Transcripts
1. Welcome to the Class: This course is not about
crafting the perfect CV, memorizing interview scripts
or using tricks about how and where to look for
jobs that leave you aimlessly searching
on job platforms. Let this course teach you what
you haven't tried before. And if you are frustrated
and unwillingly accepting less
than ideal offers, just because you somehow believe that you
cannot do better, then I invite you to travel
the road less traveled, the untraditional path
to looking for jobs and actually landing
in the dream job that is only made for you. This is what happened
to me. I went from a top telecom internship to a leading bank working
with global clients and agencies to being head
hunted while I wasn't looking for a job to abroad
with an astronomical package. That company even waited for me almost a year to
make up my mind, finish my projects, and then
finally signed the contract. Looking back, that position was almost uniquely
created just for me. It was the ideal job
for me at that time. Ideal job for you is real. It is there and it
is waiting for you. You just need to learn
how to align with it. Hustle and hard work alone
may open some doors to you. But if you can trust yourself
enough to step away from traditional way of looking for jobs and losing up a little bit, believe yourself that
you already have what it takes to secure your dream job that truly ticks all the boxes. Then the process won't
feel like a race against time or a desperate grab
for whatever comes along. Instead, it will become a
uniquely beautiful journey where you can receive everything you truly want from a job. About getting clear on what you want and how you want to feel in your new job in ways you may have never experienced
in your previous companies. And then allowing
your unique story, both professionally and
personally to shine and fill the position that could
only ever be filled by you. The first part of this
course focuses on how to effectively
search for jobs without over intending
or overworking and common pitfalls
that often make you appear a bit needy
or unappealing, or worse push you into roles that you are not truly
passionate about. And if you are here, if
you care to do better, then highly likely you're professionally capable of
landing in your desired job. The only thing might be
holding you back is lack of self confidence in how you
will show up in interviews, whether you will present
yourself well enough or not. I've seen many professionals
who had more than enough than the required
qualifications for the role, but because they
didn't feel confident, they missed it until they changed the way how
they see themselves. The second part
of this course be the interview preparation
you've never had. This section is divided into three parts before
the interview, during the interview,
and after the interview. We'll not focus on external
things like your CV or how to prepare it or how many interview questions
that you practice. The guidance that you can
easily find anywhere online, but we'll focus on you and
what you truly want from a job and how you internalize your expertise
and express who you are. Welcome to a new chapter in
securing the jobs you desire. I hope you enjoy this course.
2. The Class Project : Before we start this class, I would like to give
you a little bit of information about
the class project. Basically, the class project
for this class composed of reflective questions and
some journaling prompts. It is very important
for me to open the space within this class
because in daily life, we usually don't give
ourselves the time and space to go deeper with the important things
in our lives. As modern humans, that we are always on the go go go mode, but we have only little
time to stop and reflect, to go within, to contemplate the important and deeper
questions about our lives. That is why while I'm
providing you the information and the knowledge
and the strategies that will be useful
in your journey, but also give you the tools
to listen to yourself deeply, to get in touch with
your intuitions and your heart and your
deepest desires. And because we will do
a bit of our writing, it will be great if you
can have a journal, and notebook or colorful
papers or pen next to you. Is what I like to do
when I immerse myself in a self development project and dedicate a time schedule
for this practice. And it will be
really great if you really treat this space. Is like an experiment that you will do on yourself that has a beginning and a development and also a result at the end. That we will celebrate together. So basically, there are three components of
this class project. Firstly, there will be some
journaling prompts in some of the lessons that I will ask you to take your time and
answer them honestly. And because these questions may be different than the questions or the problems you received
or faced in daily life, you may not finish
them in one sitting. So allow yourself the time and let these questions sync in. And allow the answers
to emerge in you and be really authentic and be really honest with yourself in
answering these questions. But also do what
needs to be done and dedicate a focused time to
answer these questions. While you're igniting the
creative flow to go through, you also give yourself
the structured time to run the creative muscles. Secondly, I want you to ask yourself this question each
time we finish a lesson. What I can do with the things
that I've learned within this lesson and implemented in my daily life to change,
to adjust something. What could be one action step
that I can take in my life. I don't want this class to be something that you accumulate
all the knowledge, but don't take any actions. And at the end of the class, there will be multiple things in your mind that you
think you should do, but because they look so big
and massive in your eyes, you will be hesitant
to take action. And because I don't
want this to happen, I suggest you to divide it into a little chunks so that it will be easier for
you to handle. E, I will ask you to connect
with your body and check how everything we
practiced and learn along with these lessons
feels in your body. You know, our body
is not just made of our hands and legs and
arms and things like that, but it has its own wisdom. Do you feel and sound confident or hesitant when you're
sharing your experiences, your truth, and what you truly
want from your employer? I'll ask you to self check your stress and anxiety
levels and learn how to transmute
them so that you will show your true
potential in interviews. And one last thing.
