1. The Secrets Of Routing In Reaper : My name is Fernando at
Delano Williams and I'm here to present to you
the secrets of routing. In Reebok, traditional,
you need one trick to hold the data and you need another trick to output
the audio information. Let's say for example, you are working on a
project that requires 16 channels of midi data. You will need another
16 channels to output that midi
data inflammation. And as a result, you have 32 trig channels just to
output that metadata. And that's a lot of pain
and very, very confusing. In this course, I'll
teach you how to use just one trick to output
your midi information. And once you know this secret, you have it forever. I'll teach you how to do
routing with conduct prayer, as well as the reason for those who are
still using reason, is there sound module? By the end of this course, you'll be able to route
anything in repo with just one trick to output your
midi and audio information. This will not only
help you to get rid of the routing confusion that
we have right here in riba. But it will help
you to get up to speed and awake more efficient. Let's get started with the
secrets of routing in Reaper.
2. Configuring Your Sound card: Okay guys, welcome
back to the course. And in this lecture I am going to be teaching you
how to connect your sound card right here in Reaper so that you can
be able to use it. It will be very frustrating
if you open repo and you double-click to
create a new trick and you try to recall something, then you realize that you're
recording is out of time. And most of the times
your recordings might be out-of-sync just because you are using the wrong sound card. So what we wanna
do is we want to activate our SoundCloud right here in Reaper so
that we can be able to do everything in real time. So to access your sound
card right here in Reaper, you just need to
come here to Options and you go down to
Preferences, alright? Or the other way you could do it is you could come
right here where it's written 44.1
kilohertz, 24-bit wave. So you click right here and you'll get the same
menu, alright? And you want to come
here to the top here, and you can see here is
written audio, alright? And we go something
written device. If you come here
to audio system, you can see we've got
direct sound, alright, so we don't want to use
this because this will actually give us delay
issues right here in Reaper. So you'll want to come here to audio systems and you'll
want to change that. And you'll wanna come right here and you'll want to choose osteo. And you can see now
that we got osteo for all n for this recording, I'm actually using this sound
cadre return hybrid or PAO. And I'm just going
to choose that. And you can see
everything is mapped in the requests sample is
4400, that's quite okay. And the requested
block size is 512. And most of the
times if you hear delays right here in Reaper, it is because of this value. So you just want to
out at this value. So you just divide it by two. And if you divide 512 by two, it will give you 256. Alright? If you're still here,
delays endure a 256. You just have to divide
this value by two again, and that will give you a 128. So I'm just going to keep
it at a value of five. I think that's
quite good enough. So with this set now, I'm just going to come
in here and hit OK. So everything now is set. So I'll see you in
the next lecture and I'm going to
teach you how to add your controller surface or your midi keyboard
right here in repo.
3. Configuring your midi controller: Okay guys, welcome
back to the course and in this lecture I'm
going to show you how to connect your midi keyboard or your midi controller right
here in Reaper. Okay? So if you come here to Options and you can
come to Preferences, you can come here to the
preferences menu, alright? Or the other way you could do
it is you can come here to a region 44.1 kilohertz
24 beat wave. And you're gonna
click right here, and it will give
you the same menu. So if you come here
to meet devices, you can see now, I don't have any
immediate devices. Yeah. So anytime you plug in your USB device or
whatever, it might be, a midi cable right
here in Reaper, you will be able
to, to see it here. So Reaper actually auto
detects your midi device. Alright, so I'm just going to
connect my USB right here. Okay, so I have connected my midi controller
here in Reaper, but it can sit anywhere here. So probably you need
to come here and say reset or midi devices. Alright, then you
can see now that something just happened there and now he's appearing in here. So you can see we
got to meet it in two and we go to
lunch key MK 249. So that's the keyboard
I'm using actually. So it's a mitochondria. So I'm just going to come in here where it's
written this ebbed, and I'm just going to come in
here and say enable input. Alright, probably
I can come in here and say enable input for
control messages as well. So I've enabled two things, have enabled the input
and control surfaces. For this lecture, we're not worried about control surfaces. We just want our midi
keyboard, TOEIC right here. And you can come in
here mid output. Well, we're not worried
too much about that. Alright, so I'm
just going to hit, Apply and hit Okay. Alright, So if I can
come in here and I can say insert visual
instrument or a new trick. And if I can come here and
double-click on conduct, and I can say no to all
this information here. And I can come to you so
that I can be able to see a conduct here and
I can pick anything. Alright, so probably
I pick this, alright, If I can start playing
keys on my keyboard, you can see that if
something getting in here. So if you want to connect
your midi controller, this is how you do it, is very, very simple. So we're going to go ahead and start with the next lesson. Alright.
4. Docking in Reaper: Okay guys, welcome
back to the course. In this lecture,
we're going to be talking about docking in Reaper. Before we can explain
what is ducking, I just want to explain
something very important here. I just want to give
you indication of why docking is very, very important in Reaper. If we can look on our
reaper program here, we can see that we got
this white area here. This white area is called
the Arrange window. So this orange window
is very, very, very, very important because we're
going to be spending 90 to ninety-five percent of our time right here on the orange window. If we want to be
recording vocals, we're going to be recording
all our vocals right here. If we want to be
recording any midi data, we're going to be recording
all our midi data here. If we want to be editing
any video information, we're going to be
editing it right here. This is where we're going to be spending most of our time, since we're going
to be spending most of our time right here
on the Arrange window. We need to make
sure that we make maximum use of our
Arrange window Haynes, the need for dokey. Alright, so what is
docking? Docking? It is a way of arranging
our window panels in such a way that best suits
our waking environment. If you can look down here, you can see that we
go the mixer here. This is called a mixed panel. So I can move this panel
all the way to the top. And if I want to move it down, I can move it down, but it cannot collapse
further than that. We want this orange
window to be running from the top side all the way to
the bottom of the screen. This makes a panel is we can see it's a
problem because it's actually blocking
our range window to go all the way to the bottom. So we need to dog
this mixer panel in a new position for
you to be able to dock. You move your mouse cursor to
waste a written mixer here. And once you are there, you click and hold. You'll click on hoard and never released and move your mouse. So once you begin
to move your mouse, you realize that there's a blue rectangle shape that comes up. And this blue rectangle shape is actually showing
you that you are actually shifting a window
panel to a new position. So what we want to do is we
want to dog our mix-up panel on the extreme left hand
side of our program. So to do that, you just need
to make sure that you move your mouse towards that extreme
way you want to target. So we want a dog it to the left. So we're going to move
this rectangle tool was that once you move it there, you realize that a blue continuous line
would just appear. And that line is
actually saying, Hey, now I'm in a
position to help you dog that window layout
that you are moving. So once you see this
blue continuous line, what you do is you release
your mouse button. You can see the
mixes on this side. Now, before we dock this mix, a panel on the right position, I want you to practice docking. So this time around, we want to try to dog the mixer panel on the
top side of our program. So to do that, you just move your mouse cursor all the way to waste
written mixer here. Then you click and
hold and drag. So you will see now that our blue rectangle
shape if come up. So you'll keep on
moving into coupon, moving it, once you see
that blue continuous line, then you release your
mouse button and now your mix upon is actually dogged on the top
side of your program. So what we want to do is that
we want to dog this mix a panel on the extreme right-hand
side of our program. So to do that, we
click and hold, and we move our mouse towards the right
side of our window. Okay, here we go, Here we go, Here we go, Here we go, Here we go. The ones you see that
blue continuous line, then you release it up there. Now, our mixer panel is now dogged on the right
side of our program. So to create a new trick, why do you just need
to do is you just double-click on our trig panel. Once you double-click,
you create a new trick, you double-click, you
create a new trick. The same applies when you
come to the mixer panel, you can double-click and you
can also create a new trick. And this is one good
thing about Reaper. And the good thing is
that each trick that you create in Reaper can be
used for any purpose. So this trick, you can use
it to record welcomes. You can use it to
record midi data. You can use it to how
the video information. You can use it to hold the JPEG files and all
those kinds of things. That's the good
thing about repo. You just need to tell this
trick what you want it to do. The other thing that we
needed that is very, very important is that we need what we call
the effects browse. For us to get these
effects browser, move your mouse cursor towards what we call
the view menu here. Alright, so you come here to the View menu and
you click, Okay. Then you go down and look forward to call
the effects browser. And you'll see right here, then you click, Okay, you can see that the
effects browser, dog, the cellphone topic, and this is not what we want. So we want to dock it
to the extreme, right? So what you need to do
is you come here with written ethics browser
and you click and hold and move towards
the extreme right? Okay, so once you are there, you realize that next
to the mix icon there, that blue small square that appears in that
shows you that, hey, I'm going to dock it next to
the mixer because the mix has already dog to the
right side, you release it. So we got this ethics browser. The job of the effects
browser is to show you all the plugins that are
installed within your system. So what else do we need? Do we need, what do
we call the trach? Manage? To get the
trach manager. What do we do is we go back to our view menu and we click. Then we go down and
look for trek manager. Here it is. Then we
click so you can see the trig manager's job
done the wrong position. What you need to do is you
come to the Traffic Manager, click and hold and move it
towards the right side. And the ones you see, that small square on
the bottom there, the new release,
then it's already ready to adopt this twig money. Yeah, actually helps
you to take control of all the tricks that
you have right here on the track panel and
on your mixer panel. Let's say for example, you
go to a project that have got 128 tricks, it becomes very, very difficult to
manage such kind of a project without
a trach manage, for example, you might be wondering to edit
just the drums. So the best way to do it is to come to your track
manager in this airbag or the trucks that
you are not using a dull moment and just concentrate on the tricks
that you are using. So to do that, we come here
to the track to track money. Yeah, we got what
we call the TCP. And this is actually controlling all the tricks that are
on the old trick panel. So these are all the
tricks on the trig panel. If I can click this dot, you realize that all
these tricks disappear. But if we can come
to the mix of panel, you can realize that
they're still there. That is because the tricks
on the mixer panels are controlled by this
column here written MCP. So if I can deactivate all these and go back
to my mixer panel, you'll realize that
we've got nothing. We are only left with
the master trick. So that's why the trick
manager does for you. Okay, so we got
our trek manager, we go to our effects
browser ready. We got our mixer panel already. If you close the reaper
and reopen again, you might realize
that they dock in panel that you have set
in place might come back. But in some instances, let's say you are working
with somebody in the studio. He might arrange things. He's only way or your
son might come into the studio and shift
things around, then you say, Oh my goodness, you have to be doing the
job again and again. So there is a way that the reaper team have
put in place for us. And this really helps us to save any ducting layout
that we want to use. So to save our docking layout, you'll go all the way to our
View menu and you'll click. Then you'll come down to is written screen sets and
layout and you click. Then once you click, you get presented by
this window here. If you can look on this
window panel here, you can see that we've
got numbers running from one all the way to ten. So it means that
we got ten slots on which we can save
our docking layouts. Alright, so if you want to save your docking layouts
on slide number ten, you just click on
cell number ten and you'll hit save. You. He said, but we don't
want to save it there. So why do we wanna
do is I want to save this document laid out
on the first slot. So you click on
the first slot and you'll come down here
where it's safe. You'll be presented by
this window panel that says Save Windows
screen set number one. So I said, alright, then I'm going to call
this one midi routine. Again, I'm going to
call it middle routing, and I hit save that. Now you can see that
our media routing configuration has been
saved on the fifth slot. You can save as many ducking
layouts is your end. Okay, Let me just close
this window and let's come to the situation whereby your
son even playing around. So let's say your son actually
put this thing over there, the trig manager
over there. Okay. Then you'll come back and
you'll want to urban reaper. And do I just presented by these screens set
layout and you say, Oh my goodness,
whatever happened. And you be crying and say, Oh no, I have to be doing
this thing all over again. Actually, in a matter of fact, you don't have to be
doing it all over again. What you just need to do
is you go back to View, you go back to screen
sets slash layout, and you click there. Then you realize our middle
routing is two in place, so you just double-click
that and you realize that our docking configuration is
write-back for us to use it. That's it for this lesson. I'll see you in
the next lecture.
