. I'm going to give another balance line. And through this balance line, I will be making a circle inside. You can do it freehand, and if you have this, you can definitely use this one. I will see which one can fit easily, and that's it. Now it's time to give you the line of your eye lashes and upper lid, so you can choose any style of the eyes. It can be a little bit more stylized or whimsical or if you have any other references, you can definitely get inspired by those references. I will start by adding the eyelashes line first with a little diagonal to give a bit more whimsical effect as I'm doing a big eye. I'm happy with what I have right now, and I'm going to add another circle inside. After I'm done with my eyelashes, I'm just going to erase the top line. And I'm going to add another upper lid line. If you want, you can erase the center oval also. Now it's time to create the tear duck. Just a small curve on both the side and this will be your eyeball oval. You can bring this part down. The shape of the eye will definitely completely on you. How you want? You want a big one, you want a medium size? I'm going to just add another lower lid line for me. I really don't want a lot of eyelashes in my whimsical faces, but a few strands will be enough. I'm just going to add 12.3 more curve. I think that's good. That's it. Now for the eyebrows, I will give you a little bit of guide that you can make like a letter A. And then you can just give the eye eyebrow line. I'm always confuse with eyelashes and eyebrows and I always mix them together even in my studio classes. That's it for now. I'm really happy. And now I will also show you how you can do it if you don't have these. All you need again, the same line. I'm going to do freehand. Now you will make an oval and then you are going to make another oval. Now at this point, I want to show you one very easy technique. Most of the time, students are able to draw one side of the eyes, but not able to do it on the other side. For that, you can easily use tracing paper, or you can use the baking sheet from your kitchen, and you can just simply trace your eyes on the baking sheet or on the tracing paper. And then you can flip it, but let me just erase some previous lines so I will be able to see and then you can place them. Give a hard pressure, a little bit extra pressure on your paper, you will get the impression on, and then just trace all the lines and na you get your second eye exhibit. Let me erase all the lines and you can see how it looks. Let's practice with me. I will be making more eyes, and I want you to do it with me. While you're watching this video, don't forget to submit your work after completing your eye project, which is lesson number one, how to create your own style in your eyes. Please feel free to get more references from Pinterest or from Google or any different photographs you have. You can always use your own photographs and you can create your own style of the eyes other. 5. Step by Step Whimsical Eye & Nose : Let's practice of how to create a beautiful, cute little button noses for whimsical portrait. We will always start, I personally start drawing with a vertical and the horizontal line to create a balance. You will be able to see the steps of three circles. You will start by three circles, the center, the small two sides. And then you will be able to start by following the center and turn into the nostril oval. I really feel difficult to achieve the cute little nose because I don't want a big noses on my whimsical portrait. And then after this, you can just easily erase extra circles, what you can see, that's the easiest way to create a button nose. You can practice in these boxes if you want to. You can make as many as you can by looking at different references. Let's do the mouth For the mouth again, the same thing. I will personally go with four circles, 12 up and two down. First, start by little curve towards up, your face will be nice and pleasant looking. Now this is also completely up to you. If you're following any reference from different pictures, you can see the shape, how you want to in the second, in this reference. You can see that over here I didn't do the circles. But here I show you the steps with the circles too. If you don't want to make the circles, you can always start by drawing like a W. Then that's a small line that's completely up to you. That's it for nose and mouth. I hope you will be able to practice in your worksheet. And don't forget to send me your practice, and I would love to give you the feedback. 