If something that you hear within this class
rings a bell for you, opens a new door or let you
experience a breakthrough, please don't take these lightly. When you finish this class,
keep working on them. And also, I encourage
you to share it with the community and
continue this rippling effect. Well, that's all I'm asking you regarding the class project.
I want you to know that. I am truly excited to take
this journey with you. And with my whole heart, my intention is for you
to see leaving this class with meaningful and
practical informations that will stick with you long, long years and not only
for your career life, but your whole life in general. Right now it's time to start. I'll see you in
the first lesson.
3. L 1 - Stop Chasing Jobs — If You Believed It Exists - What Would Your Dream Job Be Like?: Come to lesson number
one in this lesson. I'll guide you through
a set of questions to uncover what you truly desire when it comes
to your dream job. Many people, they say that they want to best for themselves. But when we ask
deeper questions, we figure that out that
actually they don't know what that perfect
job actually looks like. So I don't want you
to be one of them. So that's why in this lesson, we dedicated the first part
of the lesson to focus on certain questions
to uncover what you truly desire in a dream job. We also talk about the
importance of keeping an open mind in your job search rather than becoming
fixated on where or how the ideal
job will appear. This is going to be the
second part of this lesson. So let's start with
the first point. So most people, as we said, are just searching for jobs based on what they
think they should want. What popular at that time, what is fancy, what would
look good on their CVs, or they even go
after the companies, their names, you know,
without even, like, deeply checking whether
the company's values align with their
own values or not. So these people, they just let their outer world
dictate their life, but don't focus on what they
truly want to experience, what they genuinely want
in their work life. And allow this clarity to
draw the experience to them, but they do the opposite. Knowing what we want and
setting the intentions accordingly is the
start of this game. Without having this clarity
and going after, as we said, certain things that
would look good on paper is not the ideal way
to start this journey. Just to deal with this, I have some prompts that
you can use to define what you truly desire when it comes to your
ideal work situation. So if you're ready, let's
start with the prompts. Feel free to stop and take your time to
answer these questions. So the first question
is, how do you work? Project base, home office, hybrid, or at a specific
country or location? Do you want an unlimited
time contract or would a one year contract
be enough for you? What kind of people
are you working with? Are they friendly,
helpful, like minded? How is your direct manager like? Is this a competitive
environment, or do people have
other interests in life other than
their occupations? Question number
three, how much money do you earn while working
this perfect job? And feel free to put the number that would
truly satisfy you here. This is what most
people try to do here. They try to diminish their needs or what would
truly make them happy in order to fit themselves
into certain positions or to increase their
likelihood of getting hired. If you put the number
that is not truly satisfying you would create
some problems in the future. So feel free to put the genuine number
that would make you happy. But keep this in mind. The money that we earn is a direct correlation to the value we put and
the problems we solve. So keep this in mind
while putting the number there and the confidence that
you have in your skill set. Question number four, how do you feel being a
part of this team? Do you think you are
genuinely valued for the expertise that you bring to the table,
for who you are. Are you being valued
for those qualities? Question number five, how do you want your ideal day at
the office to look like? What do you wear?
Going to the office? Do you prefer in person meetings or do you prefer Zoom calls? Last question is this. Now I want you to ask a
question as if you are helping a dear friend to figure
out their dream job, okay? And write that question and
then answer it for yourself. The second thing that
is really important when it comes to
the basics is to be open minded about where and how the opportunities
will come to you. It doesn't have to come
through the places that you always expect. Is
what happened to me. I wasn't specifically
looking for an opportunity, but having an experience
abroad was always on my mind, yet I was detached about it. However, based on my location, if I had the option, it would have been ideal
to be somewhere in Europe, but it didn't turn out that way. The opportunity came to me
from a European company, but for the Vietnam office, a beautiful Southeast
Asian country where I never applied for. But I'm still grateful for all the gifts that this
country has offered. Same thing applies for where you look for the
job opportunities. And if you are like most people, you may be using Linktn heavily
as a job search platform, but there's nothing
wrong with LinkedIn. But if you are going there and scrolling every day
aimlessly without knowing what you're actually looking for and treating that
platform as like any other social platforms that we go and use to kill time, then this is the problem. Know your goal, you can use LinkedIn's wonderful search
options and filter options, and they have a beautiful
learning section. You can go there to invest in your craft and learn something, review the resources,
that is all fine. But don't go there, wishing and hoping to came across
with your dream job. Just go there when it is needed, when it is necessary,
and know that. These are just platforms
to help you find the job. You are the one who is finding the perfect job
for you, not the platform. Example is, the opportunity might come to you
through a friend. You don't even have
to be there and looking for and searching for by yourself on these platforms, but a friend of yours
might come across with an offer and may think
about you and think that, Okay, this would relate to them more than it relates to me, and they may forward
this opportunity to ex colleague starting
off in a new company might offer you in position or friends friends
whom you meet up casually in a friends meeting would offer you something that you
may never think of. You may even bump into the business owner
or the entrepreneur themselves who has been looking for someone in your
position. Well, who knows? I mean, your job
is not to control where and how the perfect
offer will come to you. Your job is to be clear. About what you want and
how you want to feel. And, believe me, this is
the name of the game, and this is what you need to
know up until this moment, at least until the end
of our first lesson. And the rest we will
cover in the second one. I'll see you in the
lesson number two.