5. Setting up Reaper for routing: Okay guys, welcome
back to the course. In this lecture, we're going
to be sitting up Reaper in most situations when you want to recalled meet the inflammation, you have normally two tricks
to control that midi data. Alright, so you'll
have one trick here whereby you can record all
your media information. Then you have another
second trick that will be outputting the audio from the immediate data that
you have on top here. You actually have two tricks, taking care of one Omid data. And this is not
what we are going for in this course,
in this course. So what we are actually
going for is that we want to have one trick where we will
record all our media data. And on the very same trick, but we're going to be outputting the audio information as well. If you've been using studio one, for example, or you are
coming from Pro Tools, you realize that you have got a certain kind
of routing whereby you just have one
tray controlling the midi data into
audio information. This is the kind of
routing that we are going for in this
course, alright? And once we know how to do the routing with
conduct and do it, the reason I tell you
can be able to route any plugin that you have and
do to work well in Reaper, okay, So that's it. But before we can
actually configure that, we need to make sure that some things are taken
care of in Reaper, okay, First things first, what
you need to do is that you need to come here to
the project settings. So you click here. And when you come here, you will be presented by this panel Written
Project Settings. And you can see the first
tab is project settings. The second one is is media. The new good video and advanced. And we got nots,
they tub that we are interested on right now is
this one called advanced. When you come here
to the Advanced tab, what you need to do is
you need to click here with the written allow
feedback in routing. And we are also presented
with a warning and it says can result in
lower performance, loud noises. Alright,
that's okay. We're going to take care
of that in a little while. So you'll come down
here and you say save as D files settings are right. Okay, so that's the first thing. The second thing that
we need to be taken care of, It's under Preferences. So we come here to the
options menu and we click, then we come down here
always written preferences. And as you can see, we are presented with the
Preferences tab. And the thing that
we're interested in in here is something
called rewire. Alright, so to get it to you, just need to come here
to the bottom where we find this search field
and your type rewire. So you type Barry. Why? Do you say find under
the rewire options? You got the first checkbox and is written or
rewind mix a support. They explain and they say
act as a rewind mixer, show you why devices
and plug-in browser. If you uncheck this button, you will not be able to see reason rewire on the
effects browser. So we need to make sure that
this button is checked for us to be able to use a
reason in Reaper again, then we come to the
second option is written auto open panels when
opening RealWear device, what this button
does is when you create a new project or repo, automatically open your
RealWear devices for you. For example, if you're
using reason or repo, automatically open a blank
new region file for you. The problem is, if
you have studied a project and you have saved
the project interlacing, you just want to come
back and add something. Then once you open that
project in Reaper, repo will give you a
new blank reason file. It will not to open the project that you've been working on. So this becomes a problem
because you need to go back to reason and relocate the file
that you've been working on. So it's a two-way process. Again, the best way
is that we need to uncheck this once we
open our HIPAA project, even if it have arisen, rewired to eat a 2-node
to open a reason, then we're going to
open it manually. So the first time we're
going to open it manually, then the second time we're
going to use what we call the rewire
boost up by J punk. I guess this is a very, very powerful Uighur plug-in and it will actually
help Reaper to relocate the actual reason file that we've been working on. Okay, So we're gonna
take a look into that. I'm going to teach you
how to install the plug-in and how to use it
in the coming lectures, you just need to make
sure that this button is checked and this
one is unchecked. Then you say Apply and hit. Okay, so that's it. I'll see you in
the next lecture.
6. Setting up kontakt for routing: Okay guys, welcome
back to the cost. And on this lecture
we're going to be configuring conduct for
media routing in Reaper. For us to be able to
use conduct in repo, we need to add an
instrument trick. So you'll come right here on your trig panel and
you right-click and you choose instead of virtual instrument on
new trick and you click. It eventually takes you to
the instrument section. And under your
instruments sections, you can see that we've
got conduct there. So you double-click on conduct and you'll
be presented with this panel which says build
a routing confirmation. Do you want to add the following
tricks for this effect? If not all of these things, we're just going to
say no for now, okay? Alright, then our new Conduct
would be right here for us, but you can see it's blank here. What we want to do now
is we're not going to be playing any media
information yet. We are just going to configure the outputs of conduct
so that we can be able to receive audio in Reaper for you to add more to
your outputs in conduct, you need to come here on this tab and you click
that arrow there, and you come here
with written outputs. Then you click there. Okay,
so when you come here, you see we got only Studio
One or the ball here, but we're going to be
using 16 channels. So we need to make
sure that we've got 16 stereo channels here for you to add more to
your outputs and conduct. Come here to this small plus, and you click it and
you'll come here to this quantity and you push
it up all the waitlist, just push it up all
the way to 64, okay? Alright, number of channels. We're going to keep it too. And we come here to sound cut, slash, horse the output. Then we come here and
to make sure that you choose Katy's studio one. Okay, then you leave this unchecked and you'll
come down here and say, delete existing channels
before creating new channels. What we want to do is we want all this output channels to be replaced by what we are
creating right here. And we come to this
one way it's written, make this your default
configuration. We want to make
sure that this is checked so that
every time we start conduct all have the
very same configuration. And let's just push
this one back to 64. Then you hit Okay. So as you can see,
we have successfully managed to create
our studio outputs. And you can see Studio one is coming on one to studio tool. It will be using channel 34, stereo three to be using
channel 56 and so forth. So this is all we need
to do in terms of configuring conduct
for routing in Reaper. Okay, I'll see you
in the next lecture.
7. Routing kontakt in reaper: Okay guys, welcome back to the course and on this
lecture we're going to be rooting conduct in
Reaper, the professional way. And I believe this is the moment that you've been waiting for, if you can recall, when we introduce
this cost to you, I did promise you guys
that we're going to be using one trick, alright, in right here in
Reaper to control our, our midi data into control our audio outputting from conduct. Okay, So this is the kind of fruiting that you
normally get in Studio and you can also find the very same kind of
routing in Pro Tools. Okay, so this is the kind of routing that we're
going for here. So we're going to
be using one trick, trigger our media
information through conduct. Then we're going to be using the very same trick for outputting the
audio from conduct. So to do that, come here to the trig panel, right-click and you'll
come here with written in set virtual instrument
on the two new trick, okay, Then you click here repo automatically take you to
the instrument section. Under instruments
sections, you need to look for the conduct of
VSD instrument. Then you just need to
double-click on it. Once you double-click,
you'll be given this panel here that is saying build
routing confirmation. Okay? And it says, do you want to add the following
tricks for this effect? Not only this Cheerio 12 outputs will be audible without
further routing, okay? And we don't want
nothing of that. So we're just going to say no, we're going to do it manually. Okay. Now we got conduct open. Now I'm just going to move this conduct to the
extreme here, okay? Perfect. So the first thing that we need to do is we
need to make sure that all this studio
channels are set up. If you don't have this setup, please just go back to the, to the previous
course where we are setting up conduct
for routing in repo, okay, and make sure that you go through that course
and set it up. Okay, So we go studio
wants to do 23456. We did set it up to 64, but we're going to be using 16 channels for these
costs are right. So we want to add
an acoustic piano, let's say, okay, let's
edit this acoustic piano. Then I'm going to close this. So we're going to be adding
one instrument at a time and configuring it so that
it doesn't get confusing. Okay? So the first
thing that you need to do once you add
your instrument here, you need to make sure
that it's set to studio. And so to set it up, you just need to come
here who has written Studio one and click and make sure that
it's set to studio. And so the first one we
needed to own studio one, and now we have to come here to the conduct routing itself. So this is the conduct we're going to call it conduct host. These trachea is hosting
our conduct instrument. Okay, so we're not going to be playing anything on this one. We just need this twig to
host our Kodak instrument. So we need to tell, conduct how many outputs we need folly to function, right? So come here where you've got this icon and it's written root, click on it, pull it aside. And you'll come here with
written trick channels. Just make sure that you
pull it all the way to 16. And he always the
region must ascend. If you don't deactivate this, you're going to be hearing
doubles in contexts. So we need to make sure that we uncheck that, we disable that. Make sure also
that you will come here where it's written input. Just make sure you
put it to none. We don't want an input
coming through this trick. You just have to double-click
here on the panel. And by doing so you
create a new trick. You need to arm this guy, okay? So you click this button,
then you right-click. And you'll come
here to input midi, all midi inputs,
all channels. Okay? If we can play something
on our keyboard, you can realize that these, the signal they're getting in, but that signal is not
triggering anything in conduct. So we need to tell
this trig that look, once we press anything
on our keyboard, go and trigger conduct. So that's where the magic is. You'll come back heel with written rooting
for this trick. Now, you click. Let's pull it aside. We got two sections here. We got this section
called saints, and we call this section
called the receive. On this sense section, we're going to be sending this
signal that you find here. So if you can look
on this track, you can see that we got
this ready input there. So that's a midi signal which
is entering into the trick. But this means the signal is not triggering anything in conduct. So you need to make
sure that to you. Tell this trig to say, Hey, that's input that is coming
in there on this trick, send it to conduct. So the way you can do that is you can come here
to the same section. You need to scroll down
and choose conduct host. Then under conduct host, what is it that we want to send? We need to send immediate
information to conduct player. The first settings that you
see here is written audio, but we don't want to send it in audio information
to conduct player. What we want to do is we want to send to the
media information. Just need to click
here and choose none. Because we have nothing to
do here with sending audio. We want to send the midi
data through these things. Right, you on the
receivable should be able to get the audio into Reaper. The next thing that
we need to do is we need to come here to
the media inflammation. That's where it's
very, very important. Okay, So under the mid section, all we're looking for is this second option where
this arrow here, okay? So you need to come
here with origin O and change it to one. Why are we changing it to one? Because remember, here
on our conducts player, we want to set to your one
to the first input here. Okay? So that's it
in terms of sense. So if I can come back to my
keyboard and place anything, you can see now that our conduct player is
now being triggered. Okay? But the problem is that we are not hearing sound yet, and that is because we haven't configured the
receive section here. To do that, we need to come
here always written ed, and you'll receive and we
choose conduct host again. This time, we are not
interested with the media. What we want to do is
that we want to receive these midi information that was sent here as an
audio right here. You need to come
here to post-fader and just choose preferred. If you use post-fader, sometimes you might
hear some weird noises. So to get rid of that, just makes sure that you come
here and choose, preferred. Then here on, on
the audio section, you would click here and
you go to Studio source. As you can see, we've
got 12345678910, all the way to 1516 is the very same thing
that you can see here. We got 12345678. So this is the configuration
that we are going for by the first one is
already set, which is 12. So this is how we want it to, because Studio One is on
one too, is you can see. So we need to make sure
that this guy is selected. Then we come here to
the media section. We're going to be coming here. Whereas originally all and
we click and we choose none. We don't want
anything to do with meat on the receive section. So if I can come to my
keyboard and play some keys, you're going to hear that now. We are getting sound on
the very same trick. Okay, Perfect. So that's the first thing, and we're going to call this
guide grand piano, alright? At least just
called grand piano. Okay, I'll give it a
second instrument. Okay, so I'm going to
double-click here. Make sure that you
deactivate that. Okay, then I'm
going to come here. Alright, make sure you record, um, the trick and
you right-click, you go to the input, midi, all midi inputs, all channels. Okay? Let's just name
these and we're going to say E Piano, okay, so we're going to put in electronic piano right there. But before we
continue any further, let's just put the electronic
piano of our choice. I'm just going to put
this one right now. Okay. Perfect. Then this one now we want it to come
out right here on 34, so that's should be on CO2. So we need to come
here and choose CO2. Okay, perfect. But if we can play
something on the keyboard, you see there's
nothing happening yet because we haven't
configured it. So we need to go through
the very same process that we did in the beginning. So you just need to
get used to this kind of way of doing things and
actually is very, very simple. So come back here to
the routing section. And you just need
to come here to add new sand and you'll
choose conduct host. Alright, then we'd have
nothing to do with the audio. So make sure that
you've set it to none. Then you'll come here
under me to go to the second way is
this arrow and choose two now because we are on studio tool source TO
234, don't forget that. Okay, Then we are
done on this section. If you can play now something you can see now
we're getting input. And then on the
receive section we just have to come
back to conduct host again and make sure the first thing
that you need to do is to deactivate this mid sole, come here to all and say none. And just make sure that
you choose pre fader here. Okay, so you come here with an audio Studio Source and choose 34 because we
got 34 right here. I'm just going to
play something here. Then plead, beg to you so that you can actually see
what I'm talking about. Alright, so let me just
play something right here. So let's move on now and we're going to be
adding something else. Let's add something
like strings. Okay, so I'm going to
create a new trachea. I'm going to call it strings. And makes sure that your
amit, I'm going to unmute. And I'm gonna come down here
and go to the input Mead. And I'm going to go
to all midi inputs, all channels. Okay?
