You don't have the capacity to learn something new. My name is Francis was I I am a memory and learning expert. I usually work in fringe, ever podcast in French, a YouTube channel in French, website in French, and a few courses in French. But this course, the method I'm going to share with you, became very famous in France. That's why I wanted to translate it into English. I wanted to reach a lot of people because they believe in this method. I believe it can help you achieve your learning goals. There is a major problem now, everything changed every day. The technologies, how we live, our, we walk in, we seen change. But only one thing never changed. You know, what? Is it? A learning? We learn the same way as our ancestor around 10 thousand years ago. And that is a big problem. We have access in one day tomorrow information that our grandparents had access almost all their life. So that's why you can't use the same techniques that your grandparents used to learn something to the end, that's what you will learn in this course. You will learn how to learn how to boost your memory and out to acquire a new skill 10 times faster. This is not a magic pills. I don't believe in talent and magic pills. So that's why you have attached to this course, the logbook. The logbook will help you to practice and use everything you will learn in this course to something you actually want to learn who are learning? I already there you really want to know how to get a new skill 10 times faster. So see you in the next video. 3. Overcome the 5 Learning Obstacles : In this new video, we will get rid of all the myth, the cliche, and everything that slow down the process of learning a new thing. Sometime when I'm with my friends, when I meet people, I'm very surprised. Everybody seems to know what learning means. Everybody thinks they know how to learn. But in fact, just if you pick already know how to learn. But that's not their fault for most of the countries. I mean, is the case in France. We never really learned how to learn at school. We have learned that the best way to learn something is just the word learning techniques, repeating in information again and again in your mind to run this. As you certainly know, it doesn't work this way. It's a waste of time and Montel energy. But now we can use anymore the learning strategy of the past, maybe 12 during the past centuries. But now the world is totally different with the rising of new technologies and AI. Every day we have access to more information that our grandparents had access almost older life. We can't use the same techniques, the same strategy that we use to learn 510 information to run more than 1000 and 1000 information that we have access every day. And so that's why we need a new learning strategy. A strategy that can help us navigate between all these information. We needed a new strategy to learn how to learn. And that's what we will see in this course. But before we need to get rid of the obstacle that we can face when we want to learn something new. As you certainly know, there are lots of cliche of myth around learning. And those cliches slow down the process of learning and can demotivate you. So that's why now we will get rid of the main cliche. The most common one is I'm bad at school, Emma, but students, so I can't learn anything. Let me tell you something. I was observing robots, students have struggled a lot to get my degree. I was pretty bad at languages, at silence. I mean, I was pretty better at everything. I couldn't speak English. I couldn't speak any 0's than French. If one day you will tell me that I will speak Russian in English, I would certainly say to you, that's not possible. You were pretty bad at school. It doesn't mean you will be about students all your life. There are too many factor at school that can modify your success, your school, your country, your teacher. And also when we add score, it's where we are teenager for most offers, we have a lot of pollen during this time. We are trying to find ourself and we have a lot of the existential problem, maybe the lack of self-confidence and terminated use cool success, but don't be sad in this course, you will learn how to learn. You will learn to be confident about yourself and your learning capacities. The second one is learning is borrowing. A lot of people, things like learning is boring, foremost decays, as I said before, we never really learned how to learn. We just learn one very boring techniques, The techniques of rote learning. So that's why maybe you are thinking that learning is boring. But if you used a good strategy, if you find something that can motivate you, that can vibrate with you, I'm pretty sure you will find pleasure learning something new. The first one, the first thing that makes learning more difficult. Maybe you think you are already too old to learn something new. Let me tell you something. It's never too late to learn something new. The process of life is learning. You have learned all your life. So why couldn't you learn something new now? And also in muscle of the case, why older people, things that is more difficult to learn it just because sometimes when we are getting older, we have less activities are today seems to be the same. So because of this lake of new activities, new stimulus, the brain starts to be less efficient. But the good news is that there is one solution folder and you know, where is it? Alerting? Learning will train your brain. If you learn something new, you will keep your brain young for a very long time. And the last one is learning these too hard. Let me tell you something. Learning is not hard if you know how to learn. People think that learning something new is art just because of the bad experience of the past. Because again, what foremost offers we have learned at school. But if you have the good strategy, the good techniques, you will find by yourself that you too can learn something new. And that's all the subject of this course. So see you in the next video. 4. Your first Badge: So congratulations, you've finished the first module of this course. You know now what you'll learn in this course and how to use it. So in the next chapter, you will learn how to get ready to get a new skill 10 times faster. Congratulation for that, you get the first batch. See you in the next video. 5. How to find the time to learn (even with a busy schedule): When he talked to the people around me and when I say widen and Julian, something new in most of the case that just tell me and other means of time. I have a full-time job for family and a lot of obese. So how can I find enough time during something you need to add the salt for a very long time. Heifer, I don't have enough time. I can't learn something new because of my schedule. But when they have discovered that this is not real, the lack of time doesn't really exist. Just the Lake of priority and organization are real and learning is not the most time-consuming task. In fact, in Mazda case, you need around 20 hours to learn something new. Of course, it will depend on the subject you are trained to run. But in average, we need 20 hours to learn something. But maybe you thought 20 hours is still a lot of hours. It's a lot of time. I don't have this time, but 20 hours, if we divide it, it's just 15 minutes a day during one month. How many hours do you spend on social media, on YouTube, on TV, or maybe on public transportation? I'm pretty sure is more than 20 hours a month. In his book, Malcolm Gladwell has outliers. The story of success talks about 20 theory. Then after this book, refund node everywhere on the Internet. This is the law of the 10 thousand hours. After having sturdy, a