1. Class Introduction: Hey, what's up Skillshare and welcome to super-fast motion editing in Premiere Pro. If you've taken any of my classes before, you know that I'm predominantly teaching in Illustrator or with a little bit in Photoshop, couple of little things, but I am a graphic designer and illustrator, so I don't usually work into the video editing and stuff except for, that's how I've been making classes for five years. I've got actually a little bit of experience in this thing. Up until now, when I was making Skillshare videos, I would often have a slide like this one here. I will show that at the beginning of each little video, each segment of my class, so each topic, I would cover, I would have this slide showing. But the problem was, in order for me to do that, I made it in After Effects. I'd have to have After Effects open while I'm editing in Premiere Pro, which takes a little bit more RAM, little more memory, and then, every time I wanted to make a slide, I'd open After Effects and have to make sure I opened the file that has the slides. Then, I'd have to type in what I actually wanted the slide to say. Then, I'd have to save that, render it and export it, and then I have to put that file in the folder and bring it in Premiere Pro and then import it and I'd have to do that like ten times, 20 times. It was driving me nuts, until I found something called the Essential Graphics Panel, which has changed my workflow. It's super-useful. So, basically using the Essential Graphics Panel, I can set my file out one time in After Effects, save it, export the essential graphics thing, done. Close after-effects. Theoretically never open it again. Now every time I make a Skillshare class, I use Premier Pro, I open the Essential Graphics Panel and I just drag it in and then from there, I can simply just type the new text, done. That fast. I don't ever need to even open After Effects. Don't worry if you're not comfortable in After Effects, we're going to show you how to easily make a little lower thirds thing where it says your name like this. But if you're not comfortable with that, I'm going to give you the file anyway, so, you can just forget about it. You don't even need to open After Effects if you don't want to. But it's good to learn because that's what makes this class so useful. Once you know how to make it an After Effects, you're done. It's something that you're going to use over and over again. It will just be in Premier Pro and it'll be really easily editable. It'll save you tons of time - super speed up your workflow. There are times that I just didn't even want to make slides. There are times I didn't want to mess with lower thirds. There are times where I just didn't want to mess with any motion graphics because it took too long. Now, I set it up once and I can use it over and over for a bunch of different reasons. I also have a mountain biking channel where I make these little trail heads at the bottom and I put the different trail name and that was the same idea. I actually wasn't going to do it and I didn't do it for the first few videos because I thought I'd have to render and export and do all that nonsense every time. But I was wrong and said, I just made this little thing and essentially graphics. Now, every time, I just drag it in and I'll show you how to use a couple of sliders, type in the text, done. Essentially, graphics is the best. So, if you're interested in the central graphics, I don't see why you wouldn't be if you used Premier Pro, make sure you keep watching. Let's get started.
2. Really Cool Examples: To start with, what I want to do, is show you what this class is all about, how the essential graphics panel works. Here I have this slide that I made in After Effects along time ago. Let's just play it right there. Line one here, line two there, and you can't see this texture that turns on and off and adds a little bit of variance to the background. Now, as I mentioned before, I used to have to do a million steps. So for the sake of it, just to drive home this point, what I used to do, open up, "Aftereffects", and I'm going to an old class. Here is my last class, and as you can see, I've got all this different stuff set up. What I used to do is, I could make a new thing. So I go up to here, I've already got all these different ones like they say different things. What I used to do is I would either, "Copy", and then, "Paste", that and then give it a new name. let's just call this one, "really cool example", and we're going to, "double-click", it. Move over to here and double-click this and put it into, really cool example. so that would be my slide. I now change that. Then what I would have to do is go to export, add to render queue, get rid of those. Then I will pick where to save this, which would just be my desktop, and then I, "Click", Render, then go into Premier Pro and then I would import it, go to the desktop, and technically moves the file into where I need it to be. Import it, wait for it to import, grab it, drag it and then I would have to either, 10, five, 10, 15, potentially times just over and over and over again. I did that for every class for a couple of years and that drove me insane. If there's anything you've learned from watching any of my classes, if you have, seen any of them before, is that I'd like to save time. I don't like doing tedious things over and over again. I found the essential graphics panel. It blew my mind. Now all I have to do I can go along anywhere in here just so I can see this text. I've got the essential graphics panel open. I can type in here. Really cool hit, "Enter", come down here, go example, hit, "Enter", done. I already did it, no rendering and that's it. That's how fast it is now it's so easy. Then just to go really crazy, if you want to make it match a different design, If you have a different sort of theme going on, just like that, you can really easily change the text, change the color, and change everything, and it just takes a couple seconds. From there, if you'd like that, you can just grab it hold Option and will keep the same color scheme that you already just had there. You can just type your next text. That's how easy it is to just make another slide in this project. How did this ever start to save me a ton of time? That's why I wanted to make this entire class to show how easy it is. Of course, there's other ways to use it. There's these lower thirds titles like this that shows my name, and once again, if I, "Click" it, you'll see in a central graphics I can change everything. So I'll go over that more later in the class. But that's another example of just mess around with the colors. You can change the fonts, and this is a more complicated thing where I was going to do a YouTube, maybe a YouTube comment or said something I read when they say it. But this is just a really cool, fast way to sort of show their comment rather than just take a screenshot of my desktop. So stuff like that, it's just really easy. This is the trail marker once does not sound, but you can see if it's a green trail, I just hide, drag the blew down the single block, double block and we'll say that's the name of that trail. Just like that, I've got this trail name whenever I'm mountain biking and I can have a whole bunch of instances of that really fast and easy to edit. Now that you get an idea of what this is and how it works, let's go in and start making one.
