1. Welcome to this class!: Hello guys and
welcome to this class on powerful pieces
of advice from successful people that
will help guide you on the right path and towards the right actions and decisions. My name is Alex and I'm a
passionate reader that has been going through
self-development books for quite some time now, when I heard of the
possibility of creating a course to explain more
about the ins and outs. I was quite eager
to develop one. This class will be structured in five lessons that contain
practical steps for you to take in order to
understand exactly how you can leave a more intentional
and meaningful life. But also what are some of the best thought patterns and habits used by accomplished
people out there. If you are interested
in bettering yourself, AMU or routines. This course is for you. There are no other prerequisites then a device with an
Internet connection. As for the project
of this class, it will be extremely practical
and it will involve you to follow one of the activities presented during this course. So you can start on your journey of being
more productive and understanding how the
most affluent people got to where they are
with all this said, I think we are ready. See you in the first lesson.
2. A Morning Routine: Welcome to the first
lesson, a morning routine. Jack who will link is a US Navy Seals commander who
spent 20 years in the army. This guy has two
things he lives by. The first one is
discipline equals freedom. And the second one is you win the day by winning the morning. There are a ton of videos
that endorsed the idea of how powerful a morning routine is and what habits it
should consist of. Tim Ferriss and quite a
few of his podcast guests, all successful people talk about their morning
routines, habits. After going through them, you can see some similarities. And I extracted for you
the main activities. It all starts the night
before when you can drink a cocktail that is both healthy and will make
you more sleepy. The recipe for this
is very simple. You make a cup of hot
water and you add to it two tablespoons of apple vinegar and one tablespoon of honey. You should drink these 30
minutes before going to bed. Ten minutes of playing
Tetris right before bed is another piece of advice that will help you fall
asleep quicker. Also, it is advised
that you avoid screens for an hour prior
to hitting the sack. I can see why this
would be difficult. However, you can at least enable the night
shift on your phone. So it lowers the blue
light upon waking up, which should be at the
same time every day, you start by making your bed. This will give you a sense
of achieving something and sets the tone for winning the rest of
the day as well. Make sure to get
sunlight into your eyes. As soon as you wake up, it will help your circadian
rhythm. In the long run. There are two activities
that a lot of guests, as well as Theme held
in high regard for boosting productivity and
bettering mental health. They are may be patient for five to ten minutes
and join online, which is done in a specific way and acts as cheap therapy. We'll cover each of these in more detail during some
of the upcoming lessons. So don't worry, you
may know that we need to get 10 thousand
steps in per day. Maybe that is a bit
much for some of us, but you can take a walk outside
in the morning this way, stacking up on some
vitamin D as well. Physical exercise is another big pillar
in our well-being. Depending if the time allows, you may want to have
a workout or around if you do not have the time
to do any of the above, I suggest doing five to
ten reps of an exercise. Beat squats, burpees,
or push-ups. As you don't need any
additional equipment for these, they will help you
wake up and light up your nervous system
besides breakfast, which I will leave it
to your preference. Even though a
healthier option like overnight oats or
scrambled eggs is advice, you can start drinking tea. Some types have huge
health benefits. My choice is green tea. It has antioxidants that
help prevent cancer. It boosts your immunity and all while also helping you
lose weight and burn fat. Some other good choices would
be all along, or black tea. If you start
implementing some of these habits into
your morning routine, I am sure it will better the chances of your
day being much more productive and in line with your values as the
Roman emperor, Marcus Aurelius would say, you have power over your
mind, not outside events. This is what we will
learn to control in our next lesson regarding
meditation and happiness.
