2. Main class on Video Editing hacks for single camera production in 4K: Hello and welcome to my class
on video content creation. You do it like a true
video editing hacks for single camera production
in four key insights, tricks, tips, and hacks, every content creator must know. Now my previous videos,
we are video recording, directing and out of
video recording part 1.2. And then I also did
a video on gadgets, the essential gadgets that
you need as a videographer. Today, I'm going to teach
on video editing at, I hope we will have a very
interesting type of data. So let's jump straight
into the topic. Now the Sasha issue
I'm going to be dealing with in this class is why you must have the basic
knowledge in video editing. Now, as a YouTube content
creator, you know, one of the machines, bottom phase apart from the content that you
provide or create, is how you put everything together, package
everything together, and put it on your website, on your channel of whichever social media
platform you are using. And how you package
these materials. What about content
you have in itself? It's a marketing tool for you. So you have to know
at least the basic of what you should do as a pro. You know, there are
some materials, though the content might be good conduct, might
be interested in. But if it is not edited well, if it's not put together well, sometimes it takes a lot away from whatever it
is that you want to give to your audience. So for instance, a lot of people want to be as
simple as possible, which is always recommended. It is advised not
to draw attention to the editing style
you use it because it takes away from the pole listening to the content
you want to provide. However, it is also
very important that you're editing looks as
professional as possible. And to me, professionalism means you edit the video
in such a way that the attention of the
viewer is taking completely away from
how the pitches are put together and everything is concentrated on
whatever you want to see or whatever it is that you want to give
you an audience. That's on video that I've seen that have a lot of effects, lot of elements, a
lot of transitions. And all this kind of takes attention away to almost
like a science fiction film. Of course, there are
places they are materials or the occasions where
doses are needed. Yes. For instance, in
music videos or in games, there are contents
that's required that you use a lot of effects
and a lot of transitions to show how stylish know the whole material that is the content
you want to give. But I will advise that you tone down on the use of
excessive transitions, excessive elements, and those adapters that can
take away from your video. So now, what really is editing? Editing video? Editing videos in
nothing more than putting different elements of your presentation of videos together to make
a complete story. So you have something to say, but you need to take videos
and other pictures and other elements from
different sources and put them together. That is basically the
art of editing video. And for a content creator, particularly if
you are starting, you might not have the
time or you might not have the resources to employ
people to do all this. That's boring. If
you can ask, great. If you can get people
to do video editing and all the other elements of video production for
you. That is great. But most of the time, there aren't enough resources to engage all this kind
of specialized people. So it is very important that you yourself know the basics. Because the simpler
your video editing is, the better it is for you. So at least if you
know the basic, you can easily do that. It is advisable that you have professional editing
softwares like Adobe Premier, Pro, Grass Valley
videos, femora, and many other editing softwares that are out there that you can use
to edit your materials. However, you will have
to know the basic. One basic thing you must
know is about image sizes. That is the basic and
most essential to noon. You need to know about video editing image sizes,
they are zeros. It makes sense if you
go to my first video, you will have talked
extensively about this and then you can understand
what I'm talking about BAU. I'll touch on them briefly. In video recording, there
are varieties of image sizes that you can
frame your video in. So for instance, if you
look at this image, these are the various sizes that you can frame an image of whatever
access you record any. And each is supposed to tell a different
story about what it is. You add the recording. So first, as this will be a
medium long shots. This long shots. This is a typical close-up. And this is what is
typically a TrueCar. And usually I typically took us depending on what
it is you want to, the viewer to concentrate on. It could be of the face, the eyes like what
we have on screen or sometimes on the
mock or thought, I'd guess just above the chin and then
around the forehead, depending on what
it is that you want the viewer to concentrate on. So these are the
various image sizes and each one is intended to have a specific
effect on the viewer. For instance, in the
close-up visuals is used to depict closeness or two. Depict emotions is like
when you're talking to somebody and it's telling you
a story or whatever it is. There are aspects of
storytelling that you prefer to just let this sit back and listen
to the person. They are aspects
of the stairway. You pay more attention. And then there are certain
aspect of stairway. You really want to look
into the person's eyes. I got to see what is this that the person is feeling or to try and measure the
emotions that the person is speaking with
is the same thing. Whatever it is that
you're recording. This, the need for you to at certain points get closer
to the person asserting. Go back and relax. Asset impact. You want to
get closer to the person. Listen to what it is
that it's talking about because that portion is AGA, very important or it
is very emotional. And you'd like to pay
much more close attention to whatever it is
that is being said. So it is up to you to
determine which part of your story they'd like
to pay close attention. Are you Like the viewer to pay close attention to
in-between these, they are various variations
that you will determine which emits that would best tell the
story that you're telling. Whichever image that you choose. There's a specific them about the story or whatever
it is you are filming. The first basic elements you need to know about
video editing is to understand image sizes and
what is appropriate for. Another important reason why
I would like you to have a basic understanding
of editing is this. To make things simpler for you. Frustrated so many
times by video editors, are they engaged to
edit videos for me? Now because people do not always share the same vision and
enthusiasm that you have. You know, they may not
do things as quickly and as promptly and as professionally
as you will want to. So you give them
deadlines, the message. Whatever I want them to do, they don't pay attention.
