1. Introduction: Hi, My name is Andre Saw Maureen. I'm a professional artist and today I want to share an exercise with you that is the most important one in the whole process of learning to draw. If you're learning to draw, you need to do this exercise from beginning to end. At least once in your life. It's called universal perspective. Ended develops your visual and spatial thinking. But before we start, I want to explain to you why this is important. The thing is, today's drawing education market looks roughly like this. 10% are professional artists. They can draw anything either from life were out of their head. I'm sure you know such people, all the others trying to emulate professional artists, meaning they watch tutorials and speed videos or trying to copy their works. But I'll share a secret with you. What the difference between the two categories of people is, as a matter of fact, the first category never studied in the way that the second those 90% do. They didn't watch tutorials, didn't copy other people's works so much, but at some point they obtained academic education. Academic education chiefly develops your visual and spatial thinking. It is generally accepted that people who are developed in that way from their childhood i e . They can think in images. They are visual learners. This type of people are talented and likely to excel in drawing. Basically, talent is a developed visual learning channel. You probably heard there are people called Visual auditory and kinesthetic learners. There are also those who process information through the channel of logic. 40% of people are visual learners, 40% are kinesthetic learners. They learn through experience, 15% are auditory learners, and a mere 5% are a logical modality. Visual learners are those people who think images and who create in their mind three D models of objects when they do, when they can imagine the construction when they can fit it into the space correctly. After that, they can transfer the model on a two dimensional piece of paper. Basically, this is an ability either inborn or acquired through an academic program. In both cases, you can improve this channel. If you want to learn drawing, you should start correctly. What is usually advised us to learn by drawing something specific, say, an arm ahead or an eye. But this is not quite right, because if you draw something specific, it doesn't guarantee you can interpret this. Drawing in practice aren't freely on your own without guidance. Former ship. Whereas if you develop visual thinking, you can moderately images yourself, Modify them in your mind, and essentially it enables you to draw anything. I suggest that you do this exercise that will give you the sense of space. You'll feel it, form it and correct it. After you achieve symmetry, you'll be able to manage this space in a right way. Do the exercise thoroughly and scrupulously. I don't say it will be easy, because usually teachers promise you'll learn to draw on easy way. What we talk about here is internal change, a change in yourself. So please do everything scrupulously and carefully pay attention to what is recommended. Rely on measurements. Take a pencil and I wish you success. Let's begin to learn correctly
2. Universal Perspective. The first part: Hello, everybody. We now move to one of the essential exercises of the course. It's called universal Perspective. Will do this exercise for you on a larger sheet of paper. You will do it on an eight to tried to use all the space you have. Put the sheet of paper vertically on the easel, and before you start drawing, make it square removed the top and bottom so that the short side becomes the side of the square. Shouldn't at least a Robin Ellis star unequalled Arata? Because the exercise is going to be symmetrical on all its four sides? Three. Universal perspective is an exercise that shows us an exaggerated perspective when we conceive vanishing points on our left and right and the whole world that we can see it 180 degrees around us is drawn on a piece of paper. A Ziff. It were a photograph made with a fish eye lens with a 180 degrees angle of view. Wear. Doing this to develop our visual thinking well, draw cubes in this space and will try to retain the experience in our mind. Do everything very carefully measure everything. Look at the crossing points that I am going to draw. I do it with me. Step by step. Okay, let's start the first thing you do. You find the horizon line Exactly. In the middle of the square you made out of an eight to paper. I draw a horizontal line look and I cross it with a vertical line. Use the sides of the square to check that the distance is the same. Use your pencil to measure it. I have here the same distance to the edge of the paper into this point. So measure and make sure this line equals this one. If you zero with your torch here and you drop points really big, distinct spots. Four points for four sides and you draw a point in the center. After that, you draw a perfect square in the center. You intersect the line when you drive. Check that you mark out exactly the same lengths on all the four sides. Measure them once again. Measure them once again. Show us Then divide the square diagonally. Mark the angles with points. Check the links of the diagonal once again. I mean, we check the distance between the points, erase those of the additional lines that were not exactly in their place. Put the drawing in order, erase everything irrelevant. So the construction looks neat. And after you take away the construction lines, take a softer pencil and give it a brighter outline. You may change the grip because you're going to work in a narrow range here and here, too. We've constructed the first square. I am marking all the points where the lines cross. Now I am going to project the square to a vanishing point. Imagine that this square is a wall in front of you. And if the wall was long enough on the right on the left, upwards and downwards, it would become a dot when it reached the horizon. So you're standing in front of a wall, you turn right and observe the wall, gradually diminished and disappear somewhere towards the horizon. Try to keep the symmetry. The line here is a little too high, so I am making it exactly like the line below. I am doing the same here. I am projecting the line, even take measurements at more or less equal intervals from the center. The one here is narrower, so ill try to make it the same ill draw the lines lower here. Giller, OSHA I keep the top line here theocracy of this whole exercise and consequently, the development of your visual thinking. No, it's natural. We should depends on how accurate you've been up to this step. Resorting over machine. Yeah, that's how the wall would diminish to the right into the left. Now I need to do the same upwards and downwards. Imagine this is a lift that can go up and at some point will go far enough to become just a dot Portugal you need and it will also happen below draw the same in your A to you're late in this way for matter are divided. Now I am checking the to lengths. It's more or less correct. OK, let's go on now. Next thing