1. Introduction to Speaking Strategies: Hello everyone. I'm Coach Stef, and I'm from Lima, Peru. Okay, I love learning
languages. I speak Spanish. My second language is English, and I also speak French, German, and currently
learning Russian. I also know the writing
systems for Japanese, Korean, and Mandarin Chinese because
I love writing systems. Definitely, they're going
to be my net languages. I've been teaching
so many people to learn languages in a fun way. I just can't wait for you to be also that person that gets this. This class is actually created
for travelers experts. Any person that is actually
learning a language. Any person that is actually learning from textbooks or apps, or courses, or flash cards,
any method that you like. But that is not getting your results in terms
of speaking abilities. Speaking skills, okay. Because that is very important. That is one of our goals, right? To speak, to have a
conversation with native. If that is your weakest skill, then this class is
definitely for you. If you're getting started like you haven't stopped
anything just yet. With this language is still
a very good course to have. You can get there from
the beginning and to add speaking
activities from day one. It's going to help you a lot. You don't take years in this. Now, if you're going to see in the structure in this class, it's a very practical, I just put there one of
the best strategies that I teach all over the war
from so many people. And I condense it in these practical steps that
you can actually implement. You're going to see steps and strategies in the project class. You're going to be picking a strategy that actually
fits your lifestyle, your way of learning. Yes, your learning style. You're just going to
pick one and implement. This is not a class that you can watch and see,
oh, I learned a ton. I just posted what strategy and what other tools
that I'm going to share with you are going to use. You're going to share what you're going to use
and you're going to start using it
after this course. You're going to have so
many tools and resources so you can get there,
you can speak. This is, I can't
wait to hear you speak in any language
you want, okay? Since this is
actually strategies, you can apply this
to any language that you're going to
learn in the future. Okay, see you in the
first lesson. Bye bye.
2. Practice your language TODAY: Hello everyone. It's
me. It's Coach Step. Now, I want you to
picture something. I want to imagine
that you're at work. Then suddenly there's an
offer available for you. And they're saying
for this role, which in this case is your role, there's an opening for the job. But you, let's say for
this example it's Polish. We need someone that
can actually speak Polish because the the team are Polish and they're
going to speak Polish during the
meetings at work. For you to say, yes, I have the years of
experience about Polish, I don't have any certification that proves that I'm this level, but I can speak
comfortably in Polish. Yes, I'm you see that? Let me say that there's many, many jobs that if you prove during an interview
that you can speak you're in, you don't really need
a certification. My point is, will you
be able to say that? Because that's my goal. My goal is not for
you to pass or yes, I am two and Polish. But to be able to
have that confidence, to be able to be conversational, to speak any language
that you want. That's what I want
for you and for me. Okay. I love languages. I'm sure you as
well you love it. I know it. That's my goal. That's my goal. I know. That's your goal to
you want to speak, you want to be conversational. You want to be able
to watch TV show and understand like okay, I can't speak grammar perfect, but I can't speak. I can understand. And I can
just go to the country or work with native speakers
and be just fine. That's what we all want. If you're not doing anything
today for your language, please do an example. I just watch. So entirely in French then I really like small
interviews in Japanese. And then just now, what's this book called? My goodness, I was
reading in German. I don't remember the
title of the book, My goodness, But that's
the point. Okay. Even if you don't remember
the title of the books, you're going to just
review vocabulary, right? Even if you don't understand
anything of what you watch, you're still going to
practice your listening. And believe me, it's
going to show, okay? Just do anything right
now. Take later.