6. Face proportion : In this video, we will talk about the proportion of the pace through the workbook. You will be able to see these steps and it will be very easy for you to follow. Always remember that we have one eye space in between two eyes. When we are creating a whimsical, cute little girls, we need to make sure that the nose is small as a button nose. And the nose also have to be a little closer to the eyes. The mouth size has to be the same as the size of your one eye. Now you can also check all these steps in your workbook. You can also see how you can create different hairstyle. You can follow the wordbook, otherwise you can always use your own imagination to create new hairstyle. This is the fun part. This is the cheat sheet for you to follow. If you don't have the oval, you can always use this one. Because here I have added the small dots. You can see there is small sites as well. This is what I have created by following the guidelines. Here I have another sheet for you in which I will draw in front of you. Now as you can see that there are dots already for you which you can follow to make your eyes, nose and map. Make sure you practice first before you use this word sheet. Now through this time laps, you can easily follow the steps of drawing eyes, nose, and mouth on the lines which is given on your cheat sheet. You can easily use your own reference picture or follow from the workbook. I have just added a little bit of water color just to show you how the face look like, all these faces. What I'm showing you right now is done with the same technique What I share with you and I have made them in a very easy way to follow with the worksheet. I hope you will practice. And don't forget to practice several times before you achieve your result. See you in the next lesson. 7. Painting skin tone with primary colors.: The easiest way to paint a skin tone, you can just take your watercolor palette. And you can have all the colors which will be orange, white, pink. And you can mix and match them. You can use any school supply watercolor palette. And you are good to go. You don't need to get a complete professional one. But if you're using any kind of a professional watercolor palette, which will be Ns and Newton or any other brand, you will also get different skin tones. And by mixing them, you can get the perfect skin tone. What you're looking for as a lesson and as a complete big, I want to show you how you can create your own skin tone by using three primary colors. Currently, I'm using the Mission Gold watercolor tubes. I will be taking the permanent red, bald, blue, and yellow. You can just use three primary colors to create your skin tone. Whether you're working with acrylic paints or whether you're working with Gage or watercolor, this is the right technique to make your skin tone with any medium you want for the brushes. I do have a lot of different brands and different variety of brushes from Bristo to Winsor Newton. The best way to use the watercolor brushes has to be the round brush. And it can be any brush available at your home. You don't need to go and buy the paint brushes or any fancy brushes you want to order. If you like to order, that's completely up to you. Any kind of a round mop brushes will work better. You can use the school supply brushes as well, and they will work absolutely fine. We just want to make sure that you don't need to spend a lot of money before you start your creative journey. I really want you whatever you have at home or even if you have your kids school supplies, you can still paint and create your beautiful whimsical portraits. The first color is red. I'm going to take a little bit of red in this palette with lots of water and a little bit of yellow. Now this will be more on orange tones. So you can see that you can easily add water in the color. And you will get the value of color. Gets light, start by in a circling motion. And how we can just use primary colors first to create different skin tones. This is my first intone. Now I'm going to take a little bit of more yellow orange in this. A tiny dot of blue. Going to mix it in this and look at that pretty occur shade is formed, wow, this is really nice. Bet on wet technique will be the best for practicing your portrait skin colors. Now you can start because these are the only three colors I will be using. I will be making them darker, or lighter, or more yellowish tones. Maybe I can make it a very, very light pink kind of a color. See this one over here, take a little bit of. This will be the perfect for the blushes. When you want to create a little bit of makeup look to your girl, you can use this kind of a color. I will also show you how you can mix from your paint palette, what you already have it at home. If you don't have tube ones, then I will also show you how you can use them. Let me create a little bit of darker skin tone by adding a bit more blue. This shade will be perfect for your eyes and even eyelid area. Yes, look at that just to water spread the paint. This is what we have made with tube paints with only three primary colors. Let me just create that red. We use red, we use blue, and use yellow. With the help of these three colors, I can still make a lot of different shades. But let's just give a quick look to the school supply paint palette. If you have how you can use them for your paint, for your skin tones. I have this one from St. You can see it already have a skin color over there. But in case if you don't have this is skin color, you can simply take any kind of orange and mix them into Whitehead. This is orange color, and I can just take it into the white color, white and orange. And then I will mix it. It will give me some very nice, pretty nice skin tone. If you want a darker or orange, or maybe more on the brown side, then you can take this one again. You can mix it in white, white, and orange, and all these colors a little orange. Be careful with the black if you have. That's the reason I don't personally like using these, but wow, this is such a bright one. You always need to know that the first layer off your skin has to be super light as the first layer. But then you can make it as dark as you want by adding all these colors. Even some of the reds take some red with the same. And all these pretty make up colors are almost ready. Now, the next step is that in the next I will show you how we are going to start with our whimsical portrait, a little bit pink in it, and I hope you enjoy it. Don't forget to comment. And please feel free to ask if you need any kind of a help or assistance. I will be happy to help you. Don't forget to share your practice sheets with me for the feedback. 