you do you mark any length trying to make it more than 1/2. I mean more than 1/2 of the edge right here and you cross it with a vertical line. Check the dimensions. They should be the same both top and bottom. Be precise when you mark the points where the lines cross. Now look, you measure this length market over here and cross it with a simple vertical line for a story. Vertical Nalini, You do the same upwards and downwards union and you draw a line across. I've noticed the edges here are not equal. The line is probably not quite straight truth there it needs adjusting a little. Now the next measurement is about 1.5. You divided down the middle and mark the length here, here, here or in the center. And here let me remind you once again 1.5 the edges, the length you mark here You draw a line across here, here, here, in here. So the square removed along the track to the right, up and down And now we see it in perspective. But I see these air the reference points here I confined the diagonals and here this is the same square that moved here all the time. Check that the dimensions are identical. Correct the drawing. If your hand faltered somewhere here, for example, will move the vertical line a little to the left to match the point where the diagonals cross Anil, erase everything irrelevant Everything that is in the way ill clean the line and will bring the drawing forward with a soft pencil. Try to make this square brighter. You may want to put a little more pressure to the pencil. As for the squares that moved away there now farther from the center. So well, give less graphite here. We want presses hard. And here now I've got five squares, one at the front and four others at equal distance from the central one. I will now build up the central square to make a que bill draw the back side. Look, I am going to divide the edge here. Down the middle. Still here and here. Bring here ill check that the haves are equal, All four of them. I am correcting this one, and only after that I am drawing another square inside. It's a regular square that has its angles resting on the diagonals. Theano eagles should be placed on the diagonal lines and I'm mark points here. Now we've got a cube that we can look inside as if it were a box and we can see its bottom . That's it. And if we've managed to draw the Central Cube, we shall make the lateral cubes to How do we proceed? Best mandate is not Shelagh. Guards do. First look. I am drawing a line between each of the points or angles of the lateral square in the center of our universe. As it were, I do the same here. Been here and, of course, above, below it and on the left. Now what remains is to move the bottom side to the lateral cubes. Same as before. Look closely Now. I make a projection of the side directing the lines towards the vanishing point, meaning it moves towards the vanishing point to and leaves the construction lines behind. He'll make this line a little more definite, and this is how I get the crossing points with the edges receding into our universe. Syrian Lee see one line tests the other. I can see if the line is straight after I have drawn other lines. Now I've got a cube that has a front lateral and backsides. We'll make it a little more distinct so that you can see it well. I am using a soft pencil to bring forward the edges. I am marking the angles, but consider that the cubes air parallel to each other. This cube is parallel to this one. And the lines of their sides, which are also parallel, converge at the vanishing point on the horizon line right in the center of the drawing. You can do the same with the remaining cubes. Yeah, Apasco venues. I bring down the construction lines of the backside until they meet the vanishing point. Don't you? Good on you and I get crossing points here, here. And same is with this cube. Theo edges cross somewhere around this area. Now you can do a test. You can measure the distance to the back side in check. If it's the same everywhere, it's correct. Here. Now let's reach the farther point here. We missed a little. It means we need to check. Probably the receding lines air. Not precisely identical. I move it here and here. I correct it. You need to get the cubes in perfect symmetry. And in this case, one cube tests the other. You may move all intervals from their here upwards into the left. You would be left. I erase everything that needed correction. That happens all the time. In drawing. If you notice, you need to fix something, do it right there and then correct all the mistakes. Now look, the line receipts crosses the lateral edges and continues But the video. But he put it over there. All the crossing points air found and I'm a secure the drawing with a soft pencil. I was here. I make all the edges more marked than the construction lines. We don't erase the construction lines, they're part of the space. And they are also the purpose of the drawing Now, surely so, look, I use four b pencils, the softest, so that you could see well, when you watch this video, shall we looked at a shredded. Now you can actually take a to B pencil. Now, here's a cube that is symmetrical to the 2nd 1 Pier one, Castro in the and now ill. Quickly finish constructing the above in the left ones. - This line is also a little inflated ill move it closer to the center central to get the correct crossing point here. Everything's in place. Always keep the drawing clean and improved the precision. Now I've got lines. Yeah, converging here and I find this edge here. This line needs fixing a little already so rich right here they cross and I make is many. Corrections is necessary to make a perfect drawing. But now I can take a soft pencil. But there's Dutch well and approved this square in the Cube quadratic group said Mr and this last edge Here I mark all the points once again fix your remember that constructive drawing. His lines and points points are the key stations. We check the dimensions between them and the last one. I draw projection of the edge here and down here, and I get correct crossing points at once. I mark the points to finish the drawing. I've got five identical cubes. Demonstrate the space. The distance between the cubes is the same. Check the dimensions once again. For example, I see the length here is not quite what it should be, and I fix it. Don't skip falls if you find one always corrected at once. Keep the construction lines, erase Onley irrelevant things, reach with the eraser and clean the drawing. It should be clear to you in the first place. You should understand where each line goes, where they cross and why it happens, but you might dislike This is the first part of the exercise. If you have finished your drawing, it's time for a cup of tea and some rest so that the information settles inside your mind.
