Interface and Media Pool: First thing we need to do is set up our local database. When you open up the software, you have this project libraries. If you don't see it, you have this little button here and you can see your local database. This is where you keep your files or the database, you can allocate this database to an external drive. For example, you just add a new project library and you put the name that you want. You can see here, if I do reveal in finder, it will show me where it is on the hard drive. Now all you have to do is open up this entitled project. You always have the entitled project. When you open up the project, you have a couple of buttons here where you can import and export your projects. And you can create new project. But this is also a new project. You always have this one. If we double click on this one, the software will open. And this is the main workspace. Here you have your pages. The software is divided by pages like it was, different softwares. You have the media, you have the cut at it, Fusion, color, fair light, and deliver. What you can do is right click over here and set show icons and labels. This way you can see what every page is. We start by using the media. This is the media P. This is where you grab your files and you organize your files. I have my files here. What I need to do is just important. You have this media storage window over here that you can turn on and off. You have the clone tool but you have also audio metadata inspector and capture on the right side. You can close all of them by clicking on the icon. And this will all be closed and you only see your media pool. This is where you bring your files. The first thing we need to do is just import into our media pool from our media storage. I'll grab my files. I had to copy some files to my desktop. So now I have my option of desktop right here and I can import my folder videos. If I go into videos, I have a lot of videos here that you can watch. And I'll leave those videos up on the web page so you can download them if you want. This is videos from an old version of Web Summit. Especially for Web Summit, what we need to do is we want to import the videos into our media pool. There's a lot of ways to do it. The simplest way is just to select a few and drag them into the media pool. This is the best option. It will ask you to change the project frame rate. This is why it's showing because the framerate of the project that's already set up, it's different from the source. I might say, okay, I want to change, this will change my project. And we'll open up video clips over here. As you can see, you can go ahead and already scrub through them. And let me just turn off the sound so that we don't have any sound right here as I scrub to the videos because the sound doesn't even matter on this one. So what you need to do is just scrub into them. You can see why you want, you can see me here on the web summit, last version. You can see all these files. And then what you need to do is start editing from them. But you can organize this part in a very simple way. You have this master, this is where you import all the files. What you need to do is create a new, being a new bean is like a new folder. You import the new bean, and you create the new bean and you name it. For example, day one, day one, day one, okay. Now you have day one. For example, let's say from this one to this, it's from day one. What you need to do is just drag them into day one. Let's create a new one. You can right click over here or just go here. Right click New Bean, or you have the shortcut. Let's call it day two. And now we just grab them into day two. And it's organized, There's a lot of ways to organize already files, but for this case, this is pretty much what you need to do for your files in the beginning just to get them organized in the software. You also have smart beans within keywords. This is to make really high end selections. For example, if you want to make it by brand whatever it is, you can create those keywords and you have those selections over here. But you can always access your media pool whenever you're in the software. Whether it's in the cut page, on the edit page, whatever, Here you have all the files. If you want to import some more, you just grab them. All the files are linked base. This means if you delete them from the media pool, you're not deleting them from the hard drive, you're just deleting them from your media pool. The links to the hard drive, let's say you're using an external drive, be careful because once you're importing, you're not actually copying the files, you're just driving and making some links. So be aware, just copy the files first to a hard drive that you're going to have it plugged on your laptop. Once we have our selection of videos, you can see the videos also over here. You can select one of the videos, double click, open in the window, just scrub into the video. It's very nice just to see it over here on the di pool. You can also see in another form, for example, like this, if you open up the day one folder, you have this view view in the term nil or even view as list. So you can see all the properties from the files, whether it's a resolution, whether it's frame per second, whatever it is. Okay, let's jump into the second module. 3. Timelines and Rough Cut Clips: Okay, module two, and we're starting to go into the cut page. We have two ways of editing videos with Da Vinci. We have the cut page, it's a simple way, just cut and paste. It's very basic, but you can actually do pretty much everything. For this course, I'm going to focus mainly on the cut page and not on the edit page. We jump into the cut page. As you can see, we already have our media pool open. This is where we see our files. I have some other tabs here like sync in transitions, titles, and effects. This tree, we're going to look at them. We have the quick export full screen and inspector on the right side. If we go to media pool, what we have is master day one because this is the one that it was opened. What you can do to access the other ones, you see that little icon over there. You can go ahead and select Master. You could select day one, day two, if you want to see the folders like you