1. Introduction: Hi, in this short class I will teach you how to do SEO and how to optimize your listings in a very simple and practical manner. I've been selling on Etsy for over three years now, and I'm a six-figure seller by now. And I've been doing SEO in the same way ever since. You don't have to overthink SEO. Seo is simple at its roots, but people tend to overthink this too much when they have to focus on other factors as well. So if you want to learn how SEO works, be sure to check out this short class as it covers pretty much everything that you need to know in order to optimize your listing is properly. See you in the class. 2. Etsy SEO Basics and How it Works: Hi and welcome to the course. I'll try to make things as simple as possible and as short as possible for this guide, because SEO is not that complicated for Etsy. So let's start with the basics. Seo comes from search engine optimization, and this means that there are some factors that will help us out in order to rank our products higher on Etsy. Now, we have two types of keywords. We have short tail keywords that are made up of one word. So e.g. shirt is a short tail keyword, shoes is a short tail keyword. So quite simple. Long-tail keywords are made up of multiple words. So e.g. Father's Day shirt is a long-tail keyword. And which one is better? Well, obviously the long tail keywords is better because it is more precise. Now, when it comes to ranking a product, C determines a quality score. And this quality score is based on multiple factors, such as your click-through rate, which means how often someone clicks on your product when they say it. Then we have traffic, which is very important. Then we have orders and favorites. So these are pretty much the most important factors, but the main ones are traffic and orders. Obviously. In the next guide or in the next video actually, I will show you how to write titles, tags, and the description properly. So you're going to achieve the best results. 3. Title, Description & Tags - Guidelines: Now it's time to focus on a title, description and tags. And I will mainly talk about the rules and how you should type those. So when it comes to the title, the first 20 to 40 characters that you are going to type in here are the most important. So e.g. let's say that I'm selling Father's Day shirt, like I said before. So my first keywords that I'm going to type in here, our Father's Day shirt. Then I will type of separator and type some other keywords or a comma and some other keywords. You have to use all the characters that you have in here. So I have like 120 left. I should type as many keywords as possible. But remember that the first keywords that you are typing are the most important and those will determine your ranking the most for that keyword. So if you have a Father's Day shirt, you can either type the quote that is written on that shirt or what that chart represents if it is popular, e.g. or we can just dive Father's Day shirt and then you can type the quote or whatever it is on the t-shirt. So the first key words are the most important. Remember that? And you have to use all the space in here, so as many keywords as possible, but make sure they are relevant to your actual listing. I will use a tool afterwards called the rank, and I will take all the keywords and I will show how to do this properly afterwards. But now I'm taking, I am talking only about the rules. So first keyword, the most important and fill all the spaces. Now, here you can pick the category that is easy to do. Here you will type the description. You can type whatever you want, just add the materials and whatever you use and so on. We can even type in FAQ in here if you want to make it simple for the customer. But the important thing is at the end of your description, you must copy all the keywords that you're using the title and type them at the end. E.g. I just have like this, I write extra tags. I just copy all the title and paste it in here. So this creates keyword density. So the more times you are keywords are repeated throughout your description, title, and tags, the higher your rank if you do this. So these are some simple rules for SEO. You should do this as well. And when it comes to the tags and the tags, you should write exactly the same keywords that you have in the title. But usually in the tags you have some extra space. Sometimes you can add a few more if you want, but always input the tags that are written in the title. You don't have to type them in order or something just to mention them in the text. So this is pretty much how you do SEO and these are the rules. In the tax. You include the same keywords from the title, but you can add some extra ones. If you have some space in a description, copy the title and paste it at the end of your description. And when it comes to that, when it comes to the title, the first keywords that you are writing, the first 20 to 40 characters are the most important ones. So make sure that you either use the niche like Father's Day shorting here, e.g. and then the code from your specific product or whatever you're selling, and then write the other keywords. So in the next video, I will show you how to do this properly. We have a tool called the rank. It is completely free and this will make everything easier. 4. SEO Demonstration with ERank: Alright, so now it's time to do the actual SEO. So I will make a demonstration for you and you'll see how easy it actually is. And you don't have to overthink this at all. So you'll go on iran.com, you rank is one of the most popular tools for doing SEO for Etsy. And there is another one called marmalade. You can use whichever you want. I used Iran from day one and I got used to it. I don't have a paid membership or anything, so you can just use a few variant like I'm doing right now. But you have a limit of 50 searches per day, but that is enough. I don't think you'll be adding more than 50 products per day, which is a lot anyway. So you'll just go into the tools, keyword tool. And in here you will input your keyword. So let's say that I am selling a breast cancer shirt. I will just inputting here breast cancer shirt. Click on Search. And we will have some metrics right now. E.g. if you want to do some nice research and you want to find the potential of these specific keywords. You can do this, just enter the keywords in here and you will find the traffic for it. Clicks, click-through rate, and the competition. So as you can see in here, this is a good idea because the competition is not super high. It is average, and there are plenty of searches. So ideal scenario, high searches, low competition. But if you have a lot of searches and a lot of competition, that's still okay. You can still make sales if your product is good. Now, something else, don't try to focus on selling something that has no traffic. Because it is obvious that if that, if there's no demand for a specific product, no one's going to buy it. So just focus on keywords that have a lot of search volume. Alright? And he in here, as you can see, we have some more metrics, average price favorites and so on. In here we have the most popular texts. So you already have an idea what the most popular keywords are for this specific niche. But