1. Introduction to Typing!: Hi. My name is Brennan Zimmer, and I want to welcome you to my typing class for beginners. This class has been specifically designed for you. In order to really help you get a much better understanding of where do you even get started when it comes to typing? Maybe you've just started typing and you don't really know where to start. Or maybe you've been typing for a little bit and you just feel like you really improve. This course is gonna be here to help you. Really? From the very beginner basics all the way to help giving you some tips to and how he can, over time, increase your typing speed. It's incredibly important to learn typing, and it's a skill that can help you really throw the rest of your life. This is something that you really don't want to pass on. It's gonna really help you for the future. If you're excited, just like means to get started with this course. I definitely invite you to enroll in it, and I will then see you inside 2. Why Learn Typing?: now you might be thinking right now. What are the advantages of learning how the type why should you learn how to type? What I can tell you right now is that there are a ton of different advantages to really being able to learn how to type properly, being will the type faster. I'll just run through some of the things that I can't think of a time my hand that I truly believe that's gonna be able to really tell you really, really how important it is. And you probably even have some of these on the back of your mind as well. The 1st 1 I think of this just the amount of time that you can save now if you're just kind of like poking around, went out a couple of fingers. What happened Key were which I know a decent amount of people do. If they've never been really taught how with the type, you know, that takes a lot of time in order to say maybe get a certain email out to a friend or maybe a message out. You know, there's a ways that it could be a lot quicker and really being able to type efficiently and fast is really what I'm gonna show you in this course and be able to do that doesn't help save you a lot of time in the process. So maybe instead of having to read a message that may but take you maybe an hour to write, maybe you could split that in half. I mean, it really depends person the person. Some might be able to do it fast when that some might be a little bit slower than that, then that has 1/2 an hour for an example. But what I can tell you is over time is long to keep practicing. What I teach throughout this course, you will see improvements. And really, that's what iPhone to just the kind of tell you When I first got started, I was probably well, I was doing the poking thing to having absolutely no, really no idea what I'm doing kind of a thing. And my words per minute was easily under 20. And if you don't know what that is, don't worry. I'll be explained that to you also in this course. But now what I can say is that I can type up to in the even over 70 words per minute on certain different tests and stuff that I have taken. Which does this tell you? You know, obviously, that's almost, you know, triple what I've been able to do in the path of the first got started, which what does that mean exactly? That means a huge amount of time is saved in the process. And another thing I just want to quickly share with you to within this specific lesson, this video is that not only does it save the time, but it can potentially even help potentially even, maybe make help. You make more income during, say, depending on you know what job you have. For example, if you're saying maybe a business owner or you do it by like your business is my clients and you need the deep doing certain amount of typing. Or maybe you're a writer for an example. You know, the quicker you get that stuff out, the more clients that you can have in the more income that he could potentially make. Now again, this totally various person, the person, but regardless, it's still incredibly valuable, at the very least, to save yourself more time that that way you can really type faster. And then because of that, then safe time give any questions at all. Definitely police will feel, let me know. But I am really excited to get this course started and really show you what you need to know when you're really first getting started typing. And that way he can also become a great type. Er, thank you so much for watching this video, and I'll see you in the next one. 3. Quick Course Overview: in this video out to be sharing with you. What exactly is involved in what's in this court? So I'm really sure that you're curious about what's in it, And I want to share with you exactly what's in it within this video. So the first thing that we're gonna be going over really within this course is we're gonna be going over than the keyboard itself. Really? Just an overview of it. That way you have understanding of you know what exactly is on it all those different factors at play that we have a better understanding just going into this course that way to me eat more, much more easier for you to have to get a grasp of. Then the next lesson that follow that which, in speaking of the fouling lessons of that is actually been showing exactly what exactly does your fingers go on the keyboard? Which fingers are used, uncertain keys and which ones aren't? Because you don't use a certain finger for all the keys. You use them for certain certain keys, which always showing you within this course in addition to that as well Well, be showing you to Is that I will then be showing you also not only just the meaning key, such as like the letters themselves, but also the surrounding ones all on the keyboard itself that we have really the bus understanding possible. Then I even go into then talking about keyboard shortcuts. So this is another way and how you can save time while you're working, say, on your computer and using your keyboard. So these shortcuts, I go over well in some of the most popular ones that you can use just about anywhere. And that's where that's really what I want to be shown you as well during that section that they really help you again. Safe time. Then afterwards, it will we then get into then more or less the proper happens to get into meeting things that you really want to make sure you get in the habit off doing, for example, you want to make sure make sure that your be putting really your fingers in the right positioning and what not. You just want to make sure you catch yourself. If you do find yourself to be out of position and I go into that in much more greater detail of course, within that section. Then afterwards we go on to them, even test your skills to So even no matter where you added it, no matter what skill level, I think it's really important to still track wherever you're at at the moment. Meaning you know that we can really see your improvements over time. That's really where this is important. Not that Percy judge, you are anything about sort. It's just for you to see. Hey, this is where I'm at. And then here's where I want to be or even see your improvement over time as well, which is really being able to then test your skills is far too even. Give you tools that you can use the then practice typing as well so you can get better and better at it over time. Then within the next section, Section seven, I then go over helping you increase your typing speed. Now, this is something that does not happen overnight. However, if you just implement the things that I teach during the section, it will help you increase your speed or time. And then after that, I then just really be able to this quickly. Then really recap and whatnot, the whole course. But really, by then you should have a great understanding of really how to properly type. And really, you should start to see improvements afterwards as well. Once you've been doing some practice tests and whatnot tests, they're not great unnecessarily. But they do show a legal results. And with that year just able to continue to get better and better over time. If you have any questions again at any time for this whole course, police will feel, let me know more than happy to answer any questions. Thank you so much again for watching this video and I'll seal in the next one. 4. Section 1 - Quick Overview: in section one. I won't be going over with you with the keyboard and really explaining Teoh really everything that you need to know on the keyboard itself. Whether this is your really your first time just typing, maybe just trying to get the hang of things, I would be showing you really everything that you need to know that you're gonna probably be using most often a keyboard and really throw this whole court. I mean, I'm really be able to go over that with you on top of that as well. Within this certain section here, I'm also be going over with you some of things that you may not even know before it actually here, on and keep or somebody sharing Really all those things with you two again. How do you get a much better understanding of the keyboard? And once you do that will ultimately help you As far as getting better hold off being able to type and not only bath, but long term being able to type faster. Thank you so much for watching this little video here. And I definitely for the talking teal in the next lesson 5. Keyboard Typing Overview: in this lesson. I'm gonna go over with you the overview of the keyboard and explain to really where everything is at. So I will say that depending on, like if you're on a desktop or if you're on a laptop like this one is your keyboard set up could be ever so slightly different. However, all the same keys will be there and from and definitely for these keys right here. Those will be the same. So with that said I wanted them to just go over with you. I'm gonna just take this as if you've they never seen a keeper before. Okay, I just want to make sure that you know where everything is at, and then I can show you everything. So first, I will then go over here and just show you than all the letter keys here. So these are I don't think that that, at least in my knowledge, they're not in any adversity particular order of wider, just like this. I mean, there may be is the reason behind it. Honestly, I don't know. However, that's just the way it is currently set up. And over time, you'll get used to just memorizing honestly, just where these are. If you're just starting out with a keyboard this night, sound well, overwhelming. I'm like, Oh, my gosh, How am I supposed to memorize like all these different keys? Don't worry, you will get the hang of it. And also, what's in verily, really important when it comes to the keep or two is that there's then a space bar as well . Which is right here is a black with little heart disease. Apologize about that. But there is a space for right here. And then that obviously, how do you get them spaces than when you're, say typing And what that next is a lot of other buttons here that I want to show you. So right here this is known as the home button, and this is for more newer computers, and this is more less for laptop, I believe after that could be I take that back. It also coming in desktops, too, and space with the home button. I think this is kind of the first design when Windows eight came out, and just in case, if you don't know what that is, it's basically just a newer software came out for an operating system. So don't worry. Nothing overcomplicate this this but basically will bring up with the menu like a menu button for you. I'm a skip these three of right now volt and then fn and then the control. Skip