3. Meditation and Happiness: Hi there. This is the lesson
where we go a bit deeper into the
practice of meditation. Let's try to understand the
reasons why if p is chosen as the daily activity by both team and most of these
very successful guests. First of all, what
is meditation? Even though there are an
array of different types, the most common one would be defined as actively
trying to not think about anything in
particular other than what is going on
in the present moment. May be sound, visuals, or the air going slowly
in and out of your lungs. Different distracting thoughts
will still come to you. If this happens, don't
consider you have failed. If that is not the case, just passively
observe the thought and let it go while
continuing on. Remember, you are
not your thoughts. The point of meditation
is to make more mindful. Mindfulness is the quality of the mind that allows you
to pay attention to sight, sound, and sensations without
being lost in thought. For the duration. It highly depends
on your schedule. It is said that it takes at
least ten minutes daily for about eight weeks in order to really start
noticing the benefits. Don't feel discouraged
or intimidated by that statistical
point of view on this was that you can do
one deep breath or they definitely think you
do after that is a bonus. As you will end up
doing more than that. Anyway. Everyone has the
time and concentration to do a quiet deep breath with
their mind being blank. As far as the benefits
of the meditation go, it improves the
quality of your sleep. It reduces stress. It helps you focus on present. It increases your
tolerance and patience, all while also lowering your resting heart rate
and blood pressure. I feel like the return on
investment in time that you put into this is very
high and completely worth it. Some of the most powerful and rich people leaving now with these are meditating daily
and indoors these activity, I do not think that
is a coincidence. People have reported
feeling more relaxed and happier after practicing
meditation for awhile. Another trick that will help your happiness is to silently think of a loved one and
wish them to be happy. Getting back to meditation, there are several
studies showing that most people are
focusing on acquiring material stuff or getting job promotions in order to
be more happy and fulfilled. While it is true that
if they succeed, they are happier for awhile. There happiness returns
to baseline quickly. The long term healthy
strategy of being happy has always
been to be content. I am thankful for
what you have in the present while also
striving to better yourself. And this is why meditation is so detrimental to happiness. Because it teaches you the
power of the present moment. It makes you observe it
and appreciate it more. Instead of thinking, when
I will buy that car, I will finally be so happy. Gratitude is a positive
emotional state in which one recognizes and appreciate what
one has received in life. This habit is given in
time, my meditation, but also ties in
with the topic of our next lesson,
which is journaling. You will see how in
just a few moments.
4. Journaling and Morning pages: Welcome to this
lesson on journaling. Journaling has been
picked up lately in the product PvP
circles around the world. But they never thought
this was for me. I had my stereotypes
regarding this activity. Things along the lines
of heat, these useless, it is for girls in their teens and it will not
help me whatsoever. Well, apparently, I was wrong. Keeping track of your day in an organized manner can help you in the long run from a
lot of perspectives. If you think about it two
years ago on this date, you will most likely
not know what happened or what
went well and less well beyond its main role of documenting your
life and giving you a broader perspective
by allowing you to look backwards in detail
at things you forgot. Join on link has mental
de-cluttering benefits as well. Those can be achieved if you
practice a specific type of journaling called by
theme morning pages. The activity is pretty simple. At some point during
your morning routine, you sit down and
start writing in a notebook or in a
note-taking app. The things that keep popping
off in your head constantly. Don't worry if it doesn't look good as it is not supposed to. The role of this activity
is to bring vomit these thoughts that
otherwise would stay in your mind
for the whole day. Rico shame around. It will get you
unstuck and clear your mind from any
disturbing thoughts left. This is why this activity
is also called by theme, the cheapest form of therapy
that he was able to find. I have to say that
I do this when I find myself fixated
on a thing that happened and ease
out of my control miraculously after I write about it and articulate
my thoughts, the problem seems to lose its amplitude along with its
previous grip it had on me. Make sure though you want to use this technique in a toxic way. If there is a serious
problem you need to face or you can do something about
trying to forget about it. We'll come back later. And in uglier ways. Also, this should not
take lot of time. I think five minutes and a few lines should
be enough to get you unstuck and ready
to tackle the rest of your day in a
much cleaner way. You can combine morning pages with two more,
three bullet lists. Their title is self-explanatory. In the morning, you should list three things that you
are grateful for. Either material stuff
or relationships with. People work fine here in time. You can get creative with
it by looking around you. For example, an entry
that I did today was, I am grateful for my laptop, which was working amazing. The comfort of my home
where I can exist, unbothered and
great smart people that wrote books or
thought about stuff. And then made that
information public for me to use and benefit from. In time. This will make you
happier by making you realize all the blessings you
have and take for granted. In the evening, the
least you should drive is called three amazing
things up to date. Here, you can take
note of all of you are winds or things that went
well during that day. This is a very concentrated
and time-efficient way of summarizing the day while also focusing on the full
part of your glass. Getting back to
your days will also feel easy and easy
to understand. When you constantly think
back at what went on, you will start to
strengthen your memory. Tracking progress and
growth will be easier. And writing all this stuff
will help you improve your communication
skills as well. We thought these benefits, I think you can give journaling a chance for a brief period in order to find out
if it helps you get closer to the productive
life you dream off. Successful people often
had mentors that helped them one way or another to achieve the things
they were amazing app. Now it is their turn to share
those species of advice. And these are exactly what we will go through in
the next lesson. See you there.