3. Lower Thirds Title Design: Now it's time to jump into After Effects and actually make your animation, make your motion graphics and in this case, a lower third title. If you're uncomfortable with After Effects, I understand. I'm actually going to supply you with this file anyway so you can just play around with it. But this is going to be geared towards an intermediate who has used After Effects a few times, or at least they're somewhat comfortable with how to use it, but didn't know about the essential graphics. But I'm also going to show just how to make it so that if you are a beginner, hopefully you can follow along. It will be too complicated, so we're going to make a fairly simple one. But it'll show the overall idea of essential graphics, and then I'll show my more complicated motion graphics in Premier, and just how far you can take the essential graphics panel. Without further ado, let's jump into After Effects. We are in After Effects and we have a new file open. We also needed a new composition, so go to Composition and click New composition. We're going to give it a title, we will call this LowerThirdsTitle. You don't have to play with advanced or 3D render, we're just clicking basic and we're going to select a preset that applies to us. So it depends basically on what videos you're making, what resolution you have been using. But it makes sense to try and make this the same as what you usually use. So for example, when I'm filming mountain bike videos, I usually use 4K at 30 frames per second, but when I'm doing sketcher classes, I usually just do 10AP, 24 frames per second. We're going to want to use the same. We can scale this up in Premier Pro, but it makes lot more sense if we just leave it the same. That's all it can be left, you can leave the lock aspect ratio, square pixels is all good, full resolution, start and duration. So we can make this whatever we want. We'll go 100 frames and we will go ahead and click Okay. Now just to see what that converts to, if we go over here, we can Command click or Control click and that'll show the seconds, so it's a little over four seconds. We can change that later on if that's not what we want. So we're going to command click it again, so we're just in frames. Now, it made the gray background, I skipped over that for a second. It doesn't matter. The background makes no difference because we don't want a background when we actually export this thing. In order to do that, you're just over here, you'll see toggled transparency, you'll see there's no background, because we want to lay this graphic on top of actual video footage in Premier. So the background doesn't matter too much. Then turn this toggle print transparency grid off for now because I find these checker patterns annoying to look at. I just leave it gray, find that just a little easier to look at. So I do have essential graphics opened, I had everything set to default. If I can click Window, you can see what I have checked, if you want to make sure that your screen looks fairly similar to mine, it doesn't really matter if panels are moving around. But basically just so you can get to more or less the same stuff that I have open is best for you. So what we want to do to start with is, we want to try and make this easy and simple. But I like to make sure that it's not going to fall off. So if we go over here, we will choose grading guide options, and we'll go title/action safe area. So this makes sure that depending on the viewer and depending on what screen they're looking at, your text doesn't actually get cut off. So we want to make it somewhere in here. You'd be real safe in here and then you know it's never going to get cut off. But I'll play a little bit on the dangerous side, because I think it looks funny if you're motion graphics are way up here floating in the middle of space. So I'm just going to use the rectangular tool, it's over here in the top left, and I'm going to drag this out, just roughly like so. Then now that we have that there, I don't like to see this grid all the time, so I'm clicking it and that'll hide it. Now, we can change the fill and I'm actually going to make it black. The reason why I'm even doing this, you don't even need this, it's just to really make sure that my text shows up on the video footage, because if there isn't a background color or like this or something along these lines, then if my text is white and I'm filming a really light video, it's going to be hard to see it. So in this case, I'm just adding a background block just to make sure that the text shows up nice and cleanly. Now another thing I don't like is that this pan is way over here. So if we go over to this tool, the pan behind, I want to make sure that my anchor point is actually there. Sometimes it will pop up over into this section. So you want to make sure that you select it, and click it, and drag it into the center, or drag it where you want everything work from or go off like that there. I don't like it in the middle of the air. I find that annoying. So that is the first thing that we want set up and I actually want a couple of these. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to call this Background Color. So now that we have that set up, that's our background color. Now, there's going to be a little convoluted, it's hard to explain exactly what I'm thinking, but I'm going to do it and if you follow along, you'll understand shortly. So with that selected, I'm going to go Command C, and Command paste. This is going to be a mask in which our text shows up from. So I want to have my name. So I'm going to put name, mask rectangle, and then I'm copying, pasting it again, and again we're going to right-click, rename, and I'm going to call this Title Mask Rectangle. For the sake of it, rather than name first and then title, and the background, that all make sense. So right now we're just going to hide those two rectangles. We don't really need to see them. Then what we're going to do is, one last time we're going to copy that