these keys just for now. Next. He here is the shift key. So if you need that capitalize a certain letter we would hold this button down. Well, then clicking another key. And then that will give youth than the capitalized letter off that for these. When it comes to these letters here, next is the caps lock caps lock is then what that is is basically capitalizes all the different letters or what not. So if you're typing and say, for example, that you need to have every letter capitalized, it'd be smart to probably part of the caps lock here and you can see that by their election . More than likely be a light in somewhere is not all the time. Is it right here? Sometimes, depending on your computer, Sometimes the light can be shone on even some parts on top Here, it really does depend. Although a lot of them do have like a light here. The little indicate that it's on. At the very least. See if you don't have a light. How you contest of its on is you start typing and all the things all the letters are capitalized. Then you. Then you know that he have caps lock on to get it off. It's real simple. I have to do is then click it once. Next is then the Taboo bun. Stab one has then able, totally help you multiple different ways. But the most common way that it can help you is when it comes to say we're documents where need to shift some like, say certain words over what not this really Talbot and can come in handy. You can also use had to say when you're feeling on the form online. Many times you can press the tab un, and it'll then take you to the next piece where you can fill out instead of you having to use your mouth or touch pad, which is right here for me in the laptop. In order to having used this, you can actually use the tab, but the tab key in many cases next, I will then go to the is right here. What? You can see our than the number keys than the number keys then. Well, really, What was able to help you? As far as like that women were comes to the numbers and what not you can then use them. So say you're typing, which I'll be getting into this shortly into the course here. But see, when you're typing a want that, it's gonna be really easy for you to access with your fingers. So that's kind of why they're here. In addition to that as well, You'll notice. Actually, that these actually have. You can see the little icons. I know it's probably hard for you to see, but these little icons here and what not to these are all different meanings to so mean. For example, above the four is a dollar marks time. So basically that symbol, if you then hold down shift for an example pulled this down and then press than the four that will actually give you the dollar sign several. So any of these on top here if you want to get those whether that then you see, that is whether that be, say, whether that be a question mark or after questions down here? I mean, like like at symbol or like, hashtag simple. Any of that. Anything you want up here, then that is then where you get that over here is the escape one. So if you wanted to get out of seeing a certain program or sometimes certain windows that will help you want even press that next then is just on top here, I'll be going over. This is well, which is really the F one through the F 12 keys. And I will say that it can very like, really computer the computer because not all the same, they're not always the same. However, I will just kind of tell you what often they do all include that includes, like being able to them lower your volume here also then look like, well, giving your volume higher in this one in and listen lower. However, I should mention this is then using. Then I believe the control the control bun and then pressing this one I want actually to get back. It's gonna be the I believe it's the function. Yep, that's the function. Do you press the function hold this down and then press this in order to get the volume to change. Now, I will say that actually, that is like this, Like the side part off the key itself. Your digest, Say press half 11 for an example for my computer that actually brings it up as a full screen. So what that means is basically the tabs that you might see on top of your screen that actually would disappear. And I'll just give you the front screen you're in. In addition to that as well, there's a lot of other options here, but I don't want to overwhelm you because I know if you're just starting out, this might be slightly overwhelming. So I'm gonna try to definitely take you through all these, Really? But in the course here, But again, just trying to give you a quick overview just to kind of go over here now, some of most important ones being the backspace button. So if you want to delete anything or tax write night, he can use that in addition to deleting. I mean, oh, yeah, getting rid of stuff, I kind of gave it away. But is the delete button right here. And then you're able to then, of course, delete items in front, which I'll be going into more detail to again with this course you have, then the enter button here, which is able to give you then basically new space you need to see when you're typing. There's another shift key, so basically, these aren't really any different besides in different locations, so you have to shift keys. This is important to know. Also have arrow keys. Chances are you probably won't be using is all too much. You can use this actually, instead of wanting, strolled out on the page so you can use Thies too many times. However, generally I still like using my touch pad or if you just happier mouse. That's probably still gonna be a better way to use it. But you can still use these here. Also, These are kind of here simply because, probably like for games and things of that sort, but more or less. That's kind of what that Therefore, in addition, if you notice too, we have actually a whole diversity of numbers to which that is when you really you're really focused on just doing the numbers itself instead of just occasionally doing numbers on top here. Say, if you're doing like an Excel report or whatnot where you really need to be taking a lot of numbers will then Thistle's kind of lights here for you. It's just all in one compact place compared to really spread out on top here, in addition to that, to you have these other things on the side and whatnot and thes. Honestly, I think for the most part, you won't have to worry about I very, very rarely used them. And I will be beginning to them really in more detail Relief group the course. But I think that kind of gives you a good overview of exactly you know, what are the most common things that you will be using when it comes to having your own keyboard give any questions at all, please feel free to let me know I will be more than happy to help Thanks so much again for watching this video, and I'll see you in the next one 6. Section 2 - Quick Overview: in section two. I would be going over with you than how to properly type on your keyboard. So going over really literally every finger. And where's it supposed to be? When it comes to then? All the different keys on the keyboard? I don't can be really overwhelming at first like, Oh, my gosh, you know what? I dio you know, kind of a thing. And, you know, maybe just you're using two fingers, maybe just one finger. Obviously, we don't want to do that, because that's not gonna help you type fast. You're gonna want to use all your fingers, and I'll show you how you could do that. So if you're ready, let's get started. And I'm really excited to get started and showing you the Hubble to properly type 7. The Home Keys: Hi. In this video, I'll be going off with you. The home keys on your keyboard. And what exactly are those? And how to position your hands for the home keys. So first would you want to do? Is we Then take your keeper whether this be on a laptop like this or be on a desktop, which then that one looks slightly different. But at the same time, they all are going to do the same thing. So what you want to Dio is first? Then find the home keys which all been show you what the home keys are. Your home keys are going to be the a key the asking the day he and then also the F key here and they get positioned like this. So you take your pinkie here, put that on the a key Then you put than your next finger on than the s key. Then you're middle theater that on the d he than your pointer finger than on af key. And then we'll end up getting his line of looking something like this and you'll know that you're on the right. He because on the f key that there is actually then like this, Like almost like this in not indentation, but this like thing that you couldn't feel on the top of it. So kind of the opposite indentation that you can kind of feel this bump. That's how you'll know that you're pointing fingers on the right key here and also, you know, because it's on the f key to so it looks something like this. And then you can just rest your thumb. But on the space key here next, then what you want to do is than the next. The next keys here for the home keys is going to be then Jay. Okay, l and then the colon as well. So it will look something like this. So you could your fingers here and your point a finger goes on the Jakey, your next finger then goes on the K key in the AL and then your pointer finger on the corn . So then right there is, Then this will then look something similar very similar to this, where all my then all my fingers are on each of these keys here. And those are what's considered than your home keys. And this is gonna be your resting position pretty much at all times. This is the best place to be meaning wise, called the Home Keys, is that you're able to fast access all the different keys from this position. So that way it's easy to get and move around to all the different keys around. Deal here now, if you're then, of course, just starting out. This might seem slightly overwhelming, but don't worry. It's gonna get, ah, lot easier over time especially. But then I'll be showing you to like, you know, what fingers do you use for shorting keys and whatnot. So don't worry. I'll be getting into that really soon. But this is just what's considered than your home keys, and you'll just, you know, want to practice maybe a couple times just getting your fingers all on the rake he's again and then resting them down like so and just get used to this position. And again, you can kind of feel these bombs right here on F key and then the J key. And that kind of reminds you to this is then where you want to, then rest your fingers and why they put those bumps there to is because when you're not looking at your keyboard over time you're looking at it. You'll just be able to feel that you're in the right position and then just start typing, so hoping it all makes sense. And if you have any questions at all, please feel free to let me know. Otherwise, I look for the showing you just more details on the keyboard itself and how to use it. 8. The F, R, 4, 5, T, G, B, and V Keys: in this lesson. I want to be teaching you about the f R 45 t g b and the he's. Now I know that might sound like a little crazy like Oh my gosh, Like, that's a lot of stuff. Don't worry. It's actually really easy. So let me show you all of these. So this comes down. You want to go again? Want to go back to your home keys again? And once you do, what I want to do then is you can remove your right hand for now, just for the example. And what I'm gonna be focusing on here is your pointer finger on your left hand here. And really what I want you to know is that when it comes to this finger right here, this finger is really responsible for the F key, the R key, the four key, the five, but t the G be and then the V. So, Aziz, you can see here I'm able to reach around all these different keys here, and I'm people too. Then have be able to reach to these. That's really what? These keys Air Force using your once again your point, Your finger on your left hand is gonna then be able to them touch all these. So just get used to this. Maybe practice a couple of times just going around just so you get the feel of it. So you know exactly you know, what does that feel like? And what you can do to is you can now bring your right hand back. Bring that in the right position on the home keys here and then just kind of practice with your point. Your finger here getting on all the different keys so that we're really used to it. So that is it in the first lesson here. So I just want you to practice that. And that is how all of those keys get ahead. Here is once. Then you have, you know, the proper position here. Then that's really how all these keys are. Eventually pushes with again your point. Your finger on your left hand. You have any questions at all? Please will feel Let me know otherwise. I look forward to talking to you in the next lesson. 