About This Class

If your voice feels weak, breathy or like it disappears when you try to sing with more power; this class is going to change how you approach your voice completely!

I’m Louie, a professional vocal coach and in this class we’re focusing on building real vocal strength, not the kind that comes from pushing or forcing but the kind that feels controlled, grounded and repeatable.

We’ll break down why most singers struggle with power in the first place and then work through simple, practical exercises to help you:

  • Find your natural vocal weight
  • Build strength without shouting or straining
  • Control your airflow so your voice feels stable
  • Sing with more confidence and consistency

There’s no complicated theory in this class and no expectation that you already sound “good.” This is about understanding your voice, working with it properly and starting to hear real change.

By the end of the class, you’ll have a clearer, stronger sound and a simple way to keep building your voice going forward.

Hi, I'm Louie Voxx, a full time professional vocal coach based in Scotland. My goal is simple, to show people that if they can talk, they can sing. A University of London graduate, I've worked with some of the UK's best up and coming artists alongside countless musical theatre performers and as a former performer myself, I understand exactly how frustrating it can be when you don't know how to get the most out of your voice.

My programmes are designed to take the stress off singing and give you the tools you need to take your voice wherever you please! So if singing is something you've always wanted to learn to do or take to the next level; Then why don't you give my courses a try!

1. Unlock Your Voice! : Ever felt like your voice sounds weak, breathy, or disappears entirely when you try to sing louder, then you might be forgiven to think that you're the only one, but you're far from it. Most amateur singers think power comes from pushing, forcing or taking massive breaths, but that usually does the complete opposite. It creates tension, strain, and a voice that tires out fast, and I, for one, have been there many times. So there's no shame in that. However, in this class, we're building real vocal strength, the kind that feels grounded, controlled, and repeatable because over here, we learn how to sing for life. In this class, we'll focus on finding natural vocal weight, building strength without shouting or forcing, controlling airflow, singing with more confidence and stability. And by the end, you will record a before and after clip so you can actually hear your progress. And then if you're brave enough, you're going to leave it in the project section below. Let's get into it. 2. Why You Sound Weak.. : When singers feel weak, they usually try one of these three things. They over breathe, they push from the throat, or they dump too much air too quickly, but none of these create power. They create instability. Let me give you a quick insight on what onsets are, which is important for you to understand before we fix some of these issues. The first is aspirate, and this is where the vocal folds are closed fully and create a breathy falsit or tone letting air through. The other is glotto and this is where they have full cord closure. It's also what we sound like when we're talking. Real power comes from balance, breath and resistance, all working together. Think of it like letting air out of a balloon slowly. So if I blow up balloon and I just let it open a little bit compared to all at once. One creates control, the other loses pressure instantly. When 3. Finding Your Vocal Weight! : We're going to find your natural vocal weight through speaking first. Say this in a normal, typical manner. Just make sure it's clear and solid. Hey, come here a second. Now, say it with intention, but slightly louder, not shouting. Hey, come here a second, as if you're telling someone off. That tone right there, that's usable singing way, and you can feel the difference immediately. The body naturally uses the correct amount of support when we say and sing something with intention. So, open the chest. Nice and relaxed. Sing the phrase on one note. Don't lighten it, don't force it. Just let the speaking weight that you've just discovered carry it over. Hey, come here, a second. Hey, come here, a second. This is where most singers accidentally go airy or polite, because they hold back or they begin to feel silly and heads up. You're definitely gonna feel silly, especially if you're not used to this. This is why we're keeping grounded energy instead. Give this a try. And if you'd like, once you feel comfortable, start applying this technique to other songs that you enjoy singing. So before speak phrase. Hey, come here a second. Hey, come here a second. Then you can start to apply it to the piano. So for ladies? Hey, come here. A second. But Betiet. Hey, come here, a second. For the men. He Hey, come, do gently. Hey, come here. A second Now be direct. Hey, come here a second. You start to notice with that direct intention that the support begins to come in, alongside that. You just want to say on the hey. Get in for the ladies? Hey. Hey hey It's a little bit too high for me, but you'll be fine yourself and for the men. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. Remember, separate each hay and be direct. Hey, hey, if you feel the stomach tucking, then you know you're doing it right. We're going to 4. Building Your Strength! : So short bursts build strength. Strength comes from coordination, not force. Th should be a mantra of this page by this stage. We train it in small steps. Hey, short, clean, supported. Now try this. Again, handling the belly. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Chest open, too. Keeping the shoulders down, nice and relax. We don't want to let them rise. All this in place? Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Now, from here, you want to just extend it. Yeah, yeah. And hopefully, you're beginning to notice the line between singing and talking is rather small. We use the same muscles for both. Talking is synonymous with singing. 5. Control vs Volume! : Now, here's the big myth. Loud does not equal powerful. When you think of powerful, you probably think of, like, Freddie Mercury and how he must have worked so hard to get the notes out while he was singing and he's moving, he's doing all these great things. Well, that's not entirely the case. By the way, not taking anything away from the king. He was exceptional, but just for a lot of other reasons that people don't really give him credit for. You can be loud and completely unsupported. And I get a lot of stick for that online. But here we are. You can also be medium volume and incredibly strong, too. We're aiming for contained energy, not leaking air, not squeezing either, a focused, coordinated sound. So here, we're going to sustain the ya sound at a medium volume for roughly around 10 seconds. G me a steady, even tone and make sure that the focus is on the space at the back of the throat. And we're slightly tucking in the belly ever so slightly. We don't need to do this a lot, however. Again, with intention. Yeah, yeah. You're telling me off. Yeah. Ya. Yeah. Keeping this pace at the back of the throat. And as we're going higher. We're going wider. We're not working harder. We're going wider. Ya Ya. Keep the yeah, at the beginning. Yeah Ya. You can do this in your entire range. Remember, keeping it open and not using an awful lot of support. Just a bit of both. Nice, balanced, focused, coordinated, strong, clean tone. Now, 6. Confidence Through Consistency! : Confidence doesn't come from hype. It comes from repeatability and confidence and consistency. If you can produce the same strong sound three times in a row, your brain starts trusting your voice because a lot of vocal coaches don't tell you this. Your head and body are almost like two entities. The mind and body that. That's why you know what you want to sound like and sometimes even know what to do to be able to get there, but ultimately don't hit. Target. So sing a simple phrase repeatedly, just like before when we sang, I've got something to say, I've got something to say Keep the breath grounded. Natural weight and controlled airflow. Remember, consistency builds belief and belief builds confidence. Sit with that phrase. And remember, space and intention. Big yawn and intentional. I've got something to say Say feeling that support come in. When you don't overthink it and you think simply about intention, the body does what it knows how to do naturally. Confident 7. You've Got This! : Strong singing is not about forcing your voice. It's actually all about understanding how it works and training it patiently. We're not in a sprint. We are in a marathon, and this should be treated as any other muscle would. Keep working on these exercises. Keep noticing what feels balanced, and our strength will build naturally over time. This is just one single step, however, in developing a voice that feels powerful and completely your own, but it's a major step and one that shouldn't be overlooked. Good luck, and I'll see you in the next one. Strong
