1. Class Introduction Video: Hello, My name is Yang. I'm a professional
script writer, TV producer, and director. And I have over ten
years working experience behind me in those that have developed and written
for a number of very successful TV shows
and programs in Ghana. Currently, I develop a produce content on TV that is technical, vocational and ICT education
and skill acquisition. And how those clothes
can easily help you create a job or
career for yourself. I currently do this on YouTube, Facebook, instagram,
Twitter, and LinkedIn. You can find the links to my social media
hundreds in my profile. So for this class really about the best way is to show you a little bit of the class work. What the class is
about is discussed. Let's watch this. I've worked so many videos on the Internet with
great contents, except for how these
videos were recorded. And there's one thing
that I noticed in spite of the amazing content
that they provide, there was something about
the video recording that was not done, right. Usually, they record
in one long on various shots because
the original material was filmed in one
long on vertex shots. When the edit Thompson outs and join those
speeches together. That is what we call a jump
cut at the point of edits. Now, let's watch it. This preliminary people
to come and realize that maybe sold
his company to me. Wow, you're monster. The contract in Liberia. And so because he was leaving, he wanted to sell
the company to me, but we didn't want
to put to know that. I don't want his
family people to know that. That's
what he has done. We sat down, we went on our agreements are for
what's in their mind, but I was able to put lights
report on the Monday. Okay. He means times? Yes. He handed everything
to me that he lives. This is how's most
videos are edited. Okay. The long shots, and he just
added some things out, put them together, and
then it's uploaded. But that's a better way and more appropriate way of
editing such videos. And I'm going to show you
how does seem material. This is how it can be edited to look like
family people to come in and realize
that maybe just sold his company to me. Wow. Let me see. Your master had the
contract in Liberia? Yes. And so because he was leaving, he wanted to sell
the company to me. But we didn't want
to put to know that. I don't want his
family people to know that. That's
what he has done. Okay? Yes. So we sat down, we went on our agreement for
watching diamond, but I was able to
put their money. Okay. And he means times, yes. He handed everything
to me that he lives. So did you notice
the difference? The same clip, the same raw footage, but edited differently? What's the difference here? A very simple skill that
I'm going to teach you to make your videos look better and more exciting and professional, where you can make
the same footage, that same one low borane single image shot footage, cut meat, look like a multiple
camera, work with different viruses
in the image sizes and even movements in the camera
to make it look as if there's a pan and zoom when
in the actual for the, nothing of that
sort ever happened. What everything looks
like a multiple camera work when in actual fact, it was a single camera work. These and many
other things about videos and upload that I see on the internet that I think can
be improved and MIT data. And that's why I want to
offer this course and this class or this
little adolescence, go a long way to
take a lot away from your video in terms of
their professional outlook. So that's why I'm here
to offer you a class where I'll teach you the little
tricks of the trade terms that you should look out
for and how to set up the right way and
make your videos look very professional
and pleasant to look at. So I'm going to be teaching
on three main topics. I'll be talking mainly about script writing, particularly
screen writing. I'll be talking
about videography. We focus on directing. And I'll be talking
about editing videos. I'll be concentrating on
these three because to me, scriptwriting
or screenwriting, videography or directing
and video editing, all the art of storytelling, but done in different formats. So I'm going to be
teaching you the skills, the tricks, and what
you should know. And at the end of each
session of the class, you would have had a
deeper knowledge of and learn some of the tricks
and tips of the tree. And at the end of
the entire course, you will become smarter and multi-talented professional content creator with knowledge, not only about how to do your job better, but
most importantly, you'd have learned how to
leverage your skill too, a carrier and job for yourself. So I'm excited and happy
to impact my experience to you to be an importation of experience and
less of theories. So I'm looking forward to a very interesting and
engaging interaction with you. And of course, to
also learn from you. And I can wait. Come on, let's get rolling.