9. The 3, E, D, and C Keys: in this lesson. We're gonna be going over the three e d and C keys. So this is gonna then be with your left hand here. So just making sure you're on than the home he's here, which I currently am. And then we'll your I wanna practice is then really using. Then your middle finger is then getting used to then hitting all these keys, which the three I ve the d and then the sea. So here again, the three e d and the C Would you realize a lot of these air just down like this in a row? And that's really with your aim is to do so You want to just keep practicing that with your finger and whatnot and just make sure that you just keep practicing that, and then once you do do that, then it's always good to keep practicing as well, the other one to just to make sure that you're really getting the hang of it. So just keep doing this right now, and once you feel comfortable, then you can then move on to the next video. If you have any questions at all, please will feel let me know otherwise. I look forward to talking to you in the next video 10. The 2, W, S, and X Keys: with this next lesson, we're gonna be talking about that to W S and X keys and showing you then how to get those keys. So now again, we're using our left hand. And what will be doing then, is then with this finger right here, right? That one's We will then be using that to then reach each key, which is then that to here. So I'm going to use my pointer finger so that you can just see this more easily. But the to the W, the s and excuse. So that will look something like this. So you'll be do doing the to then the W then the s. I'm gonna try to show you this is a little hard to do when I had my hand on the keyboard. But I'll try to show you that s here and then the X So you want to get used to, then using that finger this finger like the ring finger on the left hand for the two w s and then act, So get used to that and just kind of again repeat that and just keep using that. And again, you can repeat and go to the other ones to just get used to using them here along with the other one as well. So you're getting really just used to the hand positions too again, If it does help you, you can take away your other hand, your right hand, and then just practice this and that helps at all, or just kind of keep going around what not just again get used to it is going to really help you. So that's what you're gonna want to focus on within this lesson is just using again, like your ring finger on your left hand side and then doing that for the to the W the S and then the axe. So you want to practice this and then once you're ready, we can then move on to the next lesson. And if you do, you have any questions at all like like always please will feel, let me know. And I'll be more than happy to help. Thanks so much for watching this lesson. And I look forward to talking to you in the next one 11. The 1, Q, A, Z and Shift Keys: in this lesson, I will be showing you the one Q A Z and shift keys showing you each of them and how you're gonna be ableto get to them. So in this case, with your again left hands, probably no surprise. And what will be using is that your pinky and this this position that you're gonna be adheres and being able to then give you the access to the one key, que ese, and then the shift key over here. This is important for then capitalizing to say your letters for an example. So what we'll do again is just be practicing that some with your pinkie going to the one than to the cube into the A or you can kind of see it. Cue the A Z and then shift. Just be practicing that again. You want to be like this, and if you can, if you want to take away your right hand, you can. But just keep again, practicing this and going to each position and then again, going to all the different ones, too. If you choose and just be practicing these to get a really good grasp of it and know exactly what you really need to have your your fingers and what not for the best position possible. That way you could eventually then type as fast as possible, so this would be really important again to practice. So that is The goodness is that's the mean portion as far as your left hand goes, for the most part. So great job on that and world again. Keep on continuing on with then, of course, with the right hand and showing you what to expect there along with all, even all these outside. He's, too. And explain those two as well. So don't worry. All that will be explained to you and what they mean and what not. So thank you so much for watching this video. And if you do have any questions at all, please, four feet 11 I'll be more than happy to help again. Thank you so much for watching this video, and I'll see you in the next one 12. The 6, 7, Y, H, N, 7, U, J and M Keys: in this lesson, I will be talking about the six. The why the each the end and the seven. You, j and M keys and show you then how to then get to those keys and properly type with those keys now, as you probably might. No, we're now actually, then switching to the right hand here. So first, you just want to make sure that you are then having your fingers properly on the home keys . So then first did your pointer fingers on the F the F key, which you can if you want again. We're just using our right hand here. But just getting in the good habit of that and then placing the rest your fingers like so and then what he wants to use and put your pointer finger eager right hand point a finger than on the J and then put then you're fingers. Then on the rest of these, then keys. So now that you're ready to go, I'll then show you them how you're gonna get these new keys. So then starting them with your right hand point our finger you'll wanted then just practice going to the six, going to the six scheme The why each and I am the J. C. U and seven. So just get used to doing all of these here. And this is really going to then help as faras then get you in the idea again of being able to type as fast as possible without using the they won your hands or fingers on a different hand. You don't want to do that instead again, you're gonna want to be efficient. Just possible. How you do that is making sure that your fingers on the right position and just getting used to them pressing, then these the keys here in this kind of territory. So just consider that is really each finger think of each finger for in most cases, has a certain territory and just want to know what those territories are. That way again, you can type. It's fast, it's possible and get better and better at it. So I want either practice that now as far as just being able to, then you get to all these different keys here. So do that. And once you feel comfortable, then I invite you to move on to them the next lesson. Well, sure you Then how to do the next keys 13. The 8, I, K and , Keys: now in this lesson, I'll be talking to you about the eight i k and then the comma key. And I want to show you all these different keys here and then how to get to them. So you'll be then again, using your right hand. And what you'll do is then be using your middle finger to go to the eight he that i que and then the comic e down here. So just to show you what this would look like it be something like obviously like it would look like. That's where you'd be doing it up here, which we go The ate the I in the K and in the Kama so look like that. So what I want you to dio is then just practice these again. And if you want to go back to some of these other ones to again getting that the habit of really, really kind of reminding yourself of Hey, you know, this is where all the different keys are and what not and just get used to doing all of that. And then once you feel comfortable again, then go on and then go into the next one here and what not and then not really it right there. So that's what you're gonna want to do. And then just keep on practicing. And then once you feel comfortable, then what you want to do then, of course, is then just continue on. And if you do, you have any questions again. Always feel free to let me know, Be more than happy to help. But really, being able to do this and practices again is gonna help you. And then once you do get the hang of it where you feel like Okay, now I'm kind of understanding off, you know, this is how Then you kind of use your fingers. Then try toe, remember? Hey, you know, again, you know, maybe go a different direction. Why, that's important is try to remember Hey, what is with on the bottom here and then remembers, Remind yourself, Hate the V. Then you know. Then then is an F and R than a four, you know, Then comes. Keep reminding yourself these different things, and I'll be showing you different techniques to of what you can do to really help you memorize thes things and especially help yourself over time. and get better and better at typing. So again, just practiced this. The eight i k and then the comic he down here and then you'll be been pretty set good and set than to go on to the next lesson. I look forward to talking to you there and again. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to let me know. Thanks so much, and I look forward to talking to you in the next video. 