3. STEP 1 WHAT YOU NEED TO SPEAK: Hello and welcome. Okay. Are you clear with what language
do you want to speak? Let's say for now is French. Okay, What do you need? This video is about the things you need to start
speaking French. Because you have
to speak French, you're going to speak French. I can guarantee
you. First thing, you need a book, okay? Just a simple book. Very simple. Simple a pen. Well, this can be tricky
and based on your taste, it can be like a novel, a short story, or
a graded reader. But in French, actually highly
recommend a graded reader. That is really going to give
you more facility to speak, facility to read, to actually
motivate you to finish it. A graded reader, if any
novel that you want story, first you have your
book, your pen. Then you have your
graded reader in French. Then the next thing you
need a language partner. Hugely important content, a platform that you can
see a TV show or a movie, or a blogger in
French all the time. That's the things you
need and that's it. Only with that you're
going to speak it. You don't need to
find the perfect. Just I said you have your
notebook and your pen. You have your graded reader. In my case, for example, it could be like
Lupe. That's perfect. It's not a graded reader, but it is a novel, very
short and very easy to read. Or it can be the short
stories by all the reachers. Those are a good one to book your noble graded
reader Your content. You really need content
because you need to listen a lot. It's a TV show. Perfect. That's
better than a film. Because a TV show you get
used to each accents or the vocabulary in
the episodes have some shared vocabulary
that's going to improve your
vocabulary as well. Since you're going to get
to know the characters, everything is going to
be also easier for you to understand as
long as you are. For example, season one, maybe you struggle a lot. Season two, you're
getting the idea. Season three, you're getting this right better than a film. I suggest a TV show, but any content is fine. Lastly, of course,
your language. You need a language partner. I mean, it's not mandatory, but it's ideal because
in this not book, you're going to write
a lot of sentences. You want those sentences to be correct. Right, to be right. And even better if
they had some slang, you sound more natural. That only can happen
with the native speaker. That's it. That's everything
you need in order to speak. Don't look further. Don't
just Google what is better bubble or bus to ling the greatest
up to get there. Now just cling and just
get these resources. That's all you need
to know, speak.
4. STEP 2 PICK A DAY TO SPEAK: Hey, okay, this is the most
important video, step two. Now I really want you
to commit to this. Really commit, okay? Because if you want to speak, you really need to
follow this step by step point by 0.0 Treat
it as a challenge. You just want something
to boost your motivation, okay? But commit to this. From now on you're going
to speak that language. And just for saying more quick, let's say Russian
this time, okay? Now, you're going to
speak Russian on Fridays. Yes. No matter your language
level in Russian, even if you are a completely
beginner, I don't know. I feel like an two. I'm waiting for being a B one
or B two to speak Friday. You speak that language? Yes or yes? All right. Yes, yes. There's no gray in here. It's just white. All right? But then again, it's no black or white in
your commitment. But the day can definitely change depending
on your schedule. That's something that
only, you know, weekends. More convenient for you
than weekends? It is. If Monday is more
convenient to you, Monday it is. Okay. I just want you to pick a
day at least once a week. Okay? If you can do it. Perfect. But it can't be zero. It can be one week
and the other week. Okay. At least one day per week. Okay, Perfect. Now that you know
that you're going to notice when that day
arrives, let's say Friday, that even if you're a two, you can understand a lot, but you're going to say things more slowly or
you're going to say things. I know that it's the tip
of my tongue, right? I remember it, but I don't know why it's not coming to me. But I know that word,
I really know it. I hear it all the time. It doesn't come out.
Well, it doesn't come out because
you don't speak it. You don't say that word
frequently, you hear it. But the more you speak, it's going to come up really
naturally. All right? So you're going to notice
that as of right now. I just want you to notice that. Okay. Don't say I knew it. This is not for me. I'm not in the level
to speak just yet. I quit this. I don't
want to do this anymore. I just go back to
I don't know that. Speak up. No, it's perfect. It's perfect if you have this
vocabulary lanes awareness. Okay. If you notice that
you can't really speak. If you're missed in
a ton of vocabulary, that is the best thing that can happen because you're going
to notice your gaps, okay? That's when the
notebook gets in, okay? For example, I show you this
as an example of a notebook, but I want to show
you this one this time because this
actually has content that is going to help
you know what kind of things you're going to
write in your notebook. Okay, let's get this straight. You pick a day. That day, you're committing
to only speak Russian, okay? Now you're just going to notice, notice you say daily what
things you say, okay? Then you're going to
notice some words, some vocabulary that you don't know or you don't
remember easily. You remember after a
minute or after 5 minutes, then you remember that is something that you might
want to speak more often, it comes in seconds. Again, the things that you're noticing,
you write it here. You write it in your native
language, for example, if you don't know how
to say something, you write that phrase. It's better if it's a
phrase, another word. But if it's a word, it can also like
write it in English. And then with a different
color or the same color, how it works for you,
you write it in Russian. In this case, you have what you constantly say
and a translation. You're going to notice
when a week pass by that you're not
going to need as much and you're going to remember
because what you're writing here is not a vocabulary
that you need for a specific TV show
or for anything. It's your daily vocabulary because it's something
you say daily. You're going to
remember more often, maybe the second day
you're going to say, I remember how is this? Oh yes, it was this the day maybe you're going
through the same. Oh yes, it was this,
the Fay maybe? Yes, it was this.