lot of different professionals in their discipline. He found out, in average, we need 10 thousand hours to get a new skill. But while the hotel precise in this book is that you need 10 thousand hours to get a mastery level in your discipline. And that's most of the people talking about this, 10000 our holes forget to mention. So that's why it's very important to make the difference between being an expert and just be competent in your discipline. If you want to be the master of your discipline, the world champion, you will need in average 10 thousand hours. So that's a lot of time. It's eight hour day during 3.5 years, so it's a full job. But instead, if you're like me, you just want to reach the level of competency in your discipline. You really never just need 20 hours, 20 hours, and 50 minutes a day during one month. So compared to these 10 thousand hours, it's a less time. Of course, it always depends on the discipline you are learning. So maybe it won't be 20 hours, maybe it will be 200 hours. But in most of the case, it will be less than the 10 thousand hours world. But some people think that even 20 hours is too much time. So that's why I would like to show you this graphic. A week has 168 hours. In average, we spent 40 hours walking, 56 hours sleeping, 42 hours for different task, family, obese, eating, going, shopping. So in one week, if we believe this graphic, we have 30's, our left. Very interesting because we have seen that in average, we need 20 hours to get a level of competency in a new discipline. So that means that in one week we could be able to learn something new, to get a new skill, to get the level of competency in a new skill. Let's go further. 30 heroes Eric, is 120 hours a month. So it means if you believe this graphic, that in one month we hold out 120 hours a month. And you have seen that in order to get a new skill, to get the level of competency in a new skill, we just need 20 hours and 50 minutes today during one month. So we have Martin that we need to get a new skill. But off course, your schedule is certainly different than this one. I just wanted to show you that we all add available time. So maybe you want to learn a new skill or maybe a new language. Maybe you want to learn French, rule upon the fossae, or maybe you want to get a new skill. I don't know, coding skill or sport skill. Maybe you want to play football or yoga. I don't know. So that's why I would like you to analyze your schedule and to ask you those questions. How do you use this 30s, however, a week available, of what time-consuming activities can you get rid of to make time for learning? We will have time. The leg of time is not real, just the Lake of priority and organization. So that's why in the next videos, we will learn how to optimize and maximize our time for learning. 6. Golden Rule N° 1 The Why: So now you know that you too can find the time to learn something new. But maybe you don't really know how to start. So that's why in this new video, you will learn how to validate your running projects. All the project, all the book, all the art, all the Thing. Winner, dotted with 1 thinking common. Do you know what it is? No. The started from a vision, an idea. Everything recreate, everything we make, everything we do takes root in the form of a vision. So that's why if you want to learn something new, but if you don't want a lost your time and even worse, I'm learning something that you don't really need are maybe something that is a bit superficial is better to start by asking the right questions, by validate your learning project. And that's what we will see in this video. But maybe you asking yourself, why not directly starting by learning how to learn if you have bought discourse is just because you want to learn how to learn why losing our time with this step, it will allow you to avoid one of the main trap when we are learning something. Disrupt is quite simple, is getting in a hurry, starting to learn something without really thinking about it, learning, memorising new information. Practicing MAT really soon we start to lost our motivation and then we abandon this project. So that's why first, we need to really validate your learning project. You need to really know what it will give to you, what you will get from learning this. So far that we will learn one techniques, the technique of the visualization. Don't be afraid, is not a new agey things when I will tell you to close your eyes and think about some money to get some money. But instead, I want you to visualize the skill you want to get, the thing you want to learn. And more importantly, I want you to visualize the benefits you will get from learning the skill. So we'd like you to close your eyes, see yourself as you are right now. Maybe you are in the front of a computer sitting on the chair, or maybe you are on your phone laying under your bed. Visualize yourself now as you are. Then, can you see you in your eyes? Now, I would like you to visualize yourself in the future situation with this new skill. More specifically, I would like you to imagine yourself with the benefits of this new skill. What can you do? Can you make, can you get that you can do right now? Can you visualize this? Now, I would like you to answer this question. Why is this new skills available for me? Why it is so important to me? What can I achieve with this new skill? So now old like you to open your eyes. Take your logbook appended to the page, validate your learning project. Take these spreadsheets on the left side, I would like you to write the reason why to learn this new skill, why to learn this? And on the right side, I would like you to learn the resonant, to not learn this. You can pause the video and take a few seconds the time to write it. Okay, you are done, you know, analyze the spreadsheet. If you have less reason to learn these, that do not learn this, maybe it's better to think to learn something new. And if in the contrary, you are Morrison to learn these than not to learn this, you can go head. So maybe you asking yourself why I gave you this exercise? The reason is very simple. It's a very powerful exercise that will permit you to validate your vision, permits to pet the skill in his contexts. So then you can see if you are really needs to learn. These are not. And there is something fascinating about this exercise. But the visualization exercise is that the nervous system can make the difference between a real thing and an imaginary thing. So your body and your subconscious mind will start the process of learning without you knowing it that you have validated your project. In the next video, we will see how to start this project. 