2. Tips Trikcs & Hacks of recording video that every Video Content Creator Must Know: Hello folks, and welcome to the first class in
the course which are flattered video
content creation. Do it like a proof. This will be part one
of a two-part cos. I need to be mainly for people, will record video or materials. For social media. In particular. This is because I've
watched a number of amazing videos online with amazing content set for how those videos were
recorded or edited. There were a few issues
that I found with those videos that could
have easily been corrected. Which somehow took a lot away from the professional
outlook of these videos. As somebody who is a
trainee TV producer and also produces content for
social media than before. But actually, yes, work
experience behind me. I thought that's why to teach. I explain to people
how to film and edit. This video is to give them a much more
professional outlook. We're going to be
talking about some of the little tricks and
tips in recording video. To be the cost one
then cos two will be on editing videos
to look like a pro. Then clustering will
be on screenwriting. There's a difference
between gets written anything or any script at all. And then writing specifically
for the screen of a video. I'll be showing
you some tricks of the trade in cost rate,
which is screenwriting. So in cross one. So we're going to
be talking about video content creation. Do it like a pro
cross one, part one. The inside tricks, tips and hacks every content
creator must know. So we're going to be
talking about what video recording is
more about unless off. Then we'll talk about the
three basic in the sizes and framing and what each
means and the implication. In post-production. We're going to be talking about the imaginary line and why it is important
to know what it is. And at the same time why it
shouldn't be a hindrance. There will also be talking
about multiple camera work, the advantages and
disadvantages. Then lastly, for part
one of this course, we'll be talking about how
to and tips on filming with a single camera and making it look like a multiple
camera work. They are the end of the course. I'll give you a little exercise. So you go and attack. So we see if you've really understood what
you've talked about. So let's go on and
tackle question one. What we do recording
is more about unless off on the Internet you
see a lot of videos. So I just recorded for
foreign, somebody has to, somebody doing something
interesting and then record and upload this
onto the internet. But for those who are doing specific content to provide
a specific information, it's trying to provide professional services,
particularly for money. They need to structure
how you record your videos because we
do record them to all extinct and purposes is
an art of storytelling. So the first important
to understand is that whenever you recording a video for your
social media handles, you are essentially
telling a story. Therefore, like any
art of storytelling, you should know how
to structure it. So that will attract or make the viewing of your video
much more appealing. You will bear with me that not everybody is a
good storyteller. Give a number of people the same story and ask
them to tell it back. And each person would get the story in a different way
and in a different format. So it is with video recording. You are not just recording, but you are telling a
story with your videos. So there's the need to know some essential things
that you need to know to enable you tell your story in a very interesting
and appealing way. The number one thing I
wanted to know about is the three basic image
sizes and framing. In video recording, there
are varieties of image sizes that you can
frame your video in. Now with image as
if we are talking about how big or small, whatever it is you framing or whatever it is you record it, looks on the screen. So for instance, if you
look at this image, these are the various sizes that you can frame an image of, whatever it is you record any. And each. It's supposed to tell
a different story about what it is. You
add the recording. So we have the
extreme long shot, which usually the center of attraction is usually
a long way off. Then we have the long
short, which is the person. The center of the attraction is a little bit
closer to camera. And then we have the flu shots. We have the median flu
shots. Medium shots. You have the medium close-up. We have the close-up, an extreme close-up, which is also often referred
to as the Chaka. First as this will be
a medium long shots. This long shots. This is a typical close-up. And this is what is
typically a TrueCar. Usually, I typically took
us depending on what it is you want to concentrate on. It could be of the face, the eyes like what we have
on screen or sometimes on the mark or thought I'd guess just above the chin and
then around the forehead, depending on what
it is that you want the viewer to concentrate on. So these are the