Then the fifth day, you don't even get
a second in here. Just say it right, You're going to see
improvement so much faster. Okay, in the next video, I'm going to show you
the content of this, just to give you an example, because I don't want you to
keep wondering what write, even though I already
told you what to write. Just notice what you say daily. What you struggle to write it here and then write
your translation. That's where your
native speaker friend, it's just comply in this stage because it's going to help you with
the translations. Because if you just use
Google translation, it may not be really truthful to the language or may
sound weird to a native. But this week, if you don't have a language
partner just yet, just notice what you struggle to say and write
it down in English. Then you can try to translate
it in your target language. You can use Google Translator as a help or Del.com as a help. That is going to
come really handy. But afterwards, when you
do get language partner, you can say, hey,
I got this phrase. I don't know how to say. I
think it says like this. Can you verify if that's
correct or even at son's lang. So it sounds more
natural, right? But right now, just focus on noticing on that day
what things you say, what things you can say. Write it here in English. Try to put how it will be
in your target language, in this simple Russian. And then in the next video, I'm going to open
this and show you, for example, what
things I wrote. Okay, bye bye.
5. STEP 3 NOTEBOOK: The notebook. Okay. This time I was
going to show you what, since this notebook, right? And you're going to see
I start with numbers, I start with numbers,
and then colors. I include some
phrases about colors. Like, for example, I
have here, this is red. Even have some things
that I need to use. For example, I'm
wearing a red shirt. Then I go with more colors. And then my favorite color is, or I like this color, because I assume I'm
going to need to use those phrases again, I saw numbers, it's just basic
numbers and then colors. Then I go again
more examples for colors like the koala is gray, the wardrobe is brown. Then I have parts of actual
here using blue and black. If you see with black, I have the English in blue, I the French parts of the body. And then examples
of what I have like I have black hair and
I have black eyes, I have brown hair,
She has a long neck. That actually help me when
I was reading Harry Potter, to know that, you know what? This kind of vocabulary
seemed a little bit irrelevant a long time ago
like I was like Indo lingo. You have all these
lessons, right? Like I never going
to use that one and you go straight to the
ones you actually care. But since I have a toddler, I realized how that is not true. I have a toddler and now this vocabulary is
so useful for me. She loves this vocabulary, like she loves counting. She's toddler, I really using
this B with hair as well, so she can actually
learn French with me. It's great because
she likes like putting toys around like
she has little balls. Say oh, what color
is this French? And she's like, is
this color this color? I also review the colors with
hair that way. It's great. Again, you have the
numbers, colors, parts of the body, all of
them with yes vocabulary. But as samples then I have days of the week,
months of the year. It's always important
because for example, with my Toller we always
have like this like a board, which day is it of the
week And she picks it also with a rotation to pick
also the months of the year. Because she's a
toler, she should have an orientation where she is to love those parts. When I I speak with
her in Spanish, I speak with her in English. And then when I spoke
with her in French, even though I could speak
very good French like OMG, I don't remember how they say a Wednesday or
August in French because they don't use it
as much and I it's not something that I've
listened a lot in Port. Be sure Now ones how can
I know this since this is a basic vocabulary basic
to know when I put this, I also put months of
the year because I have a toddler now when she asks now I'm going to
say it's then I have floss. Very important,
especially with her. I put little phrases
in there as well. Like I'm wearing, I'm wearing sandals and what is this or
what is it then the house, because it's very important. Then I have of course, little phrases like
open the window, open the curtain, please close the door of
the bathroom, right? Then the furniture in the house. And then to say, yeah, I'm on the sofa, the hair is next to
the table there. Then you have objects
in the house, then the kitchen,
then the bathroom. More examples like wash your
hands, flush the toilet. Right. And then I have vegetables, sun meat, salty food, sweet foods have farm
animals. Wild animals. And this is hugely important
for me because she, being a toddler, she has
