1. Intro: Hi and welcome to this course. My name is coming out and then a little straighter, We have a tendency to draw things the way we think they are instead of the way they really are. If someone asks you to drive that, you'll probably end up drawing something like this when you really wanted to draw something more like this. Learning how to see the way an artist us is the key to throwing things better and more accurately in this course. Ready to bring easy and fun exercise that will help you master that skill of scene. You'll understand where do these throwing better has come from and help get rid of them. This is a are in there from the course, so you don't need any prior knowledge. All you need to do is to grab a piece of paper and a pencil and stuff. Okay, So what are you waiting for? Let's get started 2. Seeing Like an Artist: in order to draw like an artist, you needs to see like an artist. But how do you do that? First, you need to understand that there's a battle bench in your brain and your eyes. Your eye sees things. Justus. They are. And since the images to your brain but air bring love, simplifying things. So it's great symbols to represent everything you see. And when you draw, your brain takes control and you accept growing not the thing you're actually seeing, but a representation of it. Okay, so I want you to try this so you can see it for yourself. Pause the video and try to draw three a house and a called from memory very quickly. Nothing fancy. You probably drew something like this. These air, the symbols our brains created to represent both things. This is more obvious if you draw from memory. But that's also the reason why you can draw something accurately, even when you're using a reference image. Well, the funny thing is that most of these symbols work learned or grated by our brains when we were kids. If you see it a child drawing, you'll probably recognize the same patterns if you still have your drones from when you were a kid or a teenager, great exercises to analyze them and look for symbols or drawing patterns that still appear in your growing today. This will help you understand your drawings from today. Better. There's nothing wrong to draw things this way if you're artists stylized, but this needs to be a conscious decision. You need to be able to draw things realistically if you need or want to. The best professional artists learned to draw realistically before finding their own style . I want to show you a more practical example of how learning how to see can improve your growing. I asked my husband, who is not an artist, to draw this, I hear, and then I draw this night. Our drones are not based in this reference image. This is just a reference to help us seen how and I actually is. So the first thing that grabs my attention is that he drew the eye as a perfect lives. This is a very common the mistake between beginners, but you feel look at the photo. You'll see that the eye has this kind of triangular shape and then the elliptical shape. Another mistake made is that he threw the eyelashes very straight. But look at the image. You'll see that they're curved. You can see that his drawing, how his brain thinks and I is instead of how it actually is, his brain created this simplifications who had presented the I. When we're growing, we need to learn how to see things as a bunch of shapes, lines and angles so we can get rid of the symbols, our brains. Great. We're gonna do three easy and fun exercises that will help you freak your brain and draw things as they really are. 3. Drawing Upside Down: the first exercise we're gonna do is drawing upside. Now we're gonna take erosions image and copied upside down. This will help you draw things exactly as they are. Your brain has trouble recognizing things when they're upside down and the sheer bring can't recognize something. It won't have a symbol for that and wanted her fearing. Learn growing. You'll feel some resistance at the beginning, but it's very important to not turn the picture until you finish the drawing. This exercise will also help you be more aware off the relations between proportions and they goes, which will help you draw more accurately instead of thinking. How do I drop is our get used to asking questions like, How do we draw the shape? What's the relation between these two shapes, or what is the single here? Get used to seeing things of lines, shapes and angles. This could be done with photos, too, but it's easier to start with throwing with a clear contour. Answer familiarized. With the exercise, you can use it to draw any reference image. You're having trouble growing the Isar, the trickiest part in this growing because even upside down you can recognize them as eyes , but do your best. And don't be afraid to erase and redraw as many times you need to. Good. Okay, so this is the result. Now we're gonna move on to the next exercise. 4. Blind Contour Drawing: The second exercise we're gonna dio is a blind contra drawing. All you need to do is to drop your reference picture without looking at the paper. Yeah, it's very scary at first, but totally worth it. And looking at the Russians image in my monitor and throwing on my tablet, you could also do these exercise with objects from your house or draw friend. This exercise will make you really see what's in front of you. You'll be amazed at how many details you'll notice. You also learn how to be more confident and less scared of mistakes. The result of this exercise is gonna be a mess as your problem imagine. But that's OK. You need to make lots of bed drawings in order to make good throwing someday. This will teach you to enjoy the process more than the result. This exercise is an awesome warm up that you can do every day before you're growing practice. It will be very tempting. Toe, look at the paper. But don't do this. Okay, so this is the result. I have a to the the end result is even better than you expected. Now we're going to move on to our less exercise 5. Drawing the Negative Space: Now we're gonna do a negative space throwing. But first we need to know what negative space is. Negative space can be defined as the space around the object. So in this case, the leaf is the positive space in the area around it is the negative space. Very simple. Great example of that place with negative space is this famous illusion known as rubbing face. If you consider this area is the negative space, you see a face. But if you consider this area of the negative space, you see two faces. But how negative spaces can help you draw better. We're going to draw this chair. Our brains know that this is a chair and already have a preconceived symbol for this. For our brains. Don't have any preconceived simple for the era's around the chair. So it's much easier to draw what we're actually seeing here. So let's start drone. We're gonna draw the area around the chair and the chair is gonna magically appear. If you're having trouble to visualize the negative space, you can paint it in the picture. First. I turned the picture black and white because it makes easier to visualize the contrast and the shapes thistles, a very useful tip that works with any drawing and any reference picture without the distraction of colors. It's much easier to see things right. Many teach the largest bank, the teacher black and white, laying all the shuttles and lights first before you start coloring it. - This is stands result if you want. Instead of painting the negative space like I did, you can writes Contour. This way, you'll end up with a perfect quarter off your subject in this case, the chair, and all you need to do is to add internals, internal details and colors. 6. Your Turn!: for your protect. Do the exercises you learned in this course you can download the PDS. I prepared with some extra images for you for an extra challenge for a realistic I using the techniques you learned in this class. Don't forget to share your drawing so I can give you feedback. I can't wait to see your project. Thank you so much for watching this class. Please leave a review so I can keep improving my next classes by