7. Golden Rule N° 2 The What : Now that you know what you want to achieve, my learning this new skill, that you're not the benefits, you can get, the result you want. We will see in this video how to put ourselves in a good direction to be sure to reach our goal. In this video, you will learn how to determinate your goal. As the Chinese philosopher soon to say, if you don't have a goal, you can't score. If you don't write your goal in advance before learning something, you have not finishing line. You don't know in which direction to go. You don't know ONE her fourth, you want to put in this earning a noodle know when you will finish to learn it. That's why it's very important before beginning to write your goal first. But it's not enough to just write what you want to achieve if you want to be sure to start with ALU chances, you need to write your smart goal. A smart goal as, as specific and as measurable. A has ambitious, achievable, are as realistic and T as timely. So let's see all these term. Your goal has to be specific. It has to be done the earth. So for example, if I wanted to learn how to play the piano, instead of just writing Google like learning to play the piano, it has to be done to Earth. Maybe it's better to write and get to play the most popular. Then he has to be measurable. You need to answer this question. How much is better to put some digits in your goal to be very specific and measurable. So instead of say, I just want to learn piano, maybe it's better to write, get to play 80 percent of the most popular hits in the piano. Then here there are two school, your smart goal as to be ambitious or achievable. What I mean by ambitious, it will depends on your character of your personality. I'm ambitious person. So that's why when I went to a smart goal, I want it to be a little more difficult than what a will in fact achieve. So this way, have noticed that when your goal is a bit harder, that one you can't really achieve, you will go further. You want to reach your goal. Mature will go first though, that if the goal was easier to reach, is that make sense? Are you go can be achievable. So it simply means that you can achieve it. So it will depend on you, on your personality and what you want to get from this goal. And then the girl have to be realistic. So what I mean by realistic, it was a bit like this first specify he has to be done to Earth. You have to be sure when you write use model that you can actually achieve it. Don't say if you're on around the piano, I want to play like Mozart or Hirschman enough our shopping. But maybe it's better to say to start by play the Beatles, it's something easier to get n then it has to be timely. So what it means, it has to add the deadline. Instead of having a goal, simply get to play the most popular hits or get to play edu Poissons of the popular hits is better to write something like getting to play every person of popular pedal hits before March 16th bit. We will see this point in nanosphere video. So it will be 0 to understand how to write a smart goal through examples. So let's say I want to learn German. I want to learn to speak German. So instead of having a goal, like speak German, it would be better to transform it into a smart goal. Elijah, being able to hold a 40 minutes conversation in German. If I want to learn to code, instead of having learning a programming language like Java or Python interpreter to other smart goal, like create an iOS game. Instead of just having the goal of learning yoga, it would be better to have to be able to perform the 20 most effective yoga postures. I think you understand and be very specific with your goal in order to achieve it. In the next video, we will see how to optimize our time to achieve this smart goal. 8. Golden Rule N° 3 The When : Now you have validate your vision and you have your smart goal. Congratulations, you are almost ready to get this new skill that you are dreaming up. But before we need two more steps, the best way to achieve something is stupid constraints. It is also true to learning something new. If you want to enrich your smart goal very quickly, you need first to define a deadline. The perception of time is something very weird and we are not all equal with the time. Time is something very complex are to explain at it's very subjective experience. And the perception of time can be modified by external factors as your enviornment, your work, your family, and by internal factors like your mindset, your body, your age. Have noticed something where when I was a child, I felt the time, something very slow. I remember when I was at school, I was looking through the window. I wanted to go out to play with my friends, but the time was too slow. One hour was like one day. One day was like one week. But when they grew up and we'll assumption the time is growing readme, the one getting all. The more time seems to go fast. Maybe you have experienced at the same thing. We are not equal was a perception of time is something very subjective. But why I'm telling you this is something very important to understand and we will use it to optimize our learning. But first, I would like to talk about the Parkinson law, and that's something totally different from the sickness Parkinson. So this law just say that if you put a gas in two different motors with different volumes and the gas will expand to take all the place. So if you put the gas in a small bottle, it will expand to fill all the bottom. If you put the same quantity of gas in a bigger bottle, you will also expand until filling all the bottom. Not the same thing with time. The more half-time demo we take our time. So for instance, if we give it a sentence to two people, if they have to build a wall, we give six our tutor first person to build this one, and we get 12 hours. Could a second person to achieve the same construction? We will notice that the two people will reach the same result, but the second one needed twice Marta in the first one. So that's why if 100 and something faster economy optimize your time, you have to write down a deadline. You have to ask yourself, christian, when, when they want to reach my smart goal. As I said, we work more effectively on constraints. So that's why you have to write your own constraint. How can you do this? That's quite simple. Just write deadline. There is nothing difficult here. Just take your schedule, a calendar entries date, and then if you want, you can take the log book. You can write down here your deadline when you want to reach your smart goal. But be careful, you have to find the right balance between too much time and not enough time. In the next video, you will learn how to write your action plan out to put all the chances on your side to reach your smart goal in a record time, socio. 9. Golden Rule N° 4 The How: Congratulations, you have defined your vision, your smart goal, and your deadline ears. The final step unit in order to learn faster, this step is to define your action plan. You need to answer this simple question. How are you going to reach your smart goal for that unit to create and habit? But before that, I would like to talk about something every time we want earn something, we want to launch a new business. We wanted to do something. Everybody talks about motivation. You have to get motivation. You have to be motivated in order to reach your goal. You have to be motivated all the time. You need to find the motivation in every scene. You have to love everything, you do everything you may, you have to be motivated. This is a big mistake. The motivation unfortunately, is evaluated. It's in Berlin to be motivated when you start to learn something, when you start to doing something new. But I will tell you the truth. You will lose your motivation in Mazda case, you want to keep it until you reach your goal. That's why if you want to be sure to reach your smart goal, don't conduct motivation. It's a mistake. But instead, it's better to have a good strategy. It's better to be an habit. As we have seen, the motivation is very important to start a new project. It will give you the energy and the motivation to go further. But unfortunately, it won't last forever. And in Missouri case, you will lost it before reaching your goal. So that's why it's better to build habits. But what is inhabit anyway? And habit is simply something that you will do every day at the same time, and that will permit you to reach your goal in the long run. This is the most important thing. If you want to learn something, the motivation is not the most important part. You have to create good habits in order to reach your smart goal in autopilot. Because yes, learning something you're