3. Universal Perspective. The second part: Okay, I hope you've rested now. You can truly appreciate the harmony of this construction. I know it's not an easy task to direct. All the lines to the vanishing points, however, tried to do it. Try to figure it out scrupulously. Use measurements to help you do the exercise carefully. Now you've got, I hope, the cubes way we can develop this space even more. These air parallel cubes and we're going to draw another four cubes in the corners. They're also going to be parallel. All in all, well have nine parallel cubes that are at the same angle to each other. You see Chelsea, uh, now I am going to use the lateral cubes to construct the ones in the corners. To do that, I need to continue. The diagonals will face the paper to do it correctly. It is so cool. That was delicate touch. Now what? I take out the diagonal as far as possible E for, and it is meant to arrive right into the corner of your square sheet of paper. Obviously called, the rhythm should touch. If you have a square sheet, diagonal line should arrive right here. Doesn't dig another pretty you look do the same thing upwards here and here. Diagonal lines should be correctly found. They should be straight in in symmetry because they'll help you in this drawing later. A soon as you've drawn them. Take another break, duck. Now, um, to get the cubes. Look what I am doing. But your story dealer? Yeah. I project the cube on the left so that it recedes towards the vanishing point above Like that. And the farther part two chest you with the cube above. I am doing the same in relation to the vanishing point on the left and when I do it. Look, I already used the crossing point on the diagonal line as a reference. So the line should pass through the point where the diagonal line in the vanishing line of the Left Cube cross. Same thing here. As you see, I am aiming at this point here. The line is really sloping here, Richard. That's the diagonal line. And it has those two points on it. Make sure it's correct. If it's not, you'll have to do it. Once again, three lines cross here in here, almost as if the side of the cube moved here or it went up in a lift here. Now we can secure the four crossing points ill check this line. Not enough here. So most likely ill move it down a little. The line is not benty. Not right. Here is the point. You two need to check in, try to measure on all sides. And if you can compare this interval with this one, you measure it this and that this year in that and of course here and here The distance should be the same and ill going to check You see how different these are. That means I need to move the point here and probably moved the point down here so that they are in symmetry. I am working on a large sheet of paper and some imperfections might creep in. You said we used to have fallen you more good. Your task will not be that difficult on a smaller size mistakes arm or obvious, and it's easier to correct them. He's made it and I measure once again it'll and add a little down here until theres perfect symmetry. Now I've got a symmetrical square. It's distorted in perspective. However, that's how it should look, let's move to the next step. Yes, I am connecting the angles with the central point. This edge merges with the diagonal line so you needn't dry it. But you've got to drive here, pay attention that in these areas it's the same distance between the line in the lateral cubes. That's important. Check it now you've got the Cube. Cool Bic. Well, not yet, but the outlines air there. And you already have an idea of how it will look now to finish the Cube by Move the inner side, this one right here. And likewise, I move this inner side up until they cross. That's what we've already done with the big ones. We cross them here and we're going to cross the small ones here. Now. It's easier because the line will move close to the vanishing line that we've already got in place with the like that it moves towards the vanishing point. Same with this line, right up to the crossing point with the diagonal right here. Then they move together towards the vanishing point. I marked the point on the diagonal. I've already got three of them on this diagonal line now the inner side. In the same way I move it up in towards the vanishing point for her roof, which is food. And this horizontal one crosses it on the diagonals, moves further, crosses the next one and further on. Look here We have three lines meeting this and that one on the farther edge. The same happened here. Here. They merged on the diagonal. Now I need to outline the cube with a soft pencil. Look at the closer angle that we've got here. I sculpt it carefully to show it. Guys were this'd angle is closest to us. And here the farther edge up to the crossing point. What we get is a very beautiful sort of an epic form. The inside edges farther outside edge video before up to the point. And these two, you can mark them as they're part of the outline. Though I am not putting too much pressure to the pencil because they're very far away. This angle is closer. So ill make it more distinct. Finally, I've got the cube of the third position. It appeared as a result of the two cubes on the left and above, crossing once again bear in mind that they cross on the diagonal that's coming out of the center. You need to do the same with the remaining three e. I strongly recommend, but making the following measurement it will take a longer extender. The interval from the center to the angle was the guy. I mean, you straightaway find the point by measurement. Somewhere around here is the angle. If I moved it here, do the same below I checked the dimensions once again and move the remainder to find the angle correctly. It's going to be here. So three and here I moved the remaining part here. Now it's very easy to follow these points. I can also find this closer angle. Look, I simply move it on the diagonal. It's right here. One of these. I can also take this size, by the way, because the move is uncomfortable and markets somewhere around here. Now I need to follow these points to construct the outer edge for each of the corner cubes . Look, I am bending the line to the vanishing point. Likewise, I passed this point right here. I draw the line here and I passed through the point here we'll check the distance now. This line here doesn't seem bent enough, so I check it. I can move this dimension here. That's correct. And here it should be a little higher receding towards the vanishing point right there. Now I marked the outer side of the corner cube to make it more defined. Get out there with that. As you see the lines air bent a little almost in a semi circle, you mean actually, it's absolutely normal. You may draw a straight square, simply connecting them, but that is not necessary. The distortion is perfectly reasonable in this exercise. Let's move on this point, DiMarco, over there by measurement, which there? I can also move this farther inter point over there, or simply measure the distance between the two and market over there. That's how we found the two inside points. Look, we can now connect the edges and here and now pass through the points. We found this one. There's a mistake there. Let me check it all hot. One second. The line here is higher over there like that. I stand too close to see it. All the same happens here. The line goes up and here, Theo. Entire square has moved to the right and those air the point where the edges cross you would have. Now