had on the media pool on the cut page, because this is mostly to make it faster, you won't be able to, but you can go ahead on the arrow and selected. You'll be able to use it on the edit page. It's a little different but it has much more options and sometimes it might be confusing. Let's jump back to the cut page. Let's say we are starting to edit the day one. What we need to create is a new timeline. For example, each timeline is like a project. Let's say we want to make five shorts or five reels. We want to create the first one, we go ahead right click here and we can create the new timeline. Or you can use the shortcut command n. Or in case of PC, it's control n, create a new timeline. What happens is it's doing the start time code. As you can see, sometimes it has the 01 at the beginning. This doesn't really matter because you're not working on time code basis. This is for online. Let's say time line one instead of time line one. Well, let's call it real one. We would like probably two video tracks because we can change between them and audio tracks. Let's say we'll put two also because we want some noise from the background. And we're going to insert some music, the audio track Hystero for online. And let's do an empty timeline. As you can see here you have project settings. And here we have to make some changes because we didn't set up the project settings. That's this little icon at the corner where you can set up the project settings. It doesn't really matter because we're setting up here for our real. If you tick that off, you're going to format. You select the time resolution and 1920 by 1080 full HD, but we're going to select the used vertical resolution. As you can see now it changes 1080-1920 instead of 1920 to 1080. It's fine. I don't have to change anything else, but actually I do. Depending on your phone or whether you're capturing with your phone or with the camera, you need to be aware of the frame rate. In the beginning, Da Vinci asked you if you want to change the frame rate depending on the files, but you actually have to think on the frame rate of the delivery. In case of Instagram, it's 30 frames per second. You just have to put this mismatch resolution scale full framed with crop. So it's going to scale the projects up within the monitor, you don't have to make any changes within the output, Within the output, nothing else to change. And within color, nothing else to change. For this kind of delivery, all you need to do is to change the name, Everything here and in the format use 1080 vertical resolution, 30 frames per second. And let's create. Now you can see that we have our real and our vertical video to work with. And as you can see, the place where the timeline was is inside the master, not inside the day one. If you want to make it inside the day one, just drag it to the day one and it's fine. You already have it inside the day one, we have our real open and now what we need to do is drag our clips to our timeline. There's a lot of ways to do it. Let's say you want to just drag it first and then cut it on the timeline. Or the other option that you can do is just double click the video and edit the in and out point of the video. It's the piece of the video that you need. Let's say we want from here to here. I just want this transition here. And I'll mark the in and out, and I'll drag this into my project. As you can see, once you change the timeline, if you're scrubbing to the videos, this is what's going to happen. You can change it up here so you can watch the video over at the source. Not the project. You can see the difference just changing by button. You can see whether you're looking at the video, the full video, because I shot this horizontally, I want to see it like this. Then once I make my ins and outs, and I'll drag it to my timeline just by having that short period that I need. Because I might want to focus on this guy over here. Move my image. Because it was centered. It's not focusing on him, but to have better quality, you shoot vertically. Also. That way you don't have to make any crops or changes like that. It's just a walk around on the web summit. Let's just grab endpoint. And I do this by pressing the, on my keyboard for, and I'll press it's for out and I have my selection. If I go back to my project, as you can see here, the in and out is just that piece. Now you see it's not the full video like we had. It's just the selection. If you go back to the selection, this is all we're seeing when we select like this. Because now the video has a mark in Mark out. You can change it later if you want to grab another part of that video. Grab that and drag it down here. There's two ways to drag it. You can drag on this one. You can see you have mostly two time lines You can drag on this one or you can drag down here. It's the same thing over here. This first time line that you see is the full length of the timeline. The one on the bottom is just a zoomed part of it. Whether if you have your playhead over here, this is the zoomed part of that little piece. You cannot control the zoom here. You don't have options to control the zoom. Just scrub to front and end as you put other files over here. Let's just grab this one. I'll double click on this one. Let's say I want out part I drag, you can see you can drag it in here or you can drag it directly in here. Let's just, let's grab this one and put it over at the end. If you drag it all the way through the end, this timeline, it reduces to two. Now you have one first clip and a second clip. And you can see the transition over here. If you press Play to press Play, it's the space bar. You see the jump cut over there. You can also do here play backwards. Or you can use three shortcuts that are very useful. It's the JKL, just to make it faster or forward. Okay, this isn't one way to scrub to the videos. Okay, let's say we have our transition over here. I don't like the movement at the end. I want to cut a little piece of this I can do very easily, is just select this clip. Go right to the end of the clip. And you can see that your mouse courser changes. You can click and drag all the way where you have your playhead. Actually, it snaps to the playhead. It makes it even easier to edit because it