various image sizes, and each one is intended to add a specific
effect on the viewer. So usually for anyone to
introduce people to people is usually a medium long
shot, depending on if it's, say, a monologue like
we're doing now, there is a medium long
shots or a medium shot. And then depending on fish
stage or the program, you want people to
get closer to you. You could get close
to a medium close-up and what you want
people to pay much. But as you go to a
close-up in-between these, they are various
directions that you, as the director or the one in charge or
video recording will determine which emits
that will best tell the story that you're telling. Whichever image that you choose. A specific thing about the story or whatever
it is you are filming. So for instance, in the
close-up visuals is used to depict closeness or
to depict emotions, is like when you're
talking to somebody and it's telling you a
story or whatever actors. There are aspects of
storytelling that you prefer to just sit back
and listen to the person. They are aspects
of the stairway. You pay more attention. And then there are
certain aspect of store where you really want to look closely
to the person's eyes. I got to see what is this that the person is feeling or to try and measure the
emotions that the person is speaking with
is the same thing. Whatever it is that
you're recording, there's the need for you
to accepting points, get closer to the
person asset in peds, go back and relax and then asserting that you want to
get closer to the person. Listen to what it is
that it's talking about because that's pushing is AGA, very important or it
is very emotional. And you'd like to pay much
more close attention to whatever it is that
it's been set up to you to determine those portions and give the viewer that visual. So it is up to you to
determine which part of your story that I would like
to pay close attention. Are you Like the viewer to
pay close attention to? So in recording, you do this. The need for you to record in at least two or three
basic image sizes are to give the viewer that
variation image sizes. So as the passive is closer
to the vest and feel relaxed, that residency
much more intimate with whatever information it
is that you're given out. Apart from that, the
variation in image sizes also make their storytelling
much more interesting. It is much more
appealing to watch a story that gives you
different aspects in variations in the
image and aspect and angles of the same
thing that is watching. So it is very important that
you know this image sizes and try to record accordingly. Now that is the
first step, but the importance of human senses, the second thing about image
sizes is that it is very crucial at post-production
at the editing stage. Because at the editing
stage, as I've said, the more variations they
are in your image sizes, the more interest in
your video is to watch. If do have different images to edit with, then what happens, and I've noticed
in most videos is that the film in one long, medium, long shots
or medium shot. And then when they go
to the editing stage, because there are no other in
these sizes to choose from. The stack with the long medium shot that they used or whatever. It may say they
used, the edit out, whatever they want to take out, and then they join all
these image sizes together. Now what happens is this. When you drink the same
image sizes together, there's always gotta jump cut, which is unpleasant flick. At the point of edits. It is much more
appropriate if you drink two different
image sizes together, or if you edit two
different image sizes together from a long shot, you join it with a medium
close-up or a close-up. That we, that
transition on the eye is much more pleasant
and smoother. Now let me show you
what I mean by that. Primary people to come
and realize that maybe, yeah, I sold his company to me. Wow. You must have the
contract in Liberia. Yes. And so because
he was leaving, he wanted to sell
the company to me, but we didn't want
people to know that. I don't want his
family people to know that. That's
what he has done. We sat down, we went on our agreements are
for watching diamond, but I was able to play like
what are all the money? He means times? Yes. He handed everything
to me and he lifts that same material. This is how it can be edited to look like family people
to come and realize that, yeah, steward his company to me. Wow. Let me see your master
contract in Liberia. And so because he was leaving, he wanted to sell
the company to me. But we didn't want
people to know that. I don't want his family
people to know that. That's what he has done. Okay? Yes. So we sat down, we went on our agreements
are for watching diamond, but I was able to report out
the money. He means times. Yes. He handed it
to me and he lifts. So did you notice
the difference? The same clip, the
same raw footage, but edited differently.