I define the drawing with a soft pencil thistles. The universal perspective. Exercise difficult but fundamental. It will help you comprehend the space Orient. Take yourself in it. Be able to draw any form inside this space. Visualize the space and inscribed a form within the space will correct this line. The point is a little too low like that. That's how the farther part of the Cuba's forms I marked the closer angle but the soft pencil to make it more prominent and create aerial perspective. Look OK. The cube has moved. Bidding Mr Wilson to the right. Let's build the two cubes below. I want to double check this point. It's a bit too far, you see. Did you clean your first? The line is not quite even. I move it. Just be careful not to lose the diagonal. Taking care of it. I double checked the dimensions. See, it might be a little lower. I mean higher like that. Finding a new point to keep symmetry, I send the lateral edges to the vanishing point at once each time hitting the crossing point on the diagonal area. And here now what remains is to connect the angles with the center. As you see, I acted in a different order to construct this cube. I want to be more precise here. This line is still to be found. What? Okay, Now they converge in one point one line always tests the other and drops you a hint where you should change the bend in a minute. Ill correct one of them now Quickly enough. We've got another cube. It's symmetrical, just like all its friends. A soft pencil in some or definition closer edges. Farther edges. Same thing here. Use and the inner part. Don't forget, do draw a transparent cube. - Excellent . Just one last cube remains. The points are already there, so it's going to be easy. I crossed them. You might want to measure this interval to check. It's not quite the same here, so you need to move the point a little. Let's take it from there. Yes, it's identical at once. I move this one a little further and I find the angle market and build up the square. Now let's do it this way. Connect the angles on project the inner edges of the cube on the left, to the horizon. And if the cube above, until we cross you see this one, we get right away. This one is almost where it should be. Well, make this line a little less distorted. I immediately mark the points we found here, too. We've hit the triple crossing points straight away. This one needs correcting a little notion of the footage. The line bent and stood in the way. Now we found the point correctly. If you manage to do this exercise in one session without a break, you may be very proud of yourself. For a beginner. It's certainly is big work, big intellectual work. You might have to do it all over again several times, such as the case, usually among my students of the online course. Many takes several attempts at it, doing it over and over. That's normal. Good new is that you develop your spatial thinking, so don't abandon it. All the points should be in their place, and eventually there should be harmony and symmetry. I am defining the last Cube to do that. I will even sharpen the graphite. Refute. Do you really? I find the closer angle and start with it. I outlined the Cube. My friends do watch this video several times until you manage to draw it all correctly. And Eddie, so much so critical. All the instructions you need are there. We've got this model quite well. Don't try to pull any lineup or break any line. You may move a line, but do not attempt curving it. They should be even everywhere in the inner area of the Cube. I secure it with points. Remember? I doubted this point. I am not going to leave it. But I want go to bed until I fix it. I want to move it a little. I measure the interval again in market here I move it about two millimeters, mostly it over. After that, a good thing to do is to check the dimensions, all the dimensions you confined a little higher here. I think this point is a bit higher. I will bring it down a bit. I will try to make it more accurate. More or less like this. Within normal limits. See quite a fault here. We mostly schist in there. Ill check here. Oh, these should anti be the same. These air the same. And I double check these. Yes, quite accurate. Good. Yes, good A little. Not more than a millimeter. Let's leave it. And after we examined the construction, it's balanced and symmetrical. I snt distorted in any place. Nothing sort of disturbs your eye. You've got it right. Take a softer pencil and define the closer edges even more. For instance, the central square that we started with his closest to us. You know, it's a some bullish name. Therefore, we markets edges more than the others. Intense units and tequila, but again way strive to understand the thickness of the line. The space within the drawing from this point from the thickest end, the edges going to diminish and will lose about half of its thickness security. This square is going to be marked a bit more than the lateral one. The's edges air quite marked, but less than the ones in the center. Check everywhere. If you condemn unstrapped the aerial perspective, do it as well as you can. In this particular drawing. These points are going to be the least perceptible by the way I forgot to draw an edge here , check everything. The edge is going to be defined more than the construction lines, but less than the closer edges. Let's mark the central ones even more now. We've completed the first part of the exercise. There's a second part we haven't finished yet. We shall inscribe circles inside the cubes. For now, these nine cubes make up a well formed skeleton for our space. Practice it over and over again until you do it perfectly well. Good luck.
4. Universal Perspective. The third part: Now, my friends, let's move to the second part of the exercise way shall inscribe circles to show how the perspective distorts them in different areas of the space. I want you to check one additional time if the forms you've drawn look like cures. For thing is, it all depends on the central cubes in her side. If it's drawn to high, there's some risk that the lateral cube will result too deep and the opposite. If it's too low, the cube might turn out narrow. If that happens, most probably, it would be impossible to inscribe a circle in its side. Check if the lateral and corner cubes look like riel cubes that they're well proportioned that they resemble cubes. In my drawing, for instance, this cube might have been a couple of millimeters shorter. More God with you. It's not critical, Not very grave. Check you drawing though the position of this very side Virginia good. We start inscribing circles in all visible size way. Want to do that with the inner sides? That would be too confusing. Let's start with the front side Justus. We did before when we constructed a circle in perspective for the first time. Remember that we take the length of the radius market on the diagonal and secure it with a point, as you see through the two dimensional picture will create the three dimensional one. In other words, it will be projected into the three dimensional space. I marked the four points After that I checked the intervals to