original background and we're going to paste it, and we're going to drag this one all the way to the top, right-click, and we're going to rename this. We're going to call this Thin Line, Thin Line's fine. So basically, I'm going to have a line that comes across here, and then goes back and that will reveal the name. It's going to hang out here for a second, come back across, hide the name, and then disappear off the screen. It just gives it a cool little animation that's a little more complicated than what you could do in Premier Pro, and it makes using the essential graphics seem more useful anyway. So in order to make this a thin line, I'm just simply going to drag in, and get that roughly where we want it, something like that, and then I'm going to zoom in. I'm just using my trackpad to zoom. You can use your mouse or whatever you have, or you can go over here and change the scale. I want this bar to go to just a little bit past that bar. That's just a visual look that I want. I'm going to go up here, and I'm going to change that fill to white. We just want to make sure our pan point, everything's there. So go back to fit. So all of that's looking nice. Now with this thin line, I actually want to start over here a little bit I think. I think I want just a little off to the edge, just like that. The basic thing you want to do when using After Effects is have your design setup the way you like it first, and then you worry about the animation. If you start messing around with animation, it gets a little complicated, especially if you are new. So the next thing we're going to do is go up here and hit the Type tool, and in this case, I'm just going to type my name, and I'm going to select it, I'm going to make the text white, and I have the Character panel open here, again, if you had a window, you just want to make sure character is checked so that you can see this stuff. Helvetica New's fine. I'm going to leave my first name in light italic, and my last name I'm going to make it bold italic, and then I'm going to drag it in here somewhere, I want this snap around, and blow it up. I'm just using my arrow keys to move it around. Then I'm going to copy, paste this as we've been doing, and I'm going to put graphic designer. I'm just going to shrink down this text, something like that. Nice and easy. Again, I'm assuming that you've used After Effects a few times if you're getting into this workflow world. Now there's ways to make sure that things are perfectly aligned and so on, but in the interest of not making the cost super long, and being able to focus more on a central graphics, we're not going to go too crazy with my new share all this different stuff. So that's basically what I want. I wanted to show that as I showed my title, and then it's going to fade away.
4. Lower Thirds Title Animation: Now we get into the animation point. I have something in my head it's just hard to explain, but basically, whenever I start doing this I just start playing around. I have an idea of what I want to do, and I figure out how to make it happen. The first thing that comes to mind for me is this line. I'm thinking that around maybe roughly 10 frames, we're going to say hit "Transform" here. I want the position to land where it is, but at zero frames I can actually add another keyframe right over here. I actually want that to be off-screen, so I'm going to drag it just off the edge of the screen, so that when I hit Space here which plays, it comes in. Now I actually don't want it to go straight there, that seems too simple to me. I'm going to add a keyframe halfway in between, and that is going to go right, basically to the edge of this black bar. It's going to go all the way over there first, and then it's going to come back to the left. Something like that, it's a little fast but I like that. Let's not mess around. Now, maybe we're getting a little crazier, here is a 5, 6, 7, and if that's seven we want this at about 14. Let's see where that lands. That feels a bit better. Now, if we select these and we right-click on them, we can go to "Keyframe Assistant", and make them easy ease, and that just smooths things out a little. Yeah, it's looking good. I got some motion blur, looking good. Now I want to make the black bar follow that. We're going go down to our black background here and hit "Transform" then, we may as well, actually leave that thin line open so we can see where those movements are. We know here we're starting off the board, here we're right at the edge. At that point, I want the black to be exactly where it is. I'm going to come down here and I'm going to click the "Position", there's a little stopwatch beside it that adds a key frame. Now I'm going to go over here, and I'm going to add another position keyframe, and I'm going to drag it just off the art board. Now, hopefully, we want those to follow each other a lot closer than what they're doing here. So probably the best thing to do is to drag this over, so I can see what's happening over here. I'm going to select our white bar and we're just going to see where it's at. So it's there, it's coming in to right here. We got our black bar here. I'm going to make these easy, ease as well and that will make sure that they sync up nice and well. So make sure you have them both set to easy ease. Now, what happens is that black bar follows the white bar in, then it stays, the white bar comes across to here, so we have that at 14. I think for ease of math, we're going to just make it 15, I'll just drag it over one. So that's at 15. Now we have a 100 keyframes, so if we go to 15 here, then that is going to be at about 85, just right here. That means that I'm going to copy this keyframe from 15, and I'm going to paste it at 85. Basically, from here to here, I don't want it to move. Now you can see it's wiggling around, and I'll show you how to fix that, but then right here at about seven frames, so that is 93. I'm going to paste that over there, so that, that goes all the way back to there, and then right when it gets