They do a different thing. And you have to always
keep on going to them for corrections and fortunate and all these things cost money, time, energy, and resources. So I was virtually forced to
learn the art of additive. Fortunately for me, I
went to film school, so I had a basic knowledge in
all aspects of film making. So it was a little
bit easier for me. But for you who might not have that professional training
and Toulmin's still, you can easily learn
the art of editing or any film production
process for that matter. So it is important. You have a basic knowledge
not only in editing, but all aspects of
video recording. So that after you firmed
are recorded your video, you can then sit down
and then edit it, put your material together and
get your job done on time. And in the way a manner
you want and not depend on others to always
do everything for you. That will help you cut down the cost involved in
video production. Because the more tests
you can do for yourself, the less you have to pay
people to do it for you. So these are the two important
reasons why you must have basic knowledge in
video editing if you move to the second
aspects of video editing, what we call the jump
cut and how to avoid it. Here again, if you
go to math videos, I've talked extensively about jump cuts and what they are. If record your entire video in, let's say a medium shot like I'm doing now
though certainly B's portions of the recording
where I made mistakes or set some things that I think may not be relevant
to what I'm teaching. You have to edit those out. Now, after you've
gotten one video, editors on this and gotten a second video
that you want to join. Now, if both of the
same image say, let's see both of the
same medium size like Amy says I'm using now, if you join those two together, that's the kind of flip that's not too pleasant to the eye. That flip is called a jump cut. And I've seen numerous
videos on YouTube and other social media platforms
where a lot of image, same image sizes were put
together in a lot of jump cuts. It takes a lot away
from your video and it makes it look not
that professional. Let me demonstrate what
I'm talking about. Assuming this is
the clip I want to use for my presentation. As you can see, it is a medium long shots in which
I filmed it in four key. Now, depending on the editing
software you are using, the processes for doing
this might vary slightly, but by enlarge, they
are not that different. You know, once you
get the knock-off it with one editing software, you can go about doing the same thing in other
editing software. This is the process after bringing the matcher
to that timeline. Let's bleach. You should, as a
matter of principle, have listened to my tips are the kind of tools
that you should avoid, those that you should consider buying as a content creator. Okay, so now I've obviously made mistakes and want
to edit them out. So what I do is I go to the end point of where
I would like to maintain. So so I would like to join
these two clips together. But remember, this one
is medium shot the same, and this one is a medium
shot the image sizes. Now let's see what happens
if I join the two together. Now. A content creator. So click on that, jump over there, that
flip. Content creator. You click. That flip is
what we call the jump cut. It's an unpleasant flip. How to avoid this? Is this. You either change the image size of the first flip
or the second clip. I'll prefer to change the
image size of the second clip. So what you do is
double-click on this clip. Go to video. And then from here, using the scale, continue to image size to whatever
it is that you want, either to a medium close-up or even to a
tight close-up or two car. Depending on what you want, whatever it is that you
want, you can do that. Whatever image size
you reduce it to. You can still get
a resolution that is equal to a high
definition resolution. That is an HD resolution. You can only do this if your original material
was recorded in four key. Okay? If the original material
is recorded for K, you can reduce your image set to whatever you want and still get an HD resolution if you
recording any other format, Let's see HD or
standard deviation. When you increase or when you try to get
another image from this, the resultant image
size will be pixelated. That meant it to be black.