make sure they are equal just a year and yesterday will arrive in them even if they seem equal to measure that now we've got eight points. Chitty in the Holy It, sir. Four of them are on the center points of the edges. Right where the circle is going to touch the side of the cube. Thea other four on the diagonals. An idea Getting the idea. When you've checked and approved all the eight points you draw the circle. Remember, you do it first, passing through the points, meaning you don't go from point to point With your pencil, you cross it at a right angle first with short strokes to avoid making a mistake in damaging the circle you may take the pencil is is convenient. You cross carefully. Then gradually you build up the connections. I mean you don't draw anything Freehand, you trace it carefully. Remember that metaphor. An artist is like someone entering a dark room and feeling with his hands to make a step forward like that. The circle builds up. The central one is the most important. Do you make sure it's drawn well in symmetrical and check it? It should be constructed. Now it's It's right in its place comfortably. If you rely on measurements, you just cannot go wrong because you check everything and all you do in your drawing is justified. Yeah, I will use a soft pencil to define. The drawing will take a step back to examine in at a distance, and then I market once more, which new? This circle is closest to US nationalism, so there's little danger of making it to dark. But still, of course, I am careful. I've sharpened the pencil beforehand. You didn't report? A. The line I draw is very contrasting, though very solid. The pencil. I uses four B on a smaller format. A well sharpened to be will be quite enough. The circle. My task is same as what I did with the cubes to move this circle. God brought them here first I do it in the horizontal plane. Get his Internet post. Christian. Remember me drawing diagonals here? You're gonna I am going to need them now because as before, I will draw circles resting on the eight points. It's done really well. I go across here, it merges with the horizon line and I am marking the points. How do I find the remaining points? I build connections between them and I send a vanishing line. The rich asshole death in the same perspective that controls the queue, See across the diagonals here and here the same thing below. I've got the eight points. I construct a circle here. - The circle is somewhat too wide. Let me check. These points here should be a little lower, more or less like that. With such hyperbole ized perspective, it's very likely you might need revisions of some sort. The Chechnya like that. What interests me now is the lateral side. Look, I am finding the point where the vanishing line in the edge cross and I project lines from these points. Be careful not to confuse them with the ones on the diagonals to the center of the universe . Next I draw diagonal lines. Dear Gun Rd. To find the center, this'll line merges with the horizon line, and I draw a plane vertical line through the center to reach the upper and lower edges. Divide them into equal parts in perspective. Therefore, this part is going to be longer and the farther one shorter Theo, eight. Crossing points air there. I only need to connect them. This part of the work is easy. Constructing a circle is easy. This form is a circle in perspective, as a matter of fact, and the perspective is exaggerated. For that reason, the distortion is quite large. This point a little higher to needs correcting bitch. The circle is, of course, testing the cube you've constructed because you can usually see right away if the circle is symmetrical or not, this line needs adjusting a little notion. They kidding you and that. Gosh, it's sometimes it seems quite right, but a single millimetre can distort a circle that Oprah's Nina. This exercise is methodical and slow. New Boonstra. Its purpose is to rewrite the concept of the three dimensional space in your subconscious. You're still appears on the in other words, to put it on the right track. Everything we do now is being perceived and rearranged in your mind. Any skill we achieve as human beings has formed out of simple action sequences. When you learn to walk, you first take steps, exerting certain muscles. Sometimes you need to consciously control your actions, or when you learn to drive, you need to watch the mirror shift gears, press the pedals, turn the wheel. Ah, whole Siris of various actions combined to create the driving skill in the same way our concept of the three dimensional space is formed. We retain the experience we get from various random activities, and if we need to change that skill, we need to split it into sets of actions again, Then work each set separately and eventually rewrite it all in your subconscious. That's the purpose of analyzing each point. We're working our way. Never again to think, as we used to, to form the right thinking harmonious and symmetrical Nick adultery. Numerous Lige property is anymore to be able to construct harmonious and symmetrical forms without distortion, without mistakes. For my pretty surviving is throwing the symmetry Chimborazo shoe book business Casuarina. Okay, It's easy here. We do the same. On the left, I find eight points. I moved. I am going to apply the experience I got when drawing that circle. It turned out a little bloated. The Rose and I will try to move the points a little closer to the center. I mean, it's not that I will try. It's what should be done. I must pay attention to that nuance. I have a new ones. Here are the eight points that must be connected. Let's see how we manage at this time. See, the circle looks more like a circle. Bullshit question like Cruz n'est That means I am going to go back there and correct it will try to move the points. Another millimeter towards the inside. The's minor distortions air powerful enough to make you lose the likeness when you draw a portrait. But but the party it was towards the Ow! What is with the Children? One millimeter mistake can make a man out of a woman a woman out of a man. Extension of motion. Genske party with more square if you add to the chin, for instance, or make the brow ridges wider. Okay, we've now got a circle. That is, if I can put it that way more round than the 1st 1 In drawing, one might often remember the Russian saying The first pancake is always lumpy. In our case, the first cube, The first circle is always bad. The circle our first pancake looks somewhat like a cube. We shall correct it later. The diagonals on the lateral side You be in a hurry. When you do this exercise, do it thoroughly. That will win you time later when you draw something fair. Copy as it were. It's really so much thought there or when your commission to draw something. Don't try to save time or effort in the exercise. Do it Well, let me remind you that these points are on the edge here. Be careful when you find them. It's not from these points. I am sending the line to the center, but from the ones on the edge of the cube. The closer edge. Now I can connect them with the center. I find crossing points on