back to 99 or 100, we're going to add another keyframe, and that will copy what we had here. So go right to the end, paste it. Basically, that white bar pops in, you can see it's wiggling and it shouldn't be, I'll show you how to fix that. It goes back, it goes across. To stop it from wiggling, we're going to select this keyframe here, and this keyframe, the space between where it's wiggling, and we're going to go to "Keyframe Interpolation", and it says Continuous Bezier. It's basically making this line, it's making it wiggle around, it shouldn't do that. Click, "Linear", click "Okay" and now that thing is not moving, that's what we want. It was distracting. It comes in, swipes over there, it stays, and then it's going to swipe back, and then go off the screen. We're looking good. I know I'm moving fast, but that's the name of the game. So we're going to go back here, we're pasting this so make sure our keyframe, so it's not moving, the black bar is not moving the whole time. It looks good, and then we want to paste this over at 99. Once again, the black part comes in with the white line, they both chill out here, then the white line goes across, takes the black bar with it off the page. So that's looking pretty good. I think that we got the white bar and the black background doing what we want, now we just need to make the text work. What I'm going to do, is I'm going to take my name, and I'm going to put it to the top layer. Actually our thin line should always be the very top layer for the sake of it. So then my name is the second one, I want this mask just above it, and I want this title mask just above the graph designer title. What we want to do here, basically, is I don't actually want this text to move, I want it to stay exactly where it is, but I want it to be invisible until the line goes back across it. In order to do that, we leave the text as is, and we're actually going to mess with these name mass rectangles. I'm going to select this and just for the time being, we're going to go over here to the fill. We'll just pick a weird fill so that we are really focused on what the mask is. Now if we open up this thin line here, we're going to see it's basically going to be similar to the rectangle. At this point, I want basically as this line comes all the way across to here, I want the text to be invisible. So if I go over to transform, I want my line, if I select this here, I don't want it to be visible until basically this point. I'm going to add my position right there, so from here to here, it's over here, and then as we bring that line back across the box, all the way across, then I want this line to follow it. In order to do that, I will grab it and I'll drag it back across, basically to right where it was again, and that is where we have our position marker, but we want it to follow, see it's not following. For one thing, we wanted to make sure that this is also easy ease. This is something you don't have to do by the way, the whole easy ease thing, but if you're going to do it on one of them, we need to make sure it's all the way, so that follows. As you can see, it's not actually following the line perfectly, and the reason for that is because this line goes beyond this box, but my box is only so big. I'm actually going to make this box a little bit bigger, and because I don't have a scale, it's not going to throw everything crazy off. I'm going to make this box about this big, but when I go back to here, I'm going to have to move that box. So I want that box to be there, and then now it should follow that line nice and smoothly. So just like that basically, and that is a rectangle. What we want is our name mask to follow this line back out. So right here we want it to be in the same spot, which should be exactly where this line was. So put that at 85, we're pasting it on this layer, and then right when we get to here, we want it to be in the same spot as well. We're going to hit that position, which should be right there. We click that, copy that, paste it. I was having an issue there for a minute, where it wasn't following for some reason, even though it was lined up exactly the same. All I did was re-select all of these keyframes. I right-clicked "Keyframe Assistant", went easy ease, and then selected all of these, and basically just easy eased them all over again, and it is now working. So that follows it, stays there, and then it follows it out. I want it to stay exactly off the side just like it's doing there. So that all works pretty good, so that is our name rectangle and then that's good. All we had to do, I could delete it actually the title rectangle, because we just want to copy this name rectangle its command C, or Control C, and then paste it, and we can just put that above the title. So we're going to call this one Title Mask Rectangle. Now, all we need to do, and we can hide that, because that one's technically already set up as alpha, and then if we go to graph designer, we just go over here and we want the alpha mask like that. Make sure that the graph designer is checked in this case or whatever you wrote there, and basically we should have this all working here. Where it comes in, reveals the name, waits a second, swipes out, takes the name, and all that stuff, so there you go. That's a cool little quick animation that you can customize or play with. I do want to save this, I should have saved it sooner, but I didn't. I'm just going to call this Lower Thirds Title, and I will share that file with you so that you can play a line. If you had issues keeping up until now, because I know I went fast, then you can take my file and maybe see what maybe you missed or anything that's slightly different between my file and yours. So this will be yours to play with, or if you didn't follow along, you just download this file, I'll allow it. So that's it. We've got the basic thing set up, now we get to do the fun stuff, which is understanding how the essential graphics works, and how it's going to save us a ton of time moving forward.