will grab that playhead. Now you have your transition over there. Let's say we go back to the beginning. In the beginning, after this girl passes the image I want over here. But I don't want to go ahead and grab all the weight from the beginning. What I can do, I can use a keyboard shortcut that it's command B for blade. And what I did, I did a cut on the clip. And now I select the first part and just press delete. That whole part is deleted. And now I have my first clip and my second clip. Okay, this is the pretty basic of it, just writing clips into the timeline, just moving them around, just grabbing the end and the back, making a cut. So that you can get rid of parts, you can actually make cuts in the middle. Let's say we want to cut here. Make a cut command B and make another cut around here. Now what I can do, I can select this part in the middle and if I press the Lit, I just have to press the Let. You can see that the other clips just magnetic connect to the first one. Now you have this jump cut of an image like okay, it's, we could use some zooming effects so that we could make this transition work better instead just of a jump cut. We'll get into that in the next module. 4. Editing: In this new module, we're going to look at moving up the files and moving up the editing the clips. Getting some other stuff in here. What we need to do, as you can see, we have our timeline and now let's say we want to put this clip back in the beginning. Let's say we want to start with this one. All you need to do is just click and drag. You can drag it over there. You can see that the clip is going to push the other one forward if I leave it there. Now this is the first clip, the other one is the second. And then the third clip. You can do scrubbing like this with every clip if you actually, let's say we want to put a new part of it. Let's just grab something from this one. Okay, let's put some part of this one. Let's do in and out point over here. And we want to make it like a role now all you need to do is drag it. And we can drag it on top of this one. Because we added the second video line. Let's say you don't have a second video track and I'm going to delete the track. As you can see here, I don't have a second video track because I forgot to put it. If you just go ahead and drag and drop over there, even if you don't have the video track, you can see that you can put it on top. You will automatically create the second video track this way once you scrub the video, now you press play, you see the other part changes back to our clip. We can see our transition here and is as simple as this. So you have your clips here. Let's make some changes like zoom in, Zoom out what you need to do. Every clip that you select has the properties for the changing of the properties. There's two ways to do it. You can go ahead if you're doing watching the source clip, the timeline. You can see here when you're selecting the timeline, let's say you want more space out of this. It doesn't really matter because this one is vertical video. But we can click here. This is the options where you can transform your video directly over there. What you can do, you can, for example, resize the video. Okay, let's say you want to resize the video. Or let's say you want to get not the central part, but the part on the side. Now you can see this person talking here. And I can have them focusing on that part of the video and not the center of the video. This is a very quick transform. By using this, you have values. We're going to look at those values that you see here. You can also watch them on the inspector, probably on this window, it's more precise. You can see here, you can reset. For example, the zoom, let's say we want to zoom in, zoom out. This is where you zoom in your image and you can put it back. Reset the value. Move the position over here just on X. This way you're not moving the damage up and down. You're making sure that you just moved damage to the side. You can use rotating. Let's say you want to open up your clip with a fast rotation like this, then it goes up to zero. Just to do an animation, you can do anchor point. This is the point where you grab the video. As you can see, the anchor point here is grabbing the video by the middle. When we're using rotation, it's rotating by that part. If we change the anchor point, for example, let's say we put the anchor point over there on the top. When you use rotation, it's rotating from that point. What we need to do, reset this, all of this. And I can actually use this pitch to change it like this. Maybe you want to do some lettering and some lettering going up. I know you know the reference, but you also have this yaw that you can actually make this tre D movement. Let's do it like this. And you still have the flip, horizontal or vertical. Let's say you put your phone upside down so you can shoot like closer to the floor. And then you want to move the, the video. You can use the flip buttons over here. It's very quick to do this. You have a bunch of options, but all those options are also over here. We have cropping. You can crop the video, a part of it, It's cropping from the side. You can turn off, and you can turn on and off. Just to see, let's say zoom or without zoom, you can see the difference between one and the other. This is also helpful and this one is very good because it's the dynamic zoom, this will make the zoom that we want automatically. What I mean by this is As you can see, this green part is the zoom. It will start with zooming on that and finish on zooming out. It's not zooming in, it's zooming out. If we go back and press play now you can see it's very zoomed on that guy. And it's zooming out. But because we have the whole video, this is processing the zooming out from the beginning of the clip to the end. This is not what we want. We want just a little bit in the beginning what we can do, for example, on this one turn on. But what we do, we move just a little bit of the video and we're going to make a cut command B, and I'll make a cut. What happens is now I have my zoom from this beginning on this clip over here, I go into dynamic zoom and turn it off. If I now press play as you saw, you have just the zoom in the beginning. Let's