5. Pieces of Advice: Welcome to this lesson
on pieces of advice. Going through the words of all
these accomplished people, I selected quite a
few pieces of advice. We'll go through them in detail in order to get
the most out of them. You need to keep in mind though, that a lot of people
know a lot of things. Often the separator between
those who make it and those who don't know is how
much they put what they know. It's good into
practice. It is hard. It will take discipline. But if you want start to
implement what you learn, it will be the
same as if you did not know about it
in the first place. With that said,
let's get started. I am more than sure
that if you close your eyes right now and
start to think about it, you have a pretty clear picture of what your dream
life would look like. Either if you already
started to work towards it or you
are partly there. You know what you would love. Where would you live? What degree of freedom would
you have on a daily basis? What types of persons and activities would be in
your life and so on. Well, how about you
do some little tests? Try a few months of leaving
the life you think you want. But leave yourself an
exit plan being opened to the big chance
that you might not like it after
actually trying it. Instead of saving up
the down payment for the big house and
renting it for a bit. This term means an awesome
idea is more often than not, we just think we'd
like something, but really like the idea of it. For example, when you
think about watching a movie or playing a
game with a friend, I often find these
thoughts being more funny than the activity
ends up being itself. So I guess do not
trash and leave yourself an exit plan
to avoid getting stuck. The second piece of
advice is that you do not need to be an expert to
start doing something. Of course, starting out, maybe you want to be the best. But if you see an activity
that you might enjoy, why not try it? This is exactly the
type of mindset that allows people to start YouTube
channels on their passion, having podcasts or
successful businesses. It doesn't have to be that
big of a deal either. I always found watching here
getting cut satisfying. So I will start giving
myself some haircut. Maybe I won't be a
stylist right away, but with time, I will
get better at it. As you can see, you can apply this strategy with some
simple hobbies as well. It is all about getting better
and not to avoid failing. Failing helps you to avoid the same mistakes
in the future. The mindset with which you
do things in your life. Maybe your personal finances, you or job or side hustle
matters more than you think. If you have more of a lazy day, you might take things easy. But I would not do
that in the long run. And how do you avoid doing that? Well, you can think
then x n naught, then per cent better. As it turns out, it is not a 100 times harder, but the reward is a
100 times bigger. Always keep your mind open
for the bigger picture. A lot of people struggled to fix their weaknesses
in their lifetime. And theme is a bit
skeptical of this idea. Instead, he says, you should focus on leveraging
your strengths. If it comes to thinking
about this, it makes sense. Our job or business is the
main source of income for us. And we get to doing what
we do by continuing to focus on it and thus
leveraging our strength. The final point is
regarding which activities you should undertake and
give your attention to. For this, we should have a
simple decision-making system. If it isn't a definite
and excited yes, then refuse to take
any part in it. By implementing
this, you will be able to prioritize
the things you are really excited about or are
the most important to you. Personally. We will not be on
this earth forever. And I'm a true believer in
the fact that we should do the most out of what
amount of time we have. This is why this advice
really put its mark on me. Some people have a
preferred saying, a mantra, if you will, that guide most
of their actions and life. It consists of highly
thought about concepts and all these wisdom is
concentrated in a tiny battle. We will look at the slogans of these successful people
in our next lesson.