5. Setting Up Essential Graphics: Hey. Now we've got the hard part out of the way. I'll do figuring out all the different animation thing. Especially it's hard if you're a beginner or someone like me, it's obvious. I just plays around in it, but it's time to have fun and get into the essential graphics. Technically, maybe the animation was fun in the essential graphism. It depends on what you think is cool, I just love sacred time and boy does the essential graphics too. Let's take a look here. I have my essential graphics panel, open one, so I'll just drag over here and we'll make that fit. You just want to go to ''Window'' and then go down to ''Essential Graphics.'' If it's not showing up for you and you drag it over here. You can just move it around by basically grabbing at the top part of that tab and dragging it around. What we want to do is know what can I edit from my animation in the essential graphics panel. There is a trick or two that makes things a little weird, but we're going to go with it. I'm going to save this again. Then over here you see ''Master'' ''Select a Composition. '' You want to hit a ''Lower Third Title.'' What's the name of our composition? Then want to hit ''Solo Supported Properties.'' This is going to show you things that you can change in a sensor graphics. I'm going to look here and under a thin line we want to look at what we want to mess with. It don't really want to mess with the stroke or any of these rectangle things. Basically, none of this stuff. I don't want to be able to change any of that. Premier Pro, I don't want to over-complicate things, but I do want to be able to change the color, so just by grabbing ''Color'' and dragging it in here. Now, what's important is that we click to the left of that and we are going to write the same thing basically as we had here. We'll just call it thin line. That way we know what we can change the color of. Now, I'm just going to hide that layer because I think that's all I want to be able to change in that line. You don't want to overly complicate it. Now, we go to our name mask rectangle, which is a mask. It's invisible anyway, we don't want to change that. We're just going to minimize it and skip right on it to the name. Now, here you want to be able to change a few things. You definitely want to be able to change the source texts. You want to be able to change the name. You drag that up here. We're to call this name text. Just like so. You want to be able to change that. Another thing you want to be able to change is the size or the scale of it. But you don't want to jumping around and getting too insane. If you actually put here the scale, its gets a little complicated with how you're playing with things. You don't really want that overly complicated way. We're just going to undo that, get rid of the scale. One thing we can do is we can go to ''Effect'' and go down and ''Expression Controls'' and then add a slider. Over here you want to just go to the right where it says, scaling on a grab that's pick whip. You want to make sure you're grabbing it from scale. We're going to add it to the slider. Then from there we can just add our slider up into here. Now, as you can see, we can just change the text size. Now, this is giving you the option of going 1-100 percent. But in our case, we wanted that text to even be bigger because zero is a little bit too crazy. If I edit here and my ''Value'', I can decide that I want it to be able to go to 200. I want to start at, let's say, 50 because it doesn't need to start quite so ridiculously small right. Now it's a little too small, but that'll give you some play because different people are going to have different length and names. Then you could add a position control. Because you wanted everything to be center and so on. But that gives you the basic idea. That's what we want for the name. Oh, there's one other thing, color. Unfortunately, you should be able to, in my opinion, just grab this color fill here and drag it in. But for whatever reason at this point, after effects makes that more difficult than it needs to be. I imagine this is something that Adobe is going to fix in the future. I don't see how they couldn't. But for now, we now work around. What we will do is go to ''Effect'', and then we go down to ''Generate.'' We'll click ''Fill.'' Now, as you can see, that automatically adds it. You can find that here under fill and you can find color. We'll just drag that over. It's that easy. Then we will call it name color. I should name this slider of course, to name size. We've got ''Name Text'', ''Name Size'', ''Name Color.'' Boom, boom, boom. We're just going to make that white again. That is it for name. Now, again, we don't want to mess with this mask. We just want to basically do the exact same thing the graph designer. I'll skip ahead and I'll have that done in just a second. We skipped ahead there and we have the same exact same thing as we just did for the name. I did for the title. Nice and easy. Then the last thing is the background, which I think I only want to be able to adjust the ''Color'', that's the ''Stroke.'' We don't want to grab that. We want to be able to have this fill color and basically just be able to adjust that. We want to make it the same thing and we'll just call it background color. Just like that, I'll basically setup. I'm just going to save it. Make sure that you have it all saved. Because it'll save some of that info and now it's really easy to edit it. The easiest way to just check is just clicking here in your ''Essential Graphics.'' Play around with some colors. Do whatever you want. Just make sure that everything is working the way that you're guessing it would. If it does, then you know that you've done everything correctly and that you're ready to move forward. That was the hard stuff. That was all the pain in the butt setup. But the beauty is now you can basically just do this one time and then save it. Theoretically for this purpose, you'll never have to use ''After Effects'' again. We're going to call this skillshare_lowerthirdexample. Obviously, you can call it whatever you want. The key here is just to go to ''Export Motion Graphics Template'' in this bottom right-hand corner. We're going to select that. It's going to bring up this little dialogue on window. I'll say ''Local Drive.'' It's going to tell you where it's going to put it. Put it in ''Premier Pro'' under mogrts, which is just a funny name. Then it's going to tell you about the ''Compatibility'' warned me, blah, blah, blah, blah. Probably just click ''OK.'' It's going to verify fonts. Boom, you're done.
