1. Introduction: Welcome, I'm perminda educator, turned Entrepreneur, specializing in art and craft with a passion for creating handmade products and teaching online. Today, I'm excited to guide you through the step by step process of making a realistic sushi wax candle, a unique and creative piece that looks just like sushi, but is entirely made of wax. This project is fun, creative, and detailed combining artistry and candle making skills. Plus using soifx makes it an eco friendly clean burning choice. By the end of this tutorial, you will have a beautifully crafted sushi candle, perfect for display gifting or even selling in your handmade product line. See you in the next model. 2. Material to be needed: Here is a detailed list of materials we will need to create a realistic sushi wax scandal. First one is soywx. Soyvex we need 30 to 50 grams. You can adjust it based on the candle size. Soywx is an eco friendly clean burning option that doesn't produce smoke or pollution. It also has a smooth texture, perfect for crafting detailed candle elements like wax rice and veggies. Next, we need Double booiler setup. For Double booiler, we need a large pan with water and a small stainless steel mug or heat safe container. We will be using double boiler because x should never be melted directly on flame as it can burn. A double boiler ensures even heating and prevents overheating. Next is wax pigment, liquid or powder. We need white pigment, but it is completely optional. Then black pigment for the sushi wrap, red, yellow, green pigments for wax veggies. Pigments give the candle its realistic look, mimicking sushi ingredients. Next is fragrance soil. You can take any food fragrance oil. For one sushi candle, ten to 15 drops would be fine. Adding fragrance, hanszacdas aesthetic appeal, making it both visually and aromatically pleasing. Next is noodle maker or piping bag. This we need for wax rice. Best for creating uniform rice grains with precise shape. Then heat gun we use to soften wax layers for sticking wax rice and veggies onto the sushi base. Also useful for re melting thickened wax when needed. Next is silicon mate, craft mate or butter paper. It prevents wax from sticking and makes shaping easier. Next, candle wick with sustainer. It is essential for making the candle functional, and this sustainer helps keep the wick stable, ensuring an even burn. Next is long needle or wick needle tool. It helps create a hole in the wax to insert the wick. Next is acrylic paint. However, it is optional for sushi wrap. If the black powdered pigment doesn't adhere well in warm climates, acrylic paint can be used for the outer sushi layer. In addition, we will also need a pair of gloves for safety, stirrrs or spoons for mixing, and disposable cups for easy handling and boring. These essential tools will help ensure a smooth and hale free candle making process. See you in the next module. 3. Melting the Wax: Welcome. Today we are going to make a fun and creative sushi wax candle. Let's get started. So first, we need to melt our wax. I'm using soya chunks, and I will melt them in a double boiler. I've switched on my hot plate, and I'm going to place my stainless till mug inside the double boiler with soya wax in it. Soy wax is a great choice because it is eco friendly and burns cleanly without producing smoke or pollution. It is a safer and more sustainable option compared to paraffin wax. However, never heat x directly over an open flame. As it can lead to scorching and even burning. Affecting the texture and quality of your candle. To ensure even safe melting, always use a double boiler. This gentle heat method helps control the temperature and prevents any unwanted overheating. Once the wax has melted completely, I will switch off the hot plate and remove the smaller pan from the double boiler. 4. Making Wax Veggies: Hello, everyone. Let's make wax veggies. Before we start working with wax, let's take a quick safety tip. I'm putting on my gloves. Wearing gloves is really important because they protect our hands from hot wax, pigments and fragrant soils. Now that we are ready, let's start making our wax veggies. Our next step is adding pigment. For that, I've set up three disposable cups, each ready for a different wax color. Now I will take the melted wax and carefully pour a small amount into each cup, ensuring just the right quantity for coloring. Today, I'm using three liquid pigments, red, yellow, and green. You can choose any colors based on the veggies you want to replicate. Adding two to three drops of pigment is usually enough. But if you want a deeper shade, just