in something we do in the long run, in not in the short-run. As the saying says, silver much on the default evil nuclei, the Massu, Massu. If you want to eat an elephant, one bite at a time. Unfortunately, that's the trap I fall in. When I was a student, I had the very bad habits to procrastinate every time I had something to do, something to learn, I said, Okay, so I will do it tomorrow. Today. I'm gonna, I'm gonna go out with my friends, do some fun stuff. But it was very stressful. It was quite difficult to learn in this situation because every time before the exam higher the too much information to learn and unfortunately not enough time to learn everything I wanted to learn. So if you want to learn something, learn a little bit every day. Use a compound effect to acquire a new skill, to learn something new in something you do in the long run. As a cyclist, you can't buy 300 kilometers the first time. You need to train your body mindset to achieve this goal. That the same thing with learning. You can't reach your goal from the day one. You need to get used to. I would like to tell you a story, the story of the factor shovel. The fact they are Chavez was a French postmen that builds an entire hassled by himself just along the castle you see behind him. Do you know how it made it? No, it wasn't a genius. Majestic. He takes his time. You take the time to build it. When he was walking, distributing the post letters, it took every day some stone that you found on the road. After every walking day, it went everything together. It could do stones together. It started by creating the basement of the castle, then the wall, then the castle, then the declaration of the castle until he made architectural should have. So he didn't made it because he put all his energy and effort in producing two years everyone most, just because it takes the timed little bit by little bit. He built this magnificent castle. If you want to learn something, you, you have to use the same strategy. And for that you have to create an habit. How can you create a habit? Repeat an action every day at the fix a time during 21 days. 21 days is the time the scientists found that it's enough to keep the habit in the long run. If your kid this habit for 21 days, there is a big chance that you will keep it forever until reaching your smart goal, that you will do it in autopilot. So to create a habit, you can use this method. The three hard rule. The first R is for reminder, you have to have a remainder that will remind you to do the task. So for that is very simple. You can just put a reminder on your smartphone to remember that everyday at this hour, you will do, you will learn something. The single horror is for rewards. That's very important to keep the motivation every time we achieve a step, every time you go further in your learning, you have to reward yourself. So for that, you can reward yourself every add-on or every week. If you kept these good habits every day when I took able to reward, I don't say buy a new car, IRI, but just do some big pleasure on for you. Maybe buy a new book, go to the movie theatre. If some chocolate. Then the last R is for routine. Do it every day and keep it until 21 days to be sure to keep it for the long run. So to help you to create a good habit, take your logbook and create a special documents a special planning skater has. You see there is many squares, so one squares for one learning session. So I would like you to determinate the number of physician needed to reach your smart goal. If you think Unit 20 sessions to reach your smart goal, then you can draw 20 squares. If you think you need 60 sessions, your smart goal, you can draw 16 squares. Maybe you're asking yourself, how many hours, how many time I need to walk every day. You don't need to around three hours a day, N80 that advise you to do it because it's a very bad habits, but it is better to work a little bit. So what I mean by littleBits, it means in most of the case, 30 to one hour, it's enough to get a new skill in the long-term. So that's why I would like you to try your performance, your session, as you see, there is three, It's myelin. The first one, the herpes virus, does a one if you have learned more than one hour, the neutral smiling does the one. If you learn between 30 minutes to one hour. And then you have the sad smiley that the one if you earn less than 30 minutes, I would like you to write everyday after each learning session, your day performance. For less, quite simple, everyday after each learning session. So if that day you walk less than 30 minutes, just draw a sad smiley. If you learned within 30 to one hour, drawer, neutral Smiley. If you learn more than one hour, draw a happy Smiley. This tool is very simple and very powerful. It will allow you to keep track of your progress and then keep your motivation and the highest level. And also by this simple system, by drawing difference mainly to try to your performance of the day, you will get a recording pleasure. So by using this simple tool, you are sure to use the three-halves. Three-halves our world. You are sure to create a very good habit that will help you to reach your goal in the long run. So now you are ready, you know everything you need to know to learn something you are faster and to be sure to achieve your goal. In the next session, we will see together how to hike any skills. 10. Your Second Badge: Congratulations. Now you 11. The 4 Key Steps to a Successful Learning Experience: Yes, we can learn how we learn. You too can learn how to learn. In fact, learning is a science. So that's been said there are a lot of that has information and a lot of students are on learning. So we will use these studies where we use all this data to boost our learning, to learn how to learn. And that is all the subject of this video. You will learn the science behind learning has already. So let's go maybe you are aware of this curve, the learning curve. It shows the different states involved when you are trained to learn a new thing. There are four phases. The beginner phase, the quick progress phase, plateau, finally, the mastery phase. So the beginner phrase is the most energy consuming phase. You know, when you sell to learn something new, you don't really know the direction you want to take. You don't really know how to learn this. You'll start by buying a lot of books, maybe some video courses. Are you go to a new class. But during this phase, the progress is very slow because you need to build the foundation, the basement to welcome this new skill. Learning is just about one thing to build new neural connections. It's almost the same as when you want to build that house. First unit to build the basement, the foundation, you need to dig the ground. You need to buy a lot of different materials and you need to put everything together in order to start building the wall and then the anterior hours. So here's the same thing. You have to build your mantle basement, you're motel connection. So that's what is every time and energy consuming. But then when you have the best model of your learning, you will notice a great progress phase. Is the phase when everything seems easier, you make a lot of progress very quickly. And you don't need as much energy and time to progress as it was during the beginner phase. Everything seems simpler, lighter, and easier. You have a boost in your motivation. You start to believe in your capacities. You say Me too, I can get this new skill. So now that you have built a foundation in the beginner phase, this is very easy now for you. You just have to put the bricks together in order to build a wall. But very soon you experience a new