like tons of animals. As for toys, like she
has a whole farm. Then again, I don't
know how to say that, sheep or goat in French. Then I notice I need
animal vocabulary, right? Also too much noise. See animals important
then family members, which is great, great. Also one advice that I can give you is if you can just Google, for example, I didn't
write everything that I thought I was going to need and then Google
Translate everything. That's too boring, isn't it? I mean, it could be
great, but for me, it was easier to do
this the first day. I was thinking, okay, I need a lot of vocoder to speak with my Toler around
so I can practice with car to because I pick Fs weekend because
that's the day I can spend most
of the time with my family, with my toddler. I wanted her to
also learn French, For me to practice French speaking French, so
it was a big deal. I start with, I need to know the numbers first because
she loves counting. That's something that she can do playing and at the same
time learning so she can passively and actively
learn French because she just, she's playing, that's great. It's just going to
be a reinforce. What I did is searching
Google numbers on French. That's it. Then the girl was speaking and I
was taking notes. And the same colors, like color lessons French. That is way more fun. If you're lucky, that
person on Youtube, besides vocabulary,
also give you phrases so you don't have
to translate those either. It's great because even you get to know more bloggers in
your target language. That's great. I needed to
complete my whole notebook. Right then we have the bathroom, the salty food, the fruits, because she sometimes ask
me what is what I'm eating. It's a weekend where I speak solely in French. I
need to know that. I also need to know things like, yeah, I don't know
how to say that, but in Spanish it says like that because I
already spoke French. But the little things,
it's good to know. I never knew how to
say like a grape in French because I
never heard people. Then I have the jobs,
which is important. When I explain to my children
what her mommy does, her Daddy grandma, her aunt. Then we have the bathroom. Then I had one that I
just call every day, expressions, the
things I just noticed. Again, you have to
notice what you say. I said during the whole day
when my toddler is listening, but what I say in my native
language, I booked those. Also, my everyday
expressions like since I pretty much
say all the time, because you're going
to notice that every day you say
a lot of things, you use the same vocabulary,
which is bizarre. But it's true? Yes,
that's how I put it. Then I put in everyday expressions,
developing categories. If you don't want to
do that, that's okay. I find it easier when
it's eating time. She asked me a lot of things and we discuss different things. I just go to this part. If I forget to say something, I put time to eat. I say like, Mom time to eat. When I say, let's
gather to sit down, to sit down to eat
like let's drink water Which is a reminder that I always say
to my daughter, I need to say that let's drink
water or drink water like imperative direct drink water or do you sit down or
should I come with you? Like that's a classic
with a towler. Sometimes you have to
give her two options. Two options that are related
to her sitting down. Right. Like not long
to finish the meal. Right? Use paper towel to
clean it up. Sit still. That's something we always use. Is the food too hot?
It's delicious, tasty. Yeah. Do you like it? Do
you want more water? Right. The small things like stool, share, say thank you. Is the food, is
the full too hot? I always say during lunchtime, then I have like Mr.
Lani Linus ready. Do I count? Or you count something, we always say, or what a mess. Let's tidy up quickly. Put away your toys. Say, pick up all your toys, like, oh, I'm going to hide, Hide something when we play. I didn't knew how to
say that in French, like do you want to draw paint? Like that's something
she usually does. What do you want to do? You must wash your hands first. Brush your teeth. I'll
close the coptains. Close the coptains, please. Let's go to your
therapy lessons. That's something that
Tollers do those days like nowadays,
everything is therapy. Isn't it now me
or is it my turn? It's your turn, Yes. Let's try your hair
with a hair dryer, it's not going to hurt. Say thank you, leave
it in the sink. That's something we usually say. I'll turn off the TV, I'm going to put water. In your terms, is it delicious, is it yummy, tasty? I bought a lot of books. Do you want to go to buy books? It was not my
intention to hurt you. It's something that
we always teach her to say and to apologize, even if it was
accidentally very good to told her that and
then it suits you well. Are you going to the office? And it's something
more for her daddy, and she needs to know how
to say that. Oh, sorry. Did I wake you up?