It will not be as sharp. You lose the HD quality that you're looking
for data might not be acceptable in certain
professional wake. So to be safe, it's advisable that you record in for K, because in for K, you can always add
list resolution you can get is an HD resolution. To record it for k. And you have the liberty
to get other image sizes that you want
without losing quality. Now, let's look at
how this will look. I've already done
it to save time so that buy-in as
a content creator. So click on my skill share link, which is in the description
to this video below. Then listen to my tips. The kind of equipment
same color. But this time we changed the image sizes or the
point of edits. I maintained the image size. Then because our
editors of the arms, the next image I join it to, I reduced it to a
medium close-up. And then the next edit, I reduced it to a close-up. And then the next edits, I maintained my
original medium shots. Now, let's play it back. See how it looks in
as a content creator. So click on my Skillshare link, which is in the description
to this video below. Then listen to my tips on the kind of equipped
makes very smooth, looks, very professional
and it is much more pleasing on the eye. Now, let's look at the same clip and how it will
look if we add just edited out the undesirable
elements and then join the eclipse without
reducing the image sizes. So this first one
is a medium shots. This one is a medium
shot as well. This is a medium shot as well. And this is a medium
shot as well. Let's see how it looks
like as a content creator. So click on my skill share link, which is in the description
to this video below. Then listen to my tips
on the kind of see the unpleasant flips as a content creator.
So click on that. One input is in the description
to this video below. To make another kind of know, it doesn't look professional. It takes a lot away
from your edit. And then let's compare
it to what we see here IN as a content creator. So click on my Skillshare link, which is in the description
to this video below. Then listen to my
tips on the kind of equipments and gadgets
that you should avoid. This looks much
more professional. It looks like as if our source, if you're using the multiple
camera because it looked like I had a camera
recording in medium shots. Then I had a camera
recording in close-up. And then at that camera
recording in extreme close-up. But in actual fact, it's all the same clip. But I've managed to
kinda image sizes. Are there different edit
points and join them together to make it look
like a multiple camera with, But in fact, this
is the same blip. You can always do this
if you record in for k. So if you intend doing this, make sure that the
original material is always in four key. This is what's referred
to as the jump cuts. And this is how you can avoid it or edit it out in Tamara, which is what I mostly use. The best thing to do is
to record in four key. If you film a
long-short in a fork, a format, you can get
a medium shot from it. You can get a medium
long shot from it. You can get a closer from it. You can even get an
extreme close-up from it. Because for k is four times the resolution
of the normal HD, sometimes it's referred to as
UHD, ultra high definition. Of course, if you're
recording a long shot, you can get a wider,
you miss that moment. What to film would
be your widest shot. You can get high,
but you can get, or the smaller image
sizes from it. So that is how to
avoid a jump cut. Now, we want to talk
about is how to edit a single camera work and make it look like a
multiple camera work. As I said earlier on, when you present a
written or package, everything in just
one image size, it became a little bit boring. It is very, very important
that whatever it is that you are presenting is done in various image sizes and from as many
angles as possible. But for us, as individuals
with channels and websites, we cannot afford to
record everything with multiple cameras
because of the cost and other reasons by
constant record with one camera and make it look
like a multiple camera work. And that's where
Recording in four key matches and math best advice to every content creator. That is, you are
getting a camera. Try and get a camera that
can record in four key. These days. They are prosumer or
pro-consumer cameras, small, but they are capable
of recording for key that can enable you record your material in
one long boring shot. But then during the editing
stage you can make it look like multiple camera away. The fourth thing I would
like to talk about is setting PTS and making it look like a video insects at is
the still picture, Insert and tips on how to make it look like
a video instead. Now, doing a presentation
that might be the need for you to insert the picture or a video of something that
you're talking about. So I'm talking about
video editing now. Maybe they need to
insert a picture of somebody editing a video or insert a video of
an editing process. An inset is any extra
material that you add to the main recording
