1. Introduction: If you're entrepreneur,
business owner, freelancer, someone starting
their own business, and they would like to hit
the ground running and leverage social media for the
benefit of their business. TikTok is a very powerful
tool that you need to utilize in order to
support your efforts. In this current course, we
are going to learn about some tactics and strategies and key mistakes that
we need to avoid, in addition to certain technical
arrangements and set up procedures order to increase the chances of you
going viral on TikTok, making sure that your
brand, your personal brand, your business, your own
entrepreneurship journey, gets recognized and gets that
highlight and that boost, which will help you get some attention to your
products and services. Hi, my name is
Hussaina Tia Masio, entrepreneur, educator, a company owner, and a YouTuber, and many other things as part
of the creative journey. In this current
class, I'm going to teach you a couple
of important things. Which I have learned
along the way, and I implement them
within my business, in order to increase
the leverage of TikTok, in which we are going
to learn why TikTok, what kind of account we
need to have in order to leverage certain
TikTok tools. What are the key technical
production aspects that we need to keep in
mind in order to make sure that we're actually getting the a boost from the
TikTok algorithm and not getting hindered along the way by mistakes that we
are quite oblivious about. In addition to some key tactics which are business oriented, which will help you leverage
your production scheme, help you take your
accounting creation level, to new heights, rather than just
simply posting content randomly or using TikTok
for entertainment purposes. You're using TikTok for
business, for entrepreneurship, for personal branding, for social media marketing,
and the list goes on. This is a professional
approach to TikTok. Let's get the class start.
2. Your Project : Your project for
the current class, revolves around creating a video on TikTok based on the tactics and strategies and key insights provided over here in
this current class. In addition to creating another TikTok video the
same way that you would do normally and compare the analytics from a
business point of view. After you've completed
the project, you are going to take a
look at the analytics of your TikTok
business page and feel free to share them with the rest of the community for feedback and for inspiration
based on such insights.
3. Why TikTok: So why TikTok? Well, TikTok has been getting a lot of hype
recently and keeping in mind, if you examine the history
of social media platforms, you tend to notice a pattern. And the pattern always
follows the same path. Whenever you have a new
social media platform, the first couple of years, the social media platform is actually supporting
new accounts, new creators in order to get that involvement to
get that engagement. And as years pass by, and the platform
becomes saturated, we hit a plateau in which the actual algorithm does not support new
creators anymore, and the tendency goes to paid advertising
or paid promotion. However, TikTok since
it's a new platform. Up to this current date. It's still pushing
new creators videos based on authenticity
and engagement. In other words, if
you have a video, which is quite engaging, it's quite authentic in nature. It fits the platform
requirements as we are going to discuss
in this current class. It will give you that boost
to help it reach more people quite easily compared to other platforms based
on my experience. So this is quite favorable for business owners,
for entrepreneurs, for freelancers,
anyone who's trying to set up their own company
brand, their personal brand, their own
entrepreneurship journey, and they would like
to just simply access a marketing platform with higher odds of succeeding. TikTok is the go to option at this current stage because
it has a broader reach. In other words,
you're able to access more people with minimal effort. Compared to other
social media platforms. In addition to cost impact. When you are trying to
market your product, you market your service, especially if you're
getting started. You do not have any
budget for marketing. You got no access to finances to promote a
product or service, and you're leaning more towards organic approach to marketing,
which is perfectly fine. And this is what you
shouldn't do at the beginning of your entrepreneurship
journey. This is what I did
at the beginning of my entrepreneurship journey. You need to leverage
smart tactics and strategies to get the
best out of the platform. And TikTok is the
one which is quite easy to tackle at the beginning. There are a couple key tactics, couple key specifications
in terms of the production and a
couple of key hacks that we need to obtain and
learn in order to help us leverage our
TikTok approach. In order to help us leverage
our TikTok approach, and this is what
we're going to be covering with further detail
in this current class. To wrap up this current lesson, TikTok is the G two option
at this current stage because it's quite easy to use It helps you
reach more people, and it's quite cost effective regardless if you're going
for the organic approach, or you're going for an actual
paid advertising approach, it's still quite cost effective.