the diagonals. Me, I connect when you draw. Concentration matters a lot, probably in any activity. Concentration is the key to success. Your poem, you cook naturally media. I remember I once learned to win in chess. I knew the rules. Of course I could play, but I didn't win a lot. Then one day someone explained me that what you need most is concentration. You simply must think several moves ahead. You must calculate the outcomes of each move. Work out as many scenarios as possible. I started thinking ahead patiently. You probably want, Believe me, my opponent could play on the same level as myself. After I started to use calculation faithfully, I won 20 games in a row. It was a wager. Concentration is the key. How long you can keep it? Are you patient enough to complete the work? Putin is terrible if you make one mistake. If there is some slight inaccuracy, the whole construction may collapse. For that reason, don't rush. Check everything. I correct the aerial perspective. I emphasize the closer part of the circle. And here, of course, to you might have noticed I didn't do that for the circle on the right because I wasn't sure it's ideal. At some point, it might seem that drawing is very difficult because you have to be so meticulous about it , you might say I am not that kind of person. I can't do such small things. No, there is here. My but my friends, there is a common strategy to being efficient and successful. Believe me, these qualities will serve you not only in drawing when you develop your drawing skills, you develop your personality. I've always said drawing is development. First and foremost, all these constructions test you. They test how ordered your thinking is they test your character. I moved the points because it matters to me. I don't want this form to be distorted. It's exciting yet cooking with the And speaking of it, I don't mean perfectionism or fastidiousness about the drawing I used. But fastidiousness about the idea and my ambition is to uncover the essence of the construction, to make it perfectly precise. Everything. You can't do it. Once you can do step by step, you pretty good. Great disappear. Don't overwork yourself while in the process, because if you do, it might kill your enthusiasm. It's especially true with Children when they come to learn drawing. It's important to motivate but not overload them. I need you to grease it. I am sure you are grown up and reasonable about that. You understand why you do this? Why? You work that hard? You know there is not a way faster than this one. This course you're doing now is very condensed. Yes, it will you But some of the school NATO try to book a D me in an art academy. A drawing course may span four or five years. Should we needed the P. I live all right. It's no students spend loads of time in front of the easel. This course here is very condensed and it will require that you practice a lot. His desire discuss of its summer suit. What you get here is the gist. The principles. The rest must be added to the drawings by yourself. Eventually you will develop your own technique is an artist. When you start drawing with pleasure, time will fly. But that I was the with the razor Schwartz. But to make sure it happens, you must wants to these important basic exercises coverage the very song here. It's often said you can't be taught drawing, but you can learn. Of course, someone can show you the right way to do this or that toe. Learn. However, you need to analyze, study and get the essence of everything yourself. You must change yourself through these exercises to learn to draw means to change and develop your thinking. Okay, the top cubes we already have. The diagonals will pick up the pace. Now il draw diagonals. Yeah, good that once here in here, it's difficult to draw at the bottom of the paper. However, it's just a pretext. You must simply do it. That's all. The central line here is not right. Remember we corrected it in the first part. Will try to do it once more. The diagonal line. If the centers do not merge, then it's probably not quite even. You should check everything and you probably guess how it is to be done. You figured it out and can do it yourself. We move lines up reading you and down we found the crossing points. She have wish him all eight of them at once. I never did. And here, - in short, let me remind you once again we find the crossing points on the edges. Would you? This is the line that crosses the edge and recedes towards the vanishing point. We draw a line between this point in the center. The same thing below way marked the crossing points. Maybe so. Chechnya, We connect them. - And here and we make the aerial perspective more obvious. Using a soft pencil. Don't confuse the pencils. The brightness reduces with distance. Excellent. If you've come to this stage, congratulate yourself. If it works out correctly, have a break. You've earned it. Then we shall move to the lateral cubes.
5. Universal Perspective. The fourth part: excellent, my friends, Let's move on. What remains to be done now is the most satisfying thing. The circles that will be visibly distorted in perspective. I draw the diagonals is before now it's easier. Mind that I can curve the line a little, just like I did for the lateral sides. Look at the place food. It's not Booker with Tanya. Mention yields. Let's do easier things. First the circles that arm or accessible second business got reward shut created. I find the center It was here you are now Look, I moved the center of the upper cube connected with the one in the corner and find the crossing points. So go away, police. Virginia. I do the same from the lateral one upwards Book a war. Now the four points are there. We need the four on the diagonals. I moved them up. It's my through the any political and I look for the crossing points on the diagonals. This fortune Briscoe mania. I do the same here. Here. The line comes very close to the farther edge. I hold on to it as it were. Build the line and find the crossing points. Now look the eight points demonstrate a significant distortion of the circle To inscribe it here, I need to reconcile myself to the fact that the circle is tilted like going in there. This point should be a little further. I find it once more here. 1,000,000,000 Pleasure. You What dish? I adjust the line like that. The circle is that quite a significant angle? - Idols . I am going to check it again, shooting uniquely Portugal through the summer. Giller It's tilted somewhat too much Here I repeat the same with the bottom side. It's I draw the diagonals and the lateral one. They're absolutely symmetrical people. And look, I find the center. I passed through the point where the diagonals cross and go away to the vanishing point. Those are some ways in these beating the hood it sir. Same here. Remember, the center has found once more and I need to draw the line through the point where the diagonals cross into the center of the universe. Not sure it's a bit of still utility to you now. What remains is to find these air shared points. The four additional points dedication is not, but first I need a horizontal line here this clean? Yeah. The line crosses the edge here in here. Do you use in the problem center and I send it to the center here and over here? Yes. And I find the additional four crossing points. I connect them and get the circle distorted in perspective. It's picked you this point. Here is a little lower. Don't be surprised that this circle is so much more distorted. It's completely normal for an exaggerated perspective. Observed the diagonal distortion. I do the same on the lateral side. Look from over here I go up, the new my severe until I crossed the edge Thin the diagonal, the other diagonal and further upwards. Search dogs, I repeated here. I haven't divided the lateral side down the middle, so I am doing it now. I construct the line so that it arrives at the center. Chile is pretty genius. I go through the crossing point, correcting it a little like this with dust and on the farther edge I find the point where it touches the circle. 