Alright, Perfect. Then the next thing then
we need to do is we need to come here to our conduct player and choose
a string of our choice. I'm going to choose
warm strings here. And the first thing that
we need to do is to make sure that we change
these two Studio three. Studio three, and it's going to be coming out here
on five-sixths. Then once that done. But let's come back to
our trick settings. So we go to our
routing configuration and do we just drag this guy on the side and on the scenes? We're going to
choose conduct host. And we're going to make sure that we sit
the audio to nan. And our midsection
on this guy here, we need to make sure that we own three because we
own steal three. Okay, perfect. So we are done
with this section. Then we got to come here
to our received sections. So we got to choose
conduct host. And we just need
to make sure that we deactivate our Midea and choose preferred so that we avoid some noises
for some reason. And then you'll have to come here to audio and
chose to your source. And you got to come here
to 5656 right here. Okay. Perfect. So
if we can play now, you can be able to just
spending on, you can hear that. Okay, So I'm going to
add two more instruments just to make sure that
you get this idea. Otherwise, after that, you can continue to do
it by yourself. Alright, so let's see and
lists it in organ here. Okay, and we omit, then we're going to
come to the input midi, all midi inputs and
choose all channels. Okay? And let's
look for an organ. Here. Is organ, okay, here we've got an organ. And what organ are we
going to be using? Well, this is not about playing. I think Let's just come
here to the fist organ. And we were on three and now
we've got to go to phone. Okay. So he's going to
be coming here on 78. Just bear in mind.
Then we come here to the routing
configuration, okay? And we just need to send it to conduct hosts always
sending the media. We have nothing to do with
the audio. So turn that off. And here we got to we
are on for right now, so we just need to make sure
that we sit in the same. Okay. Then we come to the receive section and we
got to add conduct hosts. And we have nothing
to do with me. So make sure that
it will come here and set it to none again. And here on the audio, you just need to make sure
that it's t of four is on 78. So we got to go to Studio
source and look for 78. Alright, if I can play now, you'll be able to
hear the organ. And I'm going to add one more. Okay, Let's add a base. I'm going to add a bear is Gita, Lizzie, do have a biscuit. Alright, I'm just
going to come here to this guy cardio base and
I'm going to biscuit. Alright, so now we're going to be putting this
guy on steel five. So this number five is
actually giving you a hand of studio
Chinese need to choose. So you come here and
you'll come to CI or five. So I come here and I
have to write base. Perfect. Then make
sure your arm it. So you'll come to input meat
or channels, or channels. Okay, so we've got to come
here to the midi routine. Then we have to
come on the scenes and choose conduct hosts. And we have nothing
to do with the audio. We are interested in
the mean right here, so we're going to choose it. We're going to choose the mid input number
five. Yeah, okay. Then we go to add
receive, conduct host, and we have to
deactivate the meat here because we are not interested in the
meat and we just go, we just have to come here to the Audio section and go
to steal your source. And we got to make
sure that he's on 910. As you can see, here's
g of five is on 910. So make sure that you
choose 910, alright? And you close and you'll be
able to play your best day. Let's do one last one. Let's see what we can add here. Let me cut, okay, let me come to this, to this conduct library here. Then I'm going to come right
here on the leads into, let's see if we can
get let me get this. Okay. So I'm going
to use this guy. We just need to make
sure that we go to Studio six right here. Okay. So he's gonna be
coming out here on 1112. Then we have to create
a new trick here. And we're going to call
it bleed D on this one. Um, this one. Okay,
configure the meat. You go to. Input made all
midi inputs or channels. Okay, Then you'll come to the routing here
for this trick and make sure that you add conduct
host on the audio section. We have nothing to do with that. The activate that, then come to the meeting,
the last one. And we are on channel
midi channel six. As you can see here,
that's midi channel six. So we need to make sure that
we choose midi channel six. Then come here to the edge, you'll receive your chose
conduct hosts, pre fader. He just fool some
reason I even go to in mid noisy see it. But just for some reason, you might experience me to noises so it makes sure
that he's on pre-fader. Then deactivate the media
section here. Studios secrecy. So an 1112. So you just need to make sure that
you will live in 12th. Okay. So let's play that up. Okay. Let me just record
my electronic piano. Okay, So this is it guys, in terms of routine
conduct in Reaper, what we're going to be
doing now is we're going to be configuring a
reason for routine. After that, we go into program
song right here in Reaper, using both the
reason and conduct. Okay guys, thanks for watching. And I believe you've
been learning and I believe this is the secrets that you've been awaiting for, but the secrets have
been reviewed now. So just keep on practicing,
keep on practicing. This is not a difficult
thing at all. You can save this as a
template if you want to. But I tell you what the
best way to do it is just to practice how to
read this thing manually. It is very, very simple, so just practice to
do it. Do it, do it. The more you do it,
the more you get more experienced
and the more you get an understanding of how things work in
terms of routing.
8. Setting up reason for routing: Okay guys, welcome back to the
course and on this lecture we're going to be setting
up a reason, okay? The first thing
that you need to do is you need to go to Edit. And when you go to the edit, you go down to the
preferences menu. Then when you are on the
preferences menu, under General, you go always written
default song and you just need to make
sure that you go to M2 Rick selected there. That's the first thing. The second thing that we
need to be taken care of is we need to
go to our keyboard and control surfaces
and we should deactivate any control
surfaces that we are using. Alright, so now if we open a new region file by going
to File and we say new, you will realize that we are presented with an empty array. There's nothing on it and
this is exactly what we want. Alright? Okay, so the reason why we deactivated our control surface is because we don't want
to have a double sound. We went to all these sounds
to be controlled by repo. We don't want our
control surfaces to be triggering any media
information in reason. Okay, so that's it in terms
of setting up a reason and we can now close it and
we go back to Reaper. Alright.
9. Rewire booster installation: Okay guys, welcome back to the course and on
this lecture we're going to be installing
rewire booster, alright, by this
gentleman called J Punk. We have spoken about the rewire booster before
when we were setting up for EPA and we say the
RealWear booster is a plug-in that is going
to help us to relocate. Our reason for
because every time you create a project
in Reaper and you happen to have recently where to eat and the Repo open a
blank new file for you. Okay, so the next time you open the very same
project in Reaper, a repo continue to give
you a blank new file. Then you have to go to
reason and tell it where the file for that
project is located. So it becomes a two-way process. It becomes a tedious job. Once you got the rewire booster installed on your machine, you can be able to
tell me but to say, hey, the reason for that
I used for this project is located in this location. If you've got your
project files, you'll be able to see the folder for the
real booster in there. Now I'm going to
teach you how to install it so that
when you come here to your effects browser and
you'll come under categories, you should be able
to see JE punk here. We don't see J punk here because there's
nothing installed. So what you need to do
is you need to go to your project folder and look for the folder
named rewire boost. So I'm just going to come here to the location where I
have it in my machine. Let's see. Let's see, let's see
where do I have it? In my machine? The
real-world booster is located in the report templates, and it's right here in
this folder called. So I'm going to open it up. Says zipped folder. You need to right-click
and you say extract here. Once you extract,
you realize that you've got these two files here. Okay, so let's just read this one returned
to rewire boost that. Read me file, load in
your master Uighur, press the Slave
Project button and finally saved slave
app project file, save your master project. When you reload the
master project, all this information and
you can read it through. But it was a little bit
complicated for for me to understand what the **** you do with it and
give it to all. So ever, if you think
you can sell it, go ahead, I'll get fine. We're not going to sell it. But thus goods sold
is a generalist guy. He said we can use
this plug-in forever, whatever reason, that's why you have it in a project file. So we come to this, to this file here retained
rewire both 0 to D, D, L. So I'm going to copy this. So you need to
make sure that you copy and then go to your PC, right here on this PC. Then you come here to
your local disk C, then you open it and you'll come here to the project
files 86, okay. Then you'll look
for VST plugins. Vst plugins, you
open that folder and we just paste it right
inside this forward. Once you paste it, then you'll come here
to the same thing. There's no j punk yet. So what you need
to do now you need to go to your options. So you come here to Options and you'll come here to preferences. And under Preferences,
you need to look for, let's see, we need to
look for VST plugins. Then you say rescan, okay? So once you do
that, you hit Okay? Alright, then you'll come
back to your ethics browse. So when you come back
to your FX browser, you'll go back to your
categories again and check. Do we have this J Pangaea is toward or Yeah, it's
under developers. Okay, so you'll come here. Now we've got J punk
installed and developers. If you come here, you
can see now we've got this rewire booster and
a score 0.002 times 86. So we just want to
create a new trick here and drag this rewire booster
and just drop it on top of, of, of the trick. So this is what the rewire
boost that looks like. So I'm going to teach you
how to use it when it comes to rewiring recent in Reaper. That's it guys, in terms of installing the rewire
booster in Reaper, thanks to this guy
called J punk, he did a wonderful job
in making sure that things remains tied in Reaper.