4. L2 - The Art of Waiting —Staying Aligned When Nothing Seems to Be Happening: Come to lesson number two. In this lesson, we'll talk
about what you need to do and what you can do
in between the stages. What do I mean by that
is after you apply for the job until you
receive some offers, or you set the intentions and you're still waiting for
the offers to arrive. I know these in between
stages where we put the efforts haven't
seen the results yet. Could be a tricky
place to handle. So in this lesson, we'll
cover what you can do to ease up the stress
during that time. So the first point is we need to keep connected with
the intentions that we said in the
lesson number one. We need to review
those intentions every single day,
feel the feelings. How would that dream job
would feel when we get there? Right now, if it were true, how would I feel right now and know that there is a
job out there that is a match to every single
thing that you put on that list that checks all
the boxes in that list. Why not? Most of the time, we don't even believe
that this is real, that it can be real. So even knowing and
feeling that this is a possibility that the dream job that I would like to
have is out there, and it could be a possibility.
It is a possibility. And stating that
acknowledging that, even do the whole work because believing is
really important. It gives us discomfort. So reviewing those
intentions that we set in lesson number one daily
and connecting with that dream on a regular basis will activate the frequency so that life and the universe can start working with
you to set the stage, to bring the possibilities, and at the end the dream
job that you want to have. Okay, so number two is
something fundamental, but I still want to
cover this basic part. I want to make sure that
your digital presence is fully up to date and align with the intentions
that you set. I'm sure many of you
already covered that part, but if some of you out there still needs to
do some adjustments on their digital profiles and their intentions in accordance
with their intentions, go ahead and do it because
we are going on a journey, and we want to make sure
that our shoelaces are tied, our backpack is ready because we can go on a
journey at any time. We need to be ready from
this point onwards. And it is not only professional to have
an up to date profile, digital profile or or
CV, doesn't matter. But going into that preparation and updating process also
warms your system up and primes your brain and
system to get into that journey of landing into the dream
job that you want to have. We need to prepare our vessel, prepare our current life to be a match to what
we want to have. So we make sure that
our current life and everything that we can
do in our current life right now to be as close as possible to the dream future
that we want to have. Because the version of you who already secured that
dream job you want to have would already have that digital presence
ready and up to date. So make sure that
your current state, current profile is up to date. With what you desire
to have at the end. Number three, adjust
your search filters on the job platforms
that you are using so that you won't spend more time
than it is needed. So know that what
you're looking for. We already set the intentions. So align your search filters accordingly so that you won't kill time on
those platforms. And so it narrows your
focuses when you get there. And once again,
just make sure that you get there when it is needed. Go to those platforms when it is needed or set time
daily to go there. Do not spend more time
than it is needed. As we said earlier, these
are just helpful tools. The platforms are not
finding you the perfect job. You are finding the
perfect job for you. Number four, make time work
for you and not against you. Here in this point, I
would like to warn you about a trap and warn you
not to go into that trap. And the trap is
the waiting mode. Remember, you are not hopeless. You are just aligning with the opportunities
coming your way, the best possible opportunities, and you are calling
in your dream job. Know your worth and
act accordingly. Focus on your current life
and your responsibilities. Spending your whole morning
or afternoon on LinkedIn or any other job search
platforms will not increase your chance
of getting the job, but focusing on your self worth will go on with your life. You'll know when to act. It will be so obvious
for you to take action. It will be apparent
and you can't miss it. Until then, just focus on
crafting your work, learn, create and for example, you can use Linktn
for that purpose. I mean, they have a
great learning section, learning center, I
guess, they call it. You can go there and
check out the resources. If you're going to use those platforms,
use it in that way. But this part is often the most overlooked
aspect of the process. You cannot get
obsessed with it and expect to receive
the perfect offer. This ideal offer, this
perfect offer will only complement your
already good enough life. It won't be like a
touch of a magic wand. I mean, the offer
that I received was obviously a great
upgrade to my life, but I was already happy
with my current lifestyle. I wasn't even aware
of this offers absence in my life
because I was focused on my current role and focusing
on the current projects that I I was focusing
to launching them. And I was having great fun with my colleagues and all I
was happy where I am. So my current life was
the fertile soil for this beautiful offer
to arrive to me from somewhere that I could
never, ever think of. Be that fertile soil for the perfect offers
to pop up in your life. Even if you are not
happy where you are, you can always find something
to be grateful for. You can always make some
changes in your life so that you get happy with your current lifestyle because
no matter what you do, what you put in, if
the current ground, if the soil is not appropriate
for these things to grow, it's impossible for you to
reap the benefits of it. So make sure that you are
not in a needed state. You are not in a waiting mode, and your current life is the fertile soil for the best opportunities to come and actually
grow in your life. Not obsessing, and the concept
of detachment will dive deep separately in another
lesson within this course. So stay tuned because we really need it every
step of the way, not only before we receive
the offers while waiting. We also need it after we even finish the
interviews and all. So let's make sure that you have a healthy
relationship with detachment. So stay tuned until we focus
on it in a separate section. Number five, act on the
opportunities coming to your way, even if they are not perfect, even if they are not
what you're exactly looking for, attend to them. And if you can, it obviously depend
on the volume. But if you can attend
the interviews because obviously they will increase and give you a boost of confidence.