6. Quotes: Welcome to this
lesson on quotes. Even though it's not
always the case, accomplished people becomes
so by repeating actions that are based on higher values and
delayed gratification. These habits are coming from past generations of wise people, discovered them after
failing numerous times. They are giving
you the chance to listen to them and
apply what they preach. More often than not, quotes, if understood properly, have the same
life-changing effect. Getting started with, my
work isn't done tonight. My work was done
three months ago. And I just have to show up. This one really emphasizes
the power of preparation. Also, if preparation
is done properly, being nervous is futile
and should be avoided as much as you can when the moment of the
event is approaching. This ties in perfectly
with the next one. I need the ready or I'm
not worrying about it. Now in Ghana, change
a thing, right? Whatever is going to
happen is gonna happen. Iv, they're done
everything I can to be ready for this or I haven't. The stoicism school of
philosophy teaches us to focus on the things we can control and let go of the things we dont. This will make you
happier and more intentional in the actions
you decide to undertake. If you set your goals ridiculously high
and it's a failure, you will fail above
anybody else's success. Ambition is a very powerful
character trait in person. Doing the best you can combine with a goal
set high enough, We'll get you very far, especially if you
believe in yourself and surround yourself with
the right type of people. Life is always happening
for us, not to us. It is our job to find out
where the benefit is. If we do, life is magnificent. As touched on before. When failing, you have
the opportunity to learn and not make
the same mistake. Again, that is much more powerful than succeeding
in something. Most successful
person's failed the most before they
are able to come. What DR. today,
when you see them, you have the tendency to
believe they always want, which is just false. And discouraging. Always set yourself
up for a win. But whenever you feel, keep in mind you are able
to learn something there. Even if the situation
is out of your control. Try to apply the same mindset
when retrospectives on it. I got to cheer for me before anyone else can cheer for me. This one is actually a quote
from the rapper Kanye, when he was asked
about why he has a painting of himself
in his house, goes back to show you how
important it is to believe in yourself and always be
your biggest supporter. The faster you move, the slower time passes, the longer you leave. As long as you don't compromise inequality by speeding
up the process. Being fast is a positive trait. Don't necessarily strive for it when you are just
starting out with something. But as you do it repeatedly, you are speed should
improve as well. I noticed myself that
being fast allows you to do more things and
that is very powerful. The Wisdom of Life consists of removing
the non essentials. When you advance in your career and become more
financially stable, you will tend to buy more
things from your wish list. However, all this
clutter can become messy and more of
a burden to you. Then something helping you out. Finding a balance
is the solution. If you find the expensive stuff that you actually use often, I'm all for it. But having stuff
that you never use, laying around, taking up space, or having liabilities
in order to impress other people are not the
right frameworks to have. At the end of the day, we all work to have
the things we want. Just be careful to not
fall into the trap of permitting the things you
own to end up owning you. Lastly, courage is a skill
you have to develop. Life shrinks or expands in
proportion to ones Courage. More often than not, the things you fear or dread the most are the things you
should do right now, would be the most important
regarding your evolution. Courage is there for a reason and helps us not
to get in trouble, but leaving a life
dictated by it is wrong. Take it into account. Don't ignore it, but learn
to do things despite it. The most things worth having are probably
outside your comfort zone. Thank you very much for watching this class up until the end. I really hope some of the
habits I talked about here will be applied by you and we will help
you in the long run. I will see you guys in future
classes Have a good one.
7. My self-improvement routine: Hello guys and welcome
to this bonus lecture. In this lesson, I'm
going to talk more freely and in an unscripted way, different from the
rest of the course. And in it, I'm going to
tell you my experience with the self-improvement
journey and kind of what I do exactly
on a daily basis, more or less, at least what I'm trying to do on a
daily basis regarding self-improvement and
the habits that I acquired from reading all
these self-improvement books. Now, the first
thing that I do is a morning routine that
I do pretty much daily, sometimes not on the
weekends though. If I have a party that is later in the night or something like that on Friday or Saturday, then the next day I want to
do this morning routine. But at least for the
weekdays if I'm not sick or I get the
right amount of sleep, which we are going to
talk about in a minute. I will do this morning routine, which is basically I wake up. And as soon as I wake up, I go to my window and my phone is the one that
wakes me up with its alarm. I don't have a clock,