4. Business TikTok Vs Personal TikTok: So when you're trying to set up your TikTok account, it's
quite straightforward. You can just simply go
to Google type TikTok and download it on desktop or on your mobile phone from any
online applications store. And then you add on your
details, your e mail, and you sign up, and you got a profile similar to
any other platform. You add in your profile
photo, your bio, your description, just simply to have
presence on that platform. But the main key aspect that we're going
to be tackling in this current lesson is
the differentiation between business accounts
versus personal accounts. When you are accent TikTok
for the first time, by default, you're granted
a personal account. Personal account from
the word personal, just simply for your own
convenience of usage, you get your own profile, get your own description, you upload your own videos, and you engage with the rest
of the community on TikTok. However, it has
limited abilities, especially when it
comes to business. That's why this whole
lesson revolves around shifting your account from
personal to business account. And how do you do
this quite easy? Just simply go to your
account on TikTok, click on settings, and
create a business account. When you do so with
a click of a button, you go access to more powerful tools
within TikTok to help you leverage the platform
of TikTok to actually boost your
presence on the platform. This includes
extensive analytics. You're able to add
links to your bio, which is very powerful. As you grow in the following, once you cross the 1,000 followers benchmark
the same way I did, you're able to add
sign up forms. You're able to
link to a product, you're able to link to
a service directly, which is not possible
through a personal profile. As a professional marketer, you understand how
powerful this is. So when someone lands on your
video, they see your video, they see the product,
they click on the link and they land
on the product page. That's it, rather than digging for the information
through your accounts. So this is very, very powerful. It's a que
differentiator between personal accounts and
business accounts. So once you switch to
business accounts, you have access as well
to other creators. You're able to actually
hire creators from the creator's marketplace to
boost the brand awareness, to help you promote
your own products, and this is a pro
advanced strategy. Once you've got sufficient
marketing budgets, sufficient finances
for your project or for your business.
Able to tap into that. But at this current stage, assume you are just
simply starting out, you are a beginner, you
are a new entrepreneur, you're a new company owner. You're trying to
establish yourself and you're using TikTok
to help you do so. So the best way to go about this is just simply set up
your business account. Then, as we are going to learn, as you upload your videos, there are key tactics they
need to keep in mind, key mistakes to avoid,
key specifications, to incorporate and a couple hacks to help you plan
your content strategy, such that When you are getting enough traction
to your account, you're able to leverage these tools from the
business account, such as dalytics, you're able to see how your audience responds. You're able to see most
importantly their interests. When you're able to
see the interests of your own audience,
guess what? It helps you tailor
your message, tailor your content
marketing strategy in order to address
their interests. So a business account on
TikTok is way powerful, way more powerful compared
to a personal account. In addition to, you are able
to access on the desktop. You're able to access the
business center for TikTok. You're able to access
the ads manager if you're planning
on creating ads, which are very powerful
supplementary tools that you could use to help you further boost your business, rather than just simply
having a personal account and you click boost a video,
and that's mainly it. So we're approaching TikTok from a business point of view, from a professional
point of view, as we have mentioned. So what we need to do
at this current stage, if you downloaded TikTok, go ahead on your TikTok profile, you are going to switch
it to a business account, and as you switch it
to a business account, add on your details. You get more options.
You can add links, you can add contact details. You can add up sign up forms. If you have over
1,000 followers. You're able to add more
details to your bio and how customers or potential customers or leads are able
to contact you. Straight from the business page, and this is very
powerful rather than just simply having a very
basic personal account.
5. The Hidden Native Approach to TikTok: Now, in order to increase the chances of
success on TikTok, and this information is
straight from TikTok resources, so this is quite solid. What you need to
do is, you need to make sure that your
content strategy, the videos that you're
putting out there. They should be quite authentic. They should have a native
approach to the platform. And what I see by native, it means everything that you do, it should be related
to the platform and the style of videos
and the platforms. Just simply shooting a video
from the application itself, gives you further lift
off further reach compared to shooting it on a different platform and
then we uploading it. So the algorithm is quite smart. You're able to distinguish between a vio which
has been created exclusively on TikTok for TikTok and a repurposed vo which has been taken from
a different platform, then we upload it again. So you have to be
careful with this. When you are trying to shoot your first video, first of all, in order to increase the chances of the video, going viral, use the actual
application on the phone, rather than shooting
it somewhere, then editing it somewhere else, and then posting it on
the TikTok application. The more steps that you do
from shooting to releasing, the less reach that you get. And this is something
that I've seen based on my experience as well. So what you need to
do, make sure that your content is quantum
native to the platform. You are actually being
very transparent, very organic, very human like. This is very powerful on TikTok. Since TikTok favors
natural engagements. You need to be yourself.