And you never know. I mean, sectors and the
companies that are not in your radar may give you the opportunities that
you never think of. I mean, maybe they're
looking for someone in your profession and because
you are rare in that sector, they may give you a
really good package, and they may have a great
friendly environment. So be open minded, as we said, and attend all the opportunities that are coming to your way. Last point, number six,
follow your intuition. I mean, I guess this
is an advice for life, but for this time, be even more in tune with your intuition because
you never know. I mean, as we said,
the opportunities may come from anywhere. So if you receive a nudge to call an old friend or an old colleague,
don't ignore that. Act on it. You never know. The offer might come
from somewhere, from someone you never expect. Or if you receive
calls and, you know, invitations to meet
up with friends that you haven't been
in contact for a while, don't ignore those
invitations, attend there. Well, keeping an open mind is
also important because when we set expectations that where and how and
through which platforms, the opportunities will come. And when those
expectations are not met, we automatically lower our mode. We got into the moody mode. We got into the needy mode. We got into the waiting mode. And as we said in
the previous point, we need a fertile soil for the right opportunity to arrive. And when we open our radar, when we don't put any expectations to
where and through which platforms or which resources that the offers
will arrive to us, then we also reduce the stress factor and
we increase the mode, so we become even more rich and more fertile for the right
opportunity to come. With that being said,
we've completed lesson number two and
ready to go Lesson three. And on lesson three,
we'll focus on how you relate to your CV. And is it a good
fit for you or not? Well, you may ask
that, This is my CV. Of course, I'm a great fit
for it, but believe me, there is more to it
because we do everything. We try to do everything right
to create the perfect CV, but sometimes along the way, we lose the authenticity, and this creates huge problems, and we'll cover all of
that in lesson three. I'll see you in that.
5. L 3 - Own Your CV — Real Confidence vs. Paper Confidence: Come to lesson number three. On this lesson, we'll focus on whether you are a
good fit for your CV, for your own CV, and how
do you relate to it. Okay, so we sometimes
do everything right. We create the perfect CV. We put all the right
keyword sensitive words according to the
position that we apply. So the keywords, you know, position specific keywords pop up in every single sentence. We use Chachi PT and perfectly
optimize our CV and all. And by the way, there's
nothing wrong to use Cha HIPT, but if we sterilize our CV more than it's necessary and try to
do everything right, we sometimes have
the risk of losing the authenticity and become alienated almost
from our own CV. But if we feel
like a stranger to our own CV as if it is
someone else's perfect CV, then it will be so
obvious on interviews. Almost like going into a social setting where we
don't have the right costume. Even if we have no problems
with our self esteem, we still feel a
bit uncomfortable in that setting because knowing that we don't
have the right, you know, costumes going there, we feel a bit anxious, and that is really normal. So this is what happens
with our CVs, as well. We try to do everything right, but we lose the authenticity
with our own CV, we lose the connection with it. Even if we use Chachi
PT or other tools to optimize our
CV, which is okay. There's nothing
wrong with it. It is really crucial to
internalize what's in it. Like, everything we write there should sound like
they belong to us. And I found that the only
thing that works for me to prevent this from
happening is to own it, on every single thing
that I write on that CV. And imagine everything
that we truly own and feel confident to share actually
has a story behind. So these are the things
we actually live. So in order to make
things sound authentic and for you to
confidently express them, you need to have a story behind those things
that you share. Well, you don't have to share everything in a storytelling format just because I said so. But knowing that
even the snapshot of things that you share, knowing that they all have
a background and they have a future results will make those things
sound more concrete, more real, and more authentic. This also makes things appear
more stronger and tangible. Like talking about
the chapters of your own movie
about your career. That's the only way to confidently show up and
express your experiences. Well, don't worry if
it's a little bit foggy, we'll dive deep into this in the next lesson.
I'll see you there.