10. Routing reason 5 drums: Okay, so the first
thing that we need to do is we need to come here to the track panel and we create a new trick
by double-clicking. Then you have to come
to your ethics browser. When you come to
your ethics browser, just go to the last section. Then you'll be able to
find a reason 32 there. So you just need to drag
reason 32 and drop it on top of the track that you
just created. Just like that. And you'll be presented with
this with this panel here. So you just need to
make sure that you push it to the extreme right? And the other thing that we want to do is we want
to make sure that this trick Panel remain open because we're gonna be
using it a whole lot. So to do that, you just need
to come here to two where we have this pin icon here and
make sure that you click it. So this will make
sure that this panel continue to remain
open no matter what we touch right here and the reason we got this trick
and we're going to name it. So let's name it, reason. Reason hosts. Alright, so this trick, the purpose of this trick
is that is going to be hosting our, our reason file. Okay? So what do you do after that is you gotta come here to
it's written routing king. And you're good to come to. You've got to come here to
always written trick channels. And you got to click right
here and you just need to make sure that you
pull it all the way even to 64. It doesn't matter. That ensures that we are using 64 channel tricks
from reason itself. You just need to come
here to this panel, window panel here and
you go to Show panel. So what it does, it will open a blank
new region file for us. So here we have our our
region file and it's blank. Okay, this is how
we want it exactly. You'll come to file
the new goal to save. Then I'm just going to save
this one on my desktop, okay? Alright, I'm going to save it on my desktop and I'm
just going to call it. I'm going to call it a reason. Reason hosts. Again,
I'm just going to call it so you're gonna
give it a name of your choice. Then I'm going to save
it right on the desktop. Alright, if we happen to close the reaper and we reopen Reaper, even though the project
might have been completed, a repo continue to give us
a blank new reason file because it assumes that you want to start a project and
this is not what we want. That's the reason why we
did install rewire booster. And the purpose of
the rewire boost, as we have mentioned before, is that it's going to
help us to relocate. Our reason for this
is the time to do it. Now, what you need
to do is you need to right-click here to
create a new trick. So you can create
a new trick here. And let's just call
it rewire bolster. Okay, then after
creating the trachea, just need to come here
to your ethics browser. Okay, Let me just bring this, this panel here for now. So you'll come to
your effects browser and you look for J punk and your developers look for J punk and you'll be able
to see rewire booster. So just directly where Boston, right there on top
of that trick. Okay. You'll be presented with
this new window panel. Any salary where boost as 0.002. Okay, So this is the plugin
that we're going to use to tell Reaper to do is locate
our reason for okay. So you just need
to come your way. It's written Lord slept project. So just click on that. You'll just have to
go to your desktop or to the location that you
saved your reason far. Okay. Then I have to come here. Mine is on the desktop and I
coded the reason host alias. So just click on
it and say Open. Then you'll close. Okay? So no matter whatever we do, even if we work on the project, then we close it and we have to come and open the very
same project after a week. Repo automatically, give us the right file that
we've been working on. Reason. Hence, it costs
the job of having to to open the reaper file. Then you will have to go to
reason and relocate the file. So it will be a double job. So thanks to the rewire
booster because it actually makes our workflow
a little bit easier. Okay, Then once we
have done that, I'm just going to
hide the layer where boost that because we
don't need it for now. So we got to come here
to the track manager. Here. We go. Here always written
rewire boosters. So under the TCP and the MCP, we just want to
make sure that we deactivate that so
that it will not be visible on the panel
and on the mixer panel. Okay, so the next
thing that we want to do is we want to come
here to the effects. Then we're going
to say Chopin now. Alright, we need to
create the drums fist. So we're going to be using
drums for some reason. And I'm going to show
you also how to program, how to route your, your pianos, your
synth, and everything. So that if you just want to use a reason for your
production purposes, you can do that as well. To create the drums, we
just have to come here to Create and we go to combinator. On the combinator section. I'm just going to go
here to this folder and open sticking a
little bit of time. Okay, Here we go. Then I'm going to come
to reason sound module. And I've got my redrawn
kids located right here. So you just have to go and
relocate to wherever you got your red drunk his
installed in your computer. I'm going to go to
the redrawn Keats and I'm gonna go to drunk
his pitches, okay? Then I go to preset keys
and I go to mount it out. And all Mike's. Then I'm going to go to
a vintage soul funk. Then I'm just going to
choose Lacey fresh, fresh B. Okay, perfect. Then I'm gonna hit Okay. Okay. So our redrawn kiss
her finished loading now, then if we can come here
to the mixer section, you can see that we
go the kick snare, this name bottom the top throat, Tom three times, two times one. So this is all we have, but now we need to
reconfigure this. But before we can
configure our region file, we just need to create
all these tricks that we have on the mixer channel
right here in Reaper. Okay, so to do that, we just need to
come here to report on the trig panel and
we'll right-click. Then we say insert
multiple tracks. Okay, let's go all
the way to ten. We're just going to
say, Okay, perfect. Then we just have to name
all these tricks right here. We're not going to be using
them for triggering the meat. Okay, so what do we need to do is we need to
select all of them. And we click here on the button. So you right-click
and you come to input and you say none, okay? Then you also have to come here. Click on the button again and you'll come to
record the Disable. Okay, then we have
to go back to reason and check what what
channels do we have? There we go, the kick
snare, snare bottom. So I'm just going
to name these ones. Go the kick. And we go this name. And we go the snare bottom. Okay, let's check again. What else do we have? Then we got the tome
three-to-one heads. Okay, so we're gonna
go for that one. So we're gonna go for Tom three. I'm just going to copy that. Tone to tone one. What else? The other one, it
was heads. Perfect. Then let's go back and check. So we've got high heads. Alright, let's just name it. The weight is so high
hits right there. Okay. Then let's check. What else do we have? We've got tambourine,
overheads and ambience. So we're gonna go for
tumble run, tumble, run. And we go to overheads. And I'm going to write
this one in kept her letters are like so. Then we got what is it? Ambience. Be the okay, let's check what S to F. And we'll go to the
clip and this name. So I'm going to create
a new tricks here. I'm just going to come here and duplicate this two tricks. Duplicate them just like so. And I'm going to bring the ambiance just
on top of this one. And this one we're
going to call it clip. Okay. Colored clay. And let's see. Yeah. And the other one
is called snip. Okay. Perfect. So this is all we have
in terms of the setup. We've got the kick, the
snare, snare bottom. They Tom three and
all these things. We need to make sure that
we come here, alright, or we just need to come here
to the audio from rewire. From audio from
rewire is you can see here we got the
required output, this output and we go
the trick channels and we need to continue with
the numbering process, okay? So we just need to continue
this channel three. So we just need to make sure
that we put three there. Then we go for four. So just take your time, Enter and rename
all these things. So six and we get a
789101011121314151617, 1819 trend. That's what you need to do. So you just need to come here to audio from railway and you need to rename all these
things all the way to 64. If you want to use 64 channels, if you want to use 16, just
make sure you use 16, okay? Then the next thing that
you wanna do is you need to come here
to meet Senator uy. Just go back to reason
so that I can show you. So if you can come in here, you can see always
written audio output. We'd go to one all the
way to 16 for now. If you want to see more, you just go here to more audio. So you can see that with good audio one to 16
here, the first group, and we go 17 to 3232 to 48, then 49 to 64. So you can use all
these channels in reason for us to be able
to access these tricks. We need to press Tab. So when you press Tab
on your keyboard, you can be able to see at the
back of your, your devices. Then we just need to, to, to come your way is
the written combinator. So I'll combinatorics
actually mapped to 12. Then we need to activate this. So you just pull off these
cables and let's rename this. I'm just going to call it drums. I'm going to rename it to drums. And why do we need to do now, we know the first one is a Keq, so this one is actually
giving us an indication. So this is the key
goal number one. So we just want to reroute to everything from our
mixer into the, into the, into the
hardware interface. So we're just going
to put our Keq, write their own number one, our snare, and number two. This one on number three, even if we don't look, it's not important
that we just need to route them as they are
configured right here. We come to five, this
one goes to five, and this one is on six. So we just got to put it on six. Then we got this one on seven. Just put it on seven. And this one is on eight. Put it on eight. This one
is a nine, just put it on. This one is on ten, just bring it to ten. This one is on 11. Just bring it on 11 and
we'll go to another kibble. So they just make sure
that I do bring it on top. Now, again, this one here, we just got to continue. We've got another camera there. Make sure you bring
it on an empty slot. And we call it one last one. So we're going to bring
it right here on 15. And this last one, we're going to bring it on 16. So we have already used
all our 16 channels. So you can continue if you
wanted to add more drums, you could just continue with it. But we just going to use 16 channels is good
enough for the drums. Okay? Okay, so you just
need to make sure that your media is
set properly sold. Right-click here on the
Amtrak and go to Input midi. Then you say all midi
inputs, all channels. Okay? So if you can play
something on the keyboard, you can see that we got a midi signal that
is coming in here. Alright? Alright. So the first thing is that you're going to
hear if the snare drum and the kick, because they are set to one too. But we need to configure
this thing afresh, okay? Alright. And we just need
to make sure that our Master sent is
written must ascend. We need to make sure
that we deactivate. These will remember in reason, we're rigid our drums all
the way to channel 16. So we need to make sure that it's properly configured
in right-hand region. So you just need to come
here to meet the center to the UI and you choose
the first trick, or the way up to
channel 16, like this. So you just need to make
sure that Let's do it again. You choose the fifth
trick or shift, and you go down to channel
16 and click all of them, alright, then you right-click and you have to
choose your drums. You remember, we named our combinator drums
right here and reasons. So you just need to make sure
that you choose drums ok, so that we can be able to see
what are we dealing with? Again, we're going
to be recording all our mid right on this trick. Then this truck is just
going to be giving us audio so that we can be
able to control the levels. Okay, so to do that, you'll come here and
you click Routing. Don't know anything about the sense we are worried
about the receipts. You'll come here to
the receive section, then you choose reason host. Then what we're interested
in is the audio here, okay? The Meat. We have nothing to do with the media. So
make sure that you Usually you set the mid to none and make sure that you're
also set this to pre-fader. Then you'll come here to audio. Now this is what we
are interested in. Then you have to make sure
that you will come here and you'll go to our
cookies and mono. You will need to make sure that we said the kick drum on or so. We don't go to stereo sauce, so we go tomato sauce and
we want to set it to one. Okay? So we need also to
come right here and configure this
guy, this snare. So to do that,
just go back here. Very, very simple stuff. Come back and go to reason host. Then you got to go to your midi section
and just say none. And side2 pre-fader. Okay, then here our
