1. Creating the loops
Depending on what size of beads you choose, determines how big around the loop will need to be. If you create the loop and then find that the bead doesn't fit inside, don't stress! Simply straighten the wire and re-bend the wire to fit the bead. (I had to do this too)
Remember that you need to fit the bead plus the wire used to attach the bead in the loop. Make sure to account for this when creating the loops.
2. Wrapping the spiral
Keep in mind that jewelry wire has a bit of spring in it when it's wrapped. To help get the ring size you want, wrap the wire on a mandrel that is a step down in size. You can also simply tighten the shape with your fingers and pull the wire closer together. Be aware that changing the tightness/size of the ring will move the position of the loops closer or further apart.
3. Adding the beads
Make sure that the bead plus the 22 gauge wire will fit inside the loop you created.
Once you have secured the bead on to the ring, you can shift the orientation of the bead by sliding the wrappings around the loop. Once you have it in the position you like, use your chain-nose pliers to tighten down the wrapping so that it can't move.
Upload and share a picture of your finished ring!
Below I have attached a file where I have collected links for all the items you would need for this tutorial. Once you click on the link, it will show up in your files in the "recent downloads" tab.
Remember, making mistakes is part of the process! Don't be discouraged if your project doesn't turn out the way you want it to the first time. Keep at it, and you will get better with practice!
Have fun and keep creating!
See you next time!