14. The 9, O, L, . and Shift Keys: in this video, I will be talking to you about the 90 the okey, the L key and then the period key right here. And then, of course, also the shift key as well. So we'll be showing you then. How to How can you then get to all these different keys here? So again, you'll want to Then get to the home key position here and then what you want to do within on your right hand, Take your ring finger and then practice going down to the nine to the O to the L and then also to the period here. So I want to keep practicing this position here and keep going back and forth here again. Just ratcheting just like the other ones. And what this is again for is you won't really pretty much for the most part, just want to say with, of course, the nine the oh, the L and in the period, But then to then get to the shift key. This is actually something that I will then kind of transit transition over to say your pinky here. Now, some of these other ones right over here you may not use quite as much as say. Of course, the letters like these other ones, you may not use as much you can. Then, of course, practice with your pinkie with these and usually again for the most time, you probably won't be using these too much on top here. But when you dio, I think it's good to get in the habit of them using your pinky for like, for example, the shift key here. So you want to be in the position here and then just practice again, hitting the chef King with your pinkie? So this is where you kind of actually using. Then, of course. And then you're bring finger for the nine, the oh, the L and period. But then using then your pinkie, then for then, like the p here and then all these these ones over here eventually again if you use them. Some people are using more than others, but then for sure, using your pinky for the shift key. So you want team they have of that and then practicing that that's what's going to really be able to help you with all these different things and really get in a good position to then be able to type faster and faster. As you continue to practice this. If you have any questions at all, please will feel let me know and I'll be more than happened. Help. Thanks so much for watching this video and look for the talking teal in the next one. 15. All Number Keys: this lesson is gonna be a little bit slightly different here and what I'll be showing you within this lesson here is I'm going to then be going over with you than the number keys. All these keys right here and with very unique about the keyboard as well has not only are there the numbers here, but what You'll notice that there's also members over here as well. And with that said, usually there's a good time to use both of them. It just kind of patenting on a couple there in factors. So let me just first share with you. What do I do? So when it comes to diving in general, what I like to do is island could then use these numbers on top here when I'm typing like this. OK, so that's the normal position, right? And so you might be thinking, Well, then, when do you use these ones over here? Well, the answer to that is pretty easy. And my really of what I have seen people use it for along with what I have in the past two for so if you're doing anything with a lot of numbers and you see that gets in numbers quickly. This is a great place to do that. I usually use three fingers and just kind of get used to that. Just kind of get used to the middle mark here. There's actually indentation right here on the five. So you know where to put your fingers at. And then you kind of just get used to it just like this kind of a thing. And some people did a little bit differently. I mean, I've seen, obviously want some people do it with one finger. But again, if you can get just doing three fingers, you'll do a lot faster. So if you're constantly using numbers, maybe it's an Excel document Or were documents something of that sort, then this is where it could be useful to. Then come over here and start typing with the numbers here. That could be a faster way to do it. Or when you can always do as well. Of course, is go back here and do it like this. It just may take a little longer that way, so that's really when you're gonna use it. And if you give any questions at all, please will feel let me now, and I'll be more than happy to help. Thanks so much again for watching this video seal in the next one. 16. Shift, Tab & Cap Lock Keys: in this video. I want to show you than two keys, the one being the shift key on the left hand side of your keyboard and then the caps lock showing you that keep as well. So first, how you gonna get theirs again? It's best to put your hands again. They have begin of getting your hands in the right position for then the home keys. Once you dio what you want to do is then what? You'll end up. We end up doing his end up using your pinky pinky finger on than your left hand. So using just that pinky finger on your left hand is and what's gonna be able to then get to these different ones our keys here and then just again practice doing this just back and forth again. Just getting used to these as well. And what you're gonna be able to do to is then also use it for the tab up here as well on your keyboard. So just explain what these do again. The shift in many times, then what this does. The main function of it is then to capitalize each letter what? Not when you're typing. So If you wanna have a capital Capital B, for example, you'd hold this down and then just press B, for example that would give you a Capital B. If you're to just press be without the shift, then you just be a lower case. Being the Caps lock is where you don't want to be holding onto the shift at all and you can just keep typing. And all of this will be even capital letters. That's what, then that's what this caps lock is for. Then Tab is kind of exactly probably you're thinking, which is then what a tab does is sailing and work document, for example, if you want it, just put like a certain like indentation are like Tab. What's considered a tab in the word document, which basically then move your sentence over a certain amount of space. You press the spun here the tap and again you'll be using that for your pinkie finger. That is then, how then you really access these different keys here, hoping that all makes sense. But if you do you have any questions at all. Please let feel. I mean I will be more than happy to help. Otherwise, I look forward to talking to you in the next video 17. Delete Key: in this lesson. I want to Then go over with you the delete key, and then show you exactly word that is. And then also kind of explain to them what exactly it does. Of course, the obvious is yes, it deletes stuff. However, it can also be used as multiple different purposes as well. So the first thing that you want to do is then, really, I want to show you where exactly the delete he is. So for my specific keyboard, here he come to the delete key is right there. Now I will say that for some keyboards that it could be slightly different. So sometimes bloodily, he can be sometimes down over here, depending on the keyboard itself. Now, sometimes laptops like this one's laptop. The keyboard is a little bit different. But don't worry. All the stuff that you've been practicing over here, that really is the same than for really all the different types of keyboard. So don't worry about that. But sometimes the stuff here can can be a little bit different. There. Those will be the back space and everything, but sometimes this can be a slightly different, but regardless, here what I do one, then show you then is then you know what's the best way to, then get the delete key. So what you want to deal again is then get to the right position and what I person like doing is then using my pinky finger here to then get the delete key. That's really what I like doing. I mean, some people do a little bit differently. Sometimes they can take off their whole hand. I don't necessarily recommend that, but I think if you have a big enough hand, you can get your fingers over toe the delete key. That's good. If not, then maybe just move your hand over just quickly, press a couple times and then get back to their correct position. And then the really answer. What exactly does Dudley he dio that delete? He is, of course, if you like, say, click on something, say, such as an image on, Say, maybe whether it be a war documentary, anything really of that sort of that you can actually, that allows you to delete it. You can press the delete button, and that, of course, yes, we'll delete it. But when it comes to say word documents. What you can use the delete key for is you can then use that key to then actually delete the letters that are in front of than your cursor that is on the screen instead of back. So, like the backspace here that would delete it, the letters and words, all that kind of stuff, right? Like before, like your cursor is. So let's just say, for example, this right here is the cursor and say, There's then all of this, right Here are letters and what not what this will do. The backspace will get rid of all these different ones here. So then you could then start typing again. What the delete button will did then do is then Sanders. You have words and what? Not here. If you press the delete button, it'll then started getting rid of the words that you have. So that is then what is it? That's really what the delete button is for. And then how to use it. If you have any questions at all, please feel. I mean, I will be more than happy to help. Otherwise, thanks so much for watching this video. And I look for the talking to you in the next one 18. F1 - F12 Keys: in this lesson. I want to talk to you about the F one through F 12 different function keys. So these really are a little bit different on each. He board to be quite honest with you, so these can vary. However, I want to show you the most pipe ther ones, and we're the ones that you'll maybe find most useful. So I'm gonna go over the ones that I personally use the most. Some of these really probably most people rarely ever used. So what I'm gonna do here and I'm gonna show you the ones that I personally use the most. That way you get a really a better understanding and whatnot of exactly what each of these then mean. So all these here, for the most part, I want to know that in most cases you probably won't end abusing much at all. So, really, what you can dio is a couple different things. So first, what he can then do is actually use the control and then press the key in that sometimes depending again on your operating system. And your laptop can do something, or what you can do to is that the function and then use this as well. As far as being able to that use this over an example. This is for the volume, so I wanted to increase the volume of my laptop itself. What I could do is that again, press function, hold on function, then pressed, depressing this and that will then increase the volume and you'll get a like a pop up notification on your laptop or your desktop showing that it's been increased. Or if you want to decrease that, you can go down to another button right here for examples half 11 for me and my certain keyboard that also decreases the volume. What I can do to as I can. Also I mean it as well, along with other things such a screen, brightness and then also even the keyboard brightness. Because, as you can notice your your keeper or it might be a little bit different than mine. Mine has a back like to it. That's why sometimes you see it kind of go off a little bit. It's a little bit harder. The see it has a light blow it, so it's basically useful when it's like night time. One. Not so it's you can easily see your keyboard. That's what is mostly four, but that's really kind of white that's there. And then also, what I can do to is I can turn it on to airplane mode. So, of course, if you're an airplane than that basically means it turns off the WiFi of your see your laptop now for if, if you have a keyboard that on your home desktop, for example, probably you won't have this cause you're not gonna be bringing on a desktop to onto ah, on a plane, so you probably won't have this. But on a laptop, you chances are you will. So that's something that you can do as well. That's gonna be also helpful to you, too. So I tell him that quickly showed those ones just as far as the F the F one through the 12 keys and whatnot. So just that way you have a better understanding of exactly what they are and what not. So hopefully that helps. And if you do have any questions at all, please feel free to let me know. I'll be more than happy to help Thanks so much again for watching this video, and I'll see you in the next one 19. The !, @, #, $, %, ^, &, *, (, ), _ and + Keys: in this