Keq is in mono, so just go to two. Now you can, here we go, the snake right there, then let's go to snare
bottom. Very same thing. Okay, So just go back
and go to reason host. Okay. Maybe set it none. They instead they
still prefer to. Our snail bottom is in
moles, so just go to three. Okay. Perfect. Close this. Let's go to number
four. We go to the top. Alright, then we
just come here to reason host and co-host. And we're good to make sure that our media is set to none. And our audio is
going to be mono. And right now we
are on channel six. Okay? So remember that we
got one channel for a reason host and we
go to one channel for real our boost that. So that's why we got six. So you just say six minus
two, then you get four. So you just need
to make sure that you are on mono sauce fall. Okay. Perfect. So you got your tom
there. You can hear. Okay. Alright, perfect. Then we go to tom to come
here and receive reason host. Alright. Then makes sure that
the meat is set to none. And you got pre-fader selected and you go to
the audio mono source, and we are on channel seven now, minus two will go to, go to Channel five. So we're going to sit
audio to five right now. And you can here we go, The Tom tool right there. Okay, Then let's go to
Tom one same thing. Go to your routing settings. Reason host. Then the
midsection, make sure it's none. And the preferred
city to pre-fader and set this guy to pre-fader. Okay, Then on the audio section, we are on channel, what we own, channel
eight minus two. So we got to put Armana
sauce on channel six. Okay. Perfect. That's your first term there. Alright. Then we go to the high hats. Alright? Currently there's nothing. Even if I'm playing
something here, you can see nothing is
because nothing is said. Come to Your routine. Let me just pull this guy up and we don't need
this guy for now. Okay, so come to this guy and pull it up a little bit
and receive reason host. Then to the middle
section we want to say none and set this
guy to pre-fader, okay, and on this
source we go to mono sauce and we're
on track nine. So we say nine minus
two, we're on tricks it. We'll just have to put
this on channel seven. Okay? Then we go to highest now. Alright, perfect. Then we are done
with the highest. Then we go to tambourine. And let's do this
very same thing. And we go to add new
receive and we'd go Region host on
your midsection. Make sure I set it to
none on the audio. Make sure you go mono. And we are on track
ten, so minus two, we got to go to aid in do we got our
tambourine right here. Okay. Then on the overheads, let me just quote down here, I'll get on the overheads. Go to your routing. And you just need to make sure that you go to reason host. Okay, now our overheads, our studio in HR. So our overheads are
set to trick to trick. What, what, what was that? It was trach 910. So we got 910, therefore, overheads ambiance is 1112. So we just need to make sure
that we got that in place. So we come to routing. Then we have chosen
reason horse here. Then on the mean, do we need to make sure
that we set it to none? Then on the audio output, we got to studio
this time because we know overheads eyes to you in nature and in reason we do
see them on the trick 910. So you just need to make
sure that you would go to steal your 910 right here. Perfect. Okay. So if I can play something, if I close this and
I play something, you're going to hear
now the overheads are coming through here, right? You can hear them. Okay. Perfect. Then we go to the ambience, ambience the inset or is
set to 1112 in reason. So you just need to come down here and add new
receive reason host, and make sure your
meat is set to none. Then you go to prefer
the right here. Then you'll need to go to steal your sauce and we will name ten. So this one is set to 1112. Okay, so we are good to go. If I play something, okay, You can see the overheads in the ambience are
coming through. Then we gotta go to clay. Clay sits 291112. So this one is set
to theta and 14. So just come here, reason host and sit
two Nan, this guy. Then you go to audio, then is still your source. And we're going to go
to theta1 14, Dan. And we're going to
come here to snip, do the very same thing. Steady to reason host. Then you got to go to meet the set it to none
and audios Cheerio, then we're going to go to 1516, and that was the last one. Alright. So perfect. So everything is set
up in place right now. Alright? If you wanted to
record this drums, all you just need to do is you need to make
sure that this guy selected and this is where you're going to be
recording on drums. If you are recording life, you need to make sure that
you set your midi inputs. Notice to all midi inputs, okay, you need to set it to the correct instrument
that you are using for triggering the drums. If you go to your
Yamaha drum set, you just need to make sure
that you choose Yamaha. Jerome said, I don't have
nothing at the moment. So choose Yamaha drum set. If you've got any
other drunks at, just choose it, don't
go to all midi inputs. Because when you go
to all midi inputs, even if you, you
play your keyboard, then your keyboard will be
triggering the drums are the symptoms then that will be converted to bring confusion. Okay, So that being said, let's go back now. Everything is set now. So what do we need to do is I just going to
record a little bit of drums here so that you
can see how this goes. Okay? So I'm going to
recall the draftsman. Okay, Perfect. So this is how you do it. But for now I'm just going
to be deleting this. We're going to be making a song after this, after this training. Alright, for now
we don't want to see all these things
that we've just created. Also all these tricks we might need to see
the reason host. But we don't want to see, we don't want to see
all these tricks or we just need to come back
to our trig manager. And we come here
with reading kick, and we just hide all these guys here
starting from here as well. We just need to hide
all these guys. Okay. And yeah, so
we got a reason. Drums sit. Now sit. Okay. So this is the most
difficult one to set up, but it's not that
difficult at all. So what you need to do
is you need to make sure that you save it
template for this. Okay? So to save a template for these, just need to come to File. You go to project
templates and you'll come to save projects
is template okay. You're gonna be saved in your report forward under
the project templates. So I'm going to call
it my work flow. Okay? I'm going to save it. Alright, let's come
to reason here. Okay, then let's save a
template for this guy. So you'll come here
and you say Save. Save is a reason host template, reason
horse template. And I'm going to put it
on the desktop, alright, so you can save it to any
other location that you want. Then after that, you just
need to make sure that you come here to preferences. You'll come to
preferences. Alright? Then you go under General. You just need to make sure that initially we
set it to M2 Rick. So you just need to bring it
here to build it to custom. Then you just have
to open this for now and Lee locate
where your file is, then you go to the desktop. I'm going to choose the
reason host template. Then every time we have to
start a project in reason, or every time we
open the reason, it will just bring us this template so we
don't have to be wasting time configuring
these things again and again and again. Okay, Perfect. That's it. In terms of the drum section.
11. Routing reason 5 synth: Okay, so let's go back
to Reason for now. And I'm going to
be adding a piano. So I'm just going
to add in an x t, and I'm going to
call it grand piano. And I'm going to
call it grand piano. So make sure that it's in bold so that you can
be able to see it right there in in,
in, in Reaper. Okay. And this time I'm
going to put it on 1718, so I'm just going to write 1718 so that when I go to repo, be able to visualize
it correctly. So to, to make sure that these, this grand piano that we have
here is playing in Reaper. All we just need to do is we just need to create a new trick. And I'm going to call it
grand piano again here. Gland p and p or no. And I'm going to do 1718 here. So I'm going to name it
1718 so that I'll be able to know exactly the channel
that it t's being played. What I need to do
now on this one, I need to send the meat to reason because I'm not
going to be using this one. We use the this one reason
host for the drums. We want to use this trick
to trigger the media in reason and at the
same time bringing the audio back to Reaper. Okay, so to do that, we just need to come here to
our routing section here, and we go to the second section, then we want to send the media. So we do the very same
thing we did with conduct. So you'll come to
a reasonable cost. We are not interested
in the audio now, so make sure that
you send it on none. And we come here to this second mid section
which is written o. And this time we're not going to put it in any of these because these channels are
being used like the bus one is being used
by, by the drums. So we need to make sure
that we come to bus two, and we choose bus to one. We go to bus one here, and we've got bus to go
to bath three and we get a bus for we use the bus
one for all our children, Saul Bass, one is
actually occupied. This you can see
unto channel 16. So we're not going to use the bus channel one
because it's used. So we have to start
on bus channel too. So to do that, you
just come here and you'll come here and
to your media section, click then you go to bus. This is the only bus available. So go to bus to one. Then by doing so, if I can play something, let me activate this and make sure that you go to input midi, midi channels in this case. Then you can see that the mean is actually going to reason. Okay? Let's see here. Okay, we got, we got the
midi is going to reason, but we don't have any
audio coming out yet. So to do that, we just
need to come here to Ed and you'll receive then
we see a reason host. Okay. We're not worried
about the need for now, so we just need to come
to me and say none. Okay. Let's say this The preferred
and you'll come to audio. We need it to be in studio, so you have to come to
audio and you say studio, this one is going
to be 1718. Okay? And we close. So that's all. But you can
see we don't hear an audio. The reason being that when
we ended this piano here, we did not route it. So we just need to come
here to the backside of this guy and difficult
to see here. But you just need to make sure that if you
just click there, then you say hardware. Then you just need to make sure that the available channel is 1718 to just automatically
routed to the 1718. So if you come here now, shouldn't be able to
hear your radio sound, but I kinda hear
this sound at all. Okay? Now, we can hear the sound at all because
there's something wrong. Let's go back here to our
midi center to rewire, we need to select on bus to, and we need to select the instrument that
we're using in reason. So you just need to come here, right-click and remember we
name it the grand piano 1718. So we come down
and write Haiti's, you just choose
grand piano 1718. Now you'll press your
midi controller. You should be able to hear. Alright. Okay, so you got now, Okay, so you got now your
grand piano coming through. Let me add another instrument. Just for the sake of practice, let me add some strings, okay, I'm going to come into
n and x t again. Alright? Then I'm going to
call it strings. And we're going to put them on. That was 1718. So let's put them on 19. Twinned. Allright. Perfect. And we're
going to make sure that when we drag
this one to 1920, okay, so it's a rooted
already. Correct. Okay, Then we have to. To create a new trachea, Let's call it strings. And we say 1920,
allright perfect. Then we need to
make sure that we set this fixed quickly. Alright? Then we have to come to
this guy here, grand p. We got to come to bus, bus two. Then we need to choose strings. 1920s. Okay, then let's
go back to reason. Actually, I didn't not
loaded the strings. So I'm going to look
for these strings here. Resents factory sound. Let's look for strings. Strings, strings, strings,
or instrument pages. And you look for strings, then you should be
able to get strings. Let me use these guys, these strings here,
Okay, perfect. Then we're done. So these strings are already
configured right here. Then we got to come
right here now and it is sent to
the reason host. And we don't worry
about the audio now, we need the meat,
the end we are on bussed to now is on
channel two. Now. We got to go to two. Then let's come here to
Add and you'll receive, Let's go to here
the reason host. And we want the audio, we don't want the media,
so set it to none. Instead, they still prefer that. Let's come back to the audio. The audio is still
your source saw. We set it to what is it? 1920s. You can see here it's 1920s, so you just need to
come here, 1920s. So I can play these things. Now. I just need to
deactivate this, activate this, and go to me. Do you meet it and
make sure that me D, then you go all midi
inputs, all channels. Okay? So I can play
the strings now. Okay, perfect.