6. L 4 - Hidden Accomplishments — The Wins Only You Have (and Why They Matter Most): Come to lesson number
four on this lesson, we'll talk about how to
include the crucial parts in your CV about your career and also how to create
a story around it. Well, I'm sure you already
list the major experiences on your CV and the projects you accomplished,
the important ones. But I bet you forgot the
very crucial part out because I've seen
this happen with many candidates from
various professions. So here I invite
you to dig deeper. There are always
things we accomplish, but we tend to overlook
and don't consider them as noteworthy enough
to include on our CV. You might think
that, Oh, you know, this is what I was paid for. It's not really an
accomplishment. But hey, do you
really believe that? Does everyone do their job well just because they
are supposed to do? Take a sales manager,
for example. Yes, their role is to help
company make a profit, but not every sales manager has good relationship
with vendors. If thanks to the
trust relationship you cultivated with the vendors, your company receives
good offers, deals, and favorable terms
that in return help your company make profit, this is not something small. It deserves to be highlighted, not hidden behind
the line saying, you know, successfully undertook sales projects on your CV. Or maybe when you first arrived, the team wasn't solid and the fundamentals
weren't in place. So even if it wasn't your responsibility,
technically, you go ahead and hire new teammates with
zero turnover rates and buy new tools and also start
running weekly digest email so that everyone on the company learn about what's
going on in your team. And you may think that, Okay,
this is something very, you know, basic that
I accomplished. Well, no, actually,
you absolutely need to mention this kind
of maintenance work because it really matters. Well, I'm sure you can find similar examples on your
career journey as well. You know, sometimes the things worth mentioning
are not directly linked to a direct profit or a launch day, but
they still matter. They might not look
shiny on the surface, but they truly matters, and they are quite achievements that build the foundation
for everything else, actually. Well,
include everything. Maybe you have a keen
eye to details and you catch certain mistakes
on the last minute. Within a project proposal that needs to go to a
government department. That matters. Mention
it or maybe a colic on the verge of resigning right before an important
project launch, and you know that it
will be a disaster for the project for them to
resign in the last minute. So you took your time, maybe your whole lunch break, maybe a couple of days to talk through the
issue with them. And you know that the feelings that they are going through is just temporary and they just
couldn't take the stress. So you dedicated your time to understand what's going on and to help them change their mind. And when you succeeded,
it's not just, you know, simple thing that
you, you know, succeeded on actually something that
really matters and important for the well being of the whole team and the
whole project. So that's a note worthy
success, mention it. Include it on your CV. Do not overlook those
kind of things. Well, okay, you may say that. How can I mention something
like that on my CV? There are multiple
ways you can utilize these kind of examples on
your CV and on interviews. We will dive deeper on the interview part in the
other lessons on this class. And also on the next lesson, we will talk more about
how you can get memories out of your memory bank and then take note of them and
how you can use them. For the sake of
clearing the confusion, if you had some
after listening to what I've just said,
this is how you can go. So these are basically
soft skills, right, and many people they overlook and don't even mention the
skills that they have. This is one thing that
you can utilize just by remembering to mention the
soft skills that you have. The second way how
we can utilize these kind of soft
skills is by again, simply remembering and
taking note of them because by the time
when the interview arrives. And when we say that, okay, I'm a team person. I mean, I'm very I have, like, good relationship with
peoples or vendors. Sometimes it might be
harder to come up with solid examples and
experiences to back these go through
the process that I will now mention in
a minute to you and remember and take time to remember those
particular times and experiences to show that you are a good team
member. You are you have really
good relationships and you have good soft
skills and stuff. Remember those
experiences and have them handy to mention when
you have the interviews, it will be really helpful. Obviously, you have
multiple experiences that you can prove that you
are a good team member. But because we never
use that muscle, never think of
specific examples to, you know, show that we are a
good teammate, team member. Not we are lying, but it
looks like we mentioned it just because it's like a good keyword to
mention on our CV. We'll dive deeper
into this concept and subject on other lessons, but just wanted to give you a quick clarification
here and hope it helps. Now, pick a time, put your
headphones and go for a long walk or maybe go by
the sea or go to a park, maybe, you know, take some days off and be with yourself
to do this practice. And do not treat
this practice as something a task to check
off your list, okay? Treat it as something you've
never done before, maybe. About your whole career
as if you're watching a movie and give yourself
the credit you long deserve. As I mentioned,
this practice is to remember the overlooked
details about your career, overlooked accomplishment
and success stories that you overlooked, and just go deep into your
memory and your memory bank and bring out the
successes you thought maybe they are not worthy
to mention on your CV, but after listening
to this lesson, think that, okay, I have
multiple things that I've never mentioned on
interviews or put in my CV, and hopefully you will find valuable examples
after this practice. And if you feel stuck
and think that, Oh, I can't remember
anything, don't worry. And the next lesson,
we'll help you stretch your mind and get creative
with this exercise. I'll see you in the next lesson.