It's not about being the master of editing or having
very powerful edits. On the contrary, like,
I've experienced this. I've released two videos
on our company's account, and I've noticed the difference. One video included
a lot of edits, a lot of background sounds, a lot of footage,
a lot of clips. It was perfectly crafted. Then we released that video. With high expectations,
and then it plummeted. We didn't get that reach. Then on the other
hand, we've shot on another video in
which it was just simply through the camera of the phone, very minimal edits, very minimal arrangements,
very minimal setups, but we followed the key tactics, and we avoided the key
mistakes that I'm going to be teaching you in
this current class. And that video, till
day, it's still vialing. We're getting profile views,
we're getting followers, we're getting engagement, simply video that we have shot
over six months ago, as far as I can recall. It's not a matter of
crafting perfect edits. It's a matter of being
authentic, being yourself, and being native to the
platform in which you are sharing content that resonates with the people
on that platform. Keep in mind what works on one platform doesn't have to
work on another platform. The key take from this
current lesson is, we are going to develop
a native approach to our video loading strategy and content marketing
strategy to TikTok.
6. Stick to the Core of the TikTok Platform: One important lesson as you are planning to shoot
your first video, always keep it simple,
do not complicate thing. It could be as simple as taking the camera of your phone and
shooting your first video, and that's me it and
you're uploading it. But it should be in
the vertical format. Since the platform was
based on vertical videos, nine by 16 ratios, make sure that you got
the ratios correctly. Now, if you might underestimate
the impact of ratio, which I've done
at the beginning, and it really affects the
progress of your videos. Since the algorithm
is going to filter those videos based on
certain technical specs, including the ratio
of the video. Keeping in mind now,
TikTok is shifting towards long form video
at this current stage, but the tendency goes for vertical form videos nine by 16. Once you get those
ratios and check, you've eliminated a
potential obstacle in the way from your
videos going viral.
7. Adjust Your Phone Settings and Specifications for TikTok Lift: Then we need to make sure that our videos are high resolution. So how do you do this? You
go on your phone settings. When you're shooting a video, tap on the settings
of the camera. Make sure that your resolution
is at least 720 pixels. The optimal resolution
is about 1080 pixels, which works for many creators, but less than 720. You will not go anywhere. Just simply it's an end block. That's it. Make sure that you meet the minimum
resolution requirements, and the higher the resolution, the better because
authentic videos, there should be quality videos. And one key metric for quality is the resolution
of these videos. So when you're shooting a video, make sure that you get the
settings of your phone, right? You are shooting a
higher resolution video, and before you publish
or release that video, make sure that you confirm
it's at least 720 pixels.
8. Data From TikTok on Videos Reach and Lift: Now, in order to further
reinforce the concept, I've gotten for you
some key metrics which are obtained
from TikTok based on the information mentioned
earlier with regards to the pixelation and
the video resolution. Now, the videos which
are in high resolution, they got over 90%, more reach, more lift off
compared to other videos, and the videos which included
high resolution elements, non pixelated elements,
including images, they got over 300% So that image that you've been adding or injecting
in your video, and you think it's just
simply a harmless image or harmless footage or just
simply a screen capture from somewhere that
you've collected, or image that you've downloaded
online and you've added it to your video, high
resolution video. That image by itself
is able to reduce the impact of your video
from going viral by 300%. So this is very powerful, and I've missed this myself
at many occasions by simply having high resolution
video from A to Z, you increase the chances of your video going viral by 300%.
9. The Pixelation Dark Hole of TikTok: This is something which
I've learned the hard way. When you are shooting
a video on TikTok, often during the editing
part, you add some images, you get some visuals
from different sources, and you incorporate
them in your video. However, if one of those
images that you have added to the actual video
footage is pixelated, or is a flow resolution, actually impacts the
ranking of the video. So if you're shooting a video, completely high resolution, high res, let's say 1080 pixels, and then you add an image, JPEG image, for example, which is quite pixelated, that image by itself is able to ruin the progress
of the video. So you need to make sure
that throughout the video, videos, images, any
graphics that you add. All of them should be
of high resolution and do not underestimate the power of high
resolution in terms of your video lifting off
and going on going viral. So if you do have, for
example, a four K video, and a couple of images
which are quite pixelated, not so high res, this will diminish the
reach of your video.