I hope you're okay. How was your day? Right. Can you describe me your
day? Can I help you? I'll write you later. I woke up. Your dad
wakes up too late. On my laptop. I have hiccup. Right. Just miss things. You're going to notice what kind of things you say every day. If you have a toddler like me, she's going to be a
great motivation for you to start doing
this notebook, Okay? Because most of the time your family around you don't really care
like your fiance. Hey, I want to speak
French all day about this. He's not going to
care your toddler. She's all in and she might not even know
you're doing that. If you have a toddler,
this's perfect. And it's going to be a
great motivation because she's learning with
you and it's amazing. But if not, I have a free
document that I share with the practical strategist to speak that is going
to give you a lot of ideas of how can you practice
if not with your total. But this is it. That's how I fill
up my notebook. It's easy just take
one day notice. What is it that you say? Take notes and then
think about it. And then just Google on Youtube. There are a lot
of lessons there. If not, you can always use
Google Translate or Deep, or your own knowledge, then go to an active speaker if you didn't find any tuber. Because with a
Youtube, you already know that what she's
saying is correct. If you're doing with
your own knowledge, it might be correct, it might be almost correct, or
it might be wrong. Right. It might be
right, but not natural. It's always good either from
Youtube or a native speaker. You can fill it up and
then you can practice all day and then the
next day coming, and then you have something. If you forget,
that's it, bye bye.
6. Multilingual Child Strategies: Okay. What we're going
to do now is that I'm going to talk about the
strategies that bilingual childs, even more the parents do for their child to be
bilingual or multilingual. Okay? These strategies
are amazing. You may have heard of Paul
that very popular, right? But let's get into
this really deep. I'm going to post a video about each one of
the strategies. Just watch it, don't worry, because I'm going to connect
the dots at the end. Just watch each strategy. What is it about then? I'm going to share with
you which strategy you're going to use and how
you're going to use it. But since I'm posting
about each strategy, you can of course, do some like twitching and stuff and you just
make it your own. You can come up with
your own strategy. But for now I'm just going
to post about each strategy. Then I'm going to
connect the dots and share with you which one
you're going to use. Okay, stay tuned. Be really focused.
Listen carefully, but then don't get overwhelmed. Okay, I'm going to
connect the dots. Okay, let's get into it.
7. Activity Based Strategy: Now we're talking about the
activity based strategy. Now some actually relates to the time strategy
because when you do a specific thing at a time, but it's more related
to the activity itself. For example, a lot of people do this in a gaming community. When they play with a game, they change the settings to the language they're
learning every time. Play around with that
game, casually or real. It's just in that language. They don't just play
in their native, they play in the
target language. When I say target language, the language they're learning, right, That's one way to go. If you have no affinity
for games at all, that's okay, because
there's a lot of activities you can do. This is activity based strategy. Actually, you can do
this with an activity. I don't mean like a game board or a video game or
anything like that, right? Because people do it
a lot with games, even if it's just cards, they do it with cards. But it can be for any activity. For example, when you take a B, every time you're already preparing the things
to take a bath. You know that once
you're in the shower, you're going to sink or speak in that language because
that's an activity. Taking a shower,
that's an activity. It's just for giving
you an example. That doesn't have
to be activity like reading, gaming, any activity. It's just up to
your imagination. That's one example.
The other one is, for example, when you watch
TV, that's an activity. Every time you watch TV, you stop doing that in English, let's say if that's your native, you start doing that. I don't know Ukrainian language. It's a to come up
with one when I have still coming
right now at me. I think I already mentioned that language. Let's say Hindi. Right now you're
watching your TV on, in D, and that's it. Every time you turn on the V, you know that you're
going to watch a show or maybe the news in Indi. You want to re see
the TVdiaink show, can I watch in India? Relate that to talk language. It's any activity that you do. Activity based strategy. I think it's self explanatory as well. Just any activity that you want from now on that activity, it's only in your
target language, right? You can stop doing that in your native because
like from now on, that activity is
going to be strongly related to the language
you want to learn. Okay, that was activity
based strategy. See later.
8. Place Strategy: Now let's talk about
place strategy. This is self
explanatory as well. In this sign language, it's separated by the room. For example, you're
at home and you speak a different language
depending on which room of the home you are. For example, when
you're in the kitchen, you speak Portuguese when
you're in the living room, you speak English when
you're in the dining room, in the dining room,
you speak Polish. And when you're in your bedroom, you speak Russian, for example. Just like that. That
is a bit weird, but some people actually
do that by strategy. It doesn't have to be like you have to put different
language in each, maybe to just speak one. For example, at home
you speak English, but every time you go
to your study room, then you switch to Portuguese. Right? You speak at home with your family in
your native language. You speak good. Then you go to your study
room, you're on your own, and then you can
speak Portuguese freely every time you are just drinking water here
in your living room. And then you go to
your study room, then you switch to
Portuguese when you, when you speak with
yourself, while you study. It doesn't mean your study room for studying that language. It's just a room. I
don't mean activity. I mean the room, even if you go to the study
room to just pick something, something that you're
not staying in a room. Brief moment you're in there, you start thinking in
Portuguese, that's the point. That is a room
dedicated for that, it makes you think
right in that language. You create a habit on that. Now, other way that you can actually do
the place strategy is that at home you speak one language and outside
you speak another language. That's also other
point or example at the library or
another friend's house, you speak one language here. One language on the street. In depends. Good. For example, if
you're at home and you are ashamed to speak
Alan language, you don't want anyone to you. Maybe when you go to the street
you switch to polish when you walk around or you just do your
running in the morning. You can speak outside Polish even if it makes
using like crazy. That's one way to
look at it, right? It's separated by a place either in a place inside
your home or outside. That's place strategy by.