8. How to transfer your template.: Now here I'm ready to start with my whimsical portrait. I just use the masking tape to make a, create a clean border around my paper. I didn't stick it on any surface. If in case I want to create a little bit of dripping technique or I want to play with watercolor, I will be able to move my paper. Let's start with our first lesson, which will be the lic pumpkin girl. Here you have some references. If you wish to use any of these references, you are free to use this. Otherwise you can definitely create your own. I will be using our first pumpkin girl, which will be this one. As I already have done with my sketching and all, I will be just simply transferring this reference on my main paper. I will also show you how you can use these worksheets to just simply trace it. You can use a pencil just color it from the back of the paper. Once you have color within just regular pencil, you will be able to press this on the, on your watercolor paper and you will get all the impression on the main paper If you don't want to use this and if you're going to sketch it differently, I highly recommend you to draw on a separate paper and use this technique. You don't have to erase a lot of time on your watercolor paper and there won't be any marks on the watercolor paper. 9. Whimsical Pumpkin Girl Part-1 : First thing, let's start by adding lots of color in the background will go with some red. In my process, you will see that I don't stick with one medium. I will use any medium, whatever is available in front of me. It can be a very fancy high quality artist paint. It can be a very simple to supply one. I just want to enjoy the process, what I'm working on it, that's what I really want my students to do that as well, especially when we are working on the whimsical portrait over here. I have this 0.2 brush from Vincent and Newton. Because the face is really small, I don't want to go with a very big face, Big brush. I will start painting the face with the same mixture of red and orange. Has the first play a little bit of beach I can go with. This is too dark. If it's too dark, quickly take the water and spread it. But I know that these areas needs to be darker. The forehead need to be darker and quickly apply the water. That's the beauty, that you can easily use water and spread your color. It's a beautiful sunlight right now. I don't know how it looks in the camera that beat and in Middle East right now, it's summers and it's really hot. I know I'm painting a fall season painting and getting inspired by fall, but we don't have any sign of fall season right now. It's a peak summer time, super hot. Over here you can see that I accidentally dip it from the school supply paint. The moment I just add this color, it just dried out. No matter how much I'm trying to spread, it's not going that can be a little challenge for you. If you're using Archie and using a simple solid school supplies here, I'll take the tissue and I'm going to remove the paint from the areas where I need a bit highlight, which is the nose area, a little bit on the forehead, and a little bit on the cheeks. Just waiting to take a little bit more red just to create that pink above the eyes. One spot is really annoying. I don't know how I'm going to fix that. Let's see. For now, I'm just going to enjoy the process of me painting my whimsical girl and feeling like I'm makeup artist and I'm giving her a nice makeup keep using and spread the paint. Make sure that you are not leaving it for very long and it should not dry there. You need highlighted area, those areas you must keep using the water and make it light accidentally. If you have added a lot, then you can just take tissue and just remove the color from there. Once this will be dry, I will go with a bit more on the beach and orange side of the skin. This is just my first skin layer. I'm just coloring the lips as she's wearing the sleepless I can have her skin color. If you get a little confused with the lines, you can always check your reference. Like over here I was confused with where is my line for the hand You can always check your reference. Again, that's it looks really good. I think the skin area is a bit dry. I'm going to use I will start painting the eyes. For the eyes, I will go with some kind of a blue still. I haven't used any other color than the same primary colors what I have it in the starting, I will color the whole thing, whatever color you decide. And adding a little bit of water, just spread it. Then in the end, I will go with the black later on. Now, once you are done with this, I will go with a bit of