Alright, now let's add base and acid or base. And the reason we need to
use subtractor August. So let's create a subtractor. Then we're going
to write it bears. But you know, basis in our
base is only one audio output. So basis in mono actually. So we just need to
make sure that we go to one tricky one channel here. So we gonna send it to a mono
output and we got 20 there. So we're going to send it to 21. We're going to say
base, come out on 21. Alright, then we come
here and we got to tool, drag this guy and
we'll put him on 21. Okay. Perfect. That's right. Then we have to create a trachea and we're
going to call it base. And we say 21. Perfect, alright, then we have to come right
here immediately. And we go to Channel, we go to blast to channel three, and we got to choose
bears 21. Here we go. Then right here on this
trick, disarm this one, Amit, and go to midi or media
inputs or channels, okay? Then you go to the routing now. Alright? You go to add sent, reason host. And we don't want an audio here. And we go to me, this one, and we're going to send it
to bust to channel three, because we are on channel
three right there. Then you go to add new receive. Then you go to reason host. And this time is not gonna be as t is not gonna be Studios,
is gonna be mono. So you go to mono
and you choose 21. Alright, perfect. Then here on the media, make sure you choose none and you'll come here and
choose preferred. Once you do that, you should
be able to hear your best. Okay. I play but I get nothing.
Nothing is coming out. The reason being is that there might be something
wrong with my audio. Let's go to the
audio from rewire and see if everything is okay. There are, yeah, there's no output because they
ended on 20 slide. Just need to make sure that I continue setting this thing. I'm going to put
it to twenty one. Twenty two. Twenty
three. Twenty four. Twenty five. Twenty six. Twenty seven. Twenty eight. Twenty nine. 50. Okay. Yeah. 3132. Okay. So let's, let's assume that you are
using 32 China's for now. So now if I can play my base, you should be able
to hear, okay? Okay, perfect. So we got our base now, our baselines and mono. So we can also add
something else. What else can we add less? And let's add an organ. From Reason. So we're going to add
an organ right here. So this is actually
for somebody who is using reason for all his
production purposes. For an organ, I'm going
to name these two organ. Is the right light or Gan. And we're going to put it, we ended on 2121. We're not going to use
channel 22 anyway, so we're going to
put it on 2324. So we're going to put it 2324. Okay, so let's come here and see if we've
got an organ here. They see, do we have an organ? We've got an organ right here. And what organ are
we going to use? Let's see. Maybe we
can just use this. How ammonium, I don't know
how we can use this guy here. So it's on 203024 lists come in. We can actually copy
this, this setting here. Then we come here and
we can just paste that. Okay, so deactivate that, activated the organ here. Trick. Then you'll come to meet on all midi inputs,
select all inputs. Okay, then let's configure that. Alright, before we
configure that, let's come to the reason host and make sure that this
thing is two in place. And let's go down
midi, send to rewire. And we need to make
sure that we have. By the way, I didn't
not route it again. So I'm going to route it. You can just come here. I had to interface and we
have 2324 in place there. Okay, perfect.
Then we come here. So we go to the next one is going to be
right here on Channel four. And we're going to choose organ twenty three, twenty four. Twenty three, twenty four organ. And we're good to go again. Then we come here and
let's configure this guy. So AdSense, reason, host, or D or none, midi input. Then we're going
to go to bus two. And we're gonna go
to what channels that is channel for salt
boss John for allright. Perfect. Then we come here
to add new host. Okay. Though, we are not interested in the
mid, set that to none. And so they still prefer that. And on the audio we're going
to go for is to your source, and it's on 2324. So you just need to
come here to 2324. Alright, your clothes that you should be able
to hear the organ. We've managed to use one trick
for midi, for media data, and the very same trick that
we used before configuring our immediate data is
the very same trick that we are using for audio output. So this actually is the best workflow that you
can ever have in Reaper. So all you just need to
do is you just need to practice how to route
this thing this way. Then after that, you
will be good to go. Okay, so that's it from me. And in the next lesson, we're going to be
coming up into, we're going to make
a song in Reaper.
12. Reason Rack Redrum Computer routing: Okay guys, welcome
back to the cost. And in this lecture
we're going to be rooting the read drum computer. To do that. I'm just going to come here
to the trick panel here, and I'm just going
to right-click here. Alright, I'm gonna come
here to it's written insert feature instrument
on new trach, okay? And you can see it takes us to the instrument
section right here. So I'm just going
to come in here, always retained
reason rake plug in, then I'm just going
to double-click that. I think we just want
to have this array. So I'm just going to
say yes, alright? And I'm just going to click your way through
written your eye. Okay? And you can see now that we've
got the reason rack here, alright, so this is
the reason why plugin. I'm just going to come in
here and I'm just going to double-click the redrawn, compute our right, and you can see what we
have here. Alright? And I'm just gonna
change this pig here. So I'm just going to click
here and I'm just going to take probably
little rock kit. And I'm just going
to come here and I'm just going to minimize
this a little bit. If you're reasonable
rate is too big, you just need to make
sure that you can come here to zoom and make
sure that it's 80 per cent. You might have it at 120, then it's going to be too big. So you want to bring
it at 80% probably. Alright, so if I can
now hit my drum here, you can see my
drum is coming out right here on out. Alright? And if I hit this name, you can see it's coming
out on the same place. So basically everything
is actually coming out on the same
place right here. Alright. Okay, so what we wanna do now is we want to configure this so that we can be able to have
different outputs here. But before we do that, I think we just want to
rename these things. Alright, so I'm
just going to take the names that we
have right here. And I'm going to put
them right here. On the first trick, I think we went to the
kick to come out there. Alright, And on the second
is gonna be this name. Alright, so I'm just looking at these things
that we have here. As the two, there should
be a snare there. Alright? And this one should be, I think this should
be a rim shot, so I'm just gonna go rim shot. And this is the tambourine, so we've got a
tambourine right here, so I'm just going to
call these tumble rain. Okay. And the next one after the
tambourine is the Tom three. So we got the Tom three. And actually I'm going to
copy this value here, right? I'm just going to
paste it right here. And I'm gonna change
this to Tom two, okay? And I'm going to come up a little bit and I'm going to
paste the same value here, and I'm just going
to say Tom one. Alright, so we go
the tongue Tom, three-year term to term one
in this is the high hates. Alright, so we've got the
head's probably closed. Alright, so I'm just going
to copy this, right? And I'm going to
paste it down here. And this is called heads open. Alright? Okay, and after that, we got this ride. So the last one is right. Okay, so everything else
we're going to delete. So I'm just going
to select these and I'm going to hold shift
and select everything. And I'm going to
right-click and say Remove. Okay. Alright, so you can see everything is still coming
out on the kick channel. This is not what we want. We want the kick
to come out here, this name right here. Alright, if I hit this snare, you can see it's
coming one to the rim. Shot is coming one to actually
everything is coming 12. So what you wanna do is
you wanna come here to I O device and you want to expand
it a little bit, alright? And you want to disable all
these red buttons here. I don't know why it
comes with these on. All right, but we need to
disable all these things here. So what we need to do
is we need to come here to wait written flip rake, and we want to flip this end. We want to come in here
and disconnect these two. We want to round this a little
bit some more. Alright? So we want to take the first
input, which is the kick, and we want to put it
there on main output 12, then this one is actually
going to come on 34. So we got stereo
pairs right there. Okay, So this one
comes out here, and this one here. Alright? So you just gotta bear with
me as I couldn't make this. Alright? So once you've done this, you're actually done with
our routing, these things. Alright, So if I can
hear the kick now, you can see the kick is
on one to the snake is actually on on 34. Alright? And the rim shot
is on his channel. Alright. And we go
the tambourine. We got the Tom three. Term three. We got
Tom to here. Alright. And what is this
will go, Tom one, we got a heads, we
got to open heads, and we'll go to the right. Okay, so this is the
routing that we need. So basically you're
going to be recording all your media information right here on this reason Rick plugin, I'm just going to name
it and I'm going to call it redraw them. Okay. And I'm going to
call it redrawn. Redrawn kit. Okay, so with this now
we are good to go. I'm just going to come
in here and close this reason rake
plug-in here. Alright? And we want to come
here to the trick, manage and disable
everything, alright, and we want to keep the
rear drum kit on here. Alright, then I can
come to my mixer here. We don't want a situation whereby if you want
to start a new song, you have to come in and
load the array drum kit. And you start these
things again. You just want to save this
as a template to begin with. All right? If you want to save
this as a template, you just need to
come here to File. You go to project templates and you can say Save
Project as templates. And you can just come
in here and paste the value that you copied a
little bit earlier there, then you can hit Save. Alright, so now if
we can actually come here to File and
say new project is going to ask you save
and save the project. Then you're going to say no. Let's say now you want
to start a new song now, all you just need
to do is you need to come here to File or right, and you go to project templates, then you can see your
redrawn kid is right there. Then you can just select it. Alright, then you
can see we've got our redrawn computer
there. Alright. So you can play now your kit here and you can actually record all your media data here. And if you can come to
the traffic manager and activate this channels, you can see that
they're still here. So you can see these
kick is coming out on the right channel, the rim shot is coming on the right channel
and everything. It's actually good to go. Alright? Alright, so that's
it in terms of routing. There are redrawn
computer right here in Reaper using the
reason rake plug-in. Alright, I'll see you
in the next lecture.