9. Target Strategy: Now I'll speak about
the target strategy. Now, this is like a
variation of the, really the most popular multilingual strategy,
which is Pol. Now you may have
heard of us or not. Paul stands for one
parent, one language. It's basically when a child is coming and you want
him to be bilingual, the mom speaks your
native language, the daddy speaks
native language. The child grows speaking mother's language
and dads language. Then when he goes to school, he learns the language that
is spoken in the country. He just speaking
three languages. That is perfect. Great scenario. In your case, it may
not be like that, maybe you're the only one
trying to learn language. And your family all speaks the language of the
country and you too. That might not be the case, but I made a variation of this. Again, the strategy is
01, parent one language. The whole idea is
that when the child, right, let's try to
understand this. When the child is like walking, when he sees his mom, he already start thinking
in that language. Then he sees, no, he starts speaking French, let's say that's the language he's starting to
listen and everything. My point here, I changed
it to target strategy. You pick a target in
your environment. I don't know what
hobbies, I don't know. Toys, objects, persons you have. You pick one. That one. From now on, we'll
speak that language. That makes no sense
to you right now. Let's talk about
it, for example, okay, Let's say you collect
action figures, right? From now on, that
action figure that you sometimes speak
to, I don't know. Let's say French again. From now on you'll speak French because let's say English. And you're studying French
sometimes, let's say. But then your whole
day is in English. Even when you have an
action figure that, I don't really have
one right now. Let's say you have
an action figure, you speak to her in
English as well. That's not going to work
because you're not really speaking French except
when you're studying, which is not the
approach that we want. You can speak, you
need to speak fast. Okay? If you never
practice speaking, how can you speak fast, right? Yes, you study, you have your main resource.
That's fantastic. Now, this strategy is all about to have a target strategy. Every time you see her, you start speaking French, you speak French with
you, make speak French. She has another friend
that she's taking tea now, she speaks French and she's going to start speaking French. She's not going to
understand anymore. Maybe she still speaks English. And she's saying to her to teach her some French too because she
wants to understand. You can create a scenario here. I don't know if you're
understanding completely, but that's the point in my Let me just put my case so you can understand more
of the target tragedy. I have a child, she's
four years old. Every time I see her I
speak in English now. My native language is Spanish. I even speak Spanish with my
friends, with my husband, because he doesn't speak
English at all with my child, I only speak English,
That's the point. That's the target strategy
and she start picking it up. That's important. It's
important because first I give her an
advantage to practice. Two, we're happy. We're happier that way. I never lose contact of
my English even now. I'm just teaching you guys
how to learn language, but I do it in English even
if it's not my native. That's practice as well. Okay. Then again, this target strategy is about picking anything, a person to a plan, anything from now on she
speaks that language or you can only speak to it because she really
doesn't speak. You can speak to it
only in that language. All right, even if
you has a cousin and your cousin comes here all the time and she comes
with her dolls, imagine like her, let's
say understand because they can speak
understand Japanese. You speak Japanese
with her dolls. And your cousin is going to
be like what is happening? But the same time,
maybe your cousins learns Japanese as well. But every time you
play like yours, they speak Japanese and
they understand Japanese. You have to speak
Japanese with them. Just consider the
old strategies. You're going to
learn a lot because when you made speak,
for example, French, I, you're not going
to be sure the entire time what to say because your French
lacks vocabulary, grammar, and so many things. But that's good because you're
going to practice again. You have the other
points of having a sentence notebook
writing, even in English. If you have no idea how
to say it in French, you write it in English. And then you go to your language exchange
banner and you say, how can I say this in French? You say it then when she goes and she wants to say
that again and you remember, or even if you don't remember, you get your
notebook, you set it, you say that's how it was said, and you're going to make her say that again in the third day. If she suddenly have to say the same thing in
a certain moment, maybe finally you'll remember you're going to learn
more vocabulary. That's the target strategy.