video. I want to be showing you all these top keys that are really on top of the numbers here. So the exclamation point hash tag, the money sign. You know, all those different things on top here. How do you get to them? So this is what you'll want to dio. So get into the same position that we've been saying is there is a home position here, and we're all your fingers are like so And then make sure your thumbs air than on the space bar. What you'll want to dio is you want to Then use your pink here. I'm gonna try to show you here. So you want to use your pinky for an example? So I'm gonna be holding the bun down right now with my pinky. The shift button. Okay, that's will be doing. And let's see if we wanted the money sign right here. Then when I do, the proper way is then t put my pinkie down, put it on the shift key, hold it down, and then with my pointer fingers, then go to than the money sign here. So I'll be holding this down and then press than the four key, which would then bring up the money side If I were to just go to the four without the holding down, the shift had give me Ah four and same thing with all the other ones as well. So you want to hold down the chef of your pinky and then go to they say, the three if you wanted, then a hashtag. So the same kind of set goes on the other side as well that if you then want, let's just say for example, then you want the and symbol here, then what you would do is then again with your pinkie, go over to shift right here so you'll be doing that well done shift and then with your than finger were pointer finger, Then go over to the and signed. And then once you do that, then that you'll have that symbol and then just return as normal on the home home key position. And then you're ready to continue typing hope. This helps. And if you have any questions at all, always so afraid, the ask and I look forward to talking to you in the next video 20. Section 3 Overview: there's more than one way in order for you to save time while you're typing and room. That's what I want to show you one of things during this specific section. What's called than keyboard shortcuts? There's tons of different shortcuts out there. I mean, probably, honestly, thousands, depending on the programs and all that kind of stuff that you're using but not overwhelm you. Instead, I'm gonna be showing you the ones that are probably the most common that you can use just about anywhere with on really the Internet itself and showing you the ones that you might actually end up using do most anyways, So that's really want to be showing you within this section is what's called shortcuts. Being able to show you what you can do in just a couple steps compared to what it could take others many different steps in order to do that very seems has thus that's why it's referred to as a short cuts. So if your cares and ready to get started, then let's get started and I look for the senior in the next video 21. Short Cut #1: in this video on a go over with you the first short cut that you can learn then on your keyboard. All the shortcuts that I'm showing you are gonna be really helpful to you just in general when you're on the Internet and what not. And honestly, there's probably hundreds of not thousands of different shortcuts when it comes to different programs things that that sort meaning their short cuts in a lot of different things, such as, Let's just say, for an example, word for an example or excel there certain short cuts in those. But I'm going to be showing you the really the most basic shortcuts that can help save you a lot of time. That's why they're called shortcuts. They're just away the saving time. So, as you know, you can copy things like, say, such as tax, for example, online. And you can usually do this by using your mouse, your mouth or your touch pad like this, and you can then double click and then kind of then go over exactly what do you want to copy? But what you also can do is instead of them like, say, right clicking and then clicking down to say toppy. What you can do instead is highlight states certain tax. Or maybe it's even image or what not. You can highlight it, and then what you can do is you can press control holding that down and then press see for copy. Now, I will say that these shortcuts can be different, depending on the actual different device that you're using. For example, the shortcuts can be different from a Windows computer or, say, like an apple computer like a Mac. So I will be putting all that information in the resource is below. So just in case say, for example, you do you have, say, a computer that runs on like the apple software and what not? Then I will be then showing you or giving you that documented. So you can refer to that for these shortcuts. This is a Windows computer here or laptop, so I'm using the windows shortcuts. So what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna press or hold down control, which for me is right down here and how you know it's control, is that it says C T R L. So it's kind of short for control. So hold that down and then press, and then also you can then press, see for for basically that stands for then copy. So what this does instead of you having to do it with your mouse or your touch pad, you can just simply hold the control down and then the sea, and that will copy the item, just like as it would if you were to do it with your touch pad or mouse again. This is a way how you can save time. And that's just one of the first shortcuts that I want to show you again. If you're using different software that will be in the resource is really fold there below , so you can check that out if you do have something else, but they're pretty much very similar, so don't worry either way, but again for Windows, you want to press them control, so hold control down and then press see for copy and then that will copy the item. Once you have highlighted the certain item or text that you want to have copied, I hope that this is able to help you out, and if you have any questions at all place for feel, Let me know, and I'll be more than happy help. Thanks so much for watching this video. And I look forward to talking to you in the next one. 22. Short Cut #2: All right, So now with this video will be showing you the next shortcut. So the second shortcut, that could be really helpful. Teoh, generally speaking, when it comes to just doing stuff online. So the next one that I would be showing you here is again going to be using, of course, the control button here. And then what you'll be doing then, is then you'll be using the V button here and what that basically that means is then paste . So the sea again is copy in the V is paste. That is then how you're able to then simply do that instead of having to use the touch pad or your mouse is that you're something able, Teoh, hold on the control button, our key and then press copy first, maybe a certain item that you want to a copy, of course, but then you just want to put it somewhere else. And then instead of having to go down here and use the mouse or touch pad, you can then pressed the control and then visa hold down control and then press V, and then that is then gonna then allow you to then just pace that without you having to do anything in the touch pad again. If you are using something that's not using windows, I will then be providing you the shortcuts in the resource is folder within this section of the course. That way, I want to make sure, of course, that you know what the shortcuts are for your specific computer or laptop. So that's just a really quick overview off that and hope that all makes sense and again to copy, hold down control and then press see for copy. And then V is then for paste and you're holding the control down and then just press V and that will then paste whatever you have, then I have copied to your clipboard or really, what you've copied to your computer. Pulfer. That helps it again. And if you do you have any questions at all. Please feel free to let me know, and I will be more than happy to help. Thanks so much for watching this video, and I look forward to talking to you in the next one 23. Short Cut #3: in this next lesson, I want to be showing you them the next shortcut that you can use. Then, when you're doing stuff on the Internet. More specifically, I think this one's probably best for when it comes to. Maybe you're on a Microsoft Word document. Or maybe you're on to Google Doc or what not you're you're dealing with may be taxed here. Okay, this is where this next shortcut Compton deployed. That's probably going to be used the most. So what you'll do then, has again go to the control key here. You want to hold this down and then you'll want to press the X button. This is a shortcut to them. Cut. So cutting again is, say, if you have a certain word or words copied or even it could be a letter copy. And, like most copied, I should say highlighted and say you just want Teoh. Get rid of them where they are right there and delete it worth a certain location is after you could been press control, hold down control and then acts that will then get rid of that certain those certain words or letters or letter, and then you can then go to whatever new location you want this Look, you want these letters or what? Not to go, and you can then hold down control and then veto pace that. So that is then the new one here on the show, which is the cutting how to cut with a short cut. So again, that is control holding on control and then pressing x. And just to remind you as well that these were probably be some of the ones you, me actually end up using the most with this condemn finally be really helpful as well. If you have any questions at all, please let me know again. If you are using a different type of really software besides, say Windows, I will then be including the shortcuts in the folder in this certain section within the course. If you have any questions again, please feel free to let me know, Be more than happy to help. Otherwise, thanks so much for watching this video, and I look forward to talking to you in the next one 24. Short Cut #4: the next. You're correct. That I want to show you within this lesson is then showing you then how to then get out of certain windows or whatnot? And what I mean by that I mean, like, if you have something either pulled up or maybe possibly a full screens things of that sort . I mean, it could be used different ways, depending on natural software program itself. It kind of can vary and how effective it is. But let me just show you what that is and what that command is. And I will then show you this 1st 1 right here, which is then control. So you'll be holding down control and then you wanna press Q? What that does is that the way that quit? So when it when what I mean by quit is if you have certain, say, maybe it could be some kind of program. Currently, you're running a certain program on your computer that you have operate now, Or maybe you're in possibly gameplay depend. It kind of depends on what again, what kind of you have currently playing at the moment it works with some things and some things not as well but that's kind of one quick. Sure cut their. I honestly don't use this one much at all. I rather just kind of exit out the way I best know how to exit out That's guaranteed to work. However, I still just want to quickly show you this one as well. Disability No, that is available that maybe if you use a certain type of software or whatnot where you just want to quickly get out of that, just trying a command and then Q is the holding down command and then pressing que