increase the amount. Sometimes a wax thickens before the colors are fully mixed. That's when a heat gun comes in handy. I will use a heat gun to slightly soften the wax so I can blend the pigments smoothly. This makes it easy to mix and shape without any lumps. Now that our colored wax is ready, I will take it onto a non stick surface. You can use butterpaper, silicon mat, a thick plastic sheet as well. I'm pouring all three colored waxes onto the silicon mat and letting them harden slightly. Not too much. Just enough to hold the shape. Once the wax is firm, but still pliable, I will start cutting it into small vegetable like shapes. The chopped wax veggies are looking so realistic, so vibrant. We now have beautiful wax veggies ready to be used in our sushi candle making project. This technique gives a super realistic effect, and you can experiment with different colors and shapes to create all kinds of designs. See you in the next module. 5. Making Wax Rice: Hello friends. In this module, we will explore two techniques for making wax rice. One, using a noodle maker and the other with a homemade piping bag. We will begin with the noodle maker method where we will create fine realistic wax rice grains. Then we will move on to the piping bag technique, a great alternative for those who don't have a noodle maker. Let's dive into the first method. First, we need to melt soywax using a double boiler. This method ensures gentle heating and prevents burning. Take five to 10 grams of soywax and place it in a heat safe stainless steel container. Set up your double boiler, making sure the wax is heated gradually and stirred occasionally. Once a wax completely melts, remove it from the heat. Now let it thicken slightly, stirring every minutes to maintain an even consistency. Be careful. The wax should still be soft at this stage. Here we are looking for a semi solid texture, neither too raunny nor fully hardened. Now we will make wax rice using a noodle maker. This tool comes with multiple attachments, but today we will use the one best suited for rice like pieces. First of all, attach this attachment on this side and make sure it is secured properly. From the other side, pour the thickened wax into the machine. Before pressing, check the consistency. It should be smooth but not too liquidy. Now place a cover and gently press the handle. Watch as a wax starts coming out in thin noodle like strands. Here is a protip. While pressing, move the machine straight. This prevents the strands from bunching up in one spot. Once done, let the wax harden for about 10 minutes. After it is fully set, break the long wax strands into tiny rice sized granules. If you find any uneven or misshapen pieces, simply discard them for a more realistic effect. And there you have it, your perfect wax rice, ready to be used for your sushi wax candle. Now let's move to the next method that is creating wax rice without noodle maker. So here, instead, we will use a homemade disposable piping bag to create realistic wax rice. You can either make your own piping bag or use a ready made one. But today, I'll show you how to make one from a simple polythen bag. So first step is making the piping bag. You will start by cutting a polythen bag into a large triangular shape. This will help form the perfect cone. Take the stage and begin folding it carefully, rolling it into a cone shape. Once you have completed, about three or four folds, secure the structure using saltape. You can add an extra tape for durability if needed. Next step is filling and sealing the piping bag. Pour melted soy wax into the piping bag. But remember, the wax should be semi solid, not too runny, not too thick. Now fold the top of the bag three to four times to secure it properly. Use tape to seal the top and prevent any spills. Yes, i. Now we will create wax rice. Carefully cut a small hole at the nosle just enough for the wax to come out in rice size drops. Hold the piping back firmly and gently squeeze from the top to press out the wax. If the hole is too small, trim it slightly for better flow. Work quickly as a wax can start hardening inside the bag. Once the rice shapes are set, you can break longer stands into smaller grains for a more realistic look. And that's it. Perfect wax rice without a noodle maker. This method is also super simple and effective. And you can experiment with different noses sizes to get varied textures. See you in the next module. 