change the window so that we don't see the zooming as you can see here. Let's go into zoom part. You see here, you see the zoom out very fast and then it doesn't have any zoom. I make a cut in the beginning of the clip just to zoom in that part to make it faster. This is very fast to do and once you get the hang of it going to edit your videos in no time. This is all the things you can do now, Let's say for example, on this little part here, I want to focus more on those guys at the table. What I'll do is I'm on the transform. I'll grab those, I'll move it over here. What I can do, I can zoom in like this over at that guy. Now if I go back, let me just do, because I pressed that button now if I press play, I can see that guy zoomed in. My clip is already changed. So you can see all the changes that you can make here. They are very fast to do, very intuitive to work with. You have all these options from transformations with zoom position angles, you can crop a video. Let's say you have two people talk. For example. Let's say we want to put two videos at the same time. I can even do one video here. This video like this, I'm just using the legs. I'm going into crop, I'll crop the top right at the middle. Now I'll grab another video. I'll put it over here. I'll go back to the end. I'll select this one and make a cut. This part here. The second part, I'm going to delete it because I don't want to using this part. I actually believe this part in the bottom, it's almost the same, it's the same clip. But what I'll do now on the top one, I'll go into the video. I'll go into crop, and I'll crop the bottom. This way I'll have one video and a second one. Okay, Now I have two videos at the same time, look as a press play. I have one video at the, one video at the top. Of course, if it is not centered, because let's say we want not to crop as much, what we could have done is we can go into cropping. You can crop the videos here. I can crop like this and move the video up within the transform just to have more people centered on the bottom one doing the same thing. I'll go into crop, I'll just move the crop up a little bit, and in the transform I'll move it down a little bit. I'll leave that little bar in the middle just so I can see the division between both of them. Now I have two clips At the same time you see two parts people walking. This could make a cool effect and jump into the big one. Also, you have to utilize all the screen that you have, it's not too big. Don't forget that you have some buttons over on the right side and on the bottom information over there. Be careful when you're using video for social media like this. What else can we do? We have the zooming. We have also this opacity. This opacity, You can make a transition like this. I'll teach you on the fourth model how you can create key frames to animate stuff. But for now, all you can see here is the transitions that are very simple. All the options that you have in video is transform Cropping, Dynamic Zoom. It's the one that you zoom in and out automatically from the beginning to the end of the clip. This way, if you have a small clip, it will make the zoom faster. Then you have Composite, where you can composite images with one another, similar to Photoshop. If you already know Photoshop, you have compositing modes like add color, burn, et cetera. You have opacity, you have speed change, stabilization, lens correction, re time. We don't going to go into all of them, I'm just making sure you have the right tools so you can edit your social media videos. Let's jump into fourth model. 5. Keyframes: All right, jumping into this module, we're going to work with some key frames, just simple animations. Let's say we want these two clips that we have here, one coming up from the top, another one coming up from the bottom, and this one coming down from the top. What we need to do is we'll go select the first one. What we need, we can turn off the transformation over here on the screen because we're working on the inspector at the beginning. There's this concept of key framing. Key framing, this means that you put a keyframe on time, saying that at this point you're at a specific position, and other point in time you're at a different position. You always need two key frames. Two key frames, one at the beginning, saying where you are and where you're going between those key frames. This is where you have your animation. What we'll do is at the beginning of the clip in the position, in this case, I'll use a keyframe and you can see the right button over there. As I turn on, this means I recorded my first key frame. What I want to do, I want to record the second one, because I want this to move a little fast. Let me just press plate to see how fast it is. Right about here. I want the animation to be done. I put the second key frame. As you can see, I put the key frames first without changes because the image is already constructed, it's already in place. What I need to do is I need to go back to the first key frame and make the changes, because I want the image to come scrolling down. You can see here, once you create your key frames, you have this little arrow. You can navigate to the first key frame, or you can navigate to the second key frame. Let's go to the first. And what I'll do, I'll move my position in the Y axis. And I'll move it all the way up until my image is outside the frame. And what I need to do is I'm going to do the same thing on the image from the bottom. I'll go into position, make sure you have the clip selected or else you're making changes on the first clip on this one. I'll make changes on this one. I'll make a keyframe here because I want them at both at the same time. What I'll do, I'll use this trick that I'll select the clip on the top. I'll navigate to the second key frame. Then I select the clip on the bottom, and I give it a keyframe. This way I have the key frames exactly at same time. Now I navigate to the first one in the beginning, in the y axis, I'll put it down outside the image. It's done. It's as simple as this. If I press play, you can see you have your animation. You can be very creative with this animation. We're also going to introduce some titles and some effect. We'll do that on the