13. Reason Rack Kong & Rhythmic Drums: All right guys, welcome back to the course and on this lecture, I'm going to teach you how to
route the Kong drum design. Alright, so I've just
shown you how to route your read dram computer. Alright, well we also have
what we call the rhythmic. I think let's just
go there and check. So I'm just going
to come in here and insert new visual,
instrumental, new trick. Then I'm going to come
here to reason rake. And I'm just going
to double-click and I'm going to say yes to all these configurations
are right. If you come here now, you can see we've got
rhythmic drum machine. So you just need
to come in here if you don't see it and
you come to instrument, and you can come to
rhythmic drum machine, alright, so you can
have it right here. If you flip this rack here, you can see now that we
got separate outputs. So we got all the way to ATI
and these are stereo pairs. Alright, so you just
need to disconnect this tough year and you can actually come in here
and do the same. Let me just flip this
a little bit here. Alright? And I'm just going
to deactivate this. Alright? So I'm just giving you
an idea because you already know how to do
this with a redraw them. So you just need
to flip this rake again and you just connect
this to the mains, alright? Just like what we did before. So there's nothing new there. Alright. Okay, so I'm
just configuring these. Okay? Then you'll be able
to have different outputs. And you can be able
to mix this property. Alright? So if you come here, you can see now that we've
got something going on there, alright, and you can see the kick is coming out
right here on stereo out. And they sneeze coming here and everything is actually
rooted, right? So you can actually go ahead and play something right there. Alright, then you
can see now that we get our drum here recorded, okay, so it's just the same
as the redrawn compute. I just wanted to show you
this before we move on. With this, I'm just
going to select these and I'm just
going to delete it and I'm just going to come
here to Kong drum design. Alright, and you can see now that everything
is coming out on 12. So we just need to
round this a little bit some more for you to
be able to read this, you just need to come here
to flip Rick, alright, and you can leave this main outputs are where
they are connected right now. So you're going to take
34 and just put it on 3456, on 5678178. Alright. Okay. Let me put this cable here and this
one right here, alright? And we go this one here, alright, and this one here. So if I can flip the rake, are I saw we go the kick
here and we want it on 12. So this is actually good ago. And we got this nice
come out on 12 as well. So you just come here
ways to retain master FX. And with this selected, alright, you'll collapse this
down and you'll come here with
written drum output. Just change these 234. Alright, you remember
we put it on 34. You can see it's coming on 34. Then you come to this one, which is the high head, alright, so you need to select it
and you can come to 56. Alright, so you can see now
that it's actually on 56, then you come to this append one selected and you go to 78. Alright, so you can
see now that it will get the highest open, then you come to this one
which is written bars. And we should put
that on 910, alright. Okay, Then you'll
come to this one. This should be 1112. Okay. Okay. So that's your 11th, 12th and the clip
and this clip here. Okay, So the clip you
want to put it on, actually paid in 14, alright. And you'll come to this one. Then you want to put it on 1516. Alright. So you can see, I'll
tell you this one did not go away. We want it to go. It should be on fading fall in. I don't know why. For some
reason don't want to go there. Alright, so that's basically
what you need to do in terms of routing this
conundrum, alright, so you just need to make
sure that you collapse this and you will reassign
these outputs here. And then with your Cabo sit
here, you'll be good to go. So if you want to save
the template for this, you can just close
this, alright? And you can actually come
to your trig manager, like I've shown you before, you can just deactivate all
these things here, alright? And you just want to leave
your rake here, okay? And probably you can name it, and you can say
probably Kong drums. Alright. Perfect. Okay, with this now, you can just come in
here to file and you can go to project templates and
you can say seven templates. And you can say, I forgot of copies. So you can just say Kong drums. Alright, so you can
just save this. So you can do this with your rhythmic drum
machine as well. Alright, and list, just come
in here and say new project. Alright, then we're going
to say no to those changes. And if I can come in here
now to File and I go to project templates and I'm
going to choose Kong drums. Then you'll be able to see
that everything is back here. Alright, so I can
actually activate or these tricks that
we have right here, alright, then you
can see their bag. So if we can play
something here, you can see everything is
actually set for us to use it. Alright, so that's
basically the, in terms of routing
the kong drums or the rhythmic drum
machine right here in Reaper using the
reason Rick plug-in. Alright, so that's it from me. I'll see you in
the next lecture.
14. Reason Rack Live Drums: Okay guys, welcome
back to the course. And in this lecture, I'm going to be showing
you how to route live drums right here in Reaper using the
reason rake plugin, I am going to come here to our trig panel and
I'm just going to right-click and I'm going to say inset visual
instrumental new track. Alright Andy, to take you to the instrument
section right here. And I'm just going to double-click
reason wreck plug-in. Alright, so it's going to ask
you all these, this time. We want to say no because
we want to do it manually. Alright, perfect. And I'm just going to come to your eye and I'm just
going to click right here. Alright, coming here, I am going to come
here to my refuse. So I have got something called The reason
drunk kids here. So I'm just going
to come in here and I'm gonna go to drum kits, peaches, and I'm going to
go to produce a Keats. And I'm going to
choose the first one. And I'm just going to
minimize this for now. Alright, so if I can come
in here and start pressing, you can see now that we
are actually getting input right here in, in Reaper. Alright? But what we wanna do is we want to have a
little bit of control. So I'm just going to
come here to show devices and I'm going
to click right here. Alright, so with this drum kits, you can see we go the
kick, the snare, this now, but I'm Tom three, Tom, tom one, hi-hats,
tambourine, overheads. And we also have the room mic, which is called ambiance here and will go the
clip in this Snape. Alright, so we want
to round all these, okay, so to begin with, I'm just going to come in here and I'm just going
to right-click and say Insert multiple tracks. So I'm just going to come
in here and do that. And probably I can say 12. I'm not sure I'm in there. Let's see here. This is channel number
is channel number 12. So we need, we need
to cough tricks. So I'm just going to come
in here and here's your K. Alright? And with
all these selected, I'm just going to
right-click right here on the record button. And I'm just going
to come in here and I'm going to
say input to none. So we don't want to
trigger enemy do this. Alright, so we're going
to be recording or our midi information
right here, okay? And we just need these to
receive the information. So I'm just going to
look here on the mix and I'm just going to
start naming these things. Okay, so I'm going to
start with the kick. Alright, so we got snare and
I'm just going to copy this. Alright? And I'm just going to
paste it down here and I'm just going to say bottom. Alright, I'm gonna
come down here. The next one is tone. And I'm just going to copy it. And I'm just going to
say three there, okay? And I'm going to come in here and I'm going to say Tom two. You can see we got Tom to
here and we also got Tom one. Alright. Perfect. And I'm going to come here, we've got a high heads, Alright, so I'm just going to go high. It's alright. And we got tumble run, tumble R3, and we
got overheads now, so I'm just going to
use caps for this. So with my shift key selected, I'm just going to go over
our heads like that. Alright, then I'm
gonna come in here. The next one should
be a room mics. So it's called ambiance there. So you might call it ambiance or whatever you can call it. I'm going to call it
rho max. Alright. And we got the clip. Clip. Okay? And we got to the, what is it, this name. Alright. Okay, so we want to come here to the reason Rick plug-in
here and we want to collapse it down
a little bit and make sure that you
disable these things. Otherwise, we will
not be able to hear this sound if these
things are red. Okay? So you want to come here and flip this right here, alright? And we want to take
these cables out. So just disconnect
those two carbons here. If you hover your mouse over the fixed connection there you can see it's a retained
connected to kick EQ. Alright, so I'm
just going to take this and I'm going to
put it on one. Alright? Okay. And if I hit my, my kick here, you can see
still coming out here. We want the audio to come here. Alright, so we just need
to come here to route. Actually, before we do that, we need to come here
to the reason or EQ plug-in and we'll click root. We just want to
disable must ascend. And you want to come here to
trick channels and probably you want to put it to 32
or something like that. Alright. And then you can come here now to the kick
and let's rotate it. You can see now these
normal audio output normal. Now, you want to come
here with return receipts and you'll want to come and
choose the reason plugin. Alright, and you want to come
in here where it's written, or do you want to change it to smaller source because
the kick is in mono, so I'm just gonna put
it on one, alright? And I'm just going
to disable this, and I'm just going to put
these two prefer to arise. So you can see now that the
kick is actually good to go, then we're going to
come to this name. Alright? And this is
actually right here. So you can see now
is region snare. So I'm just gonna put
it on to our right. And if I hit this name, you can hear it,
but you can see it. So we need to come here
and do the same thing. So come in here, a reason rig plug-in, alright. And monocytes come to, to midi Channel
nine and preferred. Okay. Then you can heat, now your snare and you can
see it's coming out on two. So we've got the kick,
the snare, right? Then we continue going, will come to the snare bottom. And I think this should
be the snare bottom. Alright? So we're gonna
put it on three, alright? And snare bottom. Okay, you can see
there's nothing there. So you want to come
here and you'll want to come to
reason rake plugin. And you'll want to
come to monitor sauce. I think we own three now, okay. And we want to put this to none, and let's choose this to prefer. Okay? And now you can see we've got
this snare bottom though. It sounds a little bit the same, but we got it there. Alright, then we're going to
come here to the fourth one, which is the Tom three. So I'm going to put
it on a fall here. So I'm just going to come
in here and alright, and I'm just going to come
in here, reason, rank. And actually it's connected on false or are we just going
to go Mona sauce and fall and list the activate these turn-on or
right and prefer. Okay. Then if we can heat now you can see we've got Tom
three coming in here. Alright. Okay, perfect. Then let's come to tom to now. So this should be
TOM to yesterday's. So I'm going to put
it on five. Alright? And I'm going to come
to tom to routing. And we're going to come
back to reason reg plugin. And we're going to come here monocytes and we're
going to come to five. Alright, endless. Just activate all
this stuff here. Alright? And you can see now if I
press a on my keyboard, I think we'll be able
to get Tom number two. So Tom number three is on G. Term number two is actually
on the a key on my keyboard. Alright, so that's the
mapping that we have there. Alright, let's keep on moving. So what is this? This is Tom one. So we're going to put it on six. You see how simple
this thing is. Then you're going
to come here to your routing here
configurations. And you'll want to put these two Reason Rack
plugin and you want to put these 26, alright? Okay, and let's deactivate this. And let's put this
to prefer that, and let's try that. So Tom one should be
on C. Here we go. So we've got 21 there, Tom and Tom three, so these are sorted. Then we're going to come here. What is this? This is hi hits, so I'm gonna put it on seven. Alright, so let's come here to the high hats and
less configured. So Reason Rack plug-in and we've got it on
seven. Is that right? Yeah, I suppose so. Alright, then we're going to
come here and it's on seven. And if I can hit my head, I should be able to
hear my hi-hats. Alright. You can hear the highest
coming through there. Alright, let's go to this
one and this is tumbling. Let's see. If we get it right. We should be able to
get Tumbler in there. So I'm just going
to put it on nine. I'm going to put it
on eight actually. Alright. And we're going to come
here to tambourine. And I'm just going to come
in here and reason Rick. And let's put it to mono
channel number eight. And we're going to
deactivate these guys here. And we're going
to say pre-fader. And we're going to say, yeah, that's basically
what we need to do. And if I look for
my temporary now, actually on the F sharp key
I think is the shops C2. Guess, salt on F-sharp. Alright, so we go to
Tumbler in working there. And the next one is
the overheads are, this is very simple. Alright, so let's take this one and you'll get
another connection there. So over iodine studio. So we have to put them on 910. Alright, so I'm just
going to come in here and I'm just
going to come in here. And the reason lake plug-in and let's put it on
studio source this time. We're gonna go 910, alright, and we're going to just deactivate this and
put it on prefer. Alright, so if I can come
in here and he'd something, you can actually see
that the overheads actually coming out right here. Okay, so we got the
overheads done there. And let's go for this one. Should be romantic. So I'm going to take
it from here to 11 and take the other
cable then to 12th. Alright, so rho max
should be on 11th, 12th. Okay, So here we go, reason Rick plug-in and 11th, 12th, Alright, live in 12 here. And let's put this to
none and pre fader here. Alright, so if I
can come back here, you can actually
see that the room Mike's is also a waking here. And we're going to
come to the claim of week this should
be the swan on 13. Yeah, Good. Another cable here. So 1314, we're going
to have the clip and we're going to come
here and do this around. I'm just doing
everything so that you can be able to see everything. Alright, so that's
1314, I guess. And we're going
to put it to none and preferred or right here. Alright, so we got the clip, I think, ways to play piano. It's on inflate, okay? D-sharp, whatever you
can call it, E-flat. Alright, so that's the clip. Then we are moving to the snip. The last one, last one, I guess we're gonna put it on 15 and we take the bottom
cable and we'll put it on 16. And we're going to
come right here. And we're going to say
reason wreck plugin. And we're going to put it
on Studio Source 1516. And we're going to
say nine to this, and we're going to
say, prefer to write. And we got to look now for
what is this name right here. This is actually on inflate. Inflate three, I guess. Three. Alright, so after
you have done this, you just want to make sure that you will have a template set. Alright, so you want to come
here to do the trick manager and you want to deactivate all these things are at the end. You can remain with this. So you can rename
these to probably live drums or live drunk key
to whatever you can call it. Alright, so I'm just
going to copy this name, okay, control C to copy it. Alright, And when I come
here and I am going to go to project templates and I'm just going to say
Save templates is, and I'm just going to
paste it here, alright, and I'm just going to save
it in here so you can save it to another location
as well if you wish to, then you can open it from there. So that's not a big deal. Alright, so if I can
come in here and now, and I can actually
say New Project, alright, and say no
to those changes. Then you can see I've got
a blank new report file. So I'm going to come
in here to File. And I'm going to come in
here and I'm going to say project templates and I'm going to come to live drum kit. And that should come, right? And if I can activate
all the stuff, then you can be able to
see that we asked to sit. Alright? Okay. Okay, so that's basically
it in terms of routing live drums right here in Reaper using their reason
or Rick plug-in. Alright, so I'll see you
in the next lecture.