6. Editing Essential Graphics in Premiere: Now that it's finally saved, exported,, we're ready to go, we can close After Effects completely quit that thing, forget about it for now, and go into Premier. We'll do that right now. After Effects is closed, done, dealt with. Go through that. Now back in a Premier Pro, here's that things get a little easier. Get a rat puppy. We got the Essential Graphics open, which once again you just go to Window, Essential Graphics, and we hit Browse. Now I should just show up. I think if you go to All, you can select the folder, and make sure you save it in the right folder. We've click Browse tab then we go, everything is just in alphabetical order. There are some ones that Adobe is made. Depending on what your name, see, they even have basic lower thirds and things like that. If you hold over them, it'll show an animation. You can scroll around. Somewhere down here under S, we should see our file. As you see, there's lots of these, Skillshare here we go. Skillshare lower third example. All we do is drag it in, and it's there, should work start here, press Play. Of course you can't see the black background because it's on a black background. But now, I can go ahead and grab any video files. Just give me a second here. I'm in my motion graphics template. There we go. I just grabbed another, this is just a new video, one of my new mountain bike videos I put on YouTube, so I'm just gonna mute the audio. But as you see here, we've got that one, and here is our new one. If we go back here, and let's just say that I was talking or you see my face, there you go pretty easy. That just shows that works. Now of course, if we click on it, let's just go there. You can now see that here we can type in any name. Just put in there, and then we will put in something along those lines. Of course, if we just wanted back here, it'll play exactly the same as you can see there, nice and easy. Now, I did notice one thing, the last name is not bold for some reason the same as it was in After Effects. Now I don't know exactly what caused that. Might be some font conflict, or something like that, or at least it's certainly not showing as its as bold. Maybe that's a lesson learned, that I should put a space there, and stop that issue. But another thing I can do, of course, is open up After Effects, and take a real quick look at that file and see what I'm missing or whether it's a font issue, I should use a different font, or I can show you one more little thing. Even though we were done with the After Effects, we thought, we've run into an issue. Now we have to figure out what the problem is. An easy way to fix this rather than, want to understand why this font that I have activated is working in After Effects, isn't working in Premier Pro. It's probably easier to allow myself to do more with essential panels. This is a good thing to know, because there's definitely a ton of options as to what you can do with essential graphics. Now if you see next to the name text, if you go ahead and click Edit Properties, you can actually add a lot more stuff that will allow you to customize that font. If you enable custom font selection, enable font size adjustment, and enable font styles. You can add all of those things that you did not use to be able to add the size. Remember we went through all that trouble to add this size slider. That's because up until the brand newest version, you couldn't actually change the size. But now you can, this is a new update. That's the reason why we have this name size. If you have the new update, you have the size. You can now actually get rid of the name size because you have that is scalable in that file. Now, it's not going to allow you to really easily change the font from bold and to not bold on the one thing, so I'd recommend changing your design rather than messing around with that too much. Instead, we'll just make them both the same, and we'll go bold italic for both. That's probably the easier way to do that. You could make this a second layer and then have that editable. But in general, that line's going to want to be able to do one thing. We can do the same exact idea here, and we're going to add these three things. Those, again, we get rid of that. That gives you a little bit of idea of adding more control. Now sometimes you're going to add an extreme amount of control. In that case, we're going to get down in here. You can add comments because the idea is that you can save these MOGRT for sale basically, so that other people can download them. You can give them specific instructions that would add comments. It gives you little comment field, that you can type some things in, or you can add groups to make lines and things a little bit easier to understand. For example, we've got the title color, the title text, things like that line, we could actually, if we wanted to, put those in a group, and just call it Title, then that clean things up a little bit. The same with name, we can make a group, for the name and their name and their call it Name. Just giving you a little bit more option and a little bit more things that you can play around with. I definitely didn't go over everything. We saw when we hit