7. L 5 - Remember Who You Are — Why Copying Others Will Never Get You the Job: So let's stretch those
muscles to help you go creative with the practice that we discussed on the
previous lesson. Welcome to lesson number five. On this lesson, we'll
talk about what is your unique advantage
that you bring into the team to the table
that no one else had, but you had back then and
made difference back then, on your previous
roles and in general. Most of the time, we tend to compare ourselves with
other colleagues, other people and try to fit
into the success metrics that one size fits all type of success and achievement
metrics that are, you know, commonly accepted
among the vast majority in the corporate world or within your team or
within your company. The problem here is that we forgot our own
unique advantages, trying to fit into the success metrics that is widely accepted by the
company or by the team. But the thing is, I mean, everyone is in the team
for different reasons, just as we are here in this
life for different reasons. If, let's say, like
doubling the profits, completing a project before its launch date is a vastly
accepted success metric, then we tend to start adjusting our own success stories
around those metrics as well. If we try to be like
everyone else or even worse, try to look like
someone who we are not, then we never actually totally feel fulfilled within
the roles that we receive. And most probably if we're
hiding ourselves or not being honest about our unique
advantages with ourselves, we'll never get to
these jobs that would make us
fulfilled at the end. Even if we get certain roles, we recognize that it's
not a good fit for us, or it won't stick with us
for the long term because we could not bring what is
asked for this job role, obviously, because we're not
a good fit to begin with. Be creative and open minded
about our strengths as well, because they may look different than other people,
other colleagues, you know, the popular
boys or the girls within the team or the shiny
accepted success metrics. In order to identify
our true strengths, we need to look at
ourselves with an open mind and with a different set
of eyes with authenticity. Think about the moments that you naturally stood out
within the team. Maybe you were the only men
within a team full of women. So you played the
role of anchoring all the creativity going around and give them the
structures they need. Maybe the opposite was the case. So you were the one bringing the lightness into
the atmosphere, help team resolve the
conflicts, ease up the stress. And after you joined the effectiveness of
the team skyrocketed. Go creative here, see yourself through a
different set of eyes, not the ones shaped by the traditional values of the corporate world that once
make you fit into a box. I hope these examples
help you see yourself through different
eyes and let you go creative and allow yourself
to go creative by thinking about your strengths and your unique advantages that
you bring to the table. In, you know, work setting
and in general in life. And with that being
said, we've completed the lessons for the pre
interview section of this class. And starting from now, we will start covering the interview phase and what you need to do
during the interview so that you can show your true and full potential within the interviews. I'll
see you in the next lesson.
8. L6 - The Interview Prep No One Talks About : Welcome to lesson number six. With this lesson,
we begin to discuss the interview phase of
securing your ideal job class. With what you will
learn in this lesson, you'll have the most ideal interview process where you can showcase your most capable
and true self effortlessly. After you do
everything on paper, it is also important to believe what you
preached and practice. If you don't believe in
yourself, no one will. How would you act and speak if you feel confident
in yourself? Obviously, your breath
gets slower and deeper, you would feel calm
and less stressed. You'll be at ease. There will be an inexplicable charm
about your energy. Without you physically
catching up with what you know and
believe in and practice, there will be a gap, and it will be obvious in interviews. So this is what I want you
to practice right now. Imagine yourself speaking
to someone whom you know or imagine speaking about something you already
have an expertise, where you feel comfortable
speaking about. In those circumstances,
how would your body reacts and feel?
Think about it for a moment. Would you be feeling relaxed or tense or would you feel
at ease and neutral? Would you feel
anxious or just easy? I don't advise you to necessarily advise you to review your CV
before an interview, but I want you to trust yourself and check
in with yourself whether how you feel also reflects your level of
trust in your body or not. If you find out that it's a no, why and what you can
do to get closer to the feelings you feel
when you're speaking about something you're confident with and to someone
you know well. The And apart from relaxing and making you feel more ready for
challenging situations, this practice will also make you immune to the responses or
the mimics or the way how the interviewer presents
themselves to you in case you're someone like me who sometimes easily take things personally. With that being said, we are ready to go to
the next lesson. In lesson number seven, I'll share my ultimate
interview tips with you so stay tuned.
9. L7 - From Candidate to Consultant — Be the Energy You’d Want to Hire: Up until this moment
within this class, we focused on how you can highlight your
overlooked achievements, not just the big ones
that has launch dates. We also talked about
how you can stand out for your unique and
distinct advantages. We also talked about how
you can relax and chill so that you can show your
true potential on interviews. And now we are here for
the finishing touches. On lesson number seven, I'll share my ultimate
interview tips with you so that there won't
be anything we leave out. Don't try to do
everything just right. B true to yourself,
B who you are, but at the same time,
be bold, yet humble. Trying to do everything right
on an interview is just as same as trying to
create the perfect CV. But is it relatable? Not sure. Trying to portray
a picture that is not you is a total no, no. You may get away with hiding behind the perfect words
that you put on your CV, but never on one on one. It'll be obvious on
interviews if you're stiff, if you're trying too hard and don't come across as authentic. We as humans, we all have
the inner detectors. We can point out who
is true to themselves, who is authentic or who is not. So this is this inside,
this inner knowing. So don't get into this
trap on interviews and be true to yourself,
be who you are. Well, of course, you will
want to show your best self. I mean, get prepared,
dress well, do your hair, put on makeup if needed, and try to be polite and
listen before you answer. Don't just make this mistake of trying to show
your best self with trying too hard and even worse picturing an
inauthentic scenario. Tell a good story.