What's the difference? Is there's a very simple skill that I'm going to teach you to make your videos
look better and more exciting and professional, where you can make
the same footage, the same one long, boring single image
shot footage. Cut me to look like a multiple camera work with different variations
in the image sizes and even movements in the
camera to make it look as if there's a pan and zoom
when in the actual footage, nothing of that
sort ever happened. Everything looks like
a multiple camera work when in actual fact, it was a single camera work. So it's always important
that you feel your material in as many different
image sizes as you can. So that's when you get to
the post-production stage, the editing stage, it becomes easier for you to
vary your images and make your video look
much more pleasant. This is something that
you have to know, understand why and
plan accordingly. Now, another thing I
noticed with most videos is that this is not really a limitation as
such, but it does matter. Sometimes it takes the shine or professionalism
away from the video. It is what we call
the imaginary line. Now with the imaginary line, if I record it to people, that imaginary line
is supposed to be drawn between the
ghost, between them. Let me show you what I mean. So this a typical, a basic lesson of
the imaginary line. Now, if you are recording
these two people talking, the imaginary line is a line that you draw across
the two people. It passes through
the two individuals or two people you are recording. Now, depending on which cell you want to place the camera, assuming you place a camera here on this side of the line. Anywhere within this arc, this 180 degrees, OK, that you place your camera. You have the person in blue will always be looking
to the right of camera, and the pestle in red will be looking to the
left of camera. Where you put your camera on this side of the UK
or the 180 degrees, you maintain that same proof out of the blue person
looking to the right. And then I represent looking
to the left of camera. However, immediately
you cross this line, suddenly the red person will be looking to the
left of camera and the blue person will be looking
to the right of camera. So you have to decide
which parts of the line you placing your camera
on and maintain that. So if you're using a die, one camera or multiple cameras, you can place the
multiple cameras in a way from the line and any
point within this arc. You'll be okay. You will
maintain the same profile. You have this blue person look into their rights and their
direct person to person. The rest are looking
to the left. Now what happens if you're recording a single
person like myself? When you're filming
a single person, the imaginary line is supposed to be drawn through the person. Now this an imaginary line is not an actual
line, is that yes. And align that to you. The person recording
should have in mind. Now, depending on which side you choose to place your camera, or if you choose to place
the camera on the line. Itself. The person will be
looking straight into camera. Now that I look into the left or right, like I'm doing now, that imaginary line
is supposed to be straight through me, gone to me. So you can decide either
to place the camera on the line or to the right
and left of the subject. And whichever side
you put the camera on will determine which profile you have to maintain drew
out the recording. For instance, if you
put the camera zooming, you put the camera to
this side of the line. It means the object will always be looking to
direct off-camera. If you put the camera here. If we decide to put
the camera here, it means that subjects will always be looking
to the left of camera. So you maintain that
perfect throughout so as not to get the
viewer confused. So depending on which side or angle you want to
place your camera, you have to maintain
the Central Valley. If you put it to the right, you can put the
camera anywhere on this site and you still
maintain their profile. Or you can put a
camera on this side. If you decide to put the
camera on this side, you can put it anywhere here and used to be slaves
to maintain the sim profile. If you are doing a
multiple camera work, you can decide to
place your camera, maybe the first camera. You can place the
first camera here. The set, a second camera here. And maybe a tech camera. Here, are recording
the theme subjects. But each will be recording
a different image size. So you can have
this one recording. It may be long shots, this one in medium shot, and this one in a close up. That's when you go to
the editing stage. It becomes easier for you. If you want a close-up
shot of the just select the material from the occlusal camera and
then you edit with, we will have any problem. But what I've noticed is that Let's put our lesson is
they are imaginary line. What are we most videos is that the police,
they starting shots. The camera is looking
to the right of camera. They suddenly, when they take the image that the
person is looking to the left of camera. Now what that creates
is confusion. The drug gets confused
as to the orientation, whereas the passive system