10. Time Strategy: The first one that
I'm going to talk about is a time strategy. The time strategy is very, very important needs and
the most straightforward, let's say some
people use it a lot. For example, time strategy, you divide the language
that you're focusing on in the first example, the day that is a time, for example, when people say, I'll speak I it on Fridays, every time Friday
arrives, switched to it. Of course, you study
Italian every day. But on that day, yes. Yes, you speak you have to speak Italian since you wake up the
first thing in the morning. Since you wake up, your first
thought have to be Italian. Start sinking in
Italian. The whole day. It, if you haven't been practicing your speaking
skills, it's Friday. You have to speak
Italian right now. Yesterday you forgot
to study Italians. What is Friday? It's
your Italian day. You have to study, you have to speak Italian, which is most important because right now we're talking about
strategies to speak, to get you to speak to actually all the things
you're actually doing. Passively. Studying
passively, it's time to practice, okay? Time strategy. That's the most classic
approach people do for time strategy, but it's not the only one
time strategy actually talks about all periods
of time actually, it's not just a day, you can pick a lot of days. Most common way is people say on weekdays this language and on weekends the other language, if you're only focusing
on one language, it will be on weekdays,
your native language. On weekends, the language
you're practicing, people of some practice
a lot of language time, they may do it differently
from Monday to Wednesday, one language to Wednesday to
Friday, another language. And weekends language
learning, it could differ. Other even more weird, I don't know we, but it's
definitely different. But it's still time strategy. It's divided time
during the day. For example, on mornings
you speak one language, and the evenings you
speak another language. Your switch is between
the same day, every day. In the mornings you
speak one language, and in the evenings you
speak another language. If you like that, you could
actually try that one. It's even if you're only
focusing on one language. During the mornings you speak
your native, let's say, because you have to work, and in the evenings you only speak
the language you're studying. That's actually really cool. Other people even make it. This is, it's still about working out and
playing with time. Even if it's in the day, in the week, on a specific day, or like others, they
do it every two weeks, or every other week, or every other day. Let's say it's Monday. You speak your
native. It's Tuesday. You speak yes or yes, the
language you're studying. Then it's Wednesday
again, you're native, then it's Sunday, the
language you're studying. Because it's every other day. Just play around with time. See which one you
like and pick one. Of course, if time is
not your favorite, keep watching the other
strategies videos and see which you like. The idea is that you pick one strategy and start
implementing it in your day. This was time strategy by.
11. Watching content on YouTube Easily: To tell you about something
that I actually do. That it makes everything
so much better for me. Because I say to your company
that you have to find something on Youtube in your
target language, right? But what I do that makes
this easier, right, For me is to create
a channel on Youtube specifically for the language I'm learning or want to learn. Right? Because if I just open Youtube with the
idea in my mind, I just want to see a video, I don't know, on French. But when I open Youtube I see so many other
recommendations from some other hobbies or things
that I like to watch. I just want to stop it. And I'm just going to
click on those videos. And then my whole plan of turning on you to watch
something French, it's just going to be fasted
and completely ruined. Okay, so what I do
is create a channel. So in case you don't know that, I mean to create a channel, I always go to the website. So in this case, and in my
laptop for example, I will, you go to your
profile and you just go to configuration, okay? In this just put like ad
or manage channels, right? And then you're going
to see this, okay? So this is a place where
you create a channel. So as you see, I'm just using my same e mail because
this is just a, another channel that I'm
going to have under my name. Right. This is my main one
that I have with my e mail. But I have other
channels that are just with a focus purpose. Right. I have Steffen,
Steve German, Steve Rush with my mail. I have other channels
as well like this. So that's how you have it. Okay. So if you're saying,
oh, that's interesting, but I don't have another e mail or I don't want to create
another Youtube account. You don't have to create
another Youtube account with the same account. You have just create a channel
specifically for that. In this channel,
you're just going to subscribe to the channels you already like
that are in French, bloggers on French, cartoons, on French, Everything that's on Youtube that is in French. When you actually login to your account, to
your French account, which you just change account, you see I have with e
mails all their accounts. You can just check
your account for French and you're going to have all the
recommendations on French. Even if you just go with a plan to do that,
you're just going to have it. For example, I put here
create a channel for example. In this case I'm going
to put step Japanese. Just let's say I want to speak Japanese. Yes,
I understand this. See, I'm creating a
Google account with its own configuration that
includes its own history. Right. And that's what I want. I don't want this
to recommend me stuff that I like
from my account. I want stuff that recommend me. Only stuff that I like in
this channel that basically, of course, I'm going to only
like videos on Japanese. The whole recommendation
is on Japanese. Therefore, when I want to
watch something on Japanese, I just log in to my
Youtube account. I change the channel
for step Japanese, and then I'm going
to have all Youtube. The Japanese bloggers I like the Japanese videos, et cetera. This is your chance
for you to don't fail on your plan on watching Youtube on your target language. Okay, that's it. That's
all you're going to do. Like for example, I will
put Create Channel. And then I'm going
to start looking for the accounts
or bloggers that I like and start subscribing and liking and
watching those videos. And eventually Top is
going to recommend me videos, like similar videos. And I'm going to find
so many bloggers that I don't know that
I'm going to like. That's that, it's a simple
trick and it's amazing.