15. Routing song recording : Okay guys, welcome back to the course and we're going to be taking a look at how
to program one song. So to begin with, I'm going to delete
all these grand pianos and all the sugars right here. So I'm just going to come here
and to remove everything. Then if you can come here
to the trach manager, you can be able to see
that we got the kicks, the drums, so we just
go the drum set. This is exactly how
I want it to be. I'm not going to activate
all these guys for now. I'm going to keep
them deactivated. Okay. I'll come here to surveys
and I'm going to call it, I'm going to call it,
you are faithful in song that we're gonna
be doing is called you. You are faithful. Fav for. Okay, perfect. Then I save it on my desktop and I come
to the rewire booster. You go to FX browser
and you say Lord slave. Then you gotta go and
look for that song. You are faithful radio on my
desktop and I'll open it so that every time you
open this project, even after you have
finished recording it, repo automatically open
that file for you. I'm going to save it right now. Save. And I'm going to
call it you fave four. Okay? And I'm gonna put
it right on my desktop. And it's going to create is
going to create what is it, a subject or a sub
directory for me. So I'm going to just hit Save. Okay. Let me hate mail
your elbows stuff for now. Okay. I go to the mixer, so I have to activate to arm the reason host. So we're going to
record the drums right now faced free fall. Okay guys. Now we're going
to be recording the piano. So we're going to use
conduct for the piano. So I'm going to put my
conduct piano here. We need to make sure that,
uh, you just come here to your conduct hosts and make sure that you are
unchecked the master there, and make sure that
you got 32 or 64, whatever you can put. We have done this already. We've come here to the record and make sure that you
got none right there. Okay, so I create a
new trick right here, and I'm going to call it piano. Piano. And I'm gonna do this very quickly because we
have done it already. Then I will come to these sounds and I'm going to look
for an acoustic piano, C. And I'm going to put it in
acoustic piano right there, okay, and it's on a studio one. Then I'm going to come here
to configure this guy, amit, and make sure that
you've got input, meat or meat inputs or channels. Then we will go to the conduct routing and I'm
going to send it to use it. I'm going to send it to conduct. And I'm going to
deactivate the audio. I'm going to put it on
channel one right here. Then I'm gonna go
to conduct as well. And I'm going to receive it
on 12 is already set, right. Then we're going to say none. And we're going
to say pre-fader. Okay, so we're done and we
got in piano right there. So we're gonna just
recorded right now. Okay. Are you ready? Okay guys, that was the piano. Okay. The idea is just to give you an idea of how
these things are done, we are not making
something perfect. I just want to show you something
that is very important. Okay, so let's go for
the best right now. Okay? We're going for
the base, alright, and I'm going to look for the
bass instrument right here. Let me use J Bayes. And I'm going to use this guy. Alright, let's see, let's see, let's see It's
loading right now. Okay. Alright, so
we need to make sure that this guy is set
to studio to like that, okay, so he's going to be
coming through this channel. We have already done that. Then we come here to the routing section
and we're going to send it to our
conduct instrument. And the audio we want to set
it to none end on the media. We're going to send
it to channel two. Then we go to receive conduct. Then we're going to say studio. We once TV or 34 right here because it's
going to be on this channel. That's 34 right there. And we're going to set
the media to none. We're going to send this
guy to prefer that. We are already good to go. We on it, alright? Okay, then we have
to make sure that the media is coming
through right here. Meet input. Alright,
effects. Are we ready? Here we go. Okay, perfect. So we got our base here. We can come to a mixer here and we can see what's
going on there. Okay, So let's add some streaks. Alright. We're going to cause these. We're going to add
strings right here. And we just need to make sure
that we change this to me. All right. And let's just
configure it quickly. So we got to conduct and we
need not audio right here. We're going to send me, and we're gonna put it
on channel three. And we're going to go
to conduct right here. And we need t or we're going
to put it five-sixths. And we need no midi input,
output, input there. So we're going to
send it to preferred. Okay, so we're done with this. Then we're going to open
the conduct itself. And we're going to be editing. They see, we're going to be
adding these three things. They see you guys on strings right here or here,
this strings. Okay? Then let's try
these strings here. Okay, so we're gonna put
them on channel three. We already set up so we should be able to
hear the strings. Okay, We are recording
now. Here we go. Okay, okay guys, that's it. And now we're going to be adding at least it
did lead, lead. And I think that's the
last thing that we're here because that's the last thing that we're going
to be adding here. So we're going to add
lead lists me rooted even before I either lead because
I know it's going to work. So I got to conduct
right here and we're going to
deactivate the audio. Then we're going to come
here and we're going to use channel are we on three, so we go into channel four. Then we come here
to conduct receive. We're going to go to
steal your source. And on Channel
four, we go to 78. So we're gonna go 78 right here. And we're going
to say Nan, okay, and we're going to
say prefer that just in case that we
might have noises. We're done. Then
we got to come to this section and we
look for a lead. Actually, let's get
a lead from here. And we're going to go for
this guy right here, alright? And I'm going to change
it to three or four. Yeah, So here we go. Perfect. And I'm going
to close it because I'm not going to come back again. Alright, so we need to
make sure that we, um, this guy and makes you on
media sit isn't. Alright. Perfect. So we're going to be doing the lead right now and I'm just
going to decrease. So are you ready? Okay. Okay. Okay, guys, that was missed this C-sharp
there, right there for you. So as you can see here, we have used reason for all our drums and now we have used conduct for all our sins. Okay, So this is
basically the idea. The Lord is faithful AND
faithful ones in faith for you shouldn't be having these costs right in
front of your eyes. But because of the faithfulness
of the Lord, You got it. So we are done in terms
of this recording. And what I'm gonna do
right now is I am going to show you now what you do if
you have to go into mixing. And remember, we're going to be bringing more tutorials for you. So just keep watching. Please subscribe. Then. You'll be able to get an update of an annual
cost coming through your way. Okay, so I'm going to take this whole project and
I'm going to go to File. And I'm going to
say Save is again. Alright, I'm gonna say
service and I'm going to say you fave full. And I'm going to call it mix. Okay. Perfect. So I'm going to call it
mix just like that. Okay, so what do
we need to do now is we need to make
sure that we bounce all these things into
wave before we mix. If we run into a problem, we have to go back to
our, to our project. That's why you need
to make sure that you save as a mix, okay? Otherwise, if
something goes wrong, then you will not
be able to go back. So we're going to balance
everything right now. Let's start by bouncing our, our piano scenes and all
these kind of things. Alright, so we have to come to our piano and select
everything that is, does this till your
format, you know, base is mono, so we're
going to keep it as mono. So we're going to
select the piano, strings and the lead. The lead is going to
be morning as well. So we're going to select
the piano and the strings. Then we're going to go to, we are going to go to freeze
or render three-strikes. And we got to freeze tricks
to t. And we do that wanting some selected text me sent sum from one
to that's okay. So we just going to say yes. Okay, guys, so we have managed to render our tricks. Okay. It's audio. Okay, so that's
all you just need to do. You just need to come here. If you have a mid data, just come here and go
to Render free streaks. If it's a base, then make sure that you
freeze tricks to mono, then you can be able to
have in audio like this. So I'm just going to
play it one more time so that you can hear
that nothing changed. Everything is to
enter the same thing. You can see everything is still the very same way
that we didn't. It was me. Okay. That's it. And the
reason why you have to mix this way is because
when you are using meet, it becomes a hard time
for the program to calculate everything that is
happening within the media. They sustain us and all
those kind of things. But once you bounce it to audio, then you actually
free space for. Your computer processing, then you'll be able to
hear the perfect sound. Otherwise with
meat, they sound a little bit triggered
at a different time, then it might not sound
right in terms of mixing. So now we need to
make sure that we separate these drums
that are heavier. So we need to separate
the drums so that they'll be able to
stand in individually. Channels is audio so that
we can be able to mix them. So to do that, we need to come back here to the trach manager and make sure that the
reason host to Hugo, the kick activated all
the way to this NAPL, all the way down. We are not using snips, so we can actually take it off while whoever
we are not using, we can make sure
that they are off. Okay? Alright, so this is
what we have right now. So we need to select
all these tricks again, all the way up to here. So all these guys, they're going to be in mono. So you right-click here on the, on one of these
select by clicking. And then you hold down shift to the new
select all of them. Then you click, then you'll
go to Record output and make sure that you come here to waste written
record output mono. So you'll click right there. Then we have to come in,
configure the overheads. So come to the overheads
and ambiance and you right-click and you
say record output, and this one's going
to be Cheerio. Alright, let's see
record output. This is going to be
stereo. Perfect, right? So what do we need to do now
is we need to make sure that we we bring this
to the beginning. And all we just need to do
is to hit the record button, then everything will
be recorded as audio. Okay, watch out. Okay, guys, so that's it. And this is how we go about
recording these things. Okay, So this is
All You Need guys in terms of programming, a songwriting Reaper,
use the reason, rewire for my drums. Then I used conduct for all the sins that we
played into the song. So you can choose
whether you want to use a reason in your
project entirely, or you want to use conduct
or alone entirely. Or you can use things like addictive drums for your drums, or you can use the PDR
drops for your drums. They knew when it comes to C and then you can use conduct. So you got the option to
do whatever you want. So that's it for me guys. Keep on learning, keep
on practicing and make the best music ever.