of your video. Sometimes some insects are
still pictures that we need to put on the main
material. That is great. But they're just putting
a still picture or a video material can also be a little bit boring if you can, and if it's possible. If you have a video material that you want to use an inset, that this would be better. But sometimes you do not have the video material or you
cannot get a video material. So you need to use
a still picture pedestrian bridge on that
video. And then that's it. You can make it look like
a video where it moves slightly so that it
is pleasing to look at and it makes
the whole package looked very interesting. There's a way to go about it
and make it look much more interesting and pleasing and make your whole package very, very interesting to look at. So once again, let me demonstrate how you can
do this with Tamara. Now, again, depending on the editing software
that you use, the procedure for doing
this might be different. I normally use three
different editing softwares. I use femora, I use
Grass Valley videos, and I use Adobe Premier Pro, depending on the chaff
editing I'm doing, I use these three
different editing styles wet usually and most
often I use Tamara. So what I'm going to
demonstrate now is Tamara. Now this is our main clip
that we want to play. It then set some
clips to meet dash, halting relevant for the viewer. So let's play the
clip press and see where we would like to put the insects to the
slippage on that video. And then that's it. You
can make it look like a video where it moves and slightly moves so that it is pleasing to look at and makes the whole package loop
very interesting. Okay, so we want to
put the inset way. I start saying it moves. Okay? So we go to the
media and then select the clip or the third
picture that we want to insects over this particular
moment in the video. Okay, if it is a
video instead to just bring it down implicit
there, and that's all. But this is still
picture because you bring this topic
that down and put it on the next timeline above
where the main video is. Not on the main video, but just above on that timeline, above where the main video is. The main video. And so we put it on the
next timeline above it. And so let's play back
and see how it okay, and so consists of
just a still picture. It's not moving. We want the still picture
to move slightly. So what you first do is
make sure you reduce the. So I'll use the view
size to 25 per cent. So that will guess I can see, I can ask me to look
at what I'm doing. So after you reduce the size to something
that you can monitor, then you can select the inset, double-click on it, and
then this window pop up. Now you go to click
on animation. Then you go to
click on Customize. This window pops up. Now. Go to scale and then increase
the distance slightly, increase the video
insert size slightly, so we just increase it
a little bit slightly. As you've seen, this
slide indicates, The size is increased slightly. That's because I'll need
to create space for the picture to move without
showing the original video. So you go to dare, you put, you put the cursor, that red line at the
beginning of the insects. This shows, this shows you
the actual size of the video, which means there
is space for you to maneuver or move the insect in whichever direction you
want without actually showing the original
video be beneath it. So let's assume I wanted to move the picture
to be appearing, to be moving to the left. So what I do is you create, you take it to the position
you want it to be. We want to be
moving to the left. So after placing it there, then you come and
take the cursor to the end of the insects. Okay. And now you
shifted slightly, just slightly, not too much. No. Okay. Just slightly. You can either use the mouse or you can use the
arrow on your keyboard, which is much more precise. You want it to move,
and that's it. So let's play back and see. Now, immediately you do that. You realize on the timeline, you realize that there are
two dots and then an arrow. This indicates that the
insect has been animated. And this shows the
beginning and end of where the animation will be. So let's play back and
see how it looks like. And slightly moves so
that it is pleasing. So we've got what we want. We want it to start from
the very beginning. So we shift the NOP and said this one wanted
to go to the very end. If you want the movement
to be just halfway, you can print this halfway. And what that will do is and slightly move it will stop by because we want
it to go all the way. You shift it to the end. And so maybe we add
another insets less, or this is a simple
senior in there. Come to the end, the
beginning, sorry. Come to the beginning
of the insects. Double-click on it. And then we increase the size slightly by
increasing the skill. You notice immediately
you do that. The key frame indicates with
the green button there. Then you go to the
end of your insects. On, of course, you can
increase the size. So probably because you can increase how long or