in relation to the camera. And then they keep
on interchanging these different web in one, show the passage, look
into the rest of camera in their nature doesn't look
into the laptop camera. What that means is that
during the filming, the personal started
with the camera, placing the camera here. And then maybe
because I wanted to change angles are some disorder. A person now shifts the camera up to this
anger. And then films. Now from this angle, the pest
is looking to the right. And then from this
angle the business looking to the left of camera. So for instance, if I'm looking, the camera is on
the imaginary line. I don't know if I'm to move the camera anyway to my rights, are also always
maintain the proof. So let's assume that the camera, they have moved the
camera to the right now. I'm looking to the right
of camera right now. Anyway, I move this camera
to this side of the line. I'll always be looking
to the right of camera. Okay. Always be looking
to the right of camera. Okay? But if I cross the line, now suddenly I'm
beginning to look to the left of the
screen or camera. Now you notice that now if I place the camera on these different parts
of the line and edits, what will happen is that in one shot I'm looking
to the right there. That's what I'm
looking to the left. And maybe most people
are not aware of this, so they just join the two shots
together interchangeably. And you notice, I've seen
this so many videos. And I think this one than that you should be careful of when you're recording a video. Choose one side of
the imaginary line to place your camera
on and maintain that. However, this should not be a limitation that in
any creative work, these kind of rules are not meant to limit
you this supposed to make you creative so that
you can break this rule, of course, an imaginary line, but you do it creatively. For instance, people
will intentionally cross the imaginary line to create confusion in the
minds of the viewer. You know, I'd have to
deliberately disorientate viewer. It is used so many times, particularly in action movies,
where a person may be. Episode, for
instance, is running away from people chasing him or air gets replaced and then gets confused
as to where he is. So in that instance, you can shoot from
different angles crossing the imaginary line deliberately so as to
create that confusion that the actor or the
subject is confused. You can use it in
that creative way. Or even during filming of an
interview of this nature. You can deliberately lead G10. You are crossing the line by
doing it in one long pan, or a deliberate movement
where the viewer sees the action of crosses
the line in that manner, the viewer automatically orients him or herself to the
change in perspective. So you can imagine I should
not be a limitation. It will make you
much more creative. You can break it in whichever way we want to create whatever
effect that you want. But in most cases, if you want to maintain
a correct, perfect. If your intention
is not to confuse, if your intention is to maintain that attention of the viewer, then this is beta. That you maintain
one angle or you stay on one side of the imaginary line so as
not to confuse the viewer. So we've single people, the imaginary line goes
to the person so you can decide to place their camera
either on the line or two, either side of the line. If it's between two people than if I was
talking to somebody, then the imaginary line will go through me and that person. And you can either decide
to stay on this side of the line or to stay on that side of the line to
record is up to you. So that's one thing that
you should always be mindful of when
recording a video. That's what I mean
by knowing what the imaginary line is so
that you know how to film appropriately if your intention not to confuse the viewer. That's one thing about
the imaginary line. Now, our next topic is
the multiple camera work. The advantages and
disadvantages. Now, as I've already said, multiple camera work
is just between two or more cameras to
record the same action. Now, this is done mostly for the purposes
that are isolated areas so that you can very
different image sizes in your editing process. So usually you have
the main camera, which will be positioned
somewhere here. And this will be giving
you the long shots. Okay, sorry for my writing. I'm trying to do this
with their mouse is a little bit difficult. Then you have maybe
a second camera. Notice that they are all on the same side of
the imaginary line, which is supposed to go
straight through the person. So this will be giving
you a medium shots. And then there could be a pet camera or
even more cameras. This will be giving
you a close-up. So all these three
cameras will be recorded the same action but
in different image sizes. So that's when you get
to the editing stage, it becomes very easy for you to choose whichever
image that you want. Now the advantage of multiple
camera work is that you have a lot of different
image sizes to choose from. And this makes your work very interested to see with different angles to
the same action. That disadvantage.