We talked about stories at length in
Lesson number three, four and five, and now it is time to put all of
them into action. Here I want to talk about
a method named SAR. And this method, maybe
you heard of it before. You can use it to answer
the questions that you asked on interviews
in a structured way. It's a framework
that you can use to give the answers in
a very systematic way because the S here stands for the situation or the problem describing the situation
and the problem. A stands for the action
steps that you've taken to maybe
solve this problem. And stands for the results. I mean, the things that you
implemented and improved. So you see the results
of those actions. For example, let's say you asked a question
on the interview, whether you are a team player
or you prefer to work solo. And you said that you
are a good team player, and now you need to
back this statement up. So you want to use the SAR method in order to answer the question
in a systematic way. We use this example
throughout the class. That's why I'm going
to use it here, too, to complete the whole case. And imagine that you have
a co worker, a friend, a colleague wants to resign
and you're in the middle of an important project
and the launch date is getting closer and closer. So this is the description
of the process. You describe the situation
and the problem. And the action steps you
take is to go and talk to the friend because you sense that this is a temporary
case for them. They couldn't just
take the stress. So you understand the
issue at its heart, at its core, take
responsibility. So this is the actions
actually you take. And then the result is you persuaded that friend and
they changed their mind, so you increase the overall
well being of the theme, and you, you know, obviously positively
affect the launch date and everything
regarding the project as they are someone
who is key to that project and you are
running out of time, right? As we have talked extensively
within the course, for the result part
of SAR method, you don't have to always
need to showcase them the numbers or the projects that has launched before
their launch date and all. You can use soft skills that positively
affected the well being of the team or the
projects as well. This is what we did here for the sake of
this example too. Well, as we said, you can
use this method for any type of experiences or examples
that you want to describe. It's a great framework, state the problem,
actions, and the results. So keep this in mind and
make sure you use it in almost like most of the questions that you
get asked on the interview. Always think of what
I can give to them, what I can bring to the table, what I can provide, what I can give versus
what I can get. This one should even be like
our life motto, isn't it? I mean, we tend to always
look at the cases and situations in life in terms
of what I can get from it. I mean, maybe this is
healthy to a certain extent because we need to think of
our own well being, as well. But here we are doing
what is not tried before. That's why I want you to think
of it in a different way. So turning the arrow
to the other side, and we am encouraging
you to think of what you can give to the company.
What you can put on table. Honestly, what you are
planning to contribute to this company, knowledge,
expertise, anything. If you already made your research about the company and know about their
current problems and all, maybe the interviewer
stated some of the hurdles that the company or team that you're applying for
is going through, and you can think
of some answers in that moment or if you
made your preparations, what I can truly provide
to them in this case. Well, of course,
you don't have to citate this on interviews, like reveal the whole plan. But this change of the point of view will be
obvious within the interview. And the interviewer will sense that you're not here to just
take and take and take. You're not after
certain roles, money, you know, titles and all, but you're here for the real. You really want to
provide and give to them. So this will automatically
create a different atmosphere within the interview
because probably this is something
they're not you know, used to seeing in candidates. Feel like a consultant
rather than a candidate. I mean, this one was a huge game changer for me
when I first heard about it, and now I will share it with
you so that you can use it. And I know this one
is not something that most people know and implemented on interview processes,
so stay tuned. So okay, the candidate mindset, I need to prove myself that I
am ready for this position. Am I good enough
for this position? Blah, blah, blah? Whereas
the consultant mindset is, I bring expertise and perspective that can
solve their problems. This is the simplest
mindset shift that you need to implement
and embody within the interviews in order to feel like you are a consultant
rather than a candidate. You can literally co create some solutions during
the interview. When they state some kind
of problems that they have, you may go like, um, Okay. I mean, I've seen
similar issues when working on company
X or project Y, and we solve it by
doing this and this, you can use SAR here to
describe the situations. And do you think a similar approach could work here or not, so you can pose a question just like a consultant will do
it in a meeting, right? They would feel like you're
already a part of the team, you know, rather
than a candidate. Before the interview, anchor yourself within this
inner dialogue. Tell yourself that, I am
here to solve their problem. They are here looking
for a candidate. They have a certain position or a problem to solve to fill, and I am here to see
whether I can be a good fit for them
win win or not. It's just a collaboration.
It's not an audition. And just automatically,
this will give you an ease and confidence and comfort
within the interview, right? Think of walking into a strategy meeting or
any type of meeting, but not a test that
you are being tested. Consultants have two energies
that they dominantly hold. One is curiosity and the
second one is authority. They're curious to understand the situations that they
ask question, they learn, but they also have this
authority that they have expertise to help
you solve the case. Make sure you land
into this knowing that you are open for
learning, you're curious. But you also have a
certain authority because you have an experience. You bring your knowledge
to the case here, to the role that you
potentially might get. So make sure that you blend both of these
within the meetings. So when you embody this, you know, mindset shift being a consultant
rather than a candidate, it will be a parent within
your energetic field, and the interviewer sense
that that you have this call, knowing yet curiosity and
openness at the same time. With that being said, we've completed lesson number seven, and I'll see you in the
lesson number eight, which we will discuss
the salary and how you can answer the salary expectation
question. I'll see you.