next module. Within transformation, you can make a transformation like this. Let's say we want to make a transformation out of this one. Because we don't want to just to cut it, make a cut like a fast cut. I want to go into dark. What I'll do right about here, I'll go into composite on the opacity, I'll do the same thing, one key frame at 100. And at the end what I'll do, I'll put this not the key frame, but this keyframe at zero. This will do a fade transition. Let's watch. It fades into black. And now it moves the other two clips just clamping down. Okay, this is pretty much you need to know about animation. You can be very creative with all this movement, all options that you have here. If you see a little button like this, it means it has a key frame. Okay, let's jump into module five. 6. Transitions, Titles and Effects: Okay, in this module we're going to look into some titles, Transitions and Effects. Let's first jump into transitions. You go up here and you select transitions. We made the manual transitions do using the key frames. And this is a very useful way of learning about transitions because this way you can do as you want, if you want to at the same time do a fade out. And do, you can do all of those at the same time with the transitions. Your limit to what the transition has to offer. Say we're going to put a new clip over here. Let's just go back into Dipole and I'll grab this clip and I'll put it at the end. Now I have this passage over here and I want to make a transition over here. I'll go into my transitions and you can see you have all these transitions here. Some of them are just for wedding purposes or whatever. Some of them you're not going to use because they're spiral wipe whatever it is, it's too cool for this. But let's say we want to open up like this and you can want to use the center wipe. You just need to drag this into the middle over there. You can see it didn't do anything. I'll try again and I'll drag it down here. And the reason it's not doing anything because you see it's flashing red. This means there's not enough time to make a transition once you're thinking about the transition. And if you look at the transition as the transition is going on, you need a little bit of video from the first video over that passage. You need a little bit of the beginning of the other video to make the transition. What you need to do is very simple, just remove a little bit, remove another bit from there. And now you removed a little bit from the end of that clip. A little bit at the beginning. And now you can do your transition if you just drag it now over there, you can see you can drag it there or you can drag it here. Once you're dragging, you can see that you're going to put over at the beginning of that one, or in the middle of both, or in the beginning of that. You can see it's not available. There's only one way to do it. Let's just put it in the middle this way it's just doing the transition at the middle. And as you can see here, you press play and you have your transition. You can go through all of them. Maybe you find one that you like the most. If you want, for example, to use just a blur, dissolve. This one is pretty cool. You can just drag over there and you replace that one. You cannot use multiple transitions at the same time. If you want to use that, it will be composition within moving. This is why I usually teach within using the key frames first. Because within the key frames, you can actually use an effect to make a transition. You can create that transition with the blur and with all the options. And you have that manually set up for the transition better than the ones that are pre made. It's limited to what they have to offer. But some of them for this quick video editing, they're fine. Let's say we want to do this faster. What you need to do is just go ahead on the transition, make it smaller. Just grab the end of it and make it smaller. This way the transition is much faster as you can see here. Now it's just like my computer is jumping. Okay, It's rendering something. Maybe it's because of the recording of the screen. As you can see here, it's making this fast transition with the blur. Some of them are heavier than other ones. Let's say we use just a simple A star, okay? Just a fast maybe it's not too bad just to use a star like that. This is the use of the transitions. Just go ahead and experiment with them. All of them, it's pretty useful. Some of them have options. Once you select the transition, you see on the inspector, you have transition and you have options. For example, here I have my star, I have my star over here, let's say I want to change it to something else. I have a star. A square iris. Iris. And all of these options are pretty much what you have here. Let's say barn door, it's already there. Let's say a box, let's say a clock wipe. All you need to do is change over there, and now you have a clock wipe. It was later on the day and you made that transition. This is pretty all you need to do. Also you have cross fade for audio. We'll jump into audio in a little bit, but it will make the transition for the audio also. Jumping from transitions, we'll jump into titles. As you can see here, you have the option titles, you have a couple of options here. You have titles, the basic ones, and you have these fusion titles. The Fusion ones. That means you can actually go into Fusion and make changes. We're not going into those, we're just going to use these simple ones. Let's say at the beginning of the clip we want to use some graphics. What you could do is grab this, for example, text. I'll drag it and put it at the beginning. Now I have some text, then I have my image. Let's say the text is taking too long. I can grab just the end of it and put it over there. Now my text is just this then goes into this. Actually, you can go back to transitions and let's say we want to use a cross dissolve between these two. What I, let me just put it smaller. What I have is from text, I'll jump into my video. Okay, this is pretty simple to use. And you jump it like this. What options do we have for the text? If you click on the text, if you go onto the inspector, you have a bunch of options. You have your custom cycle. Let's say this is