38 points, air found. Let's connect them now. We've got another circle distorted in perspective. It's closer. Part is bigger and the farther part is smaller Samos here. It's also tilted a bit. This is exactly what we observe in the rial space. Now it's time we outlined the drawing with a soft pencil. If you grasped the essence, you'll do this exercise quickly. Of course, a lot now depends on how balanced the construction is. You've been doing up to this point. Honestly, few of my students conduce this exercise on the first try. Although there have been some Pura Raza, nobody in the queue. No, no more often you started all over to achieve a more precise and neat drawing distant earlier. Some succeeded on the second or the third try some on the fifth or even the six. There have been such cases. What matters most is not to draw, but to figure it out and put it all in order. Put your inner world in order. Bearable Global coop. The first corner cube has been finished. Now we move the circles onto the other corner cubes in a similar way. It may so happen that one of the cubes is deformed. Sometimes there is something inside us that just locks and some part or angle of the drawing wouldn't come off. Well, try turning the paper or use measurements to solve that problem. But eventually you need to put all the corners of your subconscious in order. You might find that your posture has become more upright after you have done it. You might feel a little better, a little healthier. The flow of the energy inside you might become easier. Okay, let me take a hard pencil and go on that you will correct the diagonal a little. I draw all the lines in a system, working with all the remaining cubes at once. I've never know everything. - I move the center. You can see well that the position of the points of the corner cubes depends on how precise you have been finding them here. They said that the quiz throw in a corrective you've still is a must, so it's a harmonious whole where everything is interrelated. And if there's a weak link, a deformed que it can bring about a D formation of the whole. For that reason, tried to be attentive every time Lena here we should distort the line a little to find the point correctly. In 80 the Rose and straight away Over here, I will finish the other ones to save time. So the lines that make up this space cross each other and reveal the cubes. You must understand that the cubes air part of the space, historical witnesses nature as soon as you realize that nothing will hinder you when you intertwined the lines and the cubes will seem to appear on their own. And the circles, too. Yes, we would use it here. If there is a preconception that you keep inside your head of what a cube should look like and you try to draw it from memory, you inevitably take it out of this space. This point here in this and this and this one, the connections between them create these forms. When you've drawn a single cube, you can read the whole space. Brodsky has some very good lines about that, with numerous 60 foot very in you. In one of his poems, he says, the thing is the space beyond which there is no thing. It's exactly about our exercise here thing can't stand or be on the move. It's absurd to think the thing is the space beyond which there is no thing. Consider this. Okay. Now the last cube where I find the central points. Wait, this is not quite correct. The line should be curved. And the point readjusted beauty in 82 which co Secretary Sawyer. So when you draw things, you actually draw the space and sculpt the things out of this face. You identify the boundaries between the space and the things. That's the philosophy behind this exercise. When the space and the thing become a whole, the drawing will be balanced. Mistakes will disappear. Medium machine mistakes always happen when this realistic principle is disregarded. When the thing I snt connected to the space but has drawn separately, one must realize the fact and connect them that the Jaresko Tory urinal Egypt. This is probably the way that leads to living in harmony with the universe. When the form and the content match each other, there's probably nothing more beautiful and perfect than this exercise. But you only discover it when you've finished. When you do, you will feel deep satisfaction. You will change a little or quite a bit. All right. The four points on all the cubes air there it took way Now must add the other four on the diagonals. I simply move them as they're already there. I moved them from here. Over here, it's almost the same Here. Compare them. And here, - another lateral circle. Now I find the crossing points here usually pretty see Chechnya. And here, ill check once again where it should be. Right here I connect the edges, crossing the diagonals and moving to the center at the same time. I finish this side too. You can actually move this way up to connect the inside points of the circle and find the crossing points on the edge. It all should combine to make a whole Is this you know, those nest leisure was this? Four points more and we connect them as if it were a constellation. And here, while we are here, there's one central point missing on the edge. We find additional points. This line here is corrected. Should be a little further. Let's check here a little lower. It'll move the point with this in short of spitting, they do Here I am going to find and move the point. Even further education. See, the circle doesn't want to fit the side, so we should revise it privilege. It means I curve the line too much. Here I move it again and I find the crossing point on the diagonal even further. I reach here. Now it looks more at home. Now let's check the bottom. Obviously, as the line moved here, the bottom point is going to be lower, which we get amnesia. I erase everything irrelevant. I find it again and draw it once more. April. The circle actually improves the squares, the cubes. It corrects them and reveals the mistakes. At last, the circle is in its place. Don't know. It's a name. Yes, I erase everything unnecessary. And I outlined the drawing. The point is here I confused the line and drew it in the wrong place. Right here in this edge we do. You