12. You have a language partner: You have found your language
partner and now what? Right? Some people struggle with this a lot
because they look at their language partner
like a friend and like an awkward friend
because they are like, hey coach, what can I
say to this person? Because I can't come
up with any topic. I want to say something, but I say like, how are you
in the target language? She reply, What are
you doing today? And she replies and
then you're like, what else can we talk about? That's definitely not the way to approach a language partner. Now, you know you have
a lot of activities, you've been through a lot of phases, you can practice that. Don't really think about the
topic because guess what? Your language partner
is not your friend. You're really not
going to talk about your daily things, right? Because you could,
that could be great. If she or he becomes
your friend, that's fantastic because
you finally talk naturally. But if he or she is not, it's just not going
to come up naturally to talk about the daily
things with him or her. You just have to sing
more strategically. Like for example, you're in the face of doing
your sentence notebook. Right? I'm just going to
grab my sentence notebook. I really like this
because it's cute and it's carved for having
it in the purse. Let's say you have your
sentence notebook, and now you have a language
partner. This is perfect. Just send her or one of your sentences
and she can correct it, review it, et cetera. You are practicing with songs. Recall you singing that song. And send it to her or the Odio, she's going to correct it. Okay. You can even read out loud all your short stories or anything that you're doing. Any activity, just actively, you have the chat to just send whether written or audio and she's going to correct it and she's going to say amazing. And you can even asker if she has a TV show
she recommends, if she has a book
she recommends. This is not really too recommended for me
because she might like something that is not
available for you or she might love a book that
is way too hard for you. Just stick with your resources, stick with what you love. And just approach her or
him to review what you do. Pretty much your sentences. You can correct it even
more than correct, but maybe add some
lank in there, make it sound more natural. Okay? More natural. And it's going to be perfect. Okay? Now you're going to find, not what I'm going
to say to her, but actually when you're
adding a new sentence. Oh, this is a sentence
I year daily. I don't know if I translated. Well then you just go
and send that to her. You're just not
thinking anymore. As long as you
practice and you do the faces and you have
activities to do, you always have content
to send her or send him. Okay, let's get into action.
13. What's next: You are over with the
class, What's next, right? Well, what's next is
that you actually can implement all the strategies, all the steps that
I share with you. Now in the class project
you're going to write, or maybe you're already wrote, what are you going to use for the next days or next months? Depending on how
committed you are. Okay? The strategy that
you're going to pick, and I'm sure you're
going to have the fun of your life and you're going
to see your language, how it progresses rapidly. Now, if the language
you pick is Spanish, I actually have a coaching
program for that. You can just check
the link in my bio. And we're going to
just take you there on board you and just have
the fun of my life. That is for three months, six months, or 12 months. Okay, I'm excited
to see you there. Just click the link
in my bio and you're going to see all the details of that coaching program
to get you there. It's called Conversational
Spanish. It's amazing. And you get one on
one access with me via calls and be
a mess in support. Okay? You're going
to speak Spanish no matter no matter what
package you choose. Again, if you have doubts and you have doubts
about the program, when you check the link in my bio and you see
all the details, you atrial has an option
to book a call with me, a free call to discuss the
program and the investment. Of course, okay? Have and see you in
any other class.