difficulty. The plateau phase. So the plateau phase is one of the biggest trap when you learn something. It's where a lot of people start giving on the alerting, the plateau phase. It's simply the phase where the progress are very slow, almost unnoticeable. It's also the phase where you can lost your motivation and give your learning. But if you have the good strategy, if you know how to go through this phase, the plateau phase, you will first experience and new happy moment. And this happy moment is the mastery phase. So during the first phase is the beginner phase and the fast progress phase. You have about the base amount and the war. It was an easy, mature male. But now the difficulty is different. The difficulty is more subtle. You watch everything you have built this house met now. You don't really know how to finish this house. What are the stapes, the things needed to finish it? If you have the good strategy that would techniques, you can go through this phase, the plateau phase. And very soon you will experience and you happy moment. The mastery phase. Congratulations, you have been through the major difficulties, is the final step before reaching your goal. The mastery phase and the mastery phases in a little bit like the quick progress phase. Now you have found the final direction to go to reach your goal, sorry, experience again in your motivation. And very soon you will reach your goal, you will get this new skill. So maybe you asking yourself, what do I do when I have reached my goal? You can set a new goal, but maybe if you think it's enough, you can learn something new. What is great is that you can add that the method you will learn in this course to almost erasing, to almost any learning, almost every time, you will find the same curve, the learning curve. So now that you know what is needed to go through the four phases of the learning curve, it will be easier for you to go through any learning. 12. The secret to get a new skills in record time: So now that you know the four steps needed in order to get a new skill, now that you know the learning curve, you will learn in this video how actually we acquire a new skill, how we learn, as I said in the previous video, when we tried to learn something new, it's often very difficult, energy and time-consuming. But the more you go further, the more you have knowledge in the skill you are trained to get, the more is getting easier and easier to acquire new knowledge, to memorize new information, and to assimilate new things could the skill you are trained to get? It's almost like a magnet. The brain doesn't like surprises. The brain likes chocolates. All your life. You have created a library of shock hurts and knowledge from your past experiences, your environment, your interests, and your social life. All of these factors, all these experiences create the person you are. Now. Through these experiences, you have built your framework, your default mode network. This is like your presets that your brain will use when you face a new situation. And the brain doesn't lay surprises, defines it dangerous and not deficient. So that's why when you're facing a striation, the brain will d, into his library of three sets, a framework to find the solution to face distribution. So what's the brain likes? The brain's likes what he knows. That's the main problem. When you want to learn something new. When you only get new skill, most of the time, you don't have the framework to welcome this new skill. You don't have the presets to face this new situation. So that's why it's so time in energy consuming to get a new skill. Because you have to build this farmer in this library of chocolate and presets, you need to build a new farmer and you shock hurts for every new skill you want to get. Here is the key to get a new skill 10 time faster. You will learn in this section how to build a new farmer. You will learn how to build a mental model. So what is a mental model? This is the mental infrastructure, the library of knowledge and chocolates, the foundation that will allow you to acquire new skills effectively. So that's why when you want to learn a new thing, when you want to get a new skill. And you have at the beginning to focus 100% of your energy and effort into building these farmers, these infrastructure in order to welcome the skill you want to get, you have to build the mantel model for the scale. But why is it so important to build a mental model every time you want to run something? Because it creates quickly as solid foundation, a debasement that will welcome all the knowledge needed in order to get this new skill. Because it will give you a global view. Assumption very difficult when you learn a new thing is that we don't know really what we need to learn, what's needed to get this new scale. So if you focus all your energy into building a mental model at the beginning of your learning, you will get a global view of your learning, other skill you wanna get. And that will help you to find the direction to take, to identify the things needed and the material, the resources needed to learn this new skill. And because you have the better phonation, it will help you to have a better and faster progression. So maybe now you're asking yourself, how can I build this library of knowledge? How can I build this mortal model? That's what you will learn in next video. 13. How to learn less and know more?: Before our learning something new unit to build a mental model of the skill you on again. So how to create a mental model? You need to identify the most important things, the most important knowledge, skills, techniques, motor skill that will allow you to reach as fast as possible your goal and take back your smart goal and identify or define needed to reach it as quick as possible. One of our former President, Nicolas Sarkozy, became very famous and unsold became very criticized. Because of it's saying Columbia cruise poor again, you produce walk more to earn more. Everybody seems. And I believe that if you want to earn more unit to walk more, if you want to learn more, you need to put more effort. But that's simply not true. At the beginning of the 20th century, the Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto noticed that 20% of the bean seed makes 80% of the production. From this observation, he developed a theory that say that 20 percent of the Italians population are the owner of 80% of the Italian lands. Sometime later, he called the theory and the Pareto principle. We can find the theory, the Pareto principle everywhere in agriculture where 20 percent of the seeds makes 80% of the production in sport, where 20 percent of the effort May, % of their result in marketing, where 20 percent of the clients, of the customers makes 80% of the cells. The good news is, is that we can find this Pareto Principle also in earning 20 percent of our effort makes 80% of our result. For example, if you are not 2000 of the most common words in English, you will understand 80% of this language. The Pareto Principle is not exponential. So that means that 25 percent of efforts won't make 95 percent of the results, 35 percent effort more worn, give you 5% more for results. Police Yuan understand 95 percent of the English language. You will need at least 4 thousand words. Why this distinction? Because as we have seen, the virtual principle is not exponential. Because the 2000 words that makes 80% of the English language out the most common words. Passing these words, the words starts to become less and less common. So that's why you will need the more words to improve your comprehension skill. So that's very important and that's why I've made the distinction