that should then get out of that. And then I quit. It is what it's the thank you stands for. So I hope that helps kind of give you an idea of another shortcut that you may have not have known before. And if you do you have any questions at all. Please feel free to let me know, and I'll be more than happy to help Thanks so much again for watching this video, and I'll see you in the next one 25. Short Cut #5: the next shortcut that I want to show you. Is that how to exit out of a window? So this is if you want them to get rid of, say what he have currently on, like the Internet or not in use One too quickly takes out of it. Here's away and how you could do that. So what you will do is again going back to the control button. You want to hold that down and then you would end up pressing is w that will then get you out of the window that you're currently and and that's what currently is what that does in order to really kind of help you again save time in the process. So again you'll want to then hold down control and then w and then that is what's gonna get you than to exit out of that certain window that you're in. Of course, make sure that you have everything saved and what not to do of whatever window you're in. Otherwise, of course, you might lose it in the process, so just be aware of that. But if you do have everything that just want to quickly delete, that is Ah, one way that how you could do that. Now again, if you are then running on a different platform besides Windows, I will have the information for you with all the different short cuts within this sections . Resource is Tab. Thank you so much for watching this video. Anything. Any questions at all? You know, always feel free to reach out to me, and I'll be more than happy to help. Thanks so much for watching this video, and I'll see you in the next one. 26. Short Cut #6: in this video. I want to be going over with you than the next shortcut that you can use. So this is actually ends up being that kind of opposite of what I just showed you, which was the control w for then getting rid of Ah, really getting rid of a window that you have on your computer Now I'll actually show you how you can then add in a new tab or, I believe with the new tab. So what you'll do is then you'll then hold down control, which against right here and then you'll press and and that should then give you, I believe, a new tab. It may bring up a new window. It kind of sometimes depends, but it's going to be one of the two. Either way, it will give you a new option as far as showing you like the different like the like, the different things that you can bring up instead of you having the thing click on the certain it likes certain Internet Explorer that you have for me and springs up a new window so you can hold this and then press this and then that should then bring up a new window. So this summer, that's it really handy. And also something that you can use pretty much right away. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to let me know will be more than happy to answer your questions. Otherwise, I look forward to talking to you in the next lesson, coming right up. 27. Short Cut #7: the very next shortcut I want to show you is then how to save maybe certain documents that you're currently on on your computer, how you can quickly do that. So if you've been kind of catching on, kind of with the pattern here, you may be able to guess this one. So this one how to do this the shortcut is, as with no surprise, you want to go over to control, hold this down and then click. Ask for save. This will then allow you to say of whatever you're currently on. When I say whenever I shouldn't say that I should say it does depend. Depend like those dependent what exactly around Because not all applications work exactly the same. But say, for example, maybe on a work document made them be able to then just click over here to control on that ass. And then that might be. Will that save it automatically for you? If you needed to know, for example, that's just an example where you can use this. I'm sure there's other ways and how you can use the short cut as well, but that's just a quick example of how you can use it personally. I don't use this one all too much. However you choose to do so. That's great in that works, too. Did you have any questions at all? Please will feel let me know and I'll be more than happening. Answer your questions. Thanks so much for watching this video, and I look for the talking deal in the next one. 28. Short Cut #8: for the last and final shortcut that I want to show you. This one actually is also really useful. I personally used this went quite a bit, and I think you'll find this to be quite helpful. So if you are than ever on a page that you want to print and you might be like thinking, Well, jeez, you know what? I have to click in order to get it to print all that kind of stuff. Here's a simple solution that it works most the time, and here is what it is is the shortcut for how to print quickly. So what you wanna do is hold down control and then press P here and then that will then give you this pop up screen that allows you to print off the current screen you're at at the moment. And when they come to say, maybe like a word document or something of that sort, I think you're still better off probably going down in selecting print on the actual program itself instead of instead of pressing control p. But to say if you're just on the Internet, for example, in Wana, Pir doubles from page this where it really shines and where it's great again, just holding down control and then pee and then leave the option to print out, print out really whatever you want and then be able to customize at exactly the way you're looking for. So holding this helps you is faras. It maybe never heard this before and also been able to learn something from this video. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to let me know. And I'll be more than happy to help. Thanks so much for watching this video and look for the time teal in the next one. 29. Section 5 Overview: in this next section, I would be sharing a few different happens. I really want you to get a hold of and really grasp and get understanding up and really more importantly, implement. Because with these habits this something that really, ultimately make you a much better writer Now, at some point or another when either you first have started typing or now you're just getting started, really getting understanding of really how to type you might have already maybe have developed a little bit of bad habits when it comes to typing, and I want to make sure that you don't have any of those. And if you do, I want to also show you how you can correct those that way. Over time you get then you're really using than the best posture possible when it comes to typing. That way, you can be more effective and even type faster as well. Then afterwards, when we go through that are unsure if you just eat. Of course, my experiences as well that way hopeful that kind of help to be able to understand, really. We've both been in the same boat before, and that way I can show you how I've been over to come opening able to overcome that. Thank you so much for watching this video. And I'm really excited to show you exactly what those happens are. So if you're ready, let's get started. 30. Habit 1: The first proper habit that I really want to get into is super simple. And this is probably something that you've already been practicing throughout the course here. But I still want to show it to you anyways. And that simple habit is this. Watch just first. I personally put my thumbs on the cute like the keyboards, the keyboards space button. And then I just simply then put them my fingers on the correct corresponding, different keys, the correct ones. Just getting in the mode of doing this, cause I know when people are, you know, your first turning out and all that kind of stuff. You might have absolutely no idea or what not. And you just don't know where to put your hands. Okay, just get into the idea of putting your hands in the right position. Just I want you to practice this, you know, do a couple of times just get used to it right away. You get right in the hang of it, even know if you see here like accidentally say I accent, put my figures on top. I know that I'm trying to feel for that little let a little bump right there and then I know I'm in the right place again. If I come on, really try to get to the Keeper quickly or whatever. I know that I'm in the wrong position simply because of that. Bob. I want to feel that bump with my fingers and then put my then put my other fingers in the correct corresponding areas. And that's how I know I'm ready to go and then start typing away hope. This helps just kind of give you an hour minder of Exactly. Here's a really good habits again into. Otherwise it could have a big effect and how quickly you're actually able to type. So again, just trying to get in there as far as get here your fingers in the correct position. And then that way it will help you type faster as you continue the practices, which I'll be showing you how to do that within this course. Thank you so much for watching this video, and if you do you have any questions at all. Please feel. Let me know I'll be more than happy to help Thanks so much again for watching this video and we'll see you in the next one 31. Habit 2: with the second hand. But here's actually something that I want you to Dio. So this one's really interesting. You may have maybe not thought of this before, but I definitely want to make sure that you're thinking of this and especially in the beginning. So I know this for a large majority of this course, you've been looking down at the keyboard. They do want to show you exactly how to do that. And that is of course, probably the best way for me to do that. Although when it comes to you actually typing, you'll want to get in the habit of actually not looking down at your keyboard. Now, I totally understand that at first you probably gonna be looking down every now and then Just remind yourself, Okay, this is where the keys are and all that kind of stuff that is completely understandable, although with something that's gonna really help you kind of take your skills to the next level is doing something really simple. So if you find yourself doing like looking down a lot at the keyboard itself, this is what you'll want to dio. So you want to take I mean it can honestly be anything that you choose it to be, but for an example, like, I'm just putting some fabric down. So let's say you'd have I would have my fingers under here and then I'd be working on typing that you might be thinking, Well, how the heck am I supposed to know if I have them in the right position? Remember, you're looking for your trying to feel for that bump on the keyboard, and then that's how you know you're in the right position. So basically you'll have your hands underneath the fabric while you're looking at the screen. That way, it'll give you in the habit, then off. Being able to really get better at your skill of writing. So you're not so tempted to look down now if you feel like Oh my gosh, you know, this is quite a big step. Will then continue to practice, you know, without the fabric. And then what I do suggest you to do to is them. If you dio then feel ready to move on, then you can put the fabric, you know, on top of your hands, and then once you do that, then what you can do to if you need to just take a peek every now and that, I think just doing those little stages I think will really help