might get, is it? Be careful as you approach the end. There are many lines in the drawing, and it's easy to mix them up. Used to these, you look good. Parham Message. Check yourself. Got it. It's finally in the place. One more cube and I marched the aerial perspective with a soft pencil making good on this. The closer, the brighter and the same brightness here because the circles air the same distance away. The two bottom ones air left. I move the center. We'll do it like this so you can see Well, I send it towards the vanishing point is this all is well here. All the four points and I move here. These points are close to each other like those and those they almost merged. I connect them the first circle. I find the crossing points on the edges and send the lines towards the center. Eight points more. If you complete this exercise, you may be proud of yourself. Smile everything, extraordinaire. Look how beautiful this circle has turned out. It's simply perfect. Now the left side. You may start here, for example, and reveal the relation. You may continue the line over here at once. You find the crossing point and you can construct it this way. You pass these two points and moved to the center to reach the bottom point. Did you? And here you intersect where you may go through the points here until you cross the edge and send the lines towards the centre. It's also a way to find them kill polish the drawing a little correcting this line and I outlined it with a soft pencil. By the way, this line needs adjusting to this'll . Point is a little too close. The true crossing point is here, so I am correcting this. I think you've noticed the circle is a little too curved. We're gonna wish later in ocean conservative very sooner. That's what constructive drawing is for to leave all the mistakes at this stage before we move further to construct with precision. Good. And the last one. I am quite impatient to finish this work. The crossing points on the diagonals. I already know very well where the points should be close to this angle. The circle is inscribed quickly. The construction is absolutely perfect. And we moved the lateral ones. There's some danger. The point will not be in its place here. If we add precision to this diagonal crossing point is right here, huh? Ex seculars nuts and throw Much need you. And by the way, we need to find central points on the edges. Okay? The eight points are there. Let's connect them quickly. Right here. As you see, we need to move the line a bit and it's really necessary and find the point again into stipulate a business deal with Built in 18. Now the much anticipated last one will use the central point to construct it. I find the crossing points on the edges, the points where the construction lines in the edges cross, and I send the line towards the center of the universe central Syrian. And here it crosses the diagonals right here. You see, this bit is a little less than this one. It means the line should be a little further. As a result, this one will be even further even while we find the position of the points. We already see where we went wrong, the stucco in this booty shorts or somewhere. So we've created a self healing organism. One line suggests where the other one should be. See, a strong constitution can get well on its own squatter camp. It was Sophie with um, Virginia. Much of the philosophy of this exercise is actually relevant to real life. A disease organism destroys itself, always take care. Each element is well constructed. The last circle and absolutely perfect one is inscribed in the side of the Cube. Good article, but and taking a soft pencil and completing the drawing is really satisfying. Usually get over. C'est we were really meal. If there are any elements that you can't get straight that happens, hold it in front of the mirror. Look at its reflection and you'll figure it out. Do look at it from a different point of view from a different angle. Diagnose it in this way. Remember whatever an artist is drawing. He's always drawing himself, so we inevitably end up reflected in the drawing. And if you have any psychological blocks, they'll be visible in the drawing. Make this construction perfect and heal yourself. There is a practice in psychology where a ritual is used to help find a way to the inner psychological world. Taking the cheese cook with very well. So now do its abs. Amos versus Well, did you get skin museum? And while the ritual is performed, it leads to changes in the person's mind You by means of a pony in here. But I swear that this mini in your country in this way, humans air different from animals humans realize and can control their mind healing themselves did he cheat. She was a miss. Fears and everything is interrelated inside in the outer world in between objects and the space of our universe. Okay, friends, if you have come so far and completed this work Congratulations. You really may be proud of yourself if you've managed to get it done and figured out it's a superb exercise. It's actually simple, though it has so many details and needs, so much precision. Still, it's ruled by, obviously a single principle, wonderful in its simplicity. Do it, violet, polish it even it out. Take measurements to help you. The last thing I want to say it that we inscribe the circles to examine the way they tend to be distorted ability to remind their store by media Tebogo CRUISE Next button, you might say mind that when a circle moves up its axis and its diagonal or tilted in perspective, I respect you was making experiment with this. Take a plate or a jar and place it so that you can see the opening three, then lifted up and see how it changes. The same thing happens when you bring it down. It is distorted. The same thing happens when it goes to the right into the left. These parts. It is not necessary to always construct every distortion in a drawing, but you must know how a circle is inclined when you drive, say, for example, you are drawing the wheels of a car knuckle in your If you're looking at them from above, you tilt them like this. This is a truck, you see. It has two wheels in the back, or it may be a bucket or a jar in perspective. It will be distorted like that. The same thing will happen if the car goes up. It's good shit. Wheels will be distorted like this. They won't be vertical. Want beyond the vertical axis. The cardinal. You should get used to it. When you draw, you can make it. If you do this exercise thoroughly, Theo. Only thing that can prevent you from drawing the tilt of the circle correctly is when the cube I snt deep enough. I think the Cuba's to narrow the circle will fall in the opposite direction, and what you need to demonstrate is that the circles tilt away from the centre above, below and in the horizontal planes to thistles. the basic representation of what you get. Check that you have enough space here. If it's too narrow, the circle will fall like this. That is all friends. Good luck. Do everything thoroughly. Rework your inner self, live happily and in harmony with the universe. And be proud of yourself. If you complete this exercise. Good luck with that.