between becoming an expert or just a reaching the level of competency in the skin you wanna get. If you want to be an expert Union, at least to reach 95 percent of those kilowatt again, so far that you need a lot of energy, a lot of effort, and a lot of hours. But instead, if you just want to reach the level of competency in the new schedule on again, you need to reach 80% of the skin and you can do it in a matter of hours, in 20 hours. So that's why I advise you to focus your attention on the 20 percent. The most important things that will allow you to reach 80% of your goal very quickly. Ask yourself this simple question. What are the 20 percent that will allow me to reach 80% of my goal. In the next videos, I will teach you two techniques that will allow you to identify very quickly those 20% 14. How to "Hack" any skills?: So we have seen that in order to get a new skill very quickly, we need to identify the 20 percent that will allow you to reach 80 percent. We want to get, we need to base our learning on the Pareto principle. But maybe now you are asking yourself, how can I identify this 20 percent alkyne, I find it. So that's why in this video I will teach you the first technique that will allow you to find very quickly do is 20 percent. So this technique is the deconstruction techniques made famous by Tim Ferriss in his book for our cook. The principle is quite simple. You have to deconstruct those kill. You wanna get into smaller pieces. You have to keep the most essential things, the most important thing to ritual and get rid of all the things not needed in this deconstruction techniques. The first step is collect. You have to collect different resources. Then you have to compare and analyze these resources. Then you have to identify what are the common information? What things, what knowledge do you find everywhere in our resources? What seems to be present everywhere? Then you have to select the most important thing. You notify the skill that will help you achieve your smart goal. So for example, if I take back my smart goal, Let's say I want to learn to play the piano so much. My smart goal was learning to play 80 percent of football hits before March 16th. I will start by collecting different resources. Maybe I will buy a course, maybe we'll buy some books, and they will watch some YouTube videos. Then I will compare these resources and we analyze everything. And notice that all of these resources are talking about the same thing every time. They are talking about chord, scale and rhythm. So here is the most important thing to learn to play some popular hits very quickly. So I heavy notify that the core skill to learn the piano fast is to learn the main current domain scales and the main rhythms. In fact, 80 percent of the popular, are made of rhythm and simple skills. Thanks to the deconstruction technique, I know now what I need to run first in order to play the piano, in order to reach my goal. 15. How to "Hack" any physical or motor skills?: So the first technique was great to find the 20 percent of almost any skills, mental skill, intellectual skill, and sport skill, the technique I will teach you in this video is better to find a 20% of motor physical skill, like a sport or physical skill. So the principle is the same. You have to read only by very quickly. The 20 percent of this kill. The most important shrinks that will allow you to reach your goal very quickly. So what is this technique, the inversion technique. The first step is simply to take back your smart goal and then we will reverse the results. Ask yourself a simple question, what will happen if everything goes wrong? Then imagine from this reverse results 10 disastrous situation. For each of the situation. Identify a skill that can help you avoid it. So you can take back your logbook, take these spreadsheets, take back your smart goal, reverse the result. Imagine ten disastrous situation, fan 10 solution to avoid these catastrophes. So let's say I want to learn proclaiming what we'll read a 10 disastrous situation I can face. Maybe not being humbled to throw myself into the void properly, to not succeed in getting hate, colliding with a tree or a rock or anosmia para glider for from my park glider lost control, entangle myself and full land on my head. And then too fast and break my leg, land too far from the target, lending a river and drawdown. So, so it's not very reassuring. So now that I have identified ten disastrous situation by inverted the result of a smart goal, I will find 10 solution to avoid this catastrophes, this bad situation for the one, for the two not being able to throw myself into divide properly. So maybe it's better to start by learning how to lift off the ground. Photo. Second one, do not succeed in getting eight. It would be very important to learn how to take head, how to use the wind to take hate, to colliding with a tree, Iraq or Iran or they're packed glider. It will be very important on tour and how to avoid obstacles and to drive myself in different duration. For from my slider, it will be very important to run out, to check my equipment. Loose control. It river important to know how to control my pack glider. Entanglement, sale and full. It will be very important to keep the same taught Lenin my head. It would be better to know the best lending position, long, too fast and break my leg. It will be useful for sure to know to control my speed. Then too far from the target, hurry have to run an outline properly, land in a river and draw down. It would be helpful to know Alto for myself quickly in the case of an accident, a third inversion technique is very helpful to identify the 20 percent of a motor skill or for sport skill or physical skill. 16. Your Third Badge : Congratulations. You now know how to act in a skill. How to identify the 20 percent, the assumption of the skill you want to get in order to reach your goal 10 times faster. So don't forget, if you want to find the essential of a new skill you can use. The inversion techniques are the deconstruction method. It will help you identify the 20 percent needed in order to reach your goal. You get the format of the course. See you in the next chapter. 17. Why you have a Great Memory?: Do you think you have a bad memory? Do you think you are unable to learn something new to reach your goal? I was in the same case when I was a student. I am a pretty bad student. I have a bad memory and I don't have the capacity to learn something new. I don't have the capacity to be successful at school. I didn't believe in myself. Even worse, I didn't believe in my capacities. I was pretty sad at this time. Iso, if you are born was a bad memory. You're going to keep it all your life. There is nothing you can do to change it. But one day, everything changed. While I was shopping in a library. I found out a book, a very interesting book, a book that soon will change my life through this book, he understood that it was not my memory that was bad. But the techniques I use are perhaps the techniques I don't use. I understood that insiders, we have all the capacity to learn new things and we have all the capacity to memorize new things are way faster. But the way we learn at school, this book was Moonwalking with Einstein, joie flower, the art and science of remembering everything. This book was a revelation for me. It tells the story of Joshua fora, the writer of this book is a journalist. In one day you wanted to write an article, but the Memory Championships and the people lead can memorize a lot of information in a record time. So you went to one of the seventh in the US and he started asking the people there how they can make it, how would