which I heard. Some people say that it
would be nice to wake up with a clock and actual clock because that would not disturb
you in on a phone, does not have the same thing. Temptation to go on Instagram, check your email, and so on, as soon as you wake up. So you need to avoid doing
that the way I do it. I don't do that. I have my phone by the window and when the alarm wakes up, I open up my blinds and I
just open up the window and get sunlight into
my eyes as soon as they wake up and they're
also close the alarm. And then I put my phone down. Also, my phone stays on airplane mode for
the whole night. Anytime I sleep, actually, my phone is on airplane mode. So if I take an afternoon
nap or something like that, my phone will be on
airplane mode as well because I don't
want any means defecation or coal to wake me up and distract
me from my rest. As soon as I do that after I
get sunlight into my eyes, which kind of takes care
of my circadian rhythm. I go on, brush my teeth and make myself a cup
of hot green tea. I already discussed the
advantages of PNP in this course. We're not going to go
through them again. And as I sit down with
my hut cup of tea, I'm going to start
tweeting something. Reading is an action that takes the most amount of
discipline from me. And in this era of social media, you can understand
that it is quite hard, especially for young
person to read. And that's why I do it. The first thing in the
morning when I'm most rested, most aware and with the
most amount of discipline, we'll start reading right now. I am reading Tools of
Titans from Tim Ferriss. I also bought a
book from Amazon, The Psychology of money, which I'm also planning to read. And I also have a reading list, which if you are
interested in it, I won't put in the
class description. As I said, I'm starting to read. Then after I started tweeting, about one or two hours
after I wake up, I will check my
e-mails in my side, hustles that and
things of that nature. So as you can see, I invest in myself first when I wake up, I usually will start
work at about 101030, which is about after I finished my checking
of the emails, but also before I go to work, I will do my breakfast, which is actually
blend it, shake. I put in their own almond milk, berries, blueberries,
strawberries, raspberries. I also do peanut butter and
also helps with open Nano. So that is my vegan
healthy breakfast. And then I will go to work. One thing, I always make sure
to do this exercise and do that at about 12
o'clock in the morning. And I do that with one
meal in the breakfast. After I finished work. I noticed that I am kind of tired already because I'm
more of a morning person and I have the most amount of focus in the mornings and they usually do the hardest tasks. As you already heard. The first thing in the morning. If I have to do some errands, I will do them after
work and things that don't require that much focus. Things like washing the dishes, laundry, buying
things that I need. And maybe I will dedicate some time to some recreational
hobbies that are, again, not that hard to
understand the steps for them. And also they are quite pleasurable and I do not get
more tired by doing them. I also tried to eat healthy not as healthy
as the breakfast, the first meal that
I told you about. But I'm trying to eat quite well for my recovery
from exercise. I will try to not eat sugar. I don't always get that right, especially if there are candies
around my house or sweet. But I tried to do my best
and I tried to eat fruit. On lunchtime, I usually eat either rice or potatoes
that are baked in the oven. For my protein, I usually do Selma and, or chicken breast. Also, with this, I
will have a serving of frozen vegetables that
I saute in the pen. I usually do either broccoli
or Mexican sort of mix. And then for my third
meal that I get, usually at four
in the afternoon, I will do route. Again, maybe strawberries, another half a banana
and blueberries. I get some pineapple
that is can a kiwi. And again, if you did not heard about cubbies
up to this point, you should search them up
because they are a superfood. Even though I hate this term, you can research them and
find out why they are so good and try to implement
one per day in your diet. Is saying from the tuition
is to actually let, if you try to eat
one fruit a day, it should be a kiwi. Is that as the most
amount of nutrients? And also it is the most
bank for your buck, basically, alongside
these foods, I also get a protein shake. You do not need to do this. If you do not lift
weights, I exercises, I've said so I need quite some more protein
than the next person. I do Vegan protein again. So as you can see, I'm not vegan because I eat meat at lunchtime, but I tried to eat only one
portion of meat per day. And I tried to not surpass that. This is just my belief. And it feeds my sort of genetics because I am predisposed to some
sort of stuff. So I tried to not
eat that much meat, especially red meat
or processed meats, like bacon, sausages, hot dogs, and foods of that nature. For dinner, I will do something
simple again, without me. I will try to do
some sort of pasta. And I either do an audio or audio recipe
with some parmesan on top, or I will do red sauce, onions, mushrooms,
and permission again. So that's for dinner. I heard some people are actually trying to read
before they go to sleep. I am not doing that. If I would do, I would choose something that's not a
self-development book. I would choose something
