1. Introduction: Hi, everyone. Thank you for joining in my skill share class in this class will be going over how to paint a watercolor galaxy, and it will be a beginner's guide. No experience needed. My name is a synonym for started, my great of journey of modern calligraphy and brush lettering about three years ago. My instagram handle is at a C underscore creates, but there you can find my work from the very beginning. Until now what? I found out that I really love this water coloring and bossing brush lettering, calligraphy, illustrating and after on multiple weddings and events for this type of work. So here I am, teaching my first skill share class, where I'll be going over how to paint a watercolor galaxy specifically this one. Since this is a big a nurse course I do. You will not need any experience will go over all the supplies needed, blending exercises, colors and also the actual demonstration of how to paint that particular watercolor galaxy . After you learn how to paint the watercolor galaxy, you can use it for a number of things, such as making your own greeting cards, making backgrounds for lettering, making your backgrounds for a bullet. Journaling there, tons of different creative ideas that you can go off from just one or color galaxy by playing with different colors, different shapes and things like that. So let's have some fun. 2. Supplies: Now we're going to take a look at all the supplies we need to create this watercolor galaxy piece. Now let's take a look at the canvas that will be painting on. And that will be watercolor paper, the watercolor paper that I prefer to use this by cancer and and they do come in hot presser Cold press. I prefer the court press because we'll be doing tons of layers. So cold press just means that the papers more textured. It's dhampir when you compare to hot press and hot press. Paper is mainly good for one or two washes of color, so just not very many layers of colors. The next item we need something called washi tape washi tape is a really thin, durable piece of tape that won't cause any damage to the paper When you peel it off, it also helps create that white border. More white space. Eddie Mary You place it in order to prevent water color from getting their next will go into the sizes of different paint brushes. We'll start with the size 14 wish from the very far left, size eight in the middle, and then a size zero paintbrush which is the thinnest one size zero. Then brush will be good for to find her details, whereas the larger ones will be good for a watercolor. Backgrounds or washes during our tutorial of the watercolor galaxy will go over each use of the different sizes to show you what they're good for. Of course, one of the main supply we need is liquid water color, and one of my favorite all time go to water color is, by royal talents, equally liquid water color. Um, they have many, many colors to choose from, including pastels as well, which is really pretty. They're a little price here, but it really is worth it because of how vibrant saturated colors are. And it takes a very long time to finish one whole bottle. Thanks. I'm going to introduce to you a different water color brand that I recently stumbled across . This is by Sergeant Kurt. Please forgive me from pronouncing that name wrong. It is the washable watercolor magic line, and in this piece you'll be able to see the hot pink color that I'm using and you can see it in action yourself. This brand is also a little bit more cost efficient, but it does not have many different colors to choose from. Unlike the role talents, equal mine liquid watercolors, the last item we need is our doctor. Ph. Martin's bleed proved white. It is a really pretty opaque white ink that sits on top of the layers of watercolors who have after it's dried, and it does not get muddy and mixes with all the layers of watercolor it's that you already have. So it's a really nice white think white water color that you can use if you have layers watercolor that you wanted to just sit on top of. Of course, these air just e supplies that I used and I personally prefer you can definitely feel free to do your own research and purchase. Try out the different products that you like in order to create your piece. 3. Blending Exercise: in this section will be going over blending and using different colors to our advantage before we get started on our watercolor galaxy piece. It started with the blending exercise I chose to different colors, which color you will give me a purple color for salt depression to number one. Then, without cleaning my brush off, dip it into color number two to get that purple color, which is our third color. Then I want to wash my brush off, get that pure pink back, did the back into color number one to get a different shade of purple and then clean my brush off. Dip it back into color number one to return to where we started with just blue. These are actually the colors will be using for a water color galaxy for our next blending exercise. I chose truth, the different colors that can give me 1/3 color as well. Her first color will be blue, and the second color will be yellow. We'll be using the same technique you did just now, which is dip your brush into color number one than two. Clean your brush all dip it into two to get the second Don't clean your brush up, dip it into wine and then clean your brush off and get color nable one back. These exercises are really important because you get to see how these watercolors blend. You get to see the pigmentation of what happens when light colors blend dark colors. Dark colors blend into like colors. When you're doing these clippings and mixing of colors, you want to make sure that you're using jars and different palates for your colors. And you're not directly dipping your pain precious into these water colored jars so you don't contaminate the rest of the colors. For this exercise, I chose a red and yellow, and you can see when they mix together. It creates a really pretty orange like a sunset color, and all these colors can be used for watercolor Galaxies. It really depends on what you want your galaxy to look like. Like I said, three years, first color said, will be what we're using. Four are water polar galaxy tutorial. Here. You can really see how pretty this watercolor bleeds are after they have tried. You can definitely try out different color combinations at home and what you know, what color combinations are your favorite to blend together 4. Watercolor Galaxy Demo: you guys made it to the most exciting part, which is the pain demonstration portion of this class. Your have my watercolor paper, which I'm taping town with Washington. The reason for this is so that I can create a white border along my painting, which I prefer and also helps toe hold my paper down. Marsh Deep is also really fun to work with because it comes in different patterns and also different colors. So let's get started on a painting. I took my biggest brush, which is the size 14 brush. Dip it in Clearwater and just simply wet the paper. Now we'll use our water homer and just randomly place our first color in different areas. You want to just let that paint blended with water and let it do its job. You don't have to do anything else now choose to second color and slowly color in the white spaces. You'll see that when it blends with first color in mixes to form her third color, which is our purple, and you also want get the pink color back by dipping a brush and jude pink again. So it's not all purple, and do you want to get some pinks in there. Last color, which is black. This is important for all Galaxies. Want to treat that darkness that spreads along the corners along the sides of your painting ? I also like to do some in the middle. This way helps to greet that really natural look. When it all blends together, her painting is tried. We want to spatter some stars using our doctor Ph. Martin Proof. I think you did your size zero paintbrush in gently tap it against end of another. People brush and create that spattered look Now, like to draw my stars, you can draw stars in different ways. I like to just do a letter team with a circle in the middle and also strokes coming out to create that natural. So now it's time for the final review where you can peel off your Washington gently. It doesn't cause and shouldn't cause any damage to your paper. It just helps create that really white clean border wherever you place your washing tape on . So there you have your watercolor galaxy painting. This technique that we just use is called wet on wet technique to create that watercolor galaxy that means that we first wet the paper with a clear paintbrush that's only dipped in water. And then we put water color on top of that layer of water and let the water color do its job. Just let the watercolor blend with the water and just let it run by itself. That's a key to painting in watercolor galaxy. It's to create a really messy, chaotic yet creative natural look. So you're not looking like you're trying too hard, but just letting the water do its work. So no to watercolor galaxy paintings will be the same if you do a but on what technique? I hope that demonstration was helpful. Feel free to contact me. If you have any questions at all, I'll be more than happy to help you. 5. Recap &Final Words: thank you so much for making through my school share class for the watercolor galaxy technique. I just wanted to recap a couple things for you guys. Make sure you guys do your blending exercises. It's really important so that you can see how the colors look when they're dried. How the colors bleed together from one color to the next color. Also, you can always try different colors at home different colors to see which you prefer. What colors you like. What colors you don't like? Make sure you create your own project. Submit your work this way I can see all your creative juices come through and go on Instagram. My handle is at C underscore creates this way If you see something you like, let me know.
