Diving into Adobe Illustrator. First into setup is our art board. Commonly we always want to make sure that our cardboard is a square for our social media streams. So our research in mind to 18 by 18 inches. Then I'll give my document a name. Next is we'll bring in the picture we are going to cartoon. We're going embedded. Resume for embeddedness saw that when the image location is changed, it will not be affected here. So we're going to centralize it by first adjusting the image size, by clicking and holding shift, those alternate, then dragging with our mouse, left mouse button. This way to be. So bring it through center increases. So the rest is we're going to reduce the capacity. Ag Urvashi B. Ok. We're going to lock it. Reason for reducing the pasta una created our line work will be able to see the line work as well as the image we want to cartoon. And then create a new layer for our language. The next thing is to setup the brush and the pencil to the brush tool is located here. That click it here, or click b on our keyboard. Then will come to the brush definition and creates a new brush. And click on calligraphic brush, Rico. Okay, we're gonna set the size to five. And the fixed pressure, the variation, are gonna say diversion to five. The size and the duration must be the same so that it will move from the thing to the heavy when we are applying pressure and click on OK, the angles are rounded as a 100%. Then we're going to double click on the Brush too. And sadly, fidelity all the way to smooth in leave only Editor selected path. And the dean should always or should be six for these kind of artwork and click on ok. So with that, we're able to create a clean line work. And that is just there. And you see as you apply graduate Dickins and removed it goes up. But if you don't have a graphic pen, you can select any of the cost numbers here. And with your mouse button, you can create on clean line works as well. The nest into setup is denser two. I'm going to click here and select all heat. And on our keyboard. Now I'm going to double click on the pencil to, I said it. The other way to smooth feel new basis shops, close paths when ends within and iterated path. And that within six pixels as well. We will use the best suit to actually to fill in. Species Dan is fill in where we are creating our line, walk like the hair, the eyes in some cases where the eye is mostly black or brown on the eyebrows. So the pleasant to use is just to create a kind of a silly when we are quit line work. And we always make sure we switch off this before leaving at the line. It just greet only lines. Well, well fidget up to fear. God, easy to fill in anything. And that is that. And with this, we are ready to create our line work. 4. Helpful Tips: The tips I'm about to give to you, you find using Adobe Illustrator easy. And more. From. The first tip is, whenever you're looking for something in Adobe Illustrator and can't find it, you can always go to the Windows menu and search for whoever is you're using your you need encasing the cost. I call something that you can find in any of your window workspace to find it here. Another have foot deep dive. Very important is the control zed. Does two go back whenever you are Twitter, Tennessee, non-unique on error, or maybe do like what you will see. Two other these work less See you had written an art or a language. And you want to go back, go in these countries it and does it do in gonna come in very handy as you do accrete to align with your goals, you're going to make errors as I tried to create your art. So in the countryside it makes life way easier. That erasing when you are drained, physical, last, cheap I'm going to give to you is very important for you to know. Because he's going to be very neat and you come in handy when you're creating your line work. Now when you're creating your level is very important. You fill in species that we are going to be applying colors like the I's beliefs. You have to cross over everything. Everything should overlap each other. They use your selection tool to select everything good to objects, Expand Appearance, good to quatrain that. Very case. Eunoia patronize, Like I said, alea, or you need to do good to Windows, looper, Pathfinder, minds, rainy day, Joe showed me, wait, is he OPAT vendor? You are going to click on divide and divide. Those is deeds, separates the Art Walk and makes it all the lines that are overlapped. It cuts them off. So it cannot divide them blue. We just desolation too. You can select those individual places and don't delete body. And here you go. This is going to come in very handy way up quitting your level. And with this, we are ready to go. See you in the next class. 5. Line Work: a: In this class, we'll be using the brush and the parser to recreate our line work. For begin, we need to note that for a good cartoon, we need a good line work. And the secret to good line work is zoom-in close enough to trace the image. For the purpose of this class, we need to know that for our line work should be good for painting. We need to close off all the portions that we'll need to leap, like the eyes, the hair, leaps, and the whole body. So let's start by tracing around the edges of the gnomes beliefs, the eyes, like so. So for the eyelashes, we are going to make use of the pencil to sue creates a feeling for the eyelashes. And then at the edges of the eyelashes we're going to create as zigzag kind of texture. We are going to make use of the same principle for the eyebrows. We're going to trace around the eyebrows and create a zigzag takes job around it as we fill it in. Making use of the same principle, we're going to trace the hair, but we will make sure we don't go too far so that, you know how you undo everything we've done. Each time we want to make a change. For a low shaved the beards like we have in this picture, we are going to make use of our growth due to create tiny dots like hair follicles around those parts that the heads are showing a little bit so that it will have a texture. Or we know Nero bureaus around those places. And with that, we're done with our line work and we're ready to move on to the next stage. Now, all we have to do is go around the image and make sure that we've cleaned it off from all over across lines during our language. By now, you should be done with your lion walk. So export your line walk as a PNG file and upload it to the project gallery. 