that's more recreational, like a fictional book or
something of that nature. One more thing that I do in
the morning and I forgot to tell you is that I journal. And I only do that if I
have something stuck in my mind from the night before or some event that
happened in the past. And I find myself
that I keep thinking about it and I do morning pages. And I will write about
that event in detail. And then by some miracle, I start to think
about it less often. And ice, which is
to do the same, also 23 bullet lists. I already touched upon
this some previous lesson. They are in the morning, three things you appreciate, and in the evening, three amazing things
that happened today. But other than that,
in the evening, sometimes I play video
games with my friends. I tried to get some
socializing gone. But again, this is
not every evening. Usually it is on the weekends and maybe one night per week. I also watched TV series or things of that
nature sell well, I'm not completely
without entertainment. I think you should get
some fun out of your life, even though you are
serious and you are on your self-improvement
journey. That doesn't mean
that you need to become a monk and nut Have fun. As far as my use of phone goes, I usually try to not use it
up until 12 o'clock at all. Maybe we'll deactivate
my airplane mode and see if I have
any urgent messages. But if I don't, I usually don't touch it up until 12 o'clock. And you usually also
tried to not touch social media before five PM
in the evening after work. And I noticed a lot of
mental health benefits from limiting the amount of time you spend
on social media. So you can try that as well. Especially if you find yourself
addicted to these kind of platforms and QC that you
spend one or two hours. Per day on these apps, that should not be something you're looking
forward to doing the long run. Besides the fact that you lose a lot of time
by doing this, you also become
addicted to them. So maybe you can look
into that as well. I also, in the evening, put my sleep schedule
in a way in which I am sure that I will get
eight hours of sleeping. Eight hours of sleep does
not mean eight hours in bed because it takes
time to fall asleep. And also, if you wake
up during the night, then again, that does not count toward D
were asleep amount. So I tried to get nine hours
in bed instead of eight. Usually, I go to sleep around
11 and I wake up at eight. Having a constant waking up time will help your circadian rhythm. And after you do
this for a while, you will start noticing that you will wake up at that time. Even if you do not
have an alarm, you will wake up
naturally at the tower. And it is quite nice
because you will not feel rushed and you will also not hear that sound of
alarm in your head. That makes you are wake-up
experienced much worse, at least this is the case
for me to improve my sleep. I also have quite
a good mattress. Is not really that sophisticated
or dead expensive, but is quite decent. One from ikea. I have Dwight's
that actually make my room extremely dark so
I cannot see anything. And ideally, you would want your room temperature to be quite low when you fall asleep, around 18 degrees Celsius. Even though I find
that to be quite low. And you also need to be covered to sleep at
that temperature. But if you are sleeping in a
sort of hot and humid room, if it is not in the winter. And even if it is in the window, if it is too hot, you will see you or
quality of sleep decrease. It isn't needed to
be quite chilly, newer room for you
to have good sleep. And also by n invests in some quality blinds that will
not let any light through. I've heard about this
thing that your body senses light even though
you do not actually see it. There were, there was an
experiment where a ray of light was put on the feet of people and
they actually palpate. You can look into
earplugs as well if you find yourself Leaving maybe next to a train station or in a loud environment with flatmate
that make lot of noise. Your blacks are your best
friend and will also improve your quality of sleep and not wake up in the
middle of the night. Or even be close to waking up because they
are more stages to sleep. There is deep sleep,
there is light sleep. And you want to be more on the deep sleep
spectrum. That happens. I think one or half an hour, every hour and a
half word three. Do not quote me on that. You can look up REM, sleep, and get your exact data
from the Internet. But I would say these are the general guidelines that are used to guide my life
in a positive way. Also tried to not get stressed too much at work or in general, is that increases
your cortisol and can actually decrease your
immune system and make you more prone
to some diseases. So try to not get
stressed and also upset. Understand this stuff you can
really control sometimes, but as much as you
can try to not do it. The work that you
do, you should take pride beam and you
shoot like what you do. If you don't like it, maybe you can work out a plan to switch jobs or
things like that. If you are in a position
that allows you to do that. But besides that, that would be about the things that I
do on a daily basis to improve my actions based on values and make my
life more intent form, and also accomplished
and successful. Thank you very much for
listening to this bonus lesson. And if you have any questions, I'm looking forward
to see them in the common section and until the next lesson.
Have a good one.