Web Summit, day one, you can press Enter and press again. Day one, we'll do it like this. I'll select the one. I'll increase the size, but you can see you cannot increase the size of an individual one. What you need to do is create three texts, simple as that. Create one on top of the other. And it's fine. You can edit each one and the background is transparent, so it's fine. You can go one on top of the other. Let's say we have this like this, the size of tracking day one. I don't like this font. I want to change the font. I want to use my company's font or whatever it is, or my logo font. And I'll use another font that I have here or something like that. Whatever it is, it's fine. I actually have this option that it's very cool that it's the right on. You can see right on here. What we could do is we can utilize that key frame thing and press the keyframe, right I'm out at the middle. I'll say it's already done. As you saw, I didn't actually create the second key frame, but as I move the time and I make a change on the value, it automatically creates a key frame. What I have now is just sipping in day one transition. How cool is that? Very simple. And you have your text also. What you can do, let's say we want to put some text over here. We actually want to do a trick where we have some text behind those videos. What we need to do, we'll grab these two. As you can see, I just click on the great part, like those two and I'll move them up. But because I don't have anything on the bottom you won't allow me to do. I need to grab first a title. I'll grab a text. I'll put it between there. I'll grab these two and I'll put it on top like this. And you can see now it has gray area. I'm going to delete it. I'll increase the text to fit the clips like this just so I can have my transition at the same time again. Okay, I have my clip and over there you can already see the custom title over there in the background. What we need to do, let's turn over here the video so I can see my title. You can see there are turned off over there. I'm going to grab my text and I'll say, people walking, something, whatever it is, I'll put the text over here, people, let me see if I fits the middle actually over there, that division. I'll turn this on. Turn that on exactly at the middle. Great. As you can see, it's like this. What happens is now I have something like this, people, it's at the middle. It's all about creativity and you can be very creative with this and makes a movement and everything. You have your titles, You have this title to scroll like credits, You have this middle, lower third. It's just for names or naming someone like this or on the left. All of this is customizable. You can select the text and you have a bunch of options over here. As you can see here, you only see audio track. You select the text, you can see the text. Plus you have all these options. Tab spacing, advanced controls. You have so many things that you could do, you can go into layout. Point center, z, whatever it is, you can animate characters, create shading on the text. Actually, let me just show you the shading because this is quite useful. Let's put some text over here on the top. On this case, I'll put it on the top. Over here I have this title. But as you can see, because of the image in the background, it doesn't read. Well, Let's say we want to put a bigger font. Let's select Impact one or something like that. That's big. Where's the impact? Here we go. Impact font. Let's make it bigger. Okay, We can read it a little bit better, but still we need some stroking on the outside. You go into shading. You can see you have select element. This is where you change the color. Let's say we want to change it into this just popped up my color window over here and I want to change the color. Just go into there, but I want to leave it at white. You have all these options in the Macbook on the PC a little different, but mine is using this. Let's say we want to create the stroke. As you can see here on the appearance, you can select the stroke. But if you select the stroke now your element one is just a stroke. What I need to do is okay, element one is just the field color. I'll go into element two. I'll press enable. Now I select the stroke and I have the thickness of it. I'll select, for example, black. Now I have a stroke like this. Okay. Now you can see much better the text. It's not doing anything with the background and it's very readable like this. All right, that's pretty much about text. Let's jump into effects. This last part of effects, what you need to do is go into effect and you have all these options here. You have a bunch of effects already on the software. If you have the studio version of Da Vinci, you have even more effects. Some of them, some of them might show up like this area. Actually, they're already here. But you can see on my laptop, I don't have the studio version Mac over there here. On purpose for this course, I use the free version so that you can have access. It's free, so it's very useful the ones that don't work with the free version, you have this option saying Davinci resolve studio. You cannot use lens flare, you cannot use the halotation, can use the Gaussian blur, you can use the blocks blur. There's a lot of effects that you can use. Let's say we want to use some binoculars. You can preview the effect just by moving your mouse over it. Okay. For example, this digital glitch, very used. This has been used so many people use this and it's free. And you have the CTV like it was. A capture can like this or a DCLR. You can see the DCLRjust DSLR for vertical, but we want to use night. Let's just do video call one, okay? And you can see video call. It's similar to a video call. What I do, I'll drag this into my clip now. My clip is that video call. Okay, let's say we want to use this and we want to make some changes on the effect. As you can see here, we have the transform, the cropping and everything. All you need to do is going on the tab of effect. In effect, you have all the controls over here. The position, you can zoom into the image to make a transition, to get out of the call, you can actually move, so you have the call button color, the shadow of the screen over there. The alpha