6. Line Work: b: So to get our line walk ready, we are going to select the whole line work using the selection through. And then we're going to click on object and then select Expand Appearance, Hoover to pathfinder and click on merge. Next is we will go to the layer panel and drag our line work layer through the New Layer icon down so as to duplicate the layer. Then the rock that they are. 7. Coloring: a: In this class, I will be showing us the method I use for choosing and applying a skin tone to an artwork. As you mean, this is the line work done from the previous class. The first thing we did was we used in our selection tool. We select the whole object, books, objects, expand, appearance at. Then, good to pathfinder, recall Merge. So this is an output. So now in selecting the skin to, the first thing to notice, basically the human color is the OSI variation of round for the good, darker or lighter flow when a select Brown, who, let's say one of the swatches here, you choose brown. And then we're going to double click on this. Yep. And then from here we can select our skin to node four. So this is more or less the variation of the different Colloquium. So big on the immature cartooning, you can choose your skin to from here, ranging from the youth with a darker skinned book Docker. And just like that, as a names you may want to do this in a little bit towards the rate of mirror. We shed our red. So then again select, so they say I'm choosing this skin tone, I click on OK. All we do is to apply the skin to select this rectangle. Who over the artwork. Now, you see what happened here. The abacus or rock covered. So let us take there were countries that remember in the previous births, they told us to duplicate this layer. So now that's the purpose of getting there and loved the top layer to now apply the CTO layer. You see now the line work is to show you. So we're going to select this rectangle box and we'll go to our range. We're going to send it back. Now the reason was in it, well, so that it behind the line walk on this particular layer we're walking through. And how you will notice when you see the line work showing this portion no less than the conscious it, you see that the level before we applied the same. He was not sure, you know, it's it's showing. So that is the thing we're going to select. Everything we're going to do to find our booty call, merge. Go inwards a value. We are going to come to this washer and using the selection tool, click rights, right-click and go to ICLEI Sue lead selected two. So what is done is isolate all these, know we merge the two. It has a different recipe. Cocoa did on the line work through, we're going to click on partial. We'll delete. So what happens now is that our language is now inside of our artwork. So the French didn't want to do is to select the separate colors. Now they don't pick up these background so that we are back to our rock. So we use our direct relation. We can now select the individual portions that are fluke of greenie language. Now, for the eyes, Usually we select the eyes of the eyes using Rodin downshift and selecting the, I can go to this portion, a changing Whites. Then for the eyes. We've said let dark that the person reads on the color of the eye. So sometimes the outdoor use. Iso. Again. B is your bid on the eye color is green, wherever the color of the eyes that selected from this Obama to stop spine of movie Migdal to ground. Again, then for the lives. The same methodology, column pickup. And since it needs more or less on an algorithm of our bodies deep, we built it with what the rate and get pixelation from near on, from normal instances, we lowly is of lighter Soviet talk the panel. So in this, who choose remitted to be lighter than the most ISIL somehow what he called the, oops. So somewhere here. So there is our Cellectis teaching. Then. Well, if this is not within evangelists comma right here and keep free clinics here would get variation. You are looking for. Albedo, reignite that joy for Uganda slope, making any seed of color you want. Then for the eye, you have weakened the workflow, the records, make it. So that just reads. So this is basically how we select and apply AS Kintun undercover on unnatural OK. 8. Coloring: b: So in this class, we are going to apply exactly worked. We'll learn from the previous video to our projects artwork. So basically, I'm going to be repeating the same steps in this renew. So go ahead and apply the same tune your project artwork. Okay. A spot your work as a PNG document and upload it to the project gallery. 9. Shading: Once in a mixin artwork, Great is shaded because shading gives an adsorb sense of dimension and perspective. So in this class, we are going to learn how to apply shadings to our artwork. First thing we're gonna do is we're going to create a new layer right above our coloured artwork. And we are going to walk that layer. Now with our eyedropper to, we are going to select the original skin tone. So the idea is I want to apply a darker skin tone right above the skin tone we already have. So we're going to select a darker shade of the skin. And then we're going to apply the scheme to write a boulder. So we are going to toggle visibility of so that we can see the portions of the image that has the darker shades. So just let, as I'm showing all this quotient, our darker, so these are the portions of the body that we are going to shade over. So we pursue two, we are going to go into the image and begin to shade. Slowly. Bus Daddy, we're going to shade around the skin. Portions are dark. Like so. So when we do this, this is i is going to look like. So we are going to go right back into the image. And we're going to trace of all those portions we feel are having the Dhaka tone so that our artwork can have more perspective and damnation. And with that, we're done with our shading. And as you can see, our image as the bit of dimension which makes it much, much better. You feel. 10. Exporting: In this class, we are going to be finalizing everything concerning our artwork. And we all know that presentation matters a lot. So, so I'm going to be adding a background to my Art Walk. And then I'm going to put a border line around it to make it look a little bit more presentable. But you're free to explore or the options you can add an image or however you feel your artwork is gonna look great. Account with to see what you come up with. 11. Final Thoughts: We have come to the end of the course. If you have not uploaded your assignment to the project galleries, do that Now to get feedback on your work, to get better at creating these kind of artwork. Or you have to do is keep practicing. The more you create the beta you get, r will be dropping a more advanced approach. So feel free to follow me and get notified when I post new videos. See you later.