10. This Destroys Your Business Reach on TikTok : And this is something I
wish I've learned when I've started using
TikTok for my business. It is something which
is often overlooked by business owners,
entrepreneurs, marketers. Do not use logos, do not use promos, do not use or add
any references to websites or phone numbers
on your video posts. Yes, you've heard the right.
Now you might be wondering, well, we're doing this
for business, right? We're operating a
business. So how could I No add those details. Well, the approach to TikTok, the approach to social
media markeing is, you put in quality video, and your profile is basically where you add
the business details, the website, the numbers, and links that you would
like to highlight. Not on the video itself. I made that mistake before. Larly, a video could go viral, but due to the fact that I've
added our company's logo, add phone numbers at a
website, and that's it. It diminished the the
performance of that video. So learn from my mistake. Go ahead, when you post a video on TikTok,
make sure that, even though it's for business, you have your own company, you got your own
freelance project, you got your own personal
brand that you're building. Do not add any logos, do not add any
promotional materials, discount codes, all
of these things. They will be detected
automatically on TikTok, and the video will
be diminished. The whole key goal
to keep in mind, We need to be releasing
videos which are authentic and which are
native to the platform. Just be yourself, talk about your project, talk
about your brand, talk about the things
that you're doing, and that by itself is more than enough to help
your videos go viral.
11. The Most Important Hack in Social Media Marketing: And this is basically
a no brainer, but I wish I've learned this at the beginning of my
entrepreneurship journey, do not reinvent the wheel. Success leaves bread
crumbs, leaves a trace. So instead of jumping into the platform as if
you're the first creator to use the platform
and trying to be quite unique and special.
Well, this is true. You got your unique voice, you got your own unique brand, your own unique
personal branding, approach marketing,
bus whatever it is. But every single
platform operates differently in order to increase
the chances of success. Rather than spending a lot
of time experimenting, failing over and over again. The best way to increase
the chances of success is simply to take a look at
what's working already. Based on your niche,
based on your industry, let's say you have
a cooking business, you got a travel business, you got a product
for, let's say, whatever it is, you're going to go on the search on TikTok. Type in the name
of your product. Type in the name of your service or the name of your industry, and take a look at the accounts. Let's call them competitors,
similar creators, individuals, companies offering
what you are offering. This is step number
one. Keeping in mind, this is worth gold. It will save you a lot of
time and a lot of effort and exponentially increase
the chances of your success. So it's very helpful. Take a look at what's
working on the platform, whether a video,
whether a business. Now, once you find a video, take a look at the
number of views, the engagement, the
comments, the feedback, the clicks, it's getting
for that specific video, which is related to
your own business. That once you
transition from that, you need to add your own unique voice at
this current stage, your own unique selling point to distinguish yourself from
the previous content, but maintaining certain
parameters of the content. For example, if in that video, which is related to your
industry and niche, there's no person
present the video is simply a footage,
do the same thing. Or if you're releasing a video, and that video has a cup
of coffee somewhere, add a cup of coffee. Lary, these small tweaks. They worked they work really
well. They work wonders. I've tested this
myself and one of the videos on one of my
other TikTok accounts. And one of those videos. I had sunglasses on and
that video went viral. We got over 40 k views
and still counting. Then I've shot a similar video, but without my glasses on, and that video got a
couple hundred views, even though the second video has a better message
from the first video. So I've tried to
test this again. So I shot a third video
and I got my glasses on, and that video went viral again. So for some reason, there are key metrics when the algorithm
is uploading your video. I think it actually matches a couple items which
are present on the video to other viral videos. And if some of them are present, it means people are likely
to engage with such a video, therefore, gives it
that extra boost. Feel free to experiment
with this for by all means. You will surely have some really valuable insights and results. So the key takeaway
from this lesson. Do not reinvent the wheel. Take a look at what's working, try to add unique selling point for your product and service, try to incorporate
some elements from that video or that product page, which actually went viral. Into your own upcoming
content strategy. Of course, you're not going
to copy anything for sure. You need to make sure that your own video is
unique and special, but you're incorporating
creative elements, like we have mentioned in
order to make sure that your video aligns with the
algorithm preferences, rather than just
simply trying to reinvent the wheel and
experimenting and wasting time.