peach. I have a water color from white nights, this one, because I want to achieve a nice pink peach shade, I will use any of these colors. You can go with any color you want. The same primary colors is already there, so I will use those later on. A little bit of red in this corner, going to take a tiny dot of pink, shake it, little bit of peach, more red brown. Just play with your colors. If you're absolute bigness, I would say you can by just a simple color package from Vinson and Neuter. On any other brand. You have it at home. Or if you're willing to buy, you can buy a palette if you're absolute picked up. Because in that you will already get so many different shades. This is a combination of red, yellow, pink, a little bit of skin color just to give a little depth above my eyes. And using the water and spreading this above my eyes, it's like a shade of brown, you can say. You can use any color which whatever you feel it's similar to this. It's too dark right now, but I'm going to make it a bit lighter. This down also, don't be afraid of using color, let it be. But yes, little by little, you will have a control on your brush and you can always remove if there is a lot that is too much. But you will see how it will get balance. Once I'm done with my work, now it's time to blend more with the water and just create that softness around with the help of water. I'm just spreading it all wherever I need to create the highlight, I will just use the tissue and remove the extra color. That's so good. See how nicely it gets balanced. Now take the tissue. Just remove the extra from the area of a little bit above as your forehead. I still have that patch, but it can be her birthmark. Let's see what I'm going to do. I will take this keep. If you have a small paper and small portrait, you can use some Q tip to remove the colors over here, I just ab some of the extra to make my chin look more prominent under the chin area. I have added the darker color theme. I'm just removing some extra above the nose. On top of the nose area, I might erase. Just remove some extra from upper lid area. Looks good. Be gentle. Be very careful with the size of the brush. Do not use a very big one. Keep changing the brush if you want. I haven't changed yet, but you can always keep changing the brush, repeating the same process again and just making my shades a little bit dark. Perfect. Now let's just okay, I think I'm done. I will wait for this to dry and then I'm going to work on around the lips area. I will make this a bit more flushy, more dark. The rest of the areas will get more highlighted the more you will make your China under the chin area, your chin will pop. I hope you can see this. It's a matter of patience and little by little, enjoy the music. Have some fun while you're creating your whimsical portrait. I cannot work right now. On my lips, on my mouth, and the nose. I need to wait for this to dry. Then I'm going to do it because Right, it's damp. And then if I'm going to add any paint, it might just bleed. I just need to give that time to work on the news. We'll see you in part two of this video and I hope everything is doing great. You can send me the picture for the feedback. 10. Whimsical Pumpkin Girl Part-2: Now as you can see, I have almost completed with my first layer of the face and the pumpkin in the background. I will start with the hair. For this, I will be using this palette from Phoenix. It has a lot of colors and if I need a new shade, I will be doing some mix and match. I'm still working with water color. I want to create her hair in blond. I still have this previous color from yesterday. I want to make my hair blonde. I have this previously mixed color with yellow, red, a little bit of blue, and lots of water, just to make the consistency more liquidy. And it will give me the lightest value. In the start, I will start by giving the following, my pencil lines. I will make this a little bit of more burned orange and we'll be adding some in between. It's completely up to you whatever color you wish to do for the hair. You can always go for it. I'm just going with the warm color tones with browns and occur yellow. Just go over the flow however you feel. Whatever your mood is, you can create your hair according to your choice. Just remember to start by strands, by strands of the hair, and leave a little bit of white ****** and that will give you more natural look in your work. Lose the strands, we can still do it in the end. And some of the strands, I'm just doing it randomly without following the lines. I think I am good for the first layer. Now I want to work on my dress, which will be yellow first, and then I will be adding more as the pumpkin dress. I want to keep the same scheme as the pumpkin colors. Again, you're free to choose your own colors. I'm just following my directions As the start, please start with a wet on wet technique, which will be more of the water, less paint, less pigments. After taking a few drops of color, you can just spread it with the water. At this point, you can see I want to create that curve and the folds of the dress. I'm just adding some dark brown. And following my pencil line and pushing it towards up will still work later on. But just giving myself a little guide line, when my first layer will