10. L8 - Talk About Salary with Ease — Ask for What You Deserve with Grace: Welcome to lesson number
eight on this lesson. We'll talk about
how you can answer your salary
expectations questions and how to get to
win win at the end. Well, for me, this is one of the easiest and most
clear questions to answer on interview process. However, working with
people over the years, I recognize that and also talking to friends
and colleagues, this question is one
of the most trickiest and hard to answer and wage
question for many people. That's why I wanted to
include it within this class, and I'll share the four steps that you can implement
answering this question. First of all, do your homework, do the benchmark and
look at the market and the range for the current
specific position that you're applying so
that you will not look like you have no clue about what's going
on in the market. Secondly, give them
a number within a range rather than giving
them an exact number, which actually kills
your negotiation powers. And thirdly, make
sure that this number is actually what makes
you happy at the end. This is the problem
with many people. They give numbers
and play small in order to get hired and out
of fear of not being chosen, so they kind of shrink what they would make them happy
at the end of the day. Well, don't do this
because this creates other problems
along your journey. After you get hired, you feel resentful to the company that you're
working for because actually, this is not the number
that you want to work for. However, know that the
number that you give, the money that we earn is a direct correlation of the
service that we provide. So make sure that the money
that you're asking from the company is an
equivalent of the service, the knowledge and expertise you think you can
provide to the company. We always need to look at this
balance of give and take. This is the only rule, I guess, you need to keep in mind
after you did your benchmark. Obviously, for the
specific position, for the range to that
specific position, this is the only
rule that you need to keep it in your mind and keep it in your heart when you're
answering to that question. Lastly, end the discussion, stating that I am open for negotiations because
I don't want money to be the sole reason for us to
stop our interaction here. Tell them and show
them actually that you're not only after the money, you're after the
experience, but, you know, satisfying experience, and
money is a part of it, but not the only reason. Show them your genuine interest in the job and tell
them, actually, you're open to find the
common ground here, the win win that you can get. And one bonus tip here, if somehow you couldn't do your preparations and don't have a number ready
in your head, tell them that you will give them your answer at a later time instead of coming up with a number within the interview
if you're not sure about. Hopefully after
listening to this, now, salary expectations question is just a piece of cake for you. You know exactly how to
answer this question with confidence and
ease and peace of mind. With that being said, we're
almost finishing the course. There is one more lesson left, and on this lesson,
we'll talk about detachment. I'll see
you in the next one.
11. L9 - Detach and Trust — You’ve Done the Work, Now Let Life Do Its Part: Congratulations and thank you
for sticking till the end. On this final lesson, we'll talk about
detachment and why it is important to detach
once you do everything. You did everything you can. You applied for the job that is truly resonating with
your needs and wants. And then you had an
amazing interview process that you did your best, show up as your best self. And now it is time for
you to just chill again, just as you did
before the interview. Make sure you don't also stress yourself more than
necessary about, you know, obsessing
about the results, when it is going to come, how it's going to turn out and all. We've said we'll touch on the detachments
within this class, and we've talked about it a
little bit once you apply the job that you think it
will make you satisfied. Make sure you keep
on living your life, focusing on your craft, focusing on you because you know you're good in either way. If not this, then something
else, something even better. But also, why not this one? If you truly want to
acquire this job. But if it won't you should know that there
must be a wonderful, perfect and amazing reason why it didn't that you
cannot see right now. In either way, your ideal job will be yours. Don't overwork. Don't overstress
because the version of you already got their dream
job would not be stressing, but getting ready to
start an amazing journey. So get ready, be prepared
for what is to come. Just positively expect
the best outcome. Just as you detached and
move on with your life, once you apply the job, and waiting for them to get
back to you, you do the same. They apply the same
strategy here. You did everything,
and now you're waiting for the results.
No need to stress. Easier said than done, but
this is the name of this game, the last bit of this game that is going and going to
take you to success. One last point before
I leave you with an amazing code that I want
you to hear definitely. In case you did everything,
nothing happens somehow. You get so close, but somehow nothing
turned out as you expected and you've been on
this journey for a while. Maybe it could be a
time for you to look into some other places like maybe within maybe you
already had an idea, a business idea that you
want to give it a go. Maybe you believe that you have some gifts to offer
to the community, to the world, but you
never take it seriously. And if you believe you did everything, and
somehow, someway, it doesn't work out and
you don't know why, maybe you can consider
a different path. Just saying, I mean, you'll know the best. Well, I want to leave you with an amazing code that I
really like from Matt Cook, and it says, When you
detach like it has done, you are not ignoring reality. You are stepping
into a version of yourself that already has it. Well, I truly hope that
this class was what you've been hoping to get to encounter
in your career journey, particularly in your journey of looking for jobs and
landing in meaningful jobs. Thank you for taking
this journey with me. I hope to see you in
another one. Take care.