they can memorize such a big number of information in record time? Why they ever saw great memory when he was enabled to memorize more than 10 digits. But when talking to these people, to this memory champions, yonder sued one thing that we have all the same capacity that we are all able to memorize a lot of things that we don't choose a good techniques. We don't use the good strategies to morays new things and that's the problem. So it started to be passionate about all these techniques, about the art of memory, the art of using your full memory capacity. It started training everyday's and Italian himself to participate in the next US Memory Championships the next year. So he trained himself one-year using those techniques, the art of memory, trying to remembering a lot of information, a lot of datas in a record time. Then you participate to the championships and he wanted, he won the US championship of memory. He became the new US Memory champion. So after reading this book, I started to ask myself if it's guy Isabelle to memorize a lot of information in a record time. Maybe I can use the same techniques to boost my learnings. At this time, I was learning Russian and English, and I was quite struggling with how to memorize new vocabulary. I couldn't remember the Russian worlds I was trying to memorize and do English words, have tried everything but nothing worked. And that's why I started to use all these techniques, these memory techniques, the art of memory and you know what, it worked. I was about to memorize a lot of information in record time, but even better, I understood something, something that soon will change my life, that everyone can memorize everything quickly and effectively if he has the right techniques, strategy, and mindset, I was so passionate about this discovery that I have decided to make my life work. So if you are still thinking that you have a bad memory, let me tell you something. If you have a bad memory, actually is that because your memory is bad? Because you don't use the good techniques. They're good strategy to memorize new information. In fact, just one part of our memory is determinate by some biological factors. Duress is the terminated by no techniques you use by how you memorize new things. That's why in the next video, you will learn how to memorize new things in a record time. You will first learn, oh, memory works out, we memorize. I will give you the techniques and strategy to learn everything away faster. You will learn to memorize the 20 percent of the skill you are trying to learn. But first, we need to understand how the memory works. So see you in the next video. 18. You have more than one memory, how to use them all?: So now that you have understood that you too have a good memory, you too can memorize the new things faster that you think. In this video, we will understand how the memory work. We don't have just one memory, but we have many memories. The short-term memory, also called the working memory. Does the memory you use when you try to remember, for example, your telephone number or the name of a person you just met. In the short-term memory, you can still just a shoe information until seven and in a very short time, 18 seconds, then you have the long-term memory. The memory you use when you learn a new language, when you learn a new skill in this memory, you can start a lot of information. There is no limitation, and you can remember it for a very long period of time. So the process to memorize a new things is quite simple. First, you store it in your short-term memory, and then if you are lucky, maybe you can store it in your long-term memory. If you want to get a new skill, first, you need to identify the 20 percent of this skill. Then you have to transfer it to your short-term memory and then your long-term memory and ears the mistake. A lot of people use a short-term memory as a long-term memory. So what happened in this case, the Forget everything very soon. So we don't want to fall in this trap. To understand how to memorize, we need to understand first out the memory evolve. So the memory evolve a ton of thousands years ago. Paradigm while we need to find resources in order to survive, where we needed to know the geography of our territories, and where we needed to identify the good food from the bad food, enemy, from friends. So the needs of this time determinate the skill we have still today. So that's why until today is very easy for us to memorize visual things like photo, picture, and to memorize location. So we will use these capacities to boost our memory. 19. F.A.V the 3 letters that will help you memorize everything: So we have seen in the previous video that it's easy for us to memorize picture, visual things and location. But the problem is, is that nowadays the informations we tried to remember are not adapted to how our memory rocks. Almost all the information we tried to remember to memorize are boring. They are not color for damages in Mazda case. They are just data digit ward. So that's why it's quite complicated to memorize it. And also, we have no strategy to memorize new things from us offers. We just know the rote learning techniques. Just repeat one conformation again and again and try to remember it. But as you certainly know, he doesn't walk this way. If you actually want to memorize something, you need first to convert all the boring information into something so vivid, colorful, grandiose that it will be hard to forget it. More specifically, you need to use the father method. So what is the fast method? F as focus, a as Association, v as visualization. So what means focus? Focus means that first, if you want to memorize something new, to get back to the present moment and focus your attention on the information you want to memorize. We all think we are doing it. But in fact, most of the time when we try to learn something, when we tried to memorize new information, we are not present in the present moment. So how do we want to run a new things? If you are not aware of it, then you need to associate the unknown with the known memory rocks a little bit later. Spider net, if you want to learn something, if you want to remember something, if you want to memorize something, you need to glue it with the information you already know. So how you can do it? First, you need to analyze, analyze the information you are training to memorize, ask yourself discretions. What does it remember me? What does this information mean to me? Then associate the unknown wisdom known. Associate the information you are training to remember is something you already know. Then link everything together, leading the different elements together in the form of a monastery. In the case of our data is a case of something that is quite difficult to memorize and divided information. Identify a hook, link these hook with something you already know. So let's see some examples in order to understand this technique. So if I take this word, Crypto zoology, the search bar on study of animals whose existence is important, such as the Loch Ness monster on deity. So this word is quite complicated. So we'll start to divide it into two parts, crypto and zoology. And then I will try to associate these two parts with something you already know. So for me, crypto reminds me, the cryptocurrency, the big print, and zoology reminds me pursue. So in order to memorize this word, I will simply visualize a bitcoins in a zoo. So remember this, if you want to memorize new information, first, you need to focus your attention on the information you are training to memorize. Then you need to associate the information with something you already know. And then you