short the instance should be. Okay, so we select it. We want it a little bit shorter. Okay? So you bring your cash up
to the end of the insect. And this time we want it to move from the top
towards the bottom. So we use the arrow key on your keyboard. Okay? Up to that point, you can either use your cursor to
do this movement, which is slightly
difficult for you. Use the arrow key. You can be much more precise. So now let's play it back
and see how it looks, pleasing to look at and makes the whole package loop very
interesting, excellent. So we now have so that it
is pleasing to look at. And maybe you can
even add you okay? And then you can even
add a transition. So we few more, I go to transitions. And there are so many
transitions you can select a whole lot
of transition. Let's assume we want
to use which one does. Okay, let's actually want
to use this transition. You just pull it and put
it in between the two. Now let's see how it looks so that it is
pleasing to look. For. Now, we can go back
to the original size. Zoom level, click on fits. Then we have the original
size is bigger for us to. Okay, so now let's go back and see how every
what we've done so far. It looks to the slippage on that video, and
then that's it. You can make it look like
a video where it moves and slightly moved so that it is pleasing to look at and make the whole package loop
very interesting. Okay, So that's it. So you can re-adjust
all this to suit, whatever it is you want to do. So maybe this one is too long, this inset is too low so
you want to shorten it. And okay, so. You can guess. And then we add a second one. So it will be okay. This what we want. So put your and you can
adjust the transition, that duration as well, okay. By either moving this so
it'd be living there. I just did a little bit. Okay. Then let's go back
and see how it looks to the slippage on that
video. And then that's it. You can make it look like
a video where it moves and slightly moved so that it is pleasing to look at and make the whole package loop
very interesting. So that is how to do the
simple picture insets and make it look very pleasing instead of just
leaving the still picture. Statistic on the video is how
to go about it in femora. Very simple. Let me, other than that,
there are different ways of doing this in femora. Another way of doing it, I'm right-click on the insects. And then you go
to crop and zoom, and then pan and zoom. Okay? And from here, you can also do the same thing. You can either
choose the presets. This is for zooming, this for zoom out. This is to shift the picture
to the left, to the right. Sorry. This. If you want to pick
that to move towards the right and we want the picture to move
towards the left. And this is a rebase. If you do it and you
want the reverse, you just click on
this and it will automatically do it for you. Let's play it back and see. Zooming in and move into direct. This procedure is a
little bit cumbersome. I prefer the other procedure. So this is how it is to go about making a simple
picture in inset, look like a video, inserts. It is Matlock pleasing
map look professional, and that's how to
do it in tomorrow. So that's the end of part
one of video editing. What you must know as
a content creator, video content creation, do
it Like a Pro editing video. But one that incites
tricks, tips, and hacks. Every content creator must know. But before we go,
I'd like to give you a project to work on and
then load up so that we can discuss and then see how well you've understood
what I've said so far. This is a simple project
or a simple assignments. I want you to undertake, film and edit a one-minute video with a single camera with the following attributes or anything else that
you want to do it, you can film the dialogue or whatever it is
that you want to do. Any video material, I guess, just from something of up to a minute duration with
the following attributes. One, edit it to look like a multiple camera work
without any jump cuts. And then two in set a couple of relevant still pictures to
look like video insects. So folks, this is where I bring this first part of video
editing to a close. My next class will be on video content creation
and do it like a pro, video editing software,
apps and tools. The pros and cons. We talking about
why name tags and board graphics are important in social media
content creation. Essential tools you must have to edit anything professionally. Why it is absolutely important to invest in software you use. All we will need for video content creation and then leveraging your editing
skills to n 11, the opportunities available
in part two of video editing. These are the things we're
going to be talking about. But for now, we'll
end part one here. Don't forget to work on the project or assignment
that are giving you. Load it up. And then let's discuss and then get better
if you have any questions, don't hesitate to get in
touch with me so we discuss, learn from each other and better our schools
as content creators. Thank you very much,
god bless you, and I'll see you very soon
with part two, video editing. Thank you.