6. Shaping the Sushi Wax Candle: Now that we have our melted soyax, let's start giving shape to our sushi candle. I melted 30 grams of soyax using a double boiler. To achieve a whiter opaque look, I have added white colour, but this step is completely optional. Today, I'm using lily fragrance, but feel free to choose any fragrance you like. About ten to 15 drops should be enough. Just make sure to mix it thoroughly so that the fragrance spreads evenly. As the wax starts thickening, I will quickly transfer it onto a silicon mat. Always handle hot wax with care. You can use a spoon to mix if it is too warm to touch. Now let's shape our wax into a sushi base. Using gentle pressure, I'm pressing it and molding the wax from all sides. This step requires speed. If the wax hardens too quickly, it becomes difficult to shape. Be patient, as sometimes a wax may take a little longer to hold its form. If any cracks appear, don't worry. Rub them lightly to smooth them out. Now let the wax harden fully. It might take two to 3 hours. As you can see, after 2 hours, our wax is completely solid. Now it's time to refine the shape. Using a sharp knife, I'm carefully trimming the upper part to create a smooth straight surface. And the sides also need shaping. So I'm cutting and smoothing them out for a polished finish. And there we have it. The base for our sushi candle is ready. 7. Creating the Black Outer Layer: So our next step is creating the black outer layer for our sushi candle. For this, I'm using black powdered candle pigment. See, this is a pigment. Now, I'm applying directly onto the sides of the candle. Since it is a powder, it creates a beautiful matte finish. It doesn't create a glossy look, but if you want a glossy look, so what you had to do, simply mix a pigment with a little oil before applying it. I recommend using coconut oil as it blends well and gives the wax a smooth, polished appearance. So mix the pigment nicely in the coconut oil, in the oil, and then rub lightly onto the sides of the sushi candle. Very carefully, you have to do it. Only on the sides. See nice glossy look. It's looking pretty. In cold weather, the pigment hardens and adheres nicely to the wax, creating a solid finish. But if you are in a warmer climate, here is a great alternative. Painting the outer layer with acrylic paint. Here you can take black acrylic paint. Apply it directly. Don't dilute it. Use a paint brush to apply it. You can take two number or three number brush. Flat brush would be better. Paint the outer area only, not the upper and lower one. See, it's turning out lovely, and the texture looks rich and vibrant. And there you have it the perfect black sushi wrap effect for our candle. Before moving forward, let's give the acrylic paint time to dry. Leave it overnight so that it sets completely. This ensures a smooth and firm surface for the next steps. The next day, we will begin decorating. 8. Decorating the Sushi Candle: Now that we have created the sushi base and applied the black outer layer, it's time to bring our candle to life by adding wax rice and colorful chopped wax veggies. So to make our sushi candle look realistic, we will start by adding wax rice on top. The first step is we will use a heat gun to gently soften the upper layer of the sushi candle. Quickly place the wax rice over the softened wax and press lightly to help it stick. Let it set for 15, 20 minutes. So the rice adheres properly before moving on. There is an important tip. When using the heat gun, be careful not to overheat the wax, as it can distort the rice shapes or cause them to melt entirely. Now our next step, that is adding chopped wax veggies. Let's add some vibrant chopped wax veggies for a pop of color. Again, soften the wax rice layer slightly with the heat gun, but just enough to make it techy. Quickly place a chopped colorful wax veggies onto the rice section. Lightly press them into place so they adhere properly. After this step, our sushi candle decoration is complete. It is looking bright, textured and beautifully detailed. Lovely. 9. Inserting the Wick: Now it's time for the last step fixing the wick to complete our sushi candle. You will need a wick with a sustainer to keep it stable. A long needle or a candle wick needle tool will help create a hole in the wix for easy insertion. Using the needle tool, carefully make a hole in the center of the candle. From the backside, insert the wick into the hole and press it gently to secure it in place. Cut the wick leaving about one fourth inch exposed at the top. This ensures a clean and even burning. And with that, our sushi candle is complete. It looks amazing, perfectly crafted with a realistic texture and vibrant details. Now it's ready to be displayed or gifted a beautifully handmade, one of a kind creation. 10.