get dry, I, this is how I need to move my brush and follow those lines. This area will be the back of the dress. It has to be dark color. It's a combination and mixture of orange, brown. If I need to add more, I will do it later on. I think I can increase this a little bit more just to make it more equal. Always remember to extend or whatever you feel looks good. Always do that. We don't need to copy exactly what instructions you are getting. I highly recommend you and encourage. Please go with the flow. How you feel about that's how my first layer of almost everywhere it's done. Now I will start working on my pumpkin. With the pumpkin, I will take the orange color first. I'm going to start working the one in the back. I'm adding some orange, going with the red just to try to make the creases and the folds of the pumpkin look more prominent and different. You can always take the tissue and just remove some of the areas to create that highlight effect if accidentally you have covered a lot. I think I'm really happy with the way it looks and start giving me the three defect. I will add a little tiny dot of browns. Let's start working on this. Stem needs to really less and coles less. So little by little, just keep adding till you feel happy with your pumpkins. And I'm doing the same. I'm just adding and playing with my color layer by layer. And we will add more details once all these layers will get dry. 11. Whimsical Pumpkin Girl Part-3: As we are near to the final stages, it's time to bring out the fine pen and color pencil. We will begin by carefully tracing over the pencil line and outlining the artwork to add definition and precision to achieve a striking effect. Start by outlining the upper eye with bold line, ensuring it stands out. Then with a gentle touch and light pressure, meticulously outline the lower lid to create a soft and gentle appearance for the eyes. Now, after doing all the outlining with the fine liners, this is how the whimsical girl look like and she's coming to live. I'm so happy and I hope your progress is going same. If in case you're not able to get the same results, don't lose hope. Keep trying and trust your process. Enjoy the process is the most important thing and over the practice, you will be able to achieve the same results. Now it's time for me to enhance all these folds and pleads to just create a little bit more three D and whimsical effect. I do have some skin tone pencils I might be using above the eyes and a little bit color pencils in the hair. I will also paint the leaves. Then I might add some splatters and a little bit of whimsical magical touch. No, I did not do the wine and the pumpkins on the head. From the template, I definitely have to add something. I'm thinking to add a stick holding a pumpkin on top of it. You can go with the exact same design, what we have, or you can also use your own imagination, create something Whimsical imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, what you imagine at last, you create what you will. Once you begin to truly enjoy the creative process, you will unlock the power of imagination and bring your vision to life. Immerse yourself in the enchanting beauty of these whimsical girls. Let their essence inspire your artistic journey and celebrate the magic that lies within the feminine form. Here, you may have noticed that I started with the green ground, but then I change it into a completely different way, more burnt orange. This is how my whimsical girl look like. I will be doing some shading with a color pencil and adding some eyelashes. Maybe a little bit more blush, everything I will be using with color pencil. At last, you can take some acrylic paint or if you have the gel white pen or any kind of a Posca pen will work as well. I'm using acrylic paint and taking a very, very fine paint brush, adding some highlights above the eyes, nose, lips on the hair, bigs giving a very fine strands. If you feel it become really thick, then you can use your finger and smash them to make it a bit softer. Look, you can also add on the pumpkin after all the highlights, whatever you want to add with color, pencils or pen. I will do some splatters, which will be acrylic paint mixed with water and using normal brush. And I'm just going to splat, I have covered the face. The splatters will not go on the face, but all over the background I would love to see those small sparkles. The paint. I personally like to add white splatters, but I will be adding a little bit of red near to the pumpkin. If you want to create a more magical look, you can add different colors in the ground area. That is completely your own choice. If you want to skip this part, you are free to do that. That's it. Let's remove and see the last, final look for the glitter and sparkles. I will be using a little bit of mot pot, you can use a normal blue stick. You can apply wherever you want to. I will be just giving a little shimmer and shine in the dress. Not too much, but yes, a little blink will look good. And there you have it. Our whimsical pumpkin girl is complete, ready to be admired and cherished. Frame her in all her magical glory. I wish she may bring joy and inspiration to all who behold her. Can't wait to see your process. Do share. I would love to have your feedback 0 12.