the solo properties, that there's countless things that you can make people adjust. But generally speaking, it's better to keep it easy and not overwhelm yourself, so that, when you're in Premier, you're in here with a thousand things and the panel. I think it makes more sense to try and keep it as streamlined as possible. Another thing, while we're on the topic of fonts and adding all these adjustments, is that we're using Adobe software obviously. We have an Adobe Creative Cloud subscription. Now, if we click these fonts here and we instead filter by show fonts from Adobe, that means that theoretically, when I give you this file, or if you were to transfer this file, or you say one of these MOGRT in for sale, anyone who opens it should be able to easily access any of these fonts, because they are in fact an Adobe font. Of course they may have to add the font from the Adobe's website, but nevertheless, it's a font they should be able to get. We could change this to how slant. If you want to get a little more playful, and then, we should make this probably something. Think for the sake of it, we'll just make it the same way. All the times that I would change that up. But that gives you an idea. Then, the problem is now if we want to try and move these things up and down, that's when you start getting into some trouble because we didn't add those adjustments. I'd leave it something like that. We'll save it, exported again, save over it. Now what we should find, is that when we open this in Premier Pro, is you'll notice that, that hasn't updated because, once you've dragged it in there, it doesn't pull automatically from the Browse folders. We'll go over here and browse, and we'll go back down to S, and we found it here. Now another tip, is if you are using things a lot, add it to your favorites, and the next time you can only show your favorites, which makes it easy. You don't have to scroll through all those things you don't want. Now if we drag that in, we'll see that it will work exactly like we want. The fonts actually work because they are adobe fonts. These are all good lessons for when you're making your own things. With that selected, we click Edit under the Essential Graphics panel, and now we can go ahead and change these fonts to anything we want. That's pretty cool, allows you to do that. We can change the color and so on and so forth. As you see, Essential Graphics are super useful. I had to show you all the annoying stuff so you can get to this point here, where from now on, you can just edit all of these, just straight in a Premier Pro. It's going to save a ton of time. It saves me a ton of time. I hope you guys find it interesting. I want to show you this one more example, and then we will be done.
7. One More Example: All right, so now we've gone over all of the things. We've opened it in After Effects. We've made our own titles in After Effects. We exploited them as Essential Graphics. We imported them as Essential Graphics in Premier Pro. Close that After Effects for good that time sort of. We know how to do those things. After Effects is cool. It's great to use. But if you don't have to use it to export little, tiny little things over and over and over, it 's way easier to go in Premiere Pro and just play with those cool little Mogrt. I just wanted to show you one more little example of a slightly more complicated one and we'll get out of here. Just to show you more examples and more things you can do, this is showing my comment from a YouTube channel. The idea is that one day when I'm making my vicious cycle mountain bike videos, I want to show comments that people have left on my videos. I want to be able to kind of show in a cooler animation. So I made this little animation that pops up, shows all this info that I can change everything. Now, I made it so that I can put their username basically just by initials. I can change the colors and do all that kind of stuff. Let's just say this is the username, then this is all the texts they wrote. Now, ideally, I'd love to put an image here instead their actual thumbnail, their actual image. But at this point, I'm sure it's something that'll add. I've actually seen a lot of people on forums asking from Adobe, but at this point you can not easily change an image in Essential Graphics unfortunately. So without being easily swap out the image, I thought it would just be easier just to put their initials like how the iMessage works. Obviously, you can just copy and paste the main body text here. Now, I want to give the option of whether I like the comment. If it's a nice comment, I'll show that I liked it. If I didn't, I'll hide that small heart opacity. I'll hide that vicious cycle logo, and I'll show that unloved heart by gray mean heart. I will show the real-time amount of likes it got, or if it didn't get any, then I will show it gray. I will show it as zero or none or whatever. I just put it on there that didn't get any same video with thumbs down. You can change the color and if I don't want to show reply, I can get rid of that. Of course, if for some crazy reason, I'll just change that background rectangle, I could. So you can see, you can do so many different options. There's lots of clever ways to make things editable. Yeah, I hope you guys enjoyed the class and we got to learn how to easily changed slides. We ought to learn how to easily make and customize our own titles like that one or obviously exactly like this one. Oh yeah. I don't like that red though. Let's get rid of that red, right. That red sucks. Oh yeah, that was looking good. Boom. If we go over here to the actual class Intro, you've got to be wondering if I may that in Essential Graphics. Of course, I did. Don't be silly. I can change every line. I can change the font. I can change every color. So I can make that title whatever I want. All right guys, I hope you enjoyed the class. Will talk to you later.