what I'm actually doing is I just scroll all the way to the bottom. And here as you can see, we have the stats for each specific keyword, but you will have to pay for it. We wouldn't bother with this. We don't need this, so I'll just go all the way to the bottom. And in here we have top listings. What I'm doing is I will just sort them by daily views in here. This way, I will see the best-performing ones out of these 100 listings that are being displayed in here. So the most traffic usually means the most sales. So I can just pick one competitor. Let's say that I'm picking this one. I will just do this in a split screen. So it will be easier for me to type. And I can just take the keywords from this competitor and make some changes to them in order to not have it identical, but it doesn't matter much. Instead of being breast cancer shirt, I will just delete the pink. I don't need it. And the women keyword doesn't make any sense because this is obviously for women. And let's say that I have a different quote in here. Instead of this one. Let's say I have, in this family, nobody fights alone shirt because this quote is quite popular for this niche. And I can just leave the other keywords the way they are. You can type some more if you want, but it is, this is usually enough. So we have the niche as the first keywords, which is good. Then we have the actual quote that is on the shirt, e.g. and what I'm doing here, I will just copy this right now. So I will copy the title, go into description. I will just remove the holiday in here. You will have to select the category for your product. I selected t-shirt's already in the description. You'll type your usual description. And at the end of your description, right? Something like this, extra tags and just The title. This will help you with the SEO, as I said, because this will help with your keyword density. The more times you repeat the keywords, the better it is for your SEO. When it comes to the tags, I can just get the tags from here. Usually the tags have to be the same. So you can either inputs the keywords that are in your title and then add some more from your competitor. Or you can just add one of these keywords from here. It doesn't matter much because they are all in the same niche, but I will just type the first ones as they are the most important. So let's say breast, breast cancer shirt. In this family, nobody fights alone. I can type the entire sentence because there is a character limit. So we'll just type it like this split. It works as well. We have pink ribbon, shirt. Breast cancer survivor. This is too much. This should be good. Now we have breast cancer gift. I can type cancer survivor, and I can take some more from here. Now, we have breast cancer gifts, Whereas cancer, t-shirt, breasts, cancer survivor gift, breast cancer fight cancer survivor or cancer warrior I can type these are popular as well. I already know them. October rest shirt. And let's see what else. Whereas cancer fight already added that cancer t-shirts. And that's pretty much it. That's how easy it actually is. Just big keywords from your competitors. Just go in here, find what you're selling. Look at the competitors. See what keywords they used. If these keywords performed well for them, they will perform well for you as well. But this doesn't mean that you rank your product on the first page, which is obvious. You just added your product. You need traffic in order to rank your product. So in order to get traffic, you will have to run ads as our mandatory. When you start. You can make cells without ads as well, but that will be way harder for you. So it is best to start running ads. And once you start running ads over time, your product will go higher in the search results. Seeing the next video. 5. Get Traffic with Etsy Ads, Tips & Conclusion: Now I will give you an actual strategy for it yet in order to rank your product higher. So here I have a demo store, so I don't have anything on it. As you can see, once you click on marketing, you'll click on NCIS and you'll go directly in here. So the strategy is as follows. You will set a daily budget of $10 per day and you will add whatever products you want in here to advertise. Once you spend $10 on a specific product, you will look at the stats. If the stats tell you that you have no sales after you spend $10, you disable that ad. If you made sales but you are not profitable, you will let that ad run until you get 100 clicks on that specific product. Why is that? Because this way you will rank this product higher in the search results and it will be higher organically. So you should make sales if that product has potential and if the ad is profitable, just add lead, lead us specific ad run and you will go on etsy.com again, you will search for your product in the search box in here. Let's say I'm searching for a lung cancer shirt. And you will look for your specific product. And you will want to see exactly where it is placed right now afterwards, 100 clicks, it will rank higher for sure. It will be probably on the second page. So you'll have to go in there. But if that specific niche that you're selling is not that competitive, it should be on the first page after 100 clicks, but usually it will be on the second page. And if it is profitable, as I mentioned yesterday, that ad run and you will see that your specific product will rank higher and higher until it will get in here. This is the first row of organic results. The first row is usually ads. Then you have two rows that are not ads, and then you have ads again and so on. This is how it works. So basically the most important factor is traffic. Traffic. Obviously, then you have sales. By traffic is the most important. If you manage to get a lot of clicks on your specific product, your product will rank higher over time. So if you just started, you really need ads. Usually most of the store new dads when they start. So you should run ads in order to get sales. But be realistic if your product, e.g. doesn't have demand and you're trying to advertise it and you're getting no clicks and you still want to push it. Stopped doing that. If you spend $10 and you're getting no sales at all, just stop focusing on that product and try to sell something else. But e.g. if you have a more expensive product that costs like $100, e.g. you will most likely have to spend more than $10 on that specific product in order to see if it's profitable or not. So if it is an expensive, you should probably spend like $40 or $40 because it is way more expensive and the profit margin is higher. So this pretty much what I do and this is my strategy. It is pretty easy to apply. Do not try to overthink SEO. It is that simple. The keywords are the most important ones. Keyword density is important. Tags mentioned in the description in the title and the text section as well. As long as you do this and you use Iran to find the best keywords from your competitors, you should have good results, but make sure that there is demand for your product and that your product has potential. And the way you find this out is by running Etsy ads. And if you get sales for your specific product. So this pretty much it. That's how is your works. And I wish you the best of luck.