The disadvantage, however, is that it
is quite expensive. And this created a longer time editing all these things out. But at the end of the day, your wax looks much more interesting, much
more professional. So if you can afford it, it is always better to use
a multiple camera work. However, these days, the means and ways of recording with a single camera,
like I'm doing now. And yet make it look
like a multiple camera. Work with different image sizes to meet the viewing of your
video. Much more pleasant. So this is what we call
multiple camera back. So you can decide either to
place all the cameras on one side or the other. Whichever side you
decide on is up to you, depending on your
situation or circumstance. You can place all
your cameras on one side of the imaginary line. It's giving you a
different image size. You can of course, cross
lines in-between to still create variations
in their angles and all that you can
do whatever it is. Don't let the image cranial
line be a hindrance. Rather make you
much more creative. So that's what there is to see about multiple cameras awake. Now how to tips on filming with a single camera and making it look like a
multiple camera work. Now, I'll be going into details. In subsequent particular,
the editors, did. You see what I'm talking about? What I'm talking about
will be much more relevant when we get to costume, which is editing videos. And I'll be showing,
you know, where, how important social distance or when we get to that stage. However, because
multiple cameras work, tends to be much more expensive, because you have to
get three cameras. You have to either
buy or pay for three cameras and all the lightens that
needs to go with it. Probably. The crew
that will be handy. It's camera, it becomes
a little bit expensive. Didn't multiple camera away. But these days, you can do
so with a single camera. And this is how to go about it. If we are let me
clean this thing off. So if you are using a single
camera, like I'm doing now, you can record one camera and then doing the
editing stage, either expand or contrast the video into whatever
size you want. So with what I'm
recording now, later on, I can either expand or
contrast this video and give it whatever
Amy says I want and can do it virtually every record in whatever
format you record with. However, if you are recording in standard definition,
all high-definition, whenever you expand the video, what happens is that the outcome may be a
little bit pixelated. Pictures don't look as
sharp as they should. But scraggly standard deviation, I would advise that you try to simulate a multiple
camera work when recording the standard deviation because immediately you start expanding the image,
it becomes pixelated. So even when you join them, what will happen is
one image looks up, the other, we'll look a
little bit pixelated. The same thing for high-definition
videos recorded in HD. Though the images will still look a little
bit subduct still be some pixelation with
expanded image. So the best format to
recording if you want to use this trick is to
record in for K. Now, a lot of cameras communities, they have the ability
to record and for k. But if you're
going to do that, make sure that the
editing software that you're using has the
ability to handle four key or your machine or a PC as the ability to
104 key images. This is very important.
Otherwise, you'll find it difficult editing FOK material because it's quite a heavy fell. Now, for k videos are about four times the resolution of High-Definition HD video. So what that means is
that when you even expand a fork a video, okay, let's see, from a long shot to a close up, you still maintain a definition
as SAP as an HD video. So if I record a long shots, if I recall as I'm
recording right now in for K. So even when I expand it, did you know to a close-up, the picture will
still look sharp. And I'll demonstrate
this to you in a second. But I can't do that
with video recorded in HD or high-definition
or standard definition. Immediate gras
status for expanding the outcome will be pixelated, all pixels that looks up. So it's always better if you want to record a single
camera work and make it look like either multiple
cameras to record in for K. So what happened is that if you're going
to do that measure, That's the initial angle is
which record in their image. Image size. Recording is either a short or a
medium long shot. That way, you can
then vary the image sizes to either a medium
close-up or a close-up to come. Now, if you're recording a
very Titus in the close-up, there's no way you can contrast that video to make it
look like a long shot. You have what you started
with to play with. So if you're going to record a single camera work and make it look like a
multiple camera away. Make sure that that video, the original material, is recorded in either
a medium long, short, or a long shot. In that way, you can get in
a close-up shots are closer. Image sizes from that
starts in the post-op, or a made-up goes up in
that way, you are limited. You can't do much in a medium, plus that's the best you
can get at odds with, is either a close up or
at your card has it. But if you coordinate, WE DO long shots. You'll have other images
that you can get out of it. And I'll show you what I mean, how this works into detail when we get to
the editing stage, and you understand what I
mean by saying recording a single camera work
and making it look like a multiple camera that
will be in costume. So if you do this, make sure that you get a fork, a camera and this, this, there are many
cameras you can get. Usually have four
K written on it. Like this. This camera, the camera I use. Okay, so we have
four K routine is, what it means is that
it's recording for this, this style of recording is cheaper because you have
only one camera to record. You can record with one
camera from different angles. But usually that is
more appropriate for scripted dialogue
or script there the recordings where
you can easily go repeat for the biases that you are recording
because it is scripted. So you place one camera here, you record the long shot, and then you change the
angle to a medium shots, they record the same thing. You repeat the same thing, depending on a number of
different image sizes. You want to record the
camera angle to do that. But if you want to do this
upset, always do for a camera. We can record in four
key like this one, it's already written on it. Although for the specifications, you know, when you're
going to back, I'm going to do for the specifications. And then make sure you
get a fork, a camera. And I'll be recommending
various equipments and softwares that are used that are very, very,
extremely beneficial. And you can check my profile to see some of the
things that I recommend. And when you can get them, I'll put all those
in my profile, which are links to where you can get all of their