you as far as get really good understanding of exactly you know, where exactly is all the thes different keys and that will really help you in the long term . That's the That's really the second hamper that I wanted to share with you to get into when you're first starting off. And if you have any questions that'll, as you know, please feel free to let me know and I'll be more happy dance your questions. Thanks so much again for watching this video, and I look for the talking teal in the next one. 32. Habit 3: The third happened that I want to show if you that I just wanted to make sure that it's clear to that's just as important when you're just starting out is if you kind of have the kind of the pecking attitude when I say like hacking. I mean, like, you kind of are doing this kind of a thing, Maybe one hand, maybe to kind of doing this. And that's kind of hungry you've been typing in the past. If you catch yourself doing that, just go back, catch yourself, and then just go back to the home keys just like this. Just catch yourself and then do this and then just work on doing this now. At first, yes, you might be slower doing this at first, but I'm telling you, once you do have us down and you practice and whatnot if you're gonna get so much faster typing like this, the new what? If you were to do this at that, then you were basically out. Do this continue to do this? It works. It works a lot better just to dispute having the right form or right just the right way that really have your hands on. The key is, it's gonna really help you. So really may have it here to get into is, if you do find yourself doing this, just catch yourself, go back to the correct position and then continue on again. Over time, you will get better and better at this and you'll be able to get a lot faster as well. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to let me know. Be more than happy to help other ways. Thanks so much for watching this video, and I look for the talking to you in the next one. 33. Section 6 Overview: with section six. I want to be testing your skills, See where you're at right now. Now, when you're first, starting out may be giving you your brand new to really typing getting hole. You just grasp of it. Or maybe you've been doing it for a while. Either way, it's great to know exactly where do you stand right now. They're really within this section. I'm going to share a few different sources that are gonna be able to really help you get understanding of where exactly your skill level is right now. Family, You can see what is it right now and after just say a couple of days or even then couple weeks Just go buy a view practice and then see how much you've improved since then. That's really why I think it's incredibly important to then see exactly where skill level is right now. Then you could really see all these things have been sharing with you in this course. It can really help you become a much better type. Er, so that's really wanna be sharing with you with this section is really where can you exactly see exactly where is your skill level where these tools exactly. And I'll be showing you how to use them as well, if any questions at all. Please, if you let me know and I'll be more than happy to help. Thanks so much again for watching this video, Alec, for this, seeing you in the next one. 34. Typing Speed Test: with this lesson. I want to be showing you how you can really get a much better understanding of where your skill level is at at the very moment. So when now you're first starting out. And maybe you haven't done a whole lot of typing or maybe none at all. Let's just first kind of see where exactly your act. Now you might be thinking, Brennan, Why wouldn't you want to do this right now? Well, here's why. I can then really help you see really, how much you've grown after this course or after you've done some practice, as I suggest. And I'll show you in this course how you can do that. It's really show you how much you improve there have improved. Now this has happened overnight. Well, in most cases no, it doesn't. But if you continue to practice day after day in a couple of weeks, go by you will. Chances are going to say a huge improvement on your typing speed. And of course, in this actual courses, well showing you different ways and how you can do that as well, meaning increase your speed to So with. That said, I want to show you how you can do that. So what I did and what you'll want to do is go to Google and then type in typing speed test . Once you've gotten to that page and it's loaded, you'll want to then click on this link right here on top. Which, currently at the moment is the live chat inc dot com typing speed test. In the future, these results may slightly change, but for the most part, any of these top results should help you get an idea of exactly what is your really how many words you're typing per minute and these will be able to help you. But I like this one so far that most right here. So you want to click this, then you'll be taken to then this website right here, as I showed. Um, this is what's gonna then give you the test right here. The test is actually great here. So then when you end up actually doing is see all these different words right here you end up just typing after Internet records. How quickly do that And at the end, it shows you. So I'm gonna just do some of these just giving idea so you can just get an idea of exactly what it be like. So you'd be typing in these and for you. You know, you might be much faster. You might be slower. I mean, it really depends on your skill level and notice, just for example. Here, let's pretend I make air like that. You want to go, make sure usually want to go back and correct that, if possible. If you do continue on like I have been, just continue on. But that's what I heard. Is it gonna hurt you as far as the total accuracy? And then you really what he deal is you just keep going and just try your best. And really, this task that last, Like I said, just a minute and you'll be able to Then just keep doing this and just try your best at it now. Right here. Of course, I'm not maybe going quite as fast simply because, you know, I stopped for quite a while there. Plus, I'm also talking as I'm doing this. So it probably would go a lot faster if I wasn't talking. But I just wanted to show you the example on why I'm doing this right here is well is to show you the results of what it looks like, what you'll show you right now. Okay. So what this is telling me right here is that with that example right there, I have than 43 words for a minute, okay? And my accuracy was 97% since I had missed one. Okay, so that's just an example of exactly what's your words permitted? That's what this stands for. Words permit the W M W P M. Words per minute. So, you know your goal is to keep increasing this. The higher this is, the faster you are then able to then basically do like type. And that's what your goal is again for. I think a lot of people in their first starting out, you might get under 20. And that's perfectly fine. Just again. Try to keep increasing this over time, so hopefully has been able to help you. And if you do you have any questions at all, please will feel, let me know, and I'll be more than happy to help. Also, you know, continue to do this. I think this is a great way to also practice to, but I'll be also showing you other examples, too and how you can practice. Thank you again So much for watching this video. And I look for the tongue teal in the next one. 35. Practing: Now it's time to put your skills to the test. So what you're gonna want to do is go and head over to Google again and you want to type in practice typing this Web centric care, which is actually typing dot com, has these great different things that you can do in order to practice your own skills and typing. And it can really help you along the way, get better and better. So it will give you this something similar toe looking like this and what you're gonna be able to do is then be able to then really be able to go through this and then I'll give you kind of answer as far as like, how are you doing? So I'm gonna show you quickly do this is they talk here, and what you'll notice when I'm doing this is that. And then you get to see what he have type, really? But when while you're typing and and once you eventually possibly get something wrong, it'll show up in like, this red letter and then that'll have should be tracked the and so it at the end, we'll actually see that as's faras, the actual like accuracy and whatnot. Then once you do get to that point, you're able to then really track and keep going or and you really kind of just see your progress over time. And it's really great way again to really practice your skills. So for an example, as you can see here, this one and gave me then 57 words per minute a Zaken. See, I've been doing other ones, and you can see my because my best one here was, I think 70 words per minute. So is actually not one of my best ones. But the point is, you can actually see how things were going and how things are potentially improving our even what things you need to work in. So certain keys like here, these the ones I can prove on for this specific one right here. So this is something that's really nice to know about when you are just getting started and what not now, Will you ever be perfect? No. I mean, chances are you're not going to be absolutely 100% perfect. I mean, nobody is, however you're definitely just gonna want to. Then just make sure that you're improving over time. That's really the main thing. So hope. This has been a believe me, an idea of just a different way and how you can practice your skills. Now. There's many other websites that offer this for free and things of that sort. But I just want to show you one of my favorites here that I have found that I think you could also benefit from. Do you have any questions at all? Please feel free to let me know. I will be more than happy to answer your questions. Thanks so much again for watching this video, and I'll see you in the next one. 36. Section 6: in section seven, I'll be showing you how you can increase your typing speed now, when you or your first getting starting your first giving really used to than the new hand physician for typing. You know, at first maybe you might end up, actually even be tight, a tap it slower than you were maybe before just using maybe just a couple of years. But what I can tell you is, over time you're going to get used to the new position, and you should become a lot faster at two. And really, within the tips that I share with you within this section, that should really help you that over time, become a faster and faster type. Er, if if any questions at all again throughout this whole section or even course, please feel free, let me know, and I'll be more than happy to help. Thanks so much for watching, and I'll seal in the next video 37. Tip 1: My first tip for you when it comes to increasing your typing speed actually might be something that you might have not have thought off before and then actually have to deal with your sitting position or your sitting posture. Making sure that you're sitting correctly can make a big difference on to actually how effective you are and and how fast you are at taping. If you're in a really uncomfortable position, of course, is almost to be expected that you probably won't do as well. You're probably more concentrated on how maybe your back is hurting you, because maybe you don't have it exactly really, where it should be. Or maybe it's your neck. You