need to visualize the information in the form of a vivid mental picture. But the problem is that at school, we learned that in order to learn the new information, we just need to repeat it inside our mind again and again. But it doesn't work. And why it doesn't work is quite simple. Because when you are trying to memorize a new thing by repeating it again and again, you are just using your listening skill. And that's not the most powerful way to learn in your finger. If you really want to memorize new information, humans transform everything with lifeless and boring in a colorful, funny, grandiose, sexual girl mental picture. But what is a mental picture? A mottled picture is the motto representation that you make out of an information. It's like your photo that you take with human eyes and your imagination. For example, tell you a banana. Close your eyes. Can you see inside your head a banana? Can you see is yellow color? If I say to you or chicken, close your eyes again. Can you see inside your head a chicken congratulation? You have all the skills needed to memorize a lot of information in a record time. But if you want to be certain that you will remember for a long period of time, the information you are trained to memorize. You need to associate this model picture to your senses. So again, if I say to you a banana, Can you smell the smell of the banana? Can you see color? Can you feel the test of this banana? So every time you want to memorize any information, start by focus, then associate the unknown with the known. Then visualize this information in the form of a vivid mental picture. That's all you need to memorize any information. 20. How to memorize 80% of your written resources?: Now you know how to memorize a new thing just using the method. Focus, associate and visualize. Most of the time when you want to learn a new skill, you will learn it through video or through texts. So that's why in this video, you will learn how to memorize sentences. So start by focusing your attention on the sentence. Then associate the main element of the sentences, the unknown with the non. Ask yourself, what did remember me? You need to build a mental model of the skill you wanna get in order to create this mottled modern unit to identify the 20 percent, the central information that will help you to achieve your goal. Then when you have identified is 20 percent, you have to memorize them using the techniques I gave you might unfortunately, to memorize new information is not enough. Memorizing a new fingers and medieval master it. In order to master it, you need to put this skill from your memory to your body. You need to assimilate this new knowledge deep inside you and further the practices, the best solution, more specifically, the deliberate practice. So what is the deliberate practice? Deliberate practice means that you will divert the practice was your goal in mind. In each session, you will try to make your step further to your goal is not the number of hours you practice that matters. What matters is how you practice. So you have to take this 20 percent that you have identified using the deconstruction of inversion techniques, memorize them, and then practice those skills and those knowledge. And the scientists behind the 10 thousand hours swirls discovered that the talent doesn't really exist on in the work. The practice is real. So that's why if you want to get a new skill, you need to practice. You need to deliberately practice. The scientists discovered that we retain 10 percent or 20 percent of what we hear, 30% of what we see, 50 percent of what we see and hear, 70% of what we say and write, or an 80% of what we do. So that's why it practices are important, because it will allow you to get the skill you want to get deep inside you. So how the deliberate practice works? First, you have to deconstruct the skill you are learning. Then you have to identify your weaknesses, and then you have to test different approaches and strategies to overcome these weaknesses are so more specifically, you have to take back your smart goal, define what will give you the most results. What will get you closer to your goal? Engage yourself mentally to make a conscious effort to reach your goal and rise the level of difficulty at each practice session. This step is very important because when we get new skill, when you learn something new in the brain likes to transform everything you want to learn into a habit. But ears the trap. Because when you will learn something you very soon, you will start to do the same thing again and again, repeating the same things you know, and you are comfortable with when you learned how to less your shoes. And the beginning, it was very difficult. You have to run all the steps needed in order to place your shoes. But now it's very easy for you can do it almost automatically. I even think about it. So that's why you, if you want to achieve your goal, if you want to deliberately practice, you need to get out of your comfort zone. Keep in mind that the purpose of practice is to make progress here, to try to your performance. At each session, tried your performances. If you do that, you will have a global view of your learning activities. You will notice where you make progress and where are your weaknesses. So this step is or in person too. And then from this step tracking, you have to identify your weaknesses, all the difficulties and obstacles that's loaded on your progress. Then when you have, identify all your weaknesses and difficulties, you have at each sense to engage yourself to overcome these difficulties. A lot of famous people use the deliberate practice to achieve their goal. It was the case for Benjamin Franklin. He used to have struggled to write when he was a child. He was a chain because he made a lot of grammatical mistake and misspelling. So that's why one day it decided that it will overcome these difficulties. He will learn how to write better. For that. It took the best article written by the most famous and best journalist of his time. He compiled them and find out what makes a very good article. So he trained himself again and again until becoming a great whiter. All the best musicians know that in order to get credit reserved Unit 2 practice again and again. For example, if I take two basketball player, the player a and player B. And player a will do 100 shirts and the player B, we'll do 50 shots. The player a has a friend nearby that Triton everything done and track his progress. So if a shoot is too short, it will write it. If your shortest too strong, it will write it. And then you will give feedback to the player. The player B will just shoot again and again. What do you think? Which player will have the most success? Yes. The player a, you have to use the deliberate practice. You have to identify your weaknesses and make a conscious effort to overcome these difficulties in order to reach your goal. 25. Marines set is better to take the time for litter breaks every 25 minutes. If you do that, you will keep your level of focus. You can see the simple techniques or Missouri River, for example, in, in TED Talks, picture of the speaker are often less than 25 minutes. Study during 25 minutes, then take a short break of five minutes, then repeat that four times. So 25-minute learning, five-minute break, 25-minute learning, five-minute break, etc. And then when you have done for repetition of 25 minutes learning five-minute breaks, you can take a longer break until 25 minutes. So in order to use this technique, you can use an alarm clock, your smartphone. And also there are a lot of apps available on the Internet and willing few of the best to the video.