is the transparency. Some options that you have here also have some settings. But this video call actually doesn't have too many options. Let's say I want to delete it. Just go on to over there. You can turn it off and you won't see it, but you won't see the clip. All you need to do is go over there, you see the trash can, you delete the filter, and that's it. You back to normal. Let's say we want to use some, okay? Real light is for studio. Okay. Let's say we're zooming in the image a little bit and I want to use some sharp will sharpen the image a little bit. You have to reach limitation for Da Vinci. Okay. This one actually, it's for Davinci resolve. This is the option for buying. Not yet. I don't want to buy because I already bought it. I don't want to use it. Here you can see the effect, but you cannot. It will give you this watermark. Let's remove it. Let's emboss mirrors. Let's say we want to use the effect. You just have to go through all the effects and see whatever it does, because we don't have time for this course to look all into them. But I'll give you just a couple mirror, the cool effect, let's say I don't want anything from this on the mirrors. I can use the angle here. You can see you can do some cool effects. Or I can even open up the position and I can make a transition like this. You can see all of them have key frames. It's just play around a little bit with this and you're done with your effects. 7. Music and Basic Color : Okay, so we have our project almost done. What we want to do is go ahead and create some music for the project. We have all of this. We say day one and we want to put some music. You can jump into a website, for example, like Mix Kit, you have three songs. You go into music and you search something and let's say you have vital elements, but you also see the music here that you can use. They are free. Ramp it up, we'll use this first one. Okay, cool. It's more than cool for this, I'll just download it. You have in val elements here, the promoting. But we'll jump into our media pool. We'll grab our file from our downloads directly into here into our media pool. Now I have my music here. It's very simple to use. I go back into my cut page. I go back to my media pool over here on the top. And now I have my music over there and I want to use the music. Let's say I don't want to use the whole music. What I can do is I can go back here and listen to the music. Let me just turn on the audio. Okay? As you can see here from the wave form, I wanted to start it over there. I want to end it over here at the outpoint or because this has an end over here, I'll use the outpoint over here and probably the endpoint now. I just want to drag this over there to my clip. As you can see, it's not filling up the whole thing. What I'll do, I'll grab the end, so make it to the end. Now I can actually increase the beginning. It begins like this, and you can see it's just starting right away into the music. What I'm going to do is two things. You can also use transitions for the audio. Let's just use the cross dissolve. Over here you can see the cross dissolve. You cannot use it on the audio. What you need to grab on the top you see video. You have audio. You have just three simple transitions. They're pretty much the same. You're going to notice too much difference on the crosspades. You can see this one has the orange thing. It's the more common use one. I'll use this crosspade, I'll put it right at the beginning. It's not allowing me to do it. Okay, there we go. I have my cross fade now. My clip starts like this. All right, there we go. Now at the end, also, the music already ends like this. The music okay, as you can see, the music faded down. What I'm going to do, I'm going to fade down my image at the same time. Right about here, I go into my video clip on the top. I'll go into the opacity on composite. I'll give a key frame over there. At the end of this fade, I'll just put the opacity at zero. Now what I have is, there we go. We still hear some things, some voices in the background. But this is our transition as you can see here. The video, also the clips have some sound. What you can do just to listen to sound from one or the other, You have the sound for the track, let's say you don't want to use, you can mute the whole track. Instead of going clip by clip, just muting each clip, you can mute the whole track. Now you can only hear the music and not the sound. If you do the opposite, I don't know if you're hearing, but it's already showing that sound from the background. Just a little small thing. If you want to mix them up a little bit, you can actually mix up the tracks. Let's say the music is too loud. I can go into my clip and I can bring the volume down. Now, both of them are actually low, I could increase. But if you select the clip and go here, you're increasing the volume of just one clip. If you want to increase the volume of the track. If you select over there, you can see that if, once I select there, the option here audio, he says track level. So what I could have done is I can bring the track level up a little bit. Now I can hear more of those background sounds. Okay? But be careful with the cuts, because on the cuts you might notice that transition, and this is pretty much it, all you need to do. Let's say we want to mute that track. We'll just put the music, we have our animation done with some text in the beginning. Some transitions, some folds like this. All we have to do is just deliver the file. Before we deliver, I just have this bonus thing to say to you. We have the edit page, we didn't jump into the edit page. You might want to use this edit page. It works in a little different. If you have experience with some video editing software, this might be similar to the other ones because you move the clips and the clips stay where you move them, not like in the cut page. If you move them here, they snap to one another. It's a little different the method, but you have, you have so many more options, but you have a lot of stuff you might want to do more advanced course. Hit me up and we'll talk about that infusion. This is like the after effects, this is the animation of here you have some options that you can use. Do some masking, do