know, there's a lot of different things that it could be so with, really, with this kind of picture here, this diagram I wanted to share with you some things that you can do that help you now. First, that you can see that there's different measurements and angles in this picture diagram here. I'm not saying you have to, you know, take out, you know, any kind of measuring tool and measure away how far you are and what not. I'm not saying that at all. Although hopefully kind of gives you an idea of Kevin just exactly where, in general probably you should be to really help. Best help you star is getting really comfortable on really your chair and where you have your desk and whatnot. So this is preferably how you should look in some way, shape or form to some extent. So there are some he could very slightly, depending on what kind of device you're using. Such a say this the desktop example. If you are using a laptop, this might be slightly different. But here is then what I suggest for really everyone do you kind of just going down. The list of things first is just make sure that your upper back and whatnot is just also relax at its sides as far as your shoulders go, but then you're back. It's also straight to so trying to really make it comfortable. And now if you feel like you don't you're not very comfortable or whatnot. If you feel like that place, try it kind of scooting back more in your chair so that what you're back is up against the back of the chair. in because chances are the back of your chairs. Chip is more than likely going to be, then somewhere at around a 90 degree angle, which is kind of weird in the sense where you want to be. When it comes to them, you're back and or didn't have it to be more comfortable over time. In addition to that, too, when it comes to the screen height of of the actual desktop or the computer, some some people and I'll even say I'm guilty of this sometimes to naturally, you'll want to lean your back forward or whatnot easily more easily see the screen. But instead, what do you want to do if possible? If you have, this is, then adjust the seat for really the correct height. So if say, for an office chair, ah, lot of them offer some kind of lover where you can. Then really, you could make the chair either smaller meaning that is tall or taller. You can get it up and height some. They kind of do very depending which one you have. Or if you don't have anything like that, try just finding a different chair. Whatever one fits you best that's gonna make you feel the most comfortable. Once you've done all those different things, just making sure that get then putting your your feet on the floor. Not not in a way. That's of course, yes, uncomfortable. But just, you know, out in front of you and not crossed or anything about Sir Bridges flat on the ground and then just resting, then also you want to do to is notice how your head position here and also for your neck. For the most part, you're looking straight ahead. You're looking right. We're not really person looking down so much. You're more, more less looking right straight ahead. And that's kind of where you want to be at. So in the case, in this example, let's just say, for example, you had a laptop where you won't be maybe need to be a high, as the chair is right here. In this example, you could always been adjusted share again. If you don't have that option for your chair that you're currently sitting in, then they just try to find a different share. Are just trying to make it work, or maybe even try to find a different table top where you can put your either your desktop or your laptop. That way, you'll be more comfortable over time, and it's literally help you really want. All these things are in place when you're feeling the most comfortable possible. This is going to then help you really kind of train your brain to be much more concentrating on the words on the screen or your thoughts, meaning like being able to take that out instead of thinking on the back your mind, while my back, you know, really is kind of sore right now are kind of hurts or my neck that way. This is going to really be able to help you again. Be able to type is fast as possible over time. If you have any questions at all, please feel. I mean, I will be more than happy to help. Otherwise, thanks so much for watching this video, and I look for the timing teal in the next one 38. Tip 2: My next tip for you is a couple different things. First, I want to let you know that really you should just be in almost comparing. Really. You should be only comparing your results to yourself. Meaning compared toa, you know, Compare yourself to what? Your doing yesterday. Are you improving? Are you getting better? Maybe not in actually the speed itself. But maybe you notice that you have more of ah, more consistent flow to how you're being able to Then type and you just feel like you're getting a whole lot better. Just you see improvement in yourself. So really, being able to really be able to go the next step and continue to practices relate what's going to be incredibly important in order for you to then see, you know, results over time. And that's brings up another point that I want to make to you as well, which is continue to practice. And even though that you know, you may not be used to the actual say, the actual positioning of the hand right now are your hands. As far as like when it comes to typing, mate, you might feel it's a little maybe a little bit awkward right now. Or maybe you feel like it's just not working for you. Don't worry. I can tell you that it's gonna get a lot better over time to be a lot more normal. I know that at first I remember when I first started taping that I was really, really slow. I mean, like, I just was. I mean, it took me forever to just get something done. And maybe you're in a similar position right now. I just want to let you know that I have also been there, too, in that I know that you can really improve over time now. Right now, I'm doing a really quick test here, and I just want to show you I mean that. But if I'm not the world's fastest tight type, er but I'm Duffin at the slowest. And as you can see here just quickly and again, I'm talking when I'm doing this. So I probably could do a little bit faster when I'm not talking about as you can see here. I got then 52 words per minute, which is solid. Ah, lot of people want to be like over the 50 mark So as you can see here, I was then able to do that. And my point is, you know, all the things I'm teaching within this course, that is the things that really helped me in the past and really would continue to help me in order to really get better and better as it goes on. Now, in order for me to do what I just did here, you know, was I like using two fingers and typing and everything. Well, absolutely no, I was I was having the exact positioning that I have been showing you throughout this whole course in order to do what I did. And for people that do it a lot faster than me also used the same position to It's just that, you know, they've probably practiced more, more focus. I'm just getting faster for me. This is probably plenty, plenty fast for me. However, for you, maybe your goals to hit 60 or 70. If that's the case, continued to practice and continue to really get better and better. When you do and you continue to practice, then yes, you'll get better and better. Hold. It is able to kind of just give you another tip as faras. What you need to be doing in order to really see your results get better over time. Thank you so much for watching this video. And I look forward to talking to you in the next one. 39. Tip 3: with this third and final tip, I want to give you a tip that you may have not have thought of before. And this is something that a lot off the really fast high pers do. They might do it, not even thinking about it or really realizing that they're doing it. But here's one of the big keys to being able to type fast, especially when it comes to doing these types of, like tightenings b test here. The thing is, when would the make sure and how you get to go relief fast, as far as taking fast. Once you get to the point where you feel like you know, you can type at a pretty decent pace, Here's the heat. Most people right here for an example there they're worried about the first word here. Peace in this example. What I can tell you off what the most literally the fastest people that do it, You know what they're concerned about? They're concerned about the next word, meaning they can be quickly acknowledged this word. But then the next step is to then go over to this word while they're typing this meaning and we can kind of prepare themselves to get ready to type this one, and then he goes on to the next one and then to the next one to the next one. If you're so concerned about the first word I'm telling you, is gonna take you a lot of wire to type than it is to then winter than and said, me having a little bit more focus on the next word. I do want to clarify, though, within this video that this is a little bit more of an advance points, meaning when you are just starting to learn how to type. Don't worry about this, OK? It's just when you get a little bit more advanced, or even when you kind of get just a little bit more skills on really on her shoulder here because when you're first getting started out, I understand that your first concern is going to be the very first word. I get that, and that's what I recommend you do. I much rather you properly type this end using the right really the right the right way and how to type it, meaning. Having your fingers in the right position. I much rather you do that, then you more focused on trying to then quickly type the next word that maybe you have, like, the wrong road, their own positioning for I don't want you to do that, so don't get me wrong about that. But what I am saying is, once you do get to the point of where you feel, you feel you really feel more confident, then that's really where you can really start to pick up some speed is you're not so much concentrated on this. The word throughout the whole time you're typing it, you glance of it, you know what you have to write. Then you go into the next word, then to the next word. That way, you could type and get the stuff out as quickly as possible. Otherwise, if you're just focus on one to the next to the next, it's him. Take a lot more time for you to kind of process that through your head and then start typing it. So hopefully that makes sense. And if you do you have any questions at all. Please feel free to let me know, and I will be more than happy to help Thanks so much again for watching this video. And I'll see you in the next one 40. Er, now, this is not gonna happen overnight like I'm saying. But what I am telling you is a few practice day after day and just a couple weeks we'll buy . Did we really be practicing these things over time and just continually just keep having the right proper really placement off your fingers in your hands in the right place. That way, you're really gonna be able to really best be able to really help yourself really put yourself in the position to succeed. I know this because I went through the same thing that you're going through right now. As far as you know, I started where you know, one type for much at all. And then now again, I'm I can type in certain cases over 70 words per minute, which is definitely, you know, a respectable amount. And I think that's something you can potentially get to as well and possibly even exceed. It just takes a little bit of time and practice again.