8. A Big Thank You: Okay, that's it. I hope you guys enjoyed the class. I hope you have learned something. Please let me know, type something in the description. Leave a review. I need to know whether you like this because it's a new thing for me to work more in the premier area and After Effects. It's just really fun for me to try something new and get into some new software. Even though I've been using it for a few years, I'm definitely not a professional like I am,I wouldn't considered myself to be in the design world. That's what I went to school for, I have done for 12 plus years. This is a little newer, I'm definitely not as experienced but I think that it actually gives me an advantage because I've been learning closer to when I'm teaching. I can relay the information that I just learned because I had the time to search it out because I was bored. Of course, if for some reason you are also a mountain biker and you're interested in all this, maybe you even make mountain bike videos. I don't know. Checkout my mountain bike channel on YouTube that is Vicious Cycle MTB right now, you going to search it in YouTube and I like a URL just yet. Check that out. I hope you enjoy it and of course, check out my other Skillshare classes. I've taught so many classes on so many different things and all different types of the illustration and all different types of graphic design. On top of illustrator, I've also done Photoshop and Procreate. I've done in design and I've done a little bit of hand block printing and different things like that. I think this is my 26 or so class now. So lots of classes. I hope you guys check those out, it'll be super helpful to me. Because if you check those out, it makes it easier for me to keep making videos. Thanks so much. I hope you guys enjoyed it. Again, please leave a review, leave a description. I'd love to see your project, what you made and After Effects and what you are using, and even just you know I think that was awesome. Thanks.
9. A Message From Future Jon: Wait, one more thing. I'm adding this, this is future Jon Brommet talking to you. I hope you enjoyed the class that you just watched. Some of these classes have been recorded a few years ago. So I just wanted to give a little up to date on what I'm doing now. You can see that I've put out a ton of classes potentially from the class that you just watched, as you may have been watching one of my older classes. If you go over to my profile, you can click it somewhere on the Skillshare website or go to skillshare.com/jonbrommet, just like that, with no H, just J-O-N. You'll see here I've got things broken down in my newest classes. This may even look slightly different for you because I'm putting out classes once a month right now. I've got my most popular classes, illustration, efficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop stuff, and then all of my other classes. Make sure that if it's not already selected, you click "See More" to see the rest of it. So many different classes. I hope you guys will be inspired to learn lots more. Hopefully, you're enjoying my classes and want to see more. If that's not enough, I'm @jonbrommet on Instagram so you can check out my Instagram. As well to know what I'm doing, I post all my new artwork there and, of course, let you know when I'm doing new Skillshare stuff. I've started a YouTube channel, where I put short videos that are instructional. I obviously advertise a bit of my Skillshare class. But short videos that I can't really put a whole-class out, I put here on YouTube. I even do things like have conversations with other teachers, like tab with a park. I plan to do that kind of stuff more often. If you head over to jonbrommet.com, I've newly updated my website. I have a digital shop where you can grab my Procreate brushes or other things like that. On top of seeing my different portfolio elements and things like that, I've also got Etsy shop, which I'll click here and would open this. You can buy all of my pins and different art things that I've created, and I will ship them to you from me. I've gotten them all produced here in my home. They look awesome, and I know that they're cool. I just recently started a Threadless shop, which you could click here. Of course, there's about Skillshare and contact. Everything is linked from my website. This new Threadless shop has all my merch that can be printed on demand on a really weirdly, wild variety of things. I don't know. Let's just click one of these things here. Let's going to open a t-shirt. But let's just say, maybe instead of a t-shirt, you wanted a duvet cover or shower curtains? Why wouldn't you want those things? I don't know. Anyway, I've got lots of different things going on. So if you like what I'm doing, please check out more of it and I'll keep making more things. Thanks everyone. Bye-bye.