8. Private victories: Hello guys and welcome
back to this class. This is another lesson
that is unscripted. And I talk more freely, neat on advice that I will
give you in order to live a more successful life and have actions that are
actually based on values, instead, temptations and urges
that you get as a human. First of all, I would
like to talk a bit about the concept of
private victory is this is a concept that is
very well known in the circles of more
wealthy people. And I have seen it even
tattooed on some guys. And basically, it says
that you should set your goal or goals in silence without talking about
them, with anybody else. And also, if you get that goal set and
not the higher goal, but also have that victory in private or with some
very close people, but don't show off. First of all, the reason you should not tell
you or go to anybody, especially right after
you set it, right, is because when you set a goal, Let's say you want to go to gym three times a week
from next Monday, then you are pretty
excited about this activity as
it is new for you. And you have some dopamine, but not that much, right? Because you still
have to show up and do the actual activity. Well, if at that point right
after you set your goal, before you do any of it, you go to your friend or anybody for that
matter and tell them, Oh, I am going to go to
the gym three times a day. And that person maybe it's
not going to the gym or he's, and he considers
that be quite nice. He is going to be amazed at you that you are going
to go and do that. And the amount of discipline
that you will display, he will encourage you and you will get basically
some positive feedback. He will be astonished. He would say, that's a
very good habit to have. Go on. And at that point, you are going to feel like you have actually
accomplished something. And you will have some dopamine, even though you did nothing at all by this dopamine
hitting you, even though in not
that big of an amount, you will feel less motivated
to actually go and do that activity
starting next Monday. That is actually huge
rule that is true. And I have seen it on my actual habits that you should not tell anybody
what you're trying to do. You should set your
goals in private and also have private victories. When you accomplish a goal, you tell someone they're
going to be happy for you, but also at the same time, especially if they are not
close to you or family, they are going to want to get something out of
it for themselves. Either if it is a dinner out, now that you have more
possibilities or things like that, and you don't
actually need that. Especially from, as I've said, people that are not
that close to you. You should also keep
to yourself if you accomplish a goal and also
then set a higher goal, because your work
will never be done. You will never stop working
if you think about it, because you might think you
would want to stop working. But actually, if
you would do that, you would be sad and miserable
and without purpose. And people can live
without purposes. You might say that you
want to travel and you can also do that while working,
especially nowadays. That is not an excuse or the right mindset,
the right mindset. Now switching up to the
second part of this lecture, which is why in the
financial space, the right mindset to have is not going to work
very hard right now. So I can put some money
aside, save some money, and then put that into
some investments like stocks or index funds
or real estate, then have that passive income, cover my expenses and
I can retire it 40. That is not the right mindset to have from two points of view. The first one, as I've said, people without purpose can't
really leave and be happy. And that's why you see a
lot of miserable kids of very rich people that have received all the
money in the world. They are not happy. Money does not correlate with
happiness after a point, especially after all
your needs are met, the money that you have beyond that point will not
make you any happier. And if you have a lot of money
that you did not work for, or even if it worked for them, will not make you
proportionally happy. If you have a lot of them and
you did not work for them. They can also make
you miserable. But getting back to
the previous point, this is the first reason why
the wrong mindset to have is I will work up
to a certain age and then I will do nothing and live off
of passive income. And the second reason
why this mentality is wrong is because especially
with inflation nowadays, you might get ten to 15 per cent in your investment portfolio. If you invest in the
right things like S&P 500 index fund or real
estate and then rent it, things like that that are
pretty safe and consistent. But with the ramping
keeps inflation, you will basically
stay where you were before you even
start in investing. The right mindset to have
is to always try to improve yourself and your skills
and be ready to work, wake up, excited to
work and help others. Do meaningful things. Have worked that
fulfills you and you feel more accomplished
after doing it. Work in a domain
that you care about. And actually you are
interested about. Instead of a high-paying job, that is net debt fulfilling or making you happy because
you have no interest in it. So don't stay in and
chop just for the money. Especially if you're
in your twenties, you should focus on
building your skills. Having a job that provides a space for you to
learn unnecessarily, or that thing would
say learn and then. But besides this, these were the main takeaways
from this lecture. The first one was
held private victory. And don't share your
goals with anyone. Also, if you accomplish them, only shared them with
close friends or family, and then set higher goals. Always strive to improve
yourself, do meaningful work. This way you will stay fulfilled and accomplished and
happy in the long run. But this was about this lesson. I really hope you guys
get something out of it and I look forward to
see you in the next one.