some, a lot of stuff. It's very useful. Also, if you want to do create more motion graphic stuff, then we have color in color. I don't want to go too deep in this because this is too much information. But what you can see here, you can see all your clips. Let's say in this clip particularly your color is too dark. What you have here, one way to just simple tweak the color a little bit. You have all these options of menus here. And this one with the wheels, you have the primary color wheels. This is all you need pretty much to work some color on this. You go, for example, on the lift, let's say this is too dark, you have the color here. But I don't want to change the color of the clip. It's fine. But I want to go on this wheel over here just to increase a little bit. The darkness on the lift is just push from the darker colors, you have the whole gamma. And it pushes up everything. And you have the gain also pushing up all the colors. It's much brighter. Now let's say we want just to bring down that screen a little bit. You here for example, the highlights. I'm bringing down the highlights as you can see. Now I can see almost what is at the screen. I cannot see it because the capture with the camera, if you don't have quality on capture, you're not going to have quality on the editing. But just a little tweak on the color on this clip. On the other clip, you can have to do it individual by each clip. There's also ways of doing the whole clips, but because it's different clips, it doesn't make too much sense to edit the whole thing unless you're doing just like a black and white thing. In effect in that way you could have done differently. But this is about the thing about color page. Now you have the fair light. It's sound design, sound mixing, sound composing page. But we're jumping into the liver. This is where you going to export your files in the next module. 8. Export and Deliver: Okay, for the last module, we are working on delivering into the export files. Delivering is the term, but we are going to export the whole clip. You have a bunch of options. Once you go into deliver, you have the custom export. But if you scroll down here, you can see that you already have options like for example, Tiktok. Actually you don't have Instagram. But it's the same thing. You already know, Tiktok, all you need to do, you need to name your file. We delete the name and let's put it real day one or real one, day one location. We'll just put where we want to record. Let's say we want to record in our desktop. We'll press Save. It's using vertical resolution, 1080 by 19 2030 frames per second, P4h 264. It's already with all the settings that you need. Actually what you can do, you can actually upload directly to Tiktok. You have to connect your account. I don't recommend this because you might using your phone or you might using another platform. Or you might using a platform that distributes to all the platforms. I actually don't recommend this MS project. Okay, let's use the render to Q. What this will do, it will put your clip on the render que. This means if you have another time line, if we go back to our editing, let's say we already have the day two. Let's just create a new time line. For example here, second time line, We'll put it on the day two. We'll grab a bunch of clips. Put it on the second time line. We'll put it here. Okay, all the clips already done. We go into deliver. Now we have the second clip. This is all the clips. As you can see here, frame rate is at 50 different because it's our project and our project is different. Let's say we want to go back and change the project. Go back in our timeline, the project is horizontal. If you want to change it, you can right click and go to Timeline Settings. In this case, I don't want to use project settings. I want to use again, the vertical resolution. There we go. Also the other option that we said, we want to use the frames per second. But as you can see here, it's not allowing me to change because we already have the files over here. No problem. We'll put it like this. Can change actually the project settings like it was talking in the beginning. If you go on this little corner here on the timeline frame rate, we put it at 30 and we press Save Change frame rate, it's fine. Now, at the time line settings, it's still at 50 because of the clips. But if you delete all the clips, you change the timeline settings. You can put whatever you want, but because you already have clips over there, you cannot change it. Like that's fine. You know you have to do the changes in the beginning so you don't have this issue. But we go back into the deliver. The good thing about this is you can deliver both reels at the same time. Now we have the second timeline. We're going to use another Tik Tok already. We call it real day one Desktop. Same thing. 30 frames per second. Okay. Add to render Q All you need to do now. As you can see, you have the time line called real one and the other one, we didn't give a name, it's time line two. Now if you have just one selected, you will only render one. The first one, you'll only render one. If you click outside, it will render all or you can select all of them that you want and press Render all. Once you press Render All this is going to render the file. As you can see, it's now working on it and rendering our composition. Okay, it's already doing 2% 11% as you can see there, it's going through the whole edit and rending out the file. If you want to use someone talking and you want to put those captions, there's actually a way to use captions inside of Davinci resolve. I'll show you just in a little bit just an extra bonus for this course. But also you can use an app like, for example, on your phone, called captions. That's very easy, and you can find those links in the description of the course. Okay, here we go. We have our files done. As you can see here at the desktop, we have our real day one were the zooming the transitions and everything, and then we have our day two. Our day two is just a couple of clips that I put it together and that's fine. You have your reels and this